Sperm head morphology is crucial for male factor infertility diagnosis and assessment of male reproductive *** are available to analyze sperm head morphology,but they are limited by poor methodology comparability and *** study aimed to explore comprehensive and new normal morphometric reference values for spermatozoa heads infertile Asian *** automated sperm morphology analysis system captured 23152 stained spermatozoa from confirmed *** these samples,1856 sperm head images were annotated by three experienced laboratory technicians as“normal”.Weemployed 14 novel morphometric features to describe sperm head size(head length,head width,length/width ratio,and girth),shape(ellipse intersection over union,girth intersection over union,short-axis symmetry,and long-axis symmetry),area(head,acrosome,postacrosomal areas,and acrosome area ratio),and degrees of acrosome and nuclear *** straight-forwardmethod for the morphometric analysis of sperm by accurate visual measurements is clinically *** measured parameterspresent valuable information to establish morphometric reference intervals for normal sperm heads in fertile Asian *** detailed measurement data will be valuable for interlaboratory comparisons and technician *** vitro fertilizationand andrology laboratory technicians can use these parameters to perform objective morphology evaluation when assessing malefertilization potential.

Overexpression of Kdm6b induces testicular differentiation in a temperature-dependent sex determination system

In reptiles,such as the red-eared slider turtle(Trachemys scripta elegans),gonadal sex determination is highly dependent on the environmental temperature during embryonic *** complex process,which leads to differentiation into either testes or ovaries,is governed by the finely tuned expression of upstream genes,notably the testis-promoting gene Dmrt1 and the ovary-promoting gene *** studies have identified epigenetic regulation as a crucial factor in testis development,with the H3K27me3 demethylase KDM6B being essential for Dmrt1 expression in ***,whether KDM6B alone can induce testicular differentiation remains *** this study,we found that overexpression of Kdm6b in *** embryos induced the male development pathway,accompanied by a rapid increase in the gonadal expression of Dmrt1 at 31°C,a temperature typically resulting in female ***,this sex reversal could be entirely rescued by Dmrt1 *** findings demonstrate that Kdm6b is sufficient for commitment to the male pathway,underscoring its role as a critical epigenetic regulator in the sex determination of the red-eared slider turtle.

The epidemic characters of Omicron(***-scale transmission)are significantly different from the initial variants of *** data generated by large-scale transmission is important to predict the trend of epidemic ***,the re-sults of current prediction models are inaccurate since they are not closely combined with the actual situation of Omicron *** consequence,these inaccurate results have negative impacts on the process of the manufacturing and the service industry,for example,the production of masks and the recovery of the tourism *** authors have studied the epidemic characters in two ways,that is,investigation and ***,a large amount of data is collected by utilising the Baidu index and conduct questionnaire survey concerning epidemic ***,theβ-SEIDR model is established,where the population is classified as Susceptible,Exposed,Infected,Dead andβ-Recovered persons,to intelligently predict the epidemic characters of *** thatβ-Recovered persons denote that the Recovered persons may become Sus-ceptible persons with probabilityβ.The simulation results show that the model can accurately predict the epidemic characters.

Engineering singlet and triplet excitons of TADF emitters by different host-guest interactions

Understanding the host-guest interactions for thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF)emitters is critical because the interactions between the host matrices and TADF emitters enable precise control on the optoelectronic performance,whereas technologically manipulating the singlet and triplet excitons by using different kinds of host-guest interactions remains ***,we report a comprehensive picture that rationalizes host-guest interaction-modulated exciton recombination by using time-resolved *** found that the early-time relaxation is accelerated in polar polymer because dipole-dipole interaction facilitates the stabilization of the 1CT ***,an opposite trend is observed in longer delay time,and faster decay in the less polar polymer is ascribed to theπ-πinteraction that plays the dominant role in the later stage of the excited *** findings highlight the technological engineering singlet and triplet excitons using different kinds of host-guest interactions based on their electronic characteristics.

High sensitivity of semimetal photodetection via Bose–Einstein condensation

The discovery of semiconductor has witnessed remarkable strides toward high performance of photodetectors attributed to its excellent carrier ***,semimetal,owning to the high carrier concentration and low carrier mobility compared to those of semiconductor,is generally considered unsuitable for ***,we demonstrate an outstanding photodetection in a layered semimetal titanium diselenide(TiSe_(2))in Bose-Einstein condensation(BEC)*** sensitivity of semimetal photodetector is realized in the range of visible,infrared and terahertz *** noise equivalent power(NEP)has threefold improvement at the visible and infrared wavebands,and significant decrease by one order of magnitude in the terahertz frequencies via BEC phenomenon,attributed to the electrical parameter variation after *** best NEP value in the terahertz frequency is comparable to that of commercial Si *** results show another recipe to fabricate high performance of photodetection via semimetal except for semiconductor and pave the way to exploit macroscopic quantum phenomena for optoelectronics.

