Inhibitory Effects of Ginsenoside Rb1 on Apoptosis Caused by HSV-1 in Human Glioma Cells

To investigate the inhibitory effects of Ginsenoside Rbl （GRbl） on apoptosis caused by Herpes Simplex Virus-1 （HSV-1） in Human Glioma Cells （U251）, U251 cells were infected by HSV-1 at a multiplicity of infection of 5 and GRbl, GRbl＋HSV-1, HSV-1 and control groups. MTT and cell apoptosis assays were used to detect the inhibitory effects of GRbl on the apoptosis of U251 cells that caused by HSV-1 infection for various concentrations of drug and virus treatments by MTT assay. We found that in the 400 μg/mL GRb 1 and 400 μg/mL GRbl＋HSV-1 groups, MTT values were higher than control group at all times （P〈0.05）. Moreover, the apoptosis rate in the 400 μg/mL GRbl＋HSV-1 group was lower than the HSV-1 group （P〈0. 05）. These results confirmed that, at appropriate concentrations, GRbl could inhibit nerve cell apoptosis in HSV-1 infections.

Study of the Distribution Patterns of the Constituent Herbs in Classical Chinese Medicine Prescriptions Treating Respiratory Disease by Data Mining Methods

Objective： To provide the distribution pattern and compatibility laws of the constituent herbs in prescriptions, for doctor＇s convenience to make decision in choosing correct herbs and prescriptions for treating respiratory disease. Methods： Classical prescriptions treating respiratory disease were selected from authoritative prescription books. Data mining methods （frequent itemsets and association rules） were used to analyze the regular patterns and compatibility laws of the constituent herbs in the selected prescriptions. Results： A total of 562 prescriptions were selected to be studied. The result exhibited that, Radix g/ycyrrhizae was the most frequently used in 47.2% prescriptions, other frequently used were Semen armeniacae amarum, Fructus schisandrae Chinese, Herba ephedrae, and Radix ginseng. Herbal ephedrae was always coupled with Semen armeniacae amarum with the confidence of 73.3%, and many herbs were always accompanied by Radix g/ycyrrhizae with high confidence. More over, Fructus schisandrae Chinese, Herba ephedrae and Rhizoma pinelliae was most commonly used to treat cough, dyspnoea and associated sputum respectively besides Radix glycyrrhizae and Semen armeniacae amarum. The prescriptions treating dyspnoea often used double herb group of Herba ephedrae ＆ Radix glycyrrhizae, while prescriptions treating sputum often used double herb group of Rhizoma pinel/iae ＆ Radix glycyrrhizae and Rhizoma pinelliae ＆ Semen armeniacae amarum, triple herb groups of Rhizoma pinelliae ＆ Semen armeniacae amarum ＆ Radix glycyrrhizae and Pericarpium citri reticu/atae ＆ Rhizoma pine/liae ＆ Radix glycyrrhizae. Couclusioas： The prescriptions treating respiratory disease showed common compatibility laws in using herbs and special compatibility laws for treating different respiratory symptoms. These principle patterns and special compatibility laws reported here could be useful for doctors to choose correct herbs and prescriptions in treating respiratory disease.

Human cytomegalovirus （HCMV） is the most common cause of congenital infection, resulting in birth defects such as microcephaly. In this study, RT-PCR and Western Blotting were performed to quantify the regulation of endogenic nerve growth factor expression in neuroglia ceils by HCMV infection. The results showed that basal, endogenous NGF expression in U251 was unchanged during early HCMV infection. NGF expression is strongly down-regulated during the latent phase of infection. These results suggest that HCMV can depress the NGF expression in U251 cells.

Although guided image filtering(GIF) is known for preserving edges and fast computation,it may produce inaccurate outputs in depth map *** this paper,a novel confidence-weighted GIF called mutual-structure weighted GIF(MSWGIF) is proposed,which replaces the mean filtering strategy in GIF during handling overlapping *** confidence value is composed of a depth term and a mutual-structure term,where the depth term is utilized to protect the edges of the output,and the mutual-structure term helps to select accurate windows during the structure characteristics of the guidance image are transferred to the *** results show that MSWGIF reduces the root mean square error(RMSE) by an average of 12.37%,and the average growth rate of correlation(CORR) is 0.07% on ***,the average growth rate of structure similarity index measure(SSIM) is 0.34%.

