Evolution of pore systems in low-maturity oil shales during thermal upgrading--Quantified by dynamic SEM and machine learning

In-situ upgrading by heating is feasible for low-maturity shale oil,where the pore space dynamically *** characterize this response for a heated substrate concurrently imaged by *** systematically follow the evolution of pore quantity,size(length,width and cross-sectional area),orientation,shape(aspect ratio,roundness and solidity)and their anisotropy—interpreted by machine *** indicate that heating generates new pores in both orga.ic matter and inorga.ic ***,the newly formed pores are smaller than the original pores and thus reduce average lengths and widths of the bedding-parallel pore ***,the average pore lengths and widths are increased in the bedding-perpendicular ***,heating increases the cross-sectional area of pores in low-maturity oil shales,where this growth tendency fluctuates at300℃.In addition,the orientation and shape of the newly-formed heating-induced pores follow the habit of the original pores and follow the initial probability distributions of pore orientation and ***,limited anisotropy is detected in pore direction and shape,indicating similar modes of evolution both bedding-parallel and *** propose a straightforward but robust model to describe evolution of pore system in low-maturity oil shales during heating.

Joint Sample Position Based Noise Filtering and Mean Shift Clustering for Imbalanced Classification Learning

The problem of imbalanced data classification learning has received much *** classification algorithms are susceptible to data skew to favor majority samples and ignore minority *** weighted minority oversampling technique(MWMOTE)is an effective approach to solve this problem,however,it may suffer from the shortcomings of inadequate noise filtering and synthesizing the same samples as the original minority *** this end,we propose an improved MWMOTE method named joint sample position based noise filtering and mean shift clustering(SPMSC)to solve these ***,in order to effectively eliminate the effect of noisy samples,SPMsC uses a new noise filtering mechanism to determine whether a minority sample is noisy or not based on its position and distribution relative to the majority *** that MWMOTE may generate duplicate samples,we then employ the mean shift algorithm to cluster minority samples to reduce synthetic replicate ***,data cleaning is performed on the processed data to further eliminate class *** on extensive benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of SPMsC compared with other sampling methods.

Impact response and energy absorption of metallic buffer with entangled wire mesh damper

An innovative metallic buffer consisting of series-connected hat-shaped entangled wire mesh damper(EWMD)and parallel springs are proposed in this work to enhance the reliability of engineering *** impact response and the energy dissipation mechanism of hat-shaped EWMD under different quasi-static compression deformations(2-7 mm)and impact heights(100-200 mm)are investiga.ed using experimental and numerical *** results demonstrate distinct stages in the quasi-static mechanical characteristics of hat-shaped EWMD,including stiffness softening,nega.ive stiffness,and stiffness *** loss factor gradually increases with increasing compression deformation before entering the stiffness hardening *** impact loads,the hat-shaped EWMD exhibits optimal impact energy absorption when it enters the nega.ive stiffness stage(150 mm),resulting in the best impact isolation effect of metallic ***,the impact energy absorption significantly decreases when hat-shaped EWMD enters the stiffness hardening ***,quasi-static compression analysis after experiencing different impact loads reveals the disappearance of the nega.ive stiffness ***,with increasing impact loads,the stiffness hardening point progressively shifts to an earlier stage.

Recently, scholars have become enthusiastic about event-triggered control(ETC) of hyperbolic PDEs, primarily because it can help conserve computing and communication resources. For example,Ref. [2] presented an output feedback ETC scheme for 2 × 2hyperbolic PDEs.

Unraveling role of double-exchange interaction in electrochemical water oxidation by external magnetic field

Double-exchange(DE) interaction plays an important role in electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction(OER).However,precise achievement of DE interaction often requires foreign dopants or vacancy engineering,leading to destabilization of the catalysts and deterioration of *** contrast,the utilization of environmentally friendly,contactless,and continuously adjustable magnetic fields to study the OER process is profitable to avoid aforementioned interference factors and further elucidate the direct relationship_(0.5)between DE interaction and OER ***,by using cobalt hydroxide carbonate(Co(OH)(CO_(3))·xH_(2)O,CoHC) nanostructures as a proof-of-concept study,external magnetic fields are carefully implemented to verify the role of DE interaction during water oxidation *** studies reveal that external magnetic fields effectively enhance the reaction rate of the catalyst,the overpotential decreases from 386 to 355 mV(100 mA·cm^(-2)),while Tafel slopes drastically decline from 93 to 67 mV·dec^(-1)(1.0 T).Moreover,magnetic field increment exhibits robust *** in situ Raman and impedance measurements under external field,it can be found that magnetic field promotes the electron migration between Co^(2+) and Co^(3+) in the CoHC catalysts with the assistance of DE interactions,thus boosting the OER efficiency.

The tip-clearance flow in a pump-jet propulsor exerts great impacts on the fluctuating pressures and resultant unsteady forces,which are important sources of structural vibrations and radiated noise *** blade geometry close to the tip is an important factor determining the vortex strength in the tip-clearance *** the open-water condition,the effects of raking the rotor tips on the duct-surface fluctuating pressures and the resultant unsteady forces acting on different components of the propulsor are investiga.ed via physical model experiments and the numerical solution of Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)equations coupled with the SST k-ωturbulence *** measured and simulated results of hydrodynamic pressures are consistent to each other,and the simulated flows help better understand why the fluctuating pressures change with the tip *** strong fluctuations of duct-surface pressures are caused by intensive tip separation *** duct-surface pressure fluctuations are effectively reduced by using the rake distribution near the tip towards blade back side and,for the combination of the five-bladed rotor and the seven-bladed stator,the resultant unsteady horizontal(and vertical)forces acting on the duct and stator are also reduced;while increasing rake leads to nega.ive effect on pressure fluctuations and unsteady horizontal(and vertical)forces acting on all the components of the propulsor.
