Tensor robust principal component analysis has received a substantial amount of attention in various *** existing methods,normally relying on tensor nuclear norm minimization,need to pay an expensive computational cost due to multiple singular value decompositions at each *** overcome the drawback,we propose a scalable and efficient method,named parallel active subspace decomposition,which divides the unfolding along each mode of the tensor into a columnwise orthonormal matrix(active subspace)and another small-size matrix in *** a transformation leads to a nonconvex optimization problem in which the scale of nuclear norm minimization is generally much smaller than that in the original *** solve the optimization problem by an alternating direction method of multipliers and show that the iterates can be convergent within the given stopping criterion and the convergent solution is close to the global optimum solution within the prescribed *** results are given to demonstrate that the performance of the proposed model is better than the state-of-the-art methods.

Previous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of a novel three-layer landfill cover system constructed with recycled concrete aggregates(RCAs)without geomembrane in both laboratory and ***,no systematic investigation has been carried out to optimize the combination of the particle sizes for fine-grained RCAs(FRC)and coarse-grained RCAs(CRC)that can be used for the three-layer landfill cover *** aim of this paper is to assist engineers in designing the three-layer landfill cover system under a rainfall of 100-year return period in humid climate conditions using an easily controlled soil parameter D10 of *** numerical study reveals that when D10 of FRC increases from 0.05 mm to 0.16 mm,its saturated permeability increases by 10 *** a result,a larger amount of rainwater infiltrates into the cover system,causing a higher lateral diversion in both the top FRC and middle CRC *** further changes in the lateral diversion are observed when the D10 value of FRC is larger than 0.16 *** the particle sizes of FRC and CRC layers are shown to have a minor influence on the percolation under the extreme rainfall *** implies that the selection of particle sizes for the FRC and CRC layers can be based on the availability of *** it is well known that the bottom layer of the cover system should be constructed with very fine-grained soils if possible,this study provides an upper limit to the particle size that can be used in the bottom layer(D10 not larger than 0.02 mm).With this limit,the three-layer system can still minimize the water percolation to meet the design criterion(30 mm/yr)even under a 100-year return period of rainfall in humid climates.

Microplastics(MPs)have been widely detected in drinking water sources and tap water,raising the concern of the effectiveness of drinking water treatment plants(DWTPs)in protecting the public from exposure to MPs through drinking *** collected and analyzed the available research articles up to August 2021 on MPs in drinking water treatment(DWT),including laboratory-and full-scale *** article summarizes the major MP compositions(materials,sizes,shapes,and concentrations)in drinking water sources,and critically reviews the removal efficiency and impacts of MPs in various drinking water treatment *** discussed drinking water treatment processes include coagulation-flocculation(CF),membrane filtration,sand filtration,and granular activated carbon(GAC)*** DWT processes that are purposed for particle removal are generally effective in reducing MPs in *** influential factors to MP removal are discussed,such as coagulant type and dose,MP material,shape and size,and water *** is anticipated that better MP removal can be achieved by optimizing the treatment ***,the article framed the major challenges and future research directions on MPs and nanoplastics(NPs)in DWT.

In this paper,we analyze the spectra of the preconditioned matrices arising from discretized multi-dimensional Riesz spatial fractional diffusion *** finite difference method is employed to approximate the multi-dimensional Riesz fractional derivatives,which generates symmetric positive definite ill-conditioned multi-level Toeplitz *** preconditioned conjugate gradient method with a preconditioner based on the sine transform is employed to solve the resulting linear ***,we prove that the spectra of the preconditioned matrices are uniformly bounded in the open interval(12,32)and thus the preconditioned conjugate gradient method converges linearly within an iteration number independent of the discretization ***,the proposed method can be extended to handle ill-conditioned multi-level Toeplitz matrices whose blocks are generated by functions with zeros of fractional *** theoretical results fill in a vacancy in the *** examples are presented to show the convergence performance of the proposed preconditioner that is better than other preconditioners.