The stability of matrix graphite under neutron irradiation and in corrosive environments is crucial for the safe operation of molten salt reactors(MSRs).Raman spectroscopy and a slow positron beam were employed to investigate the effects of He ion irradiation fluences and subsequent annealing on the microstructure and defects of the matrix *** ions with 500 keV energy and fluences ranging from 1.1×10^(15)ions∕cm^(2)to 3.5×10^(17)ions∕cm^(2)were used to simulate neutron irradiation at 300 *** samples with an irradiation fluence of 3.5×10^(16)ions∕cm^(2)were subjected to isochronal annealing at different temperatures(573 K,873 K and 1173 K)for 3 *** Raman results revealed that the D peak gradually increased,whereas the intrinsic G peak decreased with increasing irradiation *** the same irradiation fluence,the D peak gradually decreased,whereas the intrinsic G peak increased with increasing annealing *** positron beam analysis demonstrated that the density or size of irradiation defects(vacancy type)increased with higher irradiation fluence,but decreased rapidly with increasing annealing *** Raman spectral analysis of sample cross sections subjected to high irradiation fluences revealed the emergence of amorphization precisely at the depth where ion damage was most pronounced,whereas the surface retained its crystalline *** and positron annihilation analyses indicated that the matrix graphite exhibited good irradiation resistance to He ions at 300 ***,vacancy-type defects induced by He ion irradiation exhibit poor thermal stability and can be easily removed during annealing.

The efficient separation of fission products,such as TcO_(4)^(-)and I^(-),holds strategic significance for the management of radioactive wastes and environmental *** this study,we propose an ultrafast strategy for scalable preparation of a highly quaternized organic network to facilitate efficient and synchronous separation of iodide and *** network can be prepared within a few minutes at room temperature,using polyethylenimine and 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(bromomethyl)benzene as building *** chlorine replacement,the network,abundantly decorated with quaternary ammonium groups(Cl@QPN),exhibits an ultrahigh positive charge density of 7.6 mmol/*** enables the rapid and efficient enrichment of target anions through strong electrostatic Coulomb *** a result,Cl@QPN exhibits significantly higher adsorption rate constants of 0.830 g/(mg min)for ReO_(4)^(-)(a nonradioactive surrogate of TcO_(4)^(-))and 0.677 g/(mg min)for I-compared to other ***,it possesses high adsorption capacities,reaching 1,681 mg/g for ReO_(4)^(-)and 917.4 mg/g for I-.Cl@QPN also demonstrates good selectivity towards target ions and shows efficient adsorption for^(99)TcO_(4)^(-).Additionally,Cl@QPN exhibits high dynamic processing capacities,handling up to 3,100 and 7,400 kg of simulated streams per kilogram of material for I-and ReO_(4)^(-),respectively.

Deep rock is under a complex geological environment with high geo-stress, high pore pressure, and strong dynamic disturbance. Understanding the dynamic response of rocks under coupled hydraulic-mechanical loading is thus essential in evaluating the stability and safety of subterranean engineering structures. Nevertheless, the constraints in experimental techniques have led to limited prior investigations into the dynamic compression behavior of rocks subjected to simultaneous high in-situ stress and pore pressure conditions. This study utilizes a triaxial split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system in conjunction with a pore pressure loading cell to conduct dynamic experiments on rocks subjected to hydraulic-mechanical loading. A porous green sandstone (GS) was adopted as the testing rock material. The findings reveal that the dynamic behavior of rock specimens is significantly influenced by multiple factors, including the loading rate, confining stress, and pore pressure. Specifically, the dynamic compressive strength of GS exhibits an increase with higher loading rates and greater confining pressures, while it decreases with elevated pore pressure. Moreover, the classical Ashby-Sammis micromechanical model was augmented to account for dynamic loading and pore pressure considerations. By deducing the connection between crack length and damage evolution, the resulting law of crack expansion rate is related to the strain rate. In addition, the influence of hydraulic factors on the stress intensity factor at the crack tip is introduced. Thereby, a dynamic constitutive model for deep rocks under coupled hydraulic-mechanical loading was established and then validated against the experimental results. Subsequently, the characteristics of introduced parameter for quantifying the water-induced effects were carefully discussed.
