Synergistically S/N self-doped biochar as a green bifunctional cathode catalyst in electrochemical degradation of organic pollutant

Biomass-derived heteroatom self-doped cathode catalysts has attracted considerable interest for electrochemical advanced oxidation processes(EAOPs)due to its high performance and sustainable ***,we illustrated the morphological fates of waste leaf-derived graphitic carbon(WLGC)produced from waste ginkgo leaves via pyrolysis temperature regulation and used as bifunctional cathode catalyst for simultaneous H_(2)O_(2) electrochemical generation and organic pollutant degradation,discovering S/N-self-doping shown to facilitate a synergistic effect on reactive oxygen species(ROS)*** the optimum temperature of 800℃,the WLGC exhibited a H_(2)O_(2) selectivity of 94.2%and tetracycline removal of 99.3%within 60 *** functional theory calculations and in-situ Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy verified that graphitic N was the critical site for H_(2)O_(2) *** pyridinic N and thiophene S were the main active sites responsible for_OH generation,N vacancies were the active sites to produce ^(1)O_(2) from *** performance of the novel cathode for tetracycline degradation remains well under a wide pH range(3–11),maintaining excellent stability in 10 *** is also industrially applicable,achieving satisfactory performance treating in real water *** system facilitates both radical and non-radical degradation,offering valuable advances in the preparation of cost-effective and sustainable electrocatalysts and hold strong potentials in metal-free EAOPs for organic pollutant degradation.

Effect of Duty Cycle on the Characteristics of Pulse-Modulhted Radio-Frequency Atmospheric Pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge

Using a one-dimensional fluid model, the pulse-modulated radio-frequency dielectric barrier discharge in atmospheric helium is described. The influences of the pulse duty cycle on the discharge characteristics are studied. The numerical results show that the dependence of discharge characteristics on the duty cycle is sensitive in the region of around 40% duty cycle under the given simulation parameters. In the case of a larger duty cycle, the plasma density is higher, the discharge becomes more intense, but the power consumption is higher. When the duty cycle is lower, one can get a weaker discharge, lower plasma density and higher electron temperature in the bulk plasma. In practical applications, in order to get a higher plasma density and a lower power consumption, it is more important to choose a suitable duty cycle to modulate the RF power supply.

As important emerging contaminants, antibiotics have caused potential hazards to the ecological environment and human health due to their extensive production and consumption. Among various techniques for removing antibiotics from wastewater, H_(2)O_(2)-based advanced oxidation processes(AOPs) have received increasing attention due to their fast reaction rate and strong oxidation capability. Hence this review critically discusses:(i) Recent research progress of AOPs with the addition of H_(2)O_(2) for antibiotics removal through different methods of H_(2)O_(2) activation;(ii) recent advances in AOPs that can in-situ generate and activate H_(2)O_(2) for antibiotics removal;(iii) H_(2)O_(2)-based AOPs as a combination with other techniques for the degradation and mineralization of antibiotics in wastewater. Future perspectives about H_(2)O_(2)-based AOPs are also presented to grasp the future research trend in the area.

Recyclable thiol-modified Zr-based MOFs/hydrogel composite beads for effective removal of Hg(Ⅱ)

In general, majority of MOFs are powder, which limit their applications. In this study, the highly stable Zr-based MOF-808 and its thiol-modified MOF-808-SH were selected as precursors, and then they were wrapped by sodium alginate hydrogel via a dripping strategy. Based on these, MOF/hydrogel composite beads(Alg-MOF-808, AlgMOF-808-SH) with 3D network structure were prepared successfully. Due to its excellent adsorption properties and easy recovery, they were employed as effective environmental functional materials for the adsorption of Hg(Ⅱ). The adsorption capacities of Hg(Ⅱ) were 170.52 mg·g-1and 221.73 mg·g-1respectively and they can achieve adsorption equilibrium in a short time. The adsorption stability of Alg-MOF-808-SH was studied at different p H as well. In addition, the removal efficiency of composite beads for Hg(Ⅱ) was almost unaffected by other coexisting ions, displaying good adsorption selectivity. Furthermore, the removal efficiency only decreased by 10.4% after 5 cycles, indicating that the as-prepared materials have high recycling efficiency. The results demonstrated that the MOF/hydrogel composite beads have a certain application potential for mercury removal in actual wastewater.