BAR:a branch-alternation-resorting algorithm for locality exploration in graph processing

Unstructured and irregular graph data causes strong randomness and poor locality of data accesses in graph *** paper optimizes the depth-branch-resorting algorithm(DBR),and proposes a branch-alternation-resorting algorithm(BAR).In order to make the algorithm run in parallel and improve the efficiency of algorithm operation,the BAR algorithm is mapped onto the reconfigurable array processor(APR-16)to achieve vertex reordering,effectively improving the locality of graph *** paper validates the BAR algorithm on the GraphBIG framework,by utilizing the reordered dataset with BAR on breadth-first search(BFS),single source shortest paht(SSSP)and betweenness centrality(BC)algorithms for *** results show that compared with DBR and Corder algorithms,BAR can reduce execution time by up to 33.00%,and 51.00%*** terms of data movement,the BAR algorithm has a maximum reduction of 39.00%compared with the DBR algorithm and 29.66%compared with Corder *** terms of computational complexity,the BAR algorithm has a maximum reduction of 32.56%compared with DBR algorithm and53.05%compared with Corder algorithm.

Many long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)have been identified through siRNA-based screening as essential regulators of embryonic stem cell(ESC)***,the biological and molecular functions of most lncRNAs remain ***,we employed CRISPR/Cas9-mediated knockout technology to explore the functions of 8 lncRNAs previously reported to promote pluripotency in mouse ***,all of these lncRNAs were dispensable for pluripotency maintenance and proliferation in mouse ESCs when disrupted individually or in ***-cell transcriptomic analysis also showed that the knockout of these lncRNAs has a minimal impact on pluripotency gene expression and cell *** further showed that several small hairpin RNAs(shRNAs)previously used to knock down lncRNAs caused the downregulation of pluripotency genes in the corresponding lncRNA-knockout ESCs,indicating that off-target effects likely responsible for the pluripotency defects caused by these ***,linc1343-knockout and linc1343-knockdown ESCs failed to form cystic structures and exhibited high expression of pluripotency genes during embryoid body(EB)*** reintroducing RNA products generated from the linc1343 locus,we found that two snoRNAs,Snora73a and Snora73b,but not lncRNAs,could rescue pluripotency silencing defects during EB differentiation of linc1343 knockout *** results suggest that the 8 previously annotated pluripotency-regulating lncRNAs have no overt functions in conventional ESC culture;however,we identified snoRNA products derived from an annotated lncRNA locus as essential regulators for silencing pluripotency genes.

Sodium Leak Channel in Glutamatergic Neurons of the Lateral Parabrachial Nucleus Helps to Maintain Respiratory Frequency Under Sevoflurane Anesthesia

The lateral parabrachial nucleus(PBL)is implicated in the regulation of respiratory *** leak channel(NALCN)mutations disrupt the respiratory rhythm and influence anesthetic sensitivity in both rodents and ***,we investigated whether the NALCN in PBL glutamatergic neurons maintains respiratory function under general *** results showed that chemogenetic activation of PBL glutamatergic neurons increased the respiratory frequency(RF)in mice;whereas chemogenetic inhibition suppressed *** knockdown in PBL glutamatergic neurons but not GABAergic neurons significantly reduced RF under physiological conditions and caused more respiratory suppression under sevoflurane *** knockdown in PBL glutamatergic neurons did not further exacerbate the respiratory suppression induced by propofol or *** sevoflurane anesthesia,painful stimuli rapidly increased the RF,which was not affected by NALCN knockdown in PBL glutamatergic *** study suggested that the NALCN is a key ion channel in PBL glutamatergic neurons that maintains respiratory frequency under volatile anesthetic sevoflurane but not intravenous anesthetic propofol.

The vehicle industry is always in search of breakthrough energy-saving and emission-reduction *** recent years,vehicle intelligence has progressed considerably,and researchers are currently trying to take advantage of these *** we consider the case of many vehicles forming a queue,i.e.,vehicles traveling at a predetermined speed and distance *** the majority of existing studies on this subject have focused on the influence of the longitudinal vehicle spacing,vehicle speed,and the number of vehicles on aerodynamic drag and fuel economy,this study considers the lateral offset distance of the vehicle *** group fuel consumption savings rate is calculated and *** also demonstrated by experimental results,some aerodynamic benefits ***,the fuel consumption saving rate of the vehicle queue decreases as the lateral offset distance increases.
