Th17/Treg balance and factors related to autoimmune hepatitis

Background:Although Th17 cells and regulatory T cells play critical roles in autoimmune hepatitis,the balance between them in acute and chronic immune hepatitis is not well‐studied.The objective of this study was to explore the role of Th17/Treg balance in autoimmune hepatitis.Methods:Thirty female Wistar rats were randomly divided into the following three groups:acute model(AC),chronic model(CC),and healthy control(HC).Aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,and bilirubin levels were measured.Peripheral blood interleukin(IL)‐17,IL‐6,IL‐10,and transforming growth factor‐βcytokine levels were also assessed.Flow cytometry was used to detect changes in the Th17 cell and Treg cell frequency,and the Th17/Treg ratio was calculated.Results:The frequency of Th17 cells and Treg cells were both increased(p<0.05)and the Th17/Treg ratio was higher in the AC group compared with those in the HC group(p<0.05).Th17 cell levels were significantly lower and Treg cell levels were significantly higher in the CC group,compared with those in the AC group(p<0.05).In addition,the Th17/Treg ratio was lower in the CC group compared with that in the HC group(p<0.05).Conclusion:The Th17/Treg ratio was increased in the acute immune liver injury model and decreased in the chronic liver injury model.Th17/Treg imbalance may play a critical role in liver injury occurrence and development.

Wind and Photovoltaic Power Time Series Data Aggregation Method Based on an Ensemble Clustering and Markov Chain

Reducing the input wind and photovoltaic power time series data can improve the efficiency of time sequential simulations.In this paper,a wind and photovoltaic power time series data aggregation method based on an ensemble clustering and Markov chain(ECMC)is proposed.The ECMC method can effectively reduce redundant information in the data.First,the wind and photovoltaic power time series data were divided into scenarios,and ensemble clustering was used to cluster the divided scenarios.At the same time,the Davies-Bouldin Index(DBI)is adopted to select the optimal number of clusters.Then,according to the temporal correlation between wind and photovoltaic scenarios,the wind and photovoltaic clustering results are merged and reduced to form a set of combined typical day scenarios that can reflect the characteristics of historical data within the calculation period.Finally,based on the Markov Chain,the state transition probability matrix of various combined typical day scenarios is constructed,and the aggregation state sequence of random length is generated,and then,the combined typical day scenarios of wind and photovoltaic were sampled in a sequential one-way sequence according to the state sequence and then are built into a representative wind and photovoltaic power time series aggregation sequence.A provincial power grid was chosen as an example to compare the multiple evaluation indexes of different aggregation methods.The results show that the ECMC aggregation method improves the accuracy and efficiency of time sequential simulations.

Facial-sketch Synthesis:A New Challenge

This paper aims to conduct a comprehensive study on facial-sketch synthesis(FSS).However,due to the high cost of obtaining hand-drawn sketch datasets,there is a lack of a complete benchmark for assessing the development of FSS algorithms over the last decade.We first introduce a high-quality dataset for FSS,named FS2K,which consists of 2104 image-sketch pairs spanning three types of sketch styles,image backgrounds,lighting conditions,skin colors,and facial attributes.FS2K differs from previous FSS datasets in difficulty,diversity,and scalability and should thus facilitate the progress of FSS research.Second,we present the largest-scale FSS investigation by reviewing 89 classic methods,including 25 handcrafted feature-based facial-sketch synthesis approaches,29 general translation methods,and 35 image-to-sketch approaches.In addition,we elaborate comprehensive experiments on the existing 19 cutting-edge models.Third,we present a simple baseline for FSS,named FSGAN.With only two straightforward components,i.e.,facialaware masking and style-vector expansion,our FSGAN surpasses the performance of all previous state-of-the-art models on the proposed FS2K dataset by a large margin.Finally,we conclude with lessons learned over the past years and point out several unsolved challenges.Our code is available at https://***/DengPingFan/FSGAN.

