In this paper, the effect of different amount of protrusion on various parameters in rotor–stator system was experimentally studied by measuring CO_2 concentration and pressure, in order to obtain the optimal protrusion *** parameters of different dimensionless sealing flow were measured under the condition that the annulus Reynolds number was 4.39 × 10~5 and the rotating Reynolds number was 1.05 × 10~*** results show that the change of the amount of protrusions has little effect on the static pressure in the cavity, and the static pressure change near the sealing ring is almost *** the total pressure and sealing efficiency increase first and then decrease with the increase of the amount of *** variation of power consumption is the same.A complex vortex structure will appear at the high radius region when the protrusion is *** the other hand, the protrusion can effectively reduce the minimum sealing flow of the rotor–stator ***, considering the sealing efficiency and power consumption,the best range of the protrusion amount is about *** ratio near this range can optimally balance the alleviation of the gas ingestion and the reduction of the power consumption.

Three-dimensional(3D)shape registration is a challenging problem,especially for shapes under non-rigid *** this paper,a 3D non-rigid shape registration method is proposed,called balanced functional maps(BFM).The BFM algorithm generalizes the point-based correspondence to *** choosing the Laplace-Beltrami eigenfunctions as the function basis,the transformations between shapes can be represented by the functional map(FM)*** addition,many constraints on shape registration,such as the feature descriptor,keypoint,and salient region correspondence,can be formulated linearly using the *** bi-directionally searching for the nearest neighbors of points’indicator functions in the function space,the point-based correspondence can be derived from *** conducted several experiments on the Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications(TOSCA)dataset and the Shape Completion and Animation of People(SCAPE)*** results show that the proposed BFM algorithm is effective and has superior performance than the state-of-the-art methods on both datasets.

We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

The utilization and protection of coastlines play a crucial role in the sustainable development of coastal *** coastline designations in recent years have witnessed more coastal areas worldwide undergoing significant land reclamation for agriculture,industry,and urbanization *** study used remote sensing images from 1986 to 2016 to analyze spatiotemporal changes in the coastlines of 13 cities around the Bohai Sea,which cover one city(Tianjin City)and three provinces(Liaoning,Hebei,and Shandong).Using coastline and socioeconomic data from 1986 to 2016,a partial least-squares regression(PLSR)model was established to analyze factors affecting the utilization of coastlines in each *** results showed that from 1986 to 2016,the retention rates of natural coastlines in the cities around the Bohai Sea decreased,and the overall coastline expanded toward the ***,the impacts of human activities were prominent on the silty mud and sandy *** development,population growth,and urbanization were the main drivers of the development and construction of coastal cities,which changed the coastlines around the Bohai Sea to a state of high-intensity *** addition,national macro policies and the external market environment indirectly drove the intensity of coastline use through regulations and interventions in ***,there were significant differences in the levels of development of the cities surrounding the Bohai *** the future,the differences in the original coastal resources and urban development planning must be considered,the traditional parameters of economic development must be changed,the efficiency of coastline utilization must be improved,and urban clusters must be integrated.

Responses of the Sea Surface Temperature and Suspended Matter Concentration to ENSO Events in the Bohai Sea

The sea surface temperature(SST)and sea surface suspended matter concentration data in the Bohai Sea were collected by multiple NOAA satellites from 1985 to *** background calibration method was used to correct the systematic errors caused by the long-term observations through multiple NOAA satellites in this ***,we studied the long-term variations of the sea surface temperature(SST)and sea surface suspended matter concentration(SSC)and their response to ENSO events in the Bohai *** results show that the SST and SSC of the Bohai Sea have been increasing since 1985,with an average rate of 0.04℃per year for SST,which is higher than the global *** average increasing rate of SSC was 0.51 mg L^(-1)yr^(-1),which may be mainly due to the enhancement of winter monsoon in the *** winter,the SST and SSC of the Bohai Sea were higher in El Niño years than in La Niña *** El Niño years,the ocean circulations were the main factor affecting the variation in *** robust circulation system caused by the strong winter monsoon enhances the water exchange between the cold water of the Bohai Sea and the warm water of the Yellow Sea,resulting in a higher SST in La Niña *** summer,the SSTs of the Bohai Sea were lower in El Niño years than those in the La Niña years because of the decrease of the SST in the Western Pacific Ocean,the weakening of the subtropical high in the western Pacific,and its eastward shift caused by the El Niño events.

