Evaluation of water management on arsenic methylation and volatilization in arsenic-contaminated soils strengthened by bioaugmentation and biostimulation

Arsenic(As) fate in paddy fields has been one of the most significant current issues due to the strong As accumulation potential of rice plants under fooded conditions. However,no attempt was done to explore As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions. Herein, we investigated the effects of water management on As methylation and volatilization in three arsenic-contaminated soils enhanced by biostimulation with strawderived organic matter and bioaugmentation with genetic engineered Pseudomonas putida KT2440(GE P. putida). Under fooded conditions, the application of biochar(BC), rice straw(RS)and their combination(BC+RS) increased total As in porewater. However, these effects were greatly attenuated under non-fooded conditions. Compared with RS amendment alone, the combination of GE P. putida and RS further promoted the As methylation and volatilization,and the promotion percentage under non-fooded conditions were significantly higher than that under fooded conditions. The combined GE P. putida and RS showed the highest efficiency in As methylation(88 μg/L) and volatilization(415.4 μg/(kg·year)) in the non-fooded soil with moderate As contamination. Finally, stepwise multiple linear regression analysis presented that methylated As, DOC and p H in porewater were the most important factors contributing to As volatilization. Overall, our findings suggest that combination of bioaugmentation with GE P. putida and biostimulation with RS/BC+RS is a potential strategy for bioremediation of arsenic-contaminated soils by enhancing As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions.

Selenium(Ⅵ) removal from caustic solution by synthetic Ca-Al-Cl layered double hydroxides

To extract selenium(Ⅵ)from the highly caustic leachate of copper anode slime,the Ca-Al-Cl layered double hydroxides(Ca-Al-Cl-LDHs)with a formula of Ca2 Al(OH)6 Cl·2 H2 O by three co-precipitation methods were synthesized.A plate-like morphology and hexagonal crystal structure with typical mineral phases and functional groups were identified by the FESEM,XRD,FTIR,BET and XPS *** forward feeding sample exhibits the best adsorption capacity of Se(Ⅵ).The factor experiments then reveal a favorable adsorption process with low temperature,low NaOH concentration and high adsorbent ***,the adsorption kinetics and isotherm parameters can be well described by the Langmuir isotherm and the pseudo-second-order models,***,the maximum adsorption amount of Se(Ⅵ)onto Ca-Al-Cl-LDHs reaches188.6 mg/g at 50 ℃.

Employing magnesium−lead melt for synergetic and selective extraction of copper from copper−cobalt alloy

This research aims to extract Cu from Cu-Co alloy with high efficiency and selectivity by employing binary Mg-Pb melt. The optimal conditions for the extraction of Cu were determined. The results showed under optimal conditions, 96.5% of Cu in the Cu-Co alloy could be selectively extracted after treatment at 800 ℃ for 1 h, with the extraction rates of only 0.2% Fe, 0.6% Co, and 1.4% Si. The dissolution mechanism involved the counter diffusion of Mg/Pb and Cu across the diffusion zone of the Cu-Co alloy, and Mg in the binary Mg-Pb melt played a major role in the selective dissolution of Cu, especially at the dissolution forefront. The rate-controlling step of the extraction was dominated by the interfacial reaction.

Exploring a new path of green and efficient utilization of sinter return fine to produce composite pellets

Efficient utilization of sinter return fine is an important measure to reduce cost,increase efficiency,save energy and reduce emission.A new path of green and efficient utilization of return fine was proposed to produce composite *** metallurgical properties of composite pellets under the condition of hydrogen-rich blast furnace were *** experimental results indicate that the coated concentrate was consolidated for the composite pellets through normal Fe_(2)O_(3) *** the surface of core return fine,the liquid phase formed due to its low-melting point,assimilated the adjacent concentrate,and then consolidated with the temperature *** with regular pellets,the com-pressive strength and reduction swelling index of composite pellets were decreased,but the reducibility index and softening-melting properties were *** addition,the reduction degradation index of composite pellets was sig-nificantly higher than that of ***,adding composite pellets was conducive to indirect reduction in blast furnace,reducing fuel ratio and improving production *** to the effect of the roasting system on the metallurgical properties,the roasting temperature and time were determined as 1250℃and 30 min,*** composite pellets can be produced under the traditional pelletizing process.

Numerical study of the influence of the atmospheric pressure on the thermal environment in the passenger cabin

The cabin air pressure remains lower than the horizontal atmospheric pressure when the airplane is in *** pressure is one of the parameters that must be taken into consideration while studying the thermal environment of an airplane *** are still no reference values for aircraft cabins despite the fact that numerous studies on low pressure heat transfer have demonstrated the connection between convective heat transfer coefficient(CHTC)and air *** this paper,a correction method for CHTC under low pressure conditions was established by using the dummy heat dissipation in the low-pressure cabin *** this basis,a thermal environment simulation model was developed,then was applied to the simulation of a seven-row aircraft cabin containing 42 passengers,and the CHTC and heat loss of dummy surface in the cabin were ***,the results of PMV calculated by using heat dissipation and air parameters at sampling points were *** results show that the modified CHTC can accurately reflect the cabin thermal environment under low pressure conditions,and the correction of CHTC can be realized by adjusting the turbulent Prandtl number,which is nonlinear correlated with the *** simulation results of the thermal environment in the seven-row cabin show that the CHTC changes by about 42%before and after *** air pressure decreases during take-off,which reduces the average CHTC of the crew surface from 5.09 W/(m^(2)·K)to 4.56 W/(m^(2)·K),but the air temperature rises by about 0.2°C as a *** deviation of PMV results calculated by using simulated heat loss data and using air parameters of measuring points in space is up to 0.5,but the latter is representative for calculating the thermal comfort level of the whole cabin.