Stabilization of low-valence transition metal towards advanced catalytic effects on the hydrogen storage performance of magnesium hydride

Magnesium hydride(MgH_(2))has been widely regarded as a potential hydrogen storage material owing to its high gravimetric and volumetric capacity.Its sluggish kinetics and high activation energy barrier,however,severely limit its practical application.Transition metal oxides(TMOs)have been extensively used as catalysts to improve the hydrogen storage performance of MgH_(2),but the low-valence transition metal(TM)ions,resulting from the reduction of TMOs accompanied by the formation of inactive Mg O,have been demonstrated to be the most effective components.Herein,we theoretically and experimentally confirm that the doping of low-valence TMs into Mg O could effectively weaken the Mg-H bonds and decrease the energy required for hydrogen desorption from MgH_(2),leading to superior catalytic activity compared to both TMOs and Mg O.In particular,the apparent activation energy for the dehydrogenation of Mg(Nb)O-catalyzed MgH_(2)could be reduced to only 84.1 kJ mol^(-1),and the reversible capacity could reach around 7 wt.%after 5 cycles with a capacity retention of 96%.Detailed theoretical calculations confirm that the remarkable orbital hybridization between Mg(Nb)O and MgH_(2)promotes charge transfer from MgO to the MgH_(2)monomer,resulting in significantly weakened stability of MgH_(2),which could effectively enhance its hydrogen storage performance.

The dynamic and thermodynamic processes dominating the reduction of global land monsoon precipitation driven by anthropogenic aerosols emission

Changes in monsoon precipitation have profound social and economic impacts as more than two-thirds of the world’s population lives in monsoon regions.Observations show a significant reduction in global land monsoon precipitation during the second half of the 20 th century.Understanding the cause of this change,especially possible anthropogenic origins,is important.Here,we compare observed changes in global land monsoon precipitation during 1948–2005 with those simulated by 5 global climate models participating in the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project-phase 5(CMIP5)under different external forcings.We show that the observed drying trend is consistent with the model simulated response to anthropogenic forcing and to anthropogenic aerosol forcing in particular.We apply the optimal fingerprinting method to quantify anthropogenic influences on precipitation and find that anthropogenic aerosols may have contributed to 102%(62–144%for the 5–95%confidence interval)of the observed decrease in global land monsoon precipitation.A moisture budget analysis indicates that the reduction in precipitation results from reduced vertical moisture advection in response to aerosol forcing.Since much of the monsoon regions,such as India and China,have been experiencing rapid developments with increasing aerosol emissions in the past decedes,our results imply a further reduction in monsoon precipitation in these regions in the future if effective mitigations to reduce aerosol emissions are not deployed.The observed decline of aerosol emission in China since 2006 helps to alleviate the reducing trend of monsoon precipiptaion.

Optimization of different intensities of exercise preconditioning in protecting exhausted exercise induced heart injury in rats

This study was to optimize the exercise preconditioning(EP)intensity in protecting from exhaustive exercise-induced cardiac injury(EECI).A total of 98 male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 7 groups(n=14):the control group(C),the exhaustive exercise group(EE)and the EP+EE groups,which include the V10(53.0%VO_(2max)),V15(58.4%VO_(2max)),V20(67.0%VO_(2max)),V26(74.0%VO_(2max))and V30(80.0%VO_(2max))groups.Except the C group,the other groups were subjected to treadmill running.The serum contents of N terminal pro B type natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP)and cardiac troponin I(cTn-I)were detected by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method,ECG was recorded,heart function was detected by pressure volume catheter and the activities of mitochondrial electron transfer pathway(ET pathway)complexesⅠ,ⅡandⅣwere measured by high-resolution respiration instrument.Compared to the EE group,the EP groups have shown decrease of NT-proBNP and cTn-I,improvement of mitochondrial respiratory function and car-diac function.Compared to other EP groups,the V26 group has shown significant decrease of myocardial enzymes and improvement of mitochondrial function.The correlation analysis showed the EP effect was proportional to EP intensity in the range of 53.0%VO_(2max)-74.0%VO_(2max).High intensity and long duration of exhaustive exercise caused cardiac injury and EP could decrease serum level of NT-proBNP and cTn-I,improve electrical derangement and the left ventricular function,and raise the activities of ET pathway complexesⅠ,ⅡandⅣ.The protection of EP on EECI was improved as the EP intensity was increased from 53.0%VO_(2max)to 74.0%VO_(2max)and when EP intensity was 74.0%VO_(2max),the effect was the most obvious among all the setting EP groups.