Pyrolysis Characteristics and Kinetics of Methyl Oleate Based on TG-FTIR Method

The thermal decomposition characteristics of methyl oleate were preliminarily investigated under nitrogen atmo-sphere by a thermogravimetric analyzer when the ester was heated at a heating rate of 10℃/min from room temperature to 600℃. Furthermore, the pyrolytic and kinetic characteristics of methyl oleate were intensively studied at different heating rates. The gaseous species obtained during thermal decomposition were also identiifed by the TG-FTIR coupling analysis. The results showed that the pyrolysis of methyl oleate proceeded in three stages, viz. the drying stage, the main pyrolysis stage and the residual pyrolysis stage. The initial decomposition temperature, the maximum weight loss temperature, the peak decomposition temperature and the rate of maximum weight loss of methyl oleate increased with the increasing heating rates. Gaseous CO, CO2 and H2O were the typical decomposition products from pyrolysis of methyl oleate. In addition, a kinetic model for thermal decomposition of methyl oleate was built up based on the experimental results using the Coats-Redfern integral method and the multiplelinear regression method. The activation energy, the preexponential factor, the reaction order and the kinetic equation for thermal decomposition of methyl oleate were obtained. Comparison of the experimental data with the calculated ones and analysis of statistical errors of pyrolysis ratios demonstrated that the kinetic model was reliable for studying the pyrolysis of methyl oleate. Finally, the kinetic compensation effect between the preexponential factors and the activation energy in the pyrolysis of methyl oleate was also conifrmed.

Clinical information about a variety of disorders is available through blood cell counting,which is usually done by manual ***,manual methods are complex,time-consuming and susceptible to the subjective experience of *** many efforts have been made to develop automated blood cell counting algorithms,the complexity of blood cell distribution and the highly overlapping nature of some red blood cells(RBCs) remain significant challenges that limit the improvement of analytical ***,we proposed an end-to-end method for blood cell counting based on deep ***,U-Net++ was used to segment the whole blood cell image into several regions of interest(ROI),and each ROI contains only one single cell or multiple overlapping ***,YOLOv5 was used to detect blood cells in each ***,we proposed several strategies,including fine classification of RBCs,adaptive adjustment for non-maximal suppression(NMS) threshold and blood cell morphology constraints to improve the accuracy of ***,the detection outcomes for each ROI were combined and *** results show that our method can effectively address the issue of high overlap and precisely segment and detect blood cells,with a 98.18% accuracy rate for blood cell counting.

Association of DNA methylation/demethylation with the functional outcome of stroke in a hyperinflammatory state

Inflammation is closely related to stroke prognosis, and high inflammation status leads to poor functional outcome in stroke. DNA methylation is involved in the pathogenesis and prognosis of stroke. However, the effect of DNA methylation on stroke at high levels of inflammation is unclear. In this study, we constructed a hyperinflammatory cerebral ischemia mouse model and investigated the effect of hypomethylation and hypermethylation on the functional outcome. We constructed a mouse model of transient middle cerebral artery occlusion and treated the mice with lipopolysaccharide to induce a hyperinflammatory state. To investigate the effect of DNA methylation on stroke, we used small molecule inhibitors to restrain the function of key DNA methylation and demethylation enzymes. 2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining, neurological function scores, neurobehavioral tests, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, quantitative reverse transcription PCR and western blot assay were used to evaluate the effects after stroke in mice. We assessed changes in the global methylation status by measuring DNA 5-mc and DNA 5-hmc levels in peripheral blood after the use of the inhibitor. In the group treated with the DNA methylation inhibitor, brain tissue 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining showed an increase in infarct volume, which was accompanied by a decrease in neurological scores and worsening of neurobehavioral performance. The levels of inflammatory factors interleukin 6 and interleukin-1 beta in ischemic brain tissue and plasma were elevated, indicating increased inflammation. Related inflammatory pathway exploration showed significant overactivation of nuclear factor kappa B. These results suggested that inhibiting DNA methylation led to poor functional outcome in mice with high inflammation following stroke. Further, the effects were reversed by inhibition of DNA demethylation. Our findings suggest that DNA methylation regulates the inflammatory response in stroke

Diversity and Selectivity of Flowervisiting Insects in Xipu Forest Park

[Objective]This study was conducted to understand the species and quantity of flowervisiting insects in Xipu Forest Park,supplement the data of local flowervisiting insects,and fill the research gap of flowervisiting insects in the Lesser Hinggan Mountain.[Method]The methods of route survey and sample plot survey were used to investigate the community of flowervisiting insects,and the method of net catching was used to collect flowervisiting insects and record relevant data.[Results]A total of 1526 flowervisiting insects belonging to 79 species,27 families and 9 orders were *** them,Lepidoptera was the most,accounting for 40.51%,while Odonata,Mantodea,Hemiptera and Thysanoptera are the *** results showed that the insect diversity index and insect dominance index were higher in the flower cultivation area,the insect evenness index was highest in the lawn area,and the flowervisiting insects in arbor area and flower shrub area were more *** had the most flowervisiting insects,followed by Compositae,Cruciferae and Leguminosae.[Significance]The study provides scientific basis and data support for the rational development and utilization,biodiversity protection and sustainable development of forest parks.
