Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent cell death pathway that is different from apoptosis,pyroptosis,and necrosis.The main characteristics of ferroptosis are the Fenton reaction mediated by intracellular free divalent iron ions,lipid peroxidation of cell membrane lipids,and inhibition of the anti-lipid peroxidation activity of intracellular glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4).Recent studies have shown that ferroptosis can be involved in the pathological processes of many disorders,such as ischemia-reperfusion injury,nervous system diseases,and blood diseases.However,the specific mechanisms by which ferroptosis participates in the occurrence and development of acute leukemia still need to be more fully and deeply studied.This article reviews the characteristics of ferroptosis and the regulatory mechanisms promoting or inhibiting ferroptosis.More importantly,it further discusses the role of ferroptosis in acute leukemia and predicts a change in treatment strategy brought about by increased knowledge of the role of ferroptosis in acute leukemia.

Building a new power system with new energy as the main body is an important means of achieving the goal of carbon neutrality.Compared with the traditional power system,the new power system has great changes and challenges in its safety mechanism and balance mechanism.Based on this,this paper focuses on the changes in the characteristics,functions and technologies of the new power system from the three sides of the source network and load.On this basis,the challenges faced by the high proportion of new-energy power systems are summarized from six aspects:reliability,stability,economy,data intelligence,flexibility and synergy.Finally,corresponding countermeasures,solutions and suggestions are put forward for the challenges of reliability,stability,economy,data intellectualization,flexibility and synergy,which provide ideas for the power guarantee of the new power system.

Dr.Richard Ho-Ping Sia(谢和平)was bom in Xiamen(Amoy)on 28 April 1895.After graduating from Boone University in Wuchang in 1914,he went to the Medical School of Westerm Reserve University in Cleveland,USA,to study clinical medicine,and received his MD degree in 1918.After completing 1-year clinical rotation training at Cleveland City Hospital,he returmed to China in 1919 and joined Peking Union Medical College(PUMC)Hospital as an Assistant Resident.He was promoted to Assistant in 1920,and then worked as a physician treating infectious diseases in the Department of Medicine of PUMC Hospital.

Internal solitary waves(ISW),characterized by large amplitude and long propagation distance,are widespread in global oceans.While remote sensing images have played an essential role in studying ISWs,they mainly exploit two-dimensional image information.However,with the launch of the surface water ocean topography(SWOT)satellite on December 16,2022,a unique opportunity has emerged to capture wide-swath three-dimensional ISW-induced sea surface information.In this study,we examine ISWs in the Andaman Sea using data from the Ka-band Radar Interferometer(KaRIN),a crucial sensor onboard SWOT.KaRIN not only provides backscattering satellite images but also employs synthetic aperture interferometry techniques to retrieve wide-swath two-dimensional sea surface height measurements.Our observations in the Andaman Sea revealed the presence of ISWs characterized by dark-bright strips and surface elevation solitons.The surface soliton has an amplitude of 0.32 m,resulting in an estimation of ISW amplitude of approximately 60 m.In contrast to traditional two-dimensional satellite images or nadir-looking altimetry data,the SWOT mission’s capability to capture threedimensional sea surface information represents a significant advancement.This breakthrough holds substantial promise for ISW studies,particularly in the context of ISW amplitude inversion.

The structure and characteristics of high-performance lightweight aggregates produced by high-carbon gasification slag were investigated by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,thermogravimetry/differential thermogravimetr,differential scanning calorimetry-Fourier transform infrared,and mercury intrusion porosimetry,respectively.The experimental results show that the ceramsite undergoes two weightless stages in the calcining process.With the increase in the calcining temperature,a large number of pores are formed inside the ceramsite,its structure becomes denser,but the calcining temperature band of the ceramsite becomes narrow.The crystalline phase of the ceramsite changes at different calcining temperatures and the mineral phase changes from the earlieralbite,quartz,oligoclase,hematite,etc,to a silica-aluminum-rich glass phase.The 1130℃ is a more suitable calcining temperature,and the cylinder compressive strength of ceramics is 11.59 MPa,the packing density,apparent density,porosity,and water absorption are 939.11 kg/m^(3),1643.75 kg/m^(3),28.11%,and 10.35%,respectively,which can meet the standards for high-strength lightweight aggregates.

Pore Formation Mechanism in W-C Hard Coatings Using Directed Energy Deposition on Tungsten Alloy

Porosity is a common phenomenon and can significantly hinder the quality of the coating.Here,the pore formation mechanism and the characteristics of the single tracks of the W-C coating using directed energy deposition(DED)are systematically investigated.The forming quality of the tracks,the distribution of the pores,and the elemental distribution near the pores are analyzed by the observations of the cross-sections of the tracks.The temperature field of the melt pool is discussed comprehensively to reveal the pore formation mechanism.The results confirm that Ni and Co evaporated during the DED process due to the high temperature of the melt pool.Pores were continuously produced adjacent to the fusion line when the melt pool was about to solidify since the temperature at the solidification front was higher than the boiling point of Ni.The vaporization area at the fusion line was proposed,where Ni could also evaporate at the time the melt pool started to solidify.The relationship between the solidification rate,the size of the vaporization area and the DED parameters(laser power and scanning speed)was established to discuss the causes of severe pores above the fusion line.This work contains a practical guide to reduce or eliminate the porosity in the coating preparation process on the surface of the tungsten alloy.