Rice seeds identification based on back propagation neural network model

Rice quality directly affects the final rice yield.In order to achieve rapid,non-destructive testing of rice seeds,this paper combines the three-dimensional laser scanning technology and back propagation(BP)neural network algorithm to build a rice seeds identification platform.The information on rice seed surface is collected from four angles and processed using Geomagic Studio software.Based on the noise filtering,smoothing of the point cloud,vulnerability repair,and downsampling,the three-dimensional(3D)morphological characteristics of a rice seed surface,and the projection features of the main plane cross-section are obtained through the calculation of the features.The experiments were performed on five rice varieties,including Da Hua aromatic glutinous,Hong ShiⅠ,Tian You VIII,Xin Dao X,and Yu Jing VI.The resulting input vector consisted respectively of:(1)nine 3D morphological surface features,(2)nine projection features of the main cross-section plane of rice,and(3)all of the above features.The results showed that for an input vector consisting of nine surface 3D morphological features,the recognition rate of the five rice varieties was 95%,96%,87%,93%,and 89%,respectively;for an input vector consisting of nine projection features of the main cross-section plane of rice seeds,the recognition rate was 96%,96%,90%,92%,and 89%,respectively;and lastly,for an input vector consisting of all the features,the highest recognition rate of 96%,97%,91%,94%,and 90%,respectively,was achieved.The analysis showed that rice varieties could be identified by using 3D laser scanning.Therefore,the proposed method can improve the accuracy of rice varieties identification.

Multicellular organisms such as plants contain various cell types with specialized functions.Analyzing the characteristics of each cell type reveals specific cell functions and enhances our understanding of organization and function at the organismal level.Guard cells(GCs)are specialized epidermal cells that regulate the movement of the stomata and gaseous exchange,and provide a model genetic system for analyzing cell fate,signaling,and function.Several proteomics analyses of GC are available,but these are limited in depth.Here we used enzymatic isolation and flow cytometry to enrich GC and mesophyll cell protoplasts and perform in-depth proteomics in these two major cell types in Arabidopsis leaves.We identified approximately 3,000 proteins not previously found in the GC proteome and more than600 proteins that may be specific to GC.The depth of our proteomics enabled us to uncover a guard cell-specific kinase cascade whereby Raf15and Snf1-related kinase2.6(SnRK2.6)/OST1(open stomata 1)mediate abscisic acid(ABA)-induced stomatal closure.RAF15 directly phosphorylated SnRK2.6/OST1 at the conserved Ser175 residue in its activation loop and was sufficient to reactivate the inactive form of SnRK2.6/OST1.ABAtriggered SnRK2.6/OST1 activation and stomatal closure was impaired in raf15 mutants.We also showed enrichment of enzymes and flavone metabolism in GC,and consistent,dramatic accumulation of flavone metabolites.Our study answers the long-standing question of how ABA activates SnRK2.6/OST1 in GCs and represents a resource potentially providing further insights into the molecular basis of GC and mesophyll cell development,metabolism,structure,and function.

在工矿城市发展进程中,城市空间肌理受到严重破坏,产生大量割裂的碎片化空间,严重影响城市的风貌表征。为应对以碎片化空间为载体的城市风貌问题,本研究运用景观格局分析的方法识别国内典型工矿城市黄石市的下陆区空间格局,分析其空间碎片度高值聚集的片区。研究发现,该片区风貌在功能结构、形态肌理及空间形象上均存在问题,并在此基础上提出整治片区空间格局、引导整体风貌意象、分区布局多级触媒、传承工矿文化脉络的风貌整治策略。