TRPV4-induced Neurofilament Injury Contributes to Memory Impairment after High Intensity and Low Frequency Noise Exposures

Objective Exposure to high intensity, low frequency noise(HI-LFN) causes vibroacoustic disease(VAD),with memory deficit as a primary non-auditory symptomatic effect of VAD. However, the underlying mechanism of the memory deficit is unknown. This study aimed to characterize potential mechanisms involving morphological changes of neurons and nerve fibers in the hippocampus, after exposure to *** Adult wild-type and transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 4 knockout(TRPV4^(-/-)) mice were used for construction of the HI-LFN injury model. The new object recognition task and the Morris water maze test were used to measure the memory of these animals. Hemoxylin and eosin and immunofluorescence staining were used to examine morphological changes of the hippocampus after exposure to *** The expression of TRPV4 was significantly upregulated in the hippocampus after HI-LFN exposure. Furthermore, memory deficits correlated with lower densities of neurons and neurofilamentpositive nerve fibers in the cornu ammonis 1(CA1) and dentate gyrus(DG) hippocampal areas in wildtype mice. However, TRPV4^(-/-)mice showed better performance in memory tests and more integrated neurofilament-positive nerve fibers in the CA1 and DG areas after HI-LFN *** TRPV4 up-regulation induced neurofilament positive nerve fiber injury in the hippocampus,which was a possible mechanism for memory impairment and cognitive decline resulting from HI-LFN exposure. Together, these results identified a promising therapeutic target for treating cognitive dysfunction in VAD patients.

Bioavailability of cyanide in the different environmental compartments

Vascular plants possess an enzyme system that detoxifies cyanide by converting it to the amino acid asparagine. Hybrid willows （Salix matsudana Koidz×Salix alba L.） were exposed to cyanide to determine whether willows can transport and metabolize this compound. Pre-rooted trees were grown in different environmental compartments, spiked or irrigated with potassium cyanide at 24.0±0.5℃. Cyanide in compartments, in air and in tissues of plants was analyzed spectrophotometrically. Results from this study indicated that large amounts of applied cyanide was removed from the systems during the presence of willows. Growing compartments of plants have a strong influence on the removal rates of cyanide. Little or no initial cyanide was detected in plant materials. Volatilization of cyanide was not occurring. Mass balance studies showed that applied cyanide was significantly metabolized during transport through willows cuttings. However, there was a clear difference between the metabolism rates of cyanide by willows exposed to different environmental compartments. The highest cyanide metabolism rate was found at the treatment with willows growing in hydroponic solution with a metabolism rate of 2.44 mgCN/（kg, d）, followed by willows growing in sand with a value of 1.02 mgCN/（kg·d）. The lowest metabolism rate had the willows growing in soils（0.43 mgCN/（kg·d）. In conclusion, transport and metabolism of cyanide in plants is likely and phytoremediation of cyanide is a feasible option for cleaning soils and water contaminated with cyanide.

Understanding the foraging behavior is essential for investigating seabird ecology and conservation,as well as monitoring the well-being of the marine *** seabirds adopt diverse foraging strategies to maximize energy gains and cope with the intensified challenges of parenting and *** tradeoff may stem from the heterogeneity of food resources and the constraints of central place ***,abundant marine productivity could alleviate the energy limitation for seabirds,resulting in a consistent foraging ***,we investigated the foraging strategy during the breeding season of a cryptic small-sized seabird,Swinhoe’s Storm-petrel(Hydrobates monorhis),in the Yellow Sea,a productive marginal sea of the Northwest *** GPS tracking,we evaluated habitat preference,quantified the foraging strategy,and tested if environmental conditions and individual traits influence foraging *** found that Swinhoe’s Storm-petrels preferred nearshore areas with shallow water and engaged in primarily short foraging *** southeastward and southwestward strategies emerged when combining trip metrics,including foraging direction,duration,and maximum *** bathymetry,proximity to the coastline,and sea surface temperature differed in two foraging *** strategies exhibited flexibility between individuals,potentially explained by wing morphology,in which longer-winged birds are more likely to embark on longer-distance foraging *** findings highlight the impact of environmental factors and individual traits on seabirds’foraging decisions in productive marginal sea *** study also provides valuable insights into the foraging ecology of this Asian endemic storm-petrel.
