Dynamic spillovers between the term structure of interest rates,bitcoin,and safe‑haven currencies

This study examines the connectedness between the US yield curve components(i.e.,level,slope,and curvature),exchange rates,and the historical volatility of the exchange rates of the main safe-haven fiat currencies(Canada,Switzerland,EURO,Japan,and the UK)and the leading cryptocurrency,the *** of the static analysis show that the level and slope of the yield curve are net transmitters of shocks to both the exchange rate and its *** exchange rate of the Euro and the volatility of the Euro and the Canadian dollar exchange rate are net transmitters of ***,the curvature of the yield curve and the Japanese Yen,Swiss Franc,and British Pound act mainly as net *** static connectedness analysis shows that Bitcoin is mainly independent of shocks from the yield curve’s level,slope,and curvature,and from any main currency *** findings hint that Bitcoin might provide hedging ***,similar to the static analysis,our dynamic analysis shows that during different periods and particularly in stressful times,Bitcoin is far from being isolated from other currencies or the yield curve *** dynamic analysis allows us to observe Bitcoin’s connectedness in times of *** supporting this contention is the substantially increased connectedness due to policy shocks,political uncertainty,and systemic crisis,implying no empirical support for Bitcoin’s safe-haven property during stress *** increased connectedness in the dynamic analysis compared with the static approach implies that in normal times and especially in stressful times,Bitcoin has the property of a *** results may have important implications for investors and policymakers regarding their risk monitoring and their assets allocation and investment strategies.

Extreme dependencies and spillovers between gold and stock markets:evidence from MENA countries

This study addresses whether gold exhibits the function of a hedge or safe haven as often referred to in *** contributes to the existing literature by(i)revisiting this question for the principal stock markets in the Middle East and North Africa(MENA)region and(ii)using the copula-quantile-on-quantile and conditional value at risk methods to detail the risks facing market participants provided with accurate information about various gold and stock market scenarios(i.e.,bear,normal,bull).The results provide strong evidence of quantile dependence between gold and stock *** correlations are found between MENA gold and stock markets when both are ***,when stock returns are bearish,gold markets show negative correlations with MENA stock *** risk spillover from gold to stock markets intensified during the global financial and European *** the risk spillover between gold and stock markets,investors in MENA markets should be careful when considering gold as a safe haven because its effectiveness as a hedge is not the same in all MENA stock *** and portfolio managers should rebalance their portfolio compositions under various gold and stock market ***,such precise insights about the heterogeneous linkages and spillovers between gold and MENA stock returns provide potential input for developing effective hedging strategies and optimal portfolio allocations.

This study investigates tail dependence among five major cryptocurrencies,namely Bitcoin,Ethereum,Litecoin,Ripple,and Bitcoin Cash,and uncertainties in the gold,oil,and equity *** the cross-quantilogram method and quantile connectedness approach,we identify cross-quantile interdependence between the analyzed *** results show that the spillover between cryptocurrencies and volatility indices for the major traditional markets varies substantially across quantiles,implying that diversification benefits for these assets may differ widely across normal and extreme market *** normal market conditions,the total connectedness index is moderate and falls below the elevated values observed under bearish and bullish market ***,we show that under all market conditions,cryptocurrencies have a leadership influence over the volatility *** results have important policy implications for enhancing financial stability and deliver valuable insights for deploying volatility-based financial instruments that can potentially provide cryptocurrency investors with suitable hedges,as we show that cryptocurrency and volatility markets are insignificantly(weakly)connected under normal(extreme)market conditions.