Effect of slag composition on kinetic behavior of deep deoxidation of 5 wt.% Si high-silicon austenitic stainless steel

Based on a thermodynamic study of 5 wt.%Si high-silicon austenitic stainless steel(SS-5Si)smelting using CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)0_(3)-Mg-Si0_(2) slag to obtain a low oxygen content of less than 10×10^(-4) wt.%,a kinetic mass transfer model for deep deoxidation was established through laboratory studies,and the effects of slag components and temperature on deoxidation during the slag-steel reaction process of sS-5Si were systematically *** experimental data verified the accuracy of the model *** results showed that the final oxygen content in the steel at 1873 K was mainly controlled by the oxygen content derived from the activity of SiO_(2) regulated by the[Si]-[O]equilibrium reaction in the slag system;in particular,when the slag basicity R(R=w(CaO)/w(SiO2),where w(CaO)and w(SiO_(2))are the contents of CaO and SiO_(2) in the slag,respectively)is 3,the Al2O3 content in the slag needs to be less than 2.7%.The mass transfer rate equation for the kinetics of the deoxidation reaction revealed that the mass transfer of oxygen in the liquid metal is the rate-controlling step under different slag conditions at 1873 K,and the oxygen transfer coefficient ko.m increases with increasing the slag basicity from 4.0×10^(-6)m s^(-1)(R=1)to 4.3×10^(-5) m s^(-1)(R=3).ko.m values at R=2 and R=3 are almost the same,indicating that high slag basicity has little *** integral of the mass transfer rate equation for the deoxidation reaction of SS-5Si under different slag conditions is *** total oxygen content of the molten steel decreases with increasing basicity from an initial content of 22×10^(-4) to 3.2×10^(-4) wt.%(R=3),consistent with the change in ko.m with slag *** R=2,the slag-steel reaction takes 15 min to reach equilibrium(w[O]=5.5×10^(-4) wt.%),whereas at R=3,the slag-steel reaction takes 30 min to reach equilibrium(w[0]=3.2×10^(-4) wt.%).Considering the depth of deoxidation and reaction time of SS-5Si smelting,it is recommended the slag b

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the mechanisms behind the effects of acupuncture in Traditional Chinese Medicine,we delved into the adenosine triphosphate/peripheral purinergic P2X receptor 3(ATP/P2X3)receptor signaling system as an indicator of the body's energy state,commonly referred to as"Qi".METHODS:The tail-flick test was utilized to explore the impact of acupuncture on pain tolerance threshold(PTT)in mice,while also assessing adenosine(ADO)levels and adenylate energy charge(EC)at Zusanli(ST36).The study further investigated the dose-dependent effects of acupuncture on PTT and ADO levels at Zusanli(ST36).To shed light on the underlying mechanisms of acupuncture's effects,the study examined the impact of ATP,a P2X3 receptor antagonist,and adenosine disodium on PTT following acupuncture ***:Acupuncture at Zusanli(ST36)led to significant improvements in PTT in mice,with the most effective interventions being twirling for 2 min and needle retention for 28 *** interventions also resulted in significant increases in ATP *** effects of acupuncture were further augmented by administration of different doses of ATP at Zusanli(ST36),and pretreatment with a P2X3 receptor antagonist decreased *** EC peaked at 30 min after intraperitoneal injection of ATP,and pretreatment with various doses of *** 30 min prior to acupuncture increased PTT in a dose-dependent ***,pretreatment with an *** intramuscular injection of adenosine disodium enhanced the effects of ***:This research provides compelling evidence that ATP is involved in the regulation of PTT through acupuncture,revealing new avenues for achieving enhanced clinical outcomes.

Thermodynamic analysis and process optimization of zinc and lead recovery from copper smelting slag with chlorination roasting

An efficient chlorination roasting process for recovering zinc(Zn)and lead(Pb)from copper smelting slag was *** models were established,illustrating that Zn and Pb in copper smelting slag can be efficiently recycled during the chlorination roasting *** decreasing the partial pressure of the gaseous products,chlorination was *** Box−Behnken design was applied to assessing the interactive effects of the process variables and optimizing the chlorination roasting ***_(2) dosage and roasting temperature and time were used as variables,and metal recovery efficiencies were used as *** the roasting temperature was 1172℃ with a CaCl_(2) addition amount of 30 wt.%and a roasting time of 100 min,the predicted optimal recovery efficiencies of Zn and Pb were 87.85%and 99.26%,respectively,and the results were validated by experiments under the same *** residual Zn-and Pb-containing phases in the roasting slags were ZnFe_(2)O_(4),Zn_(2)SiO_(4),and PbS.