The deployment of photonic integrated circuits(PICs)necessitates an integration platform that is scalable,high-throughput,cost-effective,and *** we present a monolithic InP on SOI platform to synergize the advantages of two mainstream photonic integration platforms:Si photonics and InP *** monolithic InP/SOI platform is realized through the selective growth of both InP sub-micron wires and large dimension InP membranes on industry-standard(001)-oriented silicon-on-insulator(SOI)*** epitaxial InP is in-plane,dislocation-free,site-controlled,intimately positioned with the Si device layer,and placed right on top of the buried oxide layer to form“InP-on-insulator”.These attributes allow for the realization of various photonic functionalities using the epitaxial InP,with efficient light interfacing between the III-V devices and the Si-based *** exemplify the potential of this InP/SOI platform for integrated photonics through the demonstration of lasers with different cavity designs including subwavelength wires,square cavities,and *** results here mark a critical step forward towards fully-integrated Si-based PICs.

It is well known that ethacrynic acid (EA) can potentiate the ototoxicity of aminoglycoside antibiotics (AmAn) such as kanamycin (KM),if they were applied at the same ***,to create the model of EA-KMinduced cochlear lesion in rats,adult rats received a single injection of EA (75 mg/kg,intravenous injection),or followed immediately by KM (500 mg/kg,intramuscular injection).The hearing function was assessed by auditory brainstem response (ABR) measurement in response to click and/or tone bursts at 4,8,12,16,20,24,and 32 *** static microcirculation status in the stria vascularis after a single EA injection was evaluated with eosin *** pathological changes in cochlear and vestibular hair cells were also quantified after co-administration of EA and *** a single EA injection,blood flow in vessels supplying the stria vascularis rapidly ***,the blood supply to the cochlear lateral wall partially recovered 5 h after EA *** changes in ABR were basically parallel to the microcirculation changes in stria vascularis after single EA ***,disposable co-administration of EA and KM resulted in a permanent hearing loss and severe damage to the cochlear hair cells,but spared the vestibular hair *** the cochlear lateral wall is the important part of the blood-cochlea barrier,EA-induced anoxic damage to the epithelium of stria vascularis may enhance the entry of KM to the ***,experimental animal model of selective cochlear damage with normal vestibular systems can be reliably created through co-administration of EA and KM.

Identification of Herbal Compound Imperatorin with Adverse Effects on ANO1 and CFTR Chloride Channels

Calcium-activated chloride channels（CaCCs） are the crucial regulators of transepithelial fluid secretion, smooth muscle contraction and sensory transduction. Recently, compelling evidence has indicated that TMEM16A（ANO1 or anoctamin-1） is a bona fide calcium-acvtivated chloride channel. A few small molecule CaCCs regulators are available for functional and therapeutic studies. We screened 126 natural compounds from Chinese herbs. Screening was performed with an iodide influx assay in Fischer rat thyroid epithelial cells to coexpress ANO1 and an iodide-sensitive fluorescent indicator（EYFP-H148Q/I152L）. Imperatorin, a coumarin compound, was identified to inhibit ANO1-mediated chloride transport activated by multiple calcium-elevating agonists. The inhibitory effect is dose-dependent with IC50～14.63 μmol/L. Interestingly, imperatorin activated CFTR chloride channel with EC50～35.52 μmol/L. The adverse effects of imperatorin on CaCC and CFTR chloride channels will make it useful in pharmacological dissection of chloride transport in airway and intestinal epithelium. Further studies are required to evaluate the therapeutic effects of imperatorin on hypertension, asthma and certain tumors.

Efficient, scalable, bufferless, and compact Ⅲ–V lasers directly grown on(001)-oriented silicon-on-insulators(SOIs) are preferred light sources in Si-photonics. In this article, we present the design and operation of Ⅲ–V telecom nanolaser arrays with integrated distributed Bragg reflectors(DBRs) epitaxially grown on industry-standard(001) SOI wafers. We simulated the mirror reflectance of different guided modes under various mirror architectures, and accordingly devised nanoscale DBR gratings to support high reflectivity around1500 nm for the doughnut-shaped TE01 mode. Building from InP/IngaAs nanoridges grown on SOI, we fabricated subwavelength DBR mirrors at both ends of the nanoridge laser cavities and thus demonstrated room-temperature low-threshold InP/IngaAs nanolasers with a 0.28 μm^2 cross-section and a 20 μm effective cavity length. The direct growth of these bufferless nanoscale Ⅲ–V light emitters on Si-photonics standard(001) SOI wafers opens future options of fully integrated Si-based nanophotonic integrated circuits in the telecom wavelength regime.