We examine the dynamics of liquidity connectedness in the cryptocurrency *** use the connectedness models of Diebold and Yilmaz(Int J Forecast 28(1):57–66,2012)and Baruník and Křehlík(J Financ Econom 16(2):271–296,2018)on a sample of six major cryptocurrencies,namely,Bitcoin(BTC),Litecoin(LTC),Ethereum(ETH),Ripple(XRP),Monero(XMR),and *** static analysis reveals a moderate liquidity connectedness among our sample cryptocurrencies,whereas BTC and LTC play a significant role in connectedness magnitude.A distinct liquidity cluster is observed for BTC,LTC,and XRP,and ETH,XMR,and Dash also form another distinct liquidity *** frequency domain analysis reveals that liquidity connectedness is more pronounced in the short-run time horizon than the medium-and long-run time *** the short run,BTC,LTC,and XRP are the leading contributor to liquidity shocks,whereas,in the long run,ETH assumes this *** with the medium term,a tight liquidity clustering is found in the short and long *** time-varying analysis indicates that liquidity connectedness in the cryptocurrency market increases over time,pointing to the possible effect of rising demand and higher acceptability for this unique ***,more pronounced liquidity connectedness patterns are observed over the short and long run,reinforcing that liquidity connectedness in the cryptocurrency market is a phenomenon dependent on the time–frequency connectedness.

Biodiesels produced from various feedstocks have been considered as alternative fuels used in internal combustion engines without major *** research focuses on producing biodiesel from waste cooking oil(WCOSD)by the catalytic cracking method using MgO as the catalyst and comparing the engine operating characteristics of the test engine when using WCOSD and traditional diesel(CD)as test *** a result,the brake power of the test engine fueled WCOSD,and traditional diesel is ***,the engine fuel consumption in the case of using WCOSD is slight increases in some operating ***,the nitrogen oxides emissions of the test engine fueled WCOSD are higher than those of CD at all tested *** trend is opposite for hydrocarbon emission as the HC emission of the engine fueled by WCOSD reduces 26.3%on *** smoke emission of the test engine in case of using WCOSD is lower 17%on average than that of ***,the carbon monoxide emissions are lower at the low and medium loads and higher at the full *** results show that the new biodiesel has the same characteristics as those of commercial biodiesel and can be used as fuel for diesel engines.

Electro-hydraulic actuators(EHA)have recently played a signiﬁcant role in modern industrial applications,especially in systems requiring extremely high *** can be explained by EHA’s ability to precisely control the position and force through advanced sensors and innovative control *** of the promising approaches to improve control accuracy for EHA systems is applying classical to modern control algorithms,in which the proportional–inte-gral–derivative(PID)algorithm,fuzzy logic controller,and a hybrid of these methods are popular *** this paper,we developed a novel version of the fuzzy control algorithm and linear feedback control method,namely fuzzy lin-ear feedback control,to improve the control *** achieve the highest performance,weﬁrst designed a mathematical EHA model based on the Matlab/Simulink software packages thanks to the selected parameters,which are similar to a real EHA ***,we respectively applied PID,fuzzy PID(FPID),and fuzzy linear feedback control(FLFC)before comparing them to have a full view of the outstanding advantages of the proposed *** simulation results showed that the proposed FLFC algorithm is approximately 99%and 77%super-ior in performance to the PID and feedback control algorithms,respectively.

Religion is one of the social entities that has had a significant impact on the *** study’s goals are to investigate the relationship between well-being and fear of COVID-19,as well as to test whether religious beliefs mediate the effect of wellbeing on fear of *** sample comprised of 433 participants in *** Sample t-Test,One-way ANOVA,mediation analysis were used to analyze the *** the levels of well-being,individuals who engage in religious services daily have higher levels than those hardly and never attend,and people from the age of 18 to 30 have higher levels than individuals from 31 to above 60 *** addition,people aged from 51 to above 60 have higher levels of religious beliefs than people aged from 18 to *** experience more fear of COVID-19 compared to *** latter illustrates that religious beliefs mediate the effect of well-being on fear of *** workers and clinicians must prioritize older adults and people with chronic diseases for early mental interventions,and they should be aware of the role of religion in psychological treatment integration.

