Uni-directional carbon/carbon composites with high thermal conductivity are suitable to supply continuous thermal protection for future reentry vehicles since they could reduce surface temperature and ablation rates simultaneously in harsh *** this work,the high thermal conductivity carbon/carbon composites were prepared by chemical vapor *** heat-treatment,both their open porosity and internal friction increase due to the fiber/matrix thermal expansion mismatch;while their thermal conductive performance become better due to more complete carbon *** raising heat-treatment temperature from 1800℃to 2450℃,the mass and linear ablation rates of C/C composites with fibers vertical to the oxyacetylene torch for 60 s decrease from 0.66 mg/s and 2.95μm/s to 0.51 mg/s and 2.05μm/s *** improved ablation resistance is resulted from the increased thermal conductivity from 282 to 508 W/(m·K)and more carbon fibers exposed to the flame during ablation,which have better oxidation resistance than those of carbon *** such ablation rates become larger for composites with fibers parallel to the flame,from 1.02 mg/s and 3.73μm/s to 1.28 mg/s and 5.0μm/s respectively since the ablation occurred more easily through gaps at the fiber/matrix interfaces,which become larger and are always exposed to the flame for this case.

To reduce excess sludge, a Tubificidae reactor was combined with an integrated oxidation ditch with vertical circle （IODVC）, and a new integrated system was developed for wastewater treatment, A pilot-scale of this integrated system was tested to investigate the sludge reduction with Tubificidae and the impact on effluent quality and sludge production. The dominant worm was Branchnria Sowerbyi in the Tubificidae reactor after inoculation of Branchnria Sowerbyi and Limnodrilns sp., and the maximal volume density of wet Tubificidae in vessels of the Tubificidae reactor was 17600 g/m^3. Two operational modes, treating the excess sludge （first mode） and the returned sludge （second mode） of IODVC by the Tubificidae reactor, were used in this experiment. The results showed that the excess sludge reduction rate was 46.4% in the first mode, and the average sludge yield of the integrated system was 6.19× 10^-5 kg SS/kg COD in the second mode. Though the sludge returned to IODVC via the Tubificidae reactor, it had little impact on the effluent quality and the sludge characteristics of the IODVC. No new type of recalcitrant substance in the supernatant was discharged into the environment when the sludge was treated by Tubificidae. The experimental results also indicated that no significant changes occurred on the viscosity, specific resistance, and the floc size distribution of the sludge.

In this study, fatigue properties and fracture mechanism of dissimilar Al-Mg-Si/Al-Zn-Mg aluminum alloys friction stir welding （FSW） joints were investigated and the effect of the sheet configuration on the fatigue behavior of the FSW joints was also discussed. Results showed that the joints owned better fatigue properties when the Al-Zn-Mg aluminum alloy was placed at the advancing side （AS）. At 107 cycles, the fatigue strengths of Al-Zn-Mg-AS and Al-Mg- Si-AS joints were, respectively, 105.6 and 90.1 MPa. All joints fractured at the heat-affected zone at the Al-Mg-Si alloy side. Transmission electron microscopy results showed that better fatigue property of the Al-Zn-Mg-AS joint was associated with the bridging effect of the bigger secondary phase particles.

To repair the damaged SiC coated C/C composites,a double-layer system including a Sm-doped boro-silicate glass external layer and a SieSiC inner layer was prepared by a slurry-based laser cladding *** oxidation experiment and indirect/direct thermal-radiation measurements were *** results showed that the absorbance of borosilicate glass to the laser at 900e1200 nm was improved significantly by ***,the repaired coating with a more compact structure and better oxidation resistance was *** oxidation at 1773 K for 10 h,the mass loss of the damaged sample could be reduced by 74.98%with *** increasing laser-absorption and reducing viscosity,the thermal-radiation property of the repaired coating was enhanced to decrease the surface temperature greatly.A repair system with excellent thermal protection performance was achieved.

DNA methylation analysis has been applied to determine the primary site of cancer;however, robust and accurate prediction of cancer types with a minimum number of sites is still a significant scientific challenge. To build an accurate and robust cancer type prediction tool with a minimum number of DNA methylation sites, we internally benchmarked different DNA methylation site selection and ranking procedures, as well as different classification models. We used The Cancer Genome Atlas dataset (26 cancer types with 8296 samples) to train and test models and used an independent dataset (17 cancer types with 2738 samples) for model validation. A deep neural network model using a combined feature selection procedure (named MethyDeep) can predict 26 cancer types using 30 methylation sites with superior performance compared with the known methods for both primary and metastatic cancers in independent validation datasets. In conclusion, MethyDeep is an accurate and robust cancer type predictor with the minimum number of DNA methylation sites;it could help the cost-effective clarification of cancer of unknown primary patients and the liquid biopsy-based early screening of cancers.

Coal direct liquefaction technology is a crucial contemporary coal chemical technology for efficient and clean use of coal resources. The development of direct coal liquefaction technology and the promotion of alternative energy sources are important measures to guarantee energy security and economic security. However, several challenges need to be addressed, including low conversion rate, inadequate oil yield, significant coking, demanding reaction conditions, and high energy consumption. Extensive research has been conducted on these issues, but further exploration is required in certain aspects such as pyrolysis of macromolecules during the liquefaction process, hydrogen activation, catalysts' performance and stability, solvent hydrogenation, as well as interactions between free radicals to understand their mechanisms better. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the design strategy for efficient catalysts in coal liquefaction, encompassing the mechanism of coal liquefaction, catalyst construction,and enhancement of catalytic conversion efficiency. It serves as a comprehensive guide for further research endeavors. Firstly, it systematically summarizes the conversion mechanism of direct coal liquefaction, provides detailed descriptions of various catalyst design strategies, and especially outlines the catalytic mechanism. Furthermore, it addresses the challenges and prospects associated with constructing efficient catalysts for direct coal liquefaction based on an understanding of their action mechanisms.

People-centric activity recognition is one of the most critical technologies in a wide range of real-world applications,including intelligent transportation systems, healthcare services, and brain-computer interfaces. Large-scale data collection and annotation make the application of machine learning algorithms prohibitively expensive when adapting to new tasks. One way of circumventing this limitation is to train the model in a semi-supervised learning manner that utilizes a percentage of unlabeled data to reduce the labeling burden in prediction tasks. Despite their appeal, these models often assume that labeled and unlabeled data come from similar distributions, which leads to the domain shift problem caused by the presence of distribution gaps. To address these limitations, we propose herein a novel method for people-centric activity recognition,called domain generalization with semi-supervised learning(DGSSL), that effectively enhances the representation learning and domain alignment capabilities of a model. We first design a new autoregressive discriminator for adversarial training between unlabeled and labeled source domains, extracting domain-specific features to reduce the distribution gaps. Second, we introduce two reconstruction tasks to capture the task-specific features to avoid losing information related to representation learning while maintaining task-specific consistency. Finally, benefiting from the collaborative optimization of these two tasks, the model can accurately predict both the domain and category labels of the source domains for the classification task. We conduct extensive experiments on three real-world sensing datasets. The experimental results show that DGSSL surpasses the three state-of-the-art methods with better performance and generalization.