Research on Cassava Drying, Application and Promotion of the Reversible Airflow Flatbed Dryers for Sliced Cassava

The study was conducted by researchers of the Research Center for Agricultural Energy and Machinery （CAEM） of the Ho Chi Minh City Nong Lam University （NLU） with the objectives of researching on drying ways for cassava and of evaluating the adaptability of the reversible-airflow dryers in drying of cassava. The results obtained were as follows： done with thin-layer drying experiments, deep-layer drying experiments in the lab, and conducted drying experiments at the cassava dryer in actual production scale with two capacity sizes of 8 tons/batch and 16 tons/batch, that operates based on principle of reversible-airflow drying （SRA dryers）. By the means of drying experiments, the performance of the SRA dryers such as optimal drying temperature, drying time, drying airflow reversal timing, moisture content uniformity of the sliced cassava mass after finishing drying process, drying cost, etc. was defined, the optimal drying temperature was 70 ~C, the total actual drying time for finishing one batch was 25-28 hours, applicable time for drying airflow reversal was after drying 16 hours since startup, the deviation in moisture content of the cassava mass after drying was just 2%-3%, the drying costs （per one kg of dried cassava） calculated were in turns VND407/kg at the SRA-8 dryer （8 tons/batch）, and VND351/kg at the SRA-16 dryer （16 tons/batch）. Obviously, comparing with the sale price of dry cassava at present, these levels of drying cost are accounting for 7%-10%, which are suitable and acceptable. Thus, investment of the dryers for sliced cassava would be effective and contribute to bring more income for Vietnamese cassava farmers and dryer end-users.

In this paper,by combining the inertial technique and the gradient descent method with Polyak's stepsizes,we propose a novel inertial self-adaptive gradient algorithm to solve the split feasi-bility problem in Hilbert spaces and prove some strong and weak convergence theorems of our method under standard *** examine the performance of our method on the sparse recovery prob-lem beside an example in an infinite dimensional Hilbert space with synthetic data and give some numerical results to show the potential applicability of the proposed method and comparisons with related methods emphasize it further.

Research on Using IMRT Plan for Preoperative Rectal Cancer Patients

Aims: Research the possibility of using IMRT for rectal cancer patients in preoperative radiotherapy. Methods and Material: The research object is the preoperative radiotherapy plan for rectal cancer patients. The research group made two plans (IMRT, 3DCRT) for each image series of 34 rectal cancer patients who have received preoperative radiotherapy in Hanoi Oncology Hospital;and then compared the dose distribution on PTV, bladder, intestine, femoral bones, the average MU, and QA results of two types of plan. Results: The 95% isodose line and 50% isodose of IMRT plan are closer than those of 3DCRT plan. The average dose of PTV in IMRT plan and 3DCRT plan are 5006 ± 23 cGy and 5036 ± 42 cGy, respectively. The HTCI and HI values of IMRT and 3D plan are 0.97 ± 0.026 and 5.37 ± 1.32;1.00 ± 0.003 and 7.08 ± 0.88. About the dose of organ at risk: The maximum dose, average dose on the right, left femoral head in the IMRT plan are less than those values in the 3DCRT plan (6.2 Gy, 6 Gy, 7.4 Gy, 9 Gy, respectively). The maximum dose and average dose on the bladder of the IMRT plan are smaller than those values of the 3DCRT plan (5.3 Gy, 1.5 times, respectively). The maximum dose and average dose of intestine in the IMRT plan was less than those values in the 3DCRT plan (4.3 Gy, 1.54 times, respectively). The MU number of IMRT plan is 1.5 times bigger than that of 3DCRT plan. Gamma index of IMRT plan is better than that of 3DCRT plan (99% compared with 97%). Conclusions: Using IMRT plan in preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer patients can still ensure covered PTV as well as the 3D PLAN. Furthermore, the dose of PTV in the IMRT plan is more uniform than those in the 3D plan, and the dose effect on the OAR surrounding PTV is much lower than when using the 3D plan. When IMRT plan were used to treat the preoperative rectal cancer patients, the LINAC took more time than when using 3DCRT plan.
