Added value of shear-wave elastography in the prediction of extracapsular extension and seminal vesicle invasion before radical prostatectomy

The purpose of this study was to analyze the value of transrectal shear-wave elastography(SWE)in combination with multivariable tools for predicting adverse pathological features before radical prostatectomy(RP).Preoperative clinicopathological variables,multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging(mp-MRI)manifestations,and the maximum elastic value of the prostate(Emax)on SWE were retrospectively *** accuracy of SWE for predicting adverse pathological features was evaluated based on postoperative pathology,and parameters with statistical significance were *** diagnostic performance of various models,including preoperative clinicopathological variables(model 1),preoperative clinicopathological variables+mp-MRI(model 2),and preoperative clinicopathological variables+mp-MRI+SWE(model 3),was evaluated with area under the receiver operator characteristic curve(AUC)*** was significantly higher in prostate cancer with extracapsular extension(ECE)or seminal vesicle invasion(SVI)with both P<*** optimal cutoff Emax values for ECE and SVI were 60.45 kPa and 81.55 kPa,*** of mp-MRI and SWE improved discrimination by clinical models for ECE(model 2 vs model 1,P=0.031;model 3 vs model 1,P=0.002;model 3 vs model 2,P=0.018)and SVI(model 2 vs model 1,P=0.147;model 3 vs model 1,P=0.037;model 3 vs model 2,P=0.134).SWE is valuable for identifying patients at high risk of adverse pathology.

Lactic Acid Reduces LPS-Induced TNF-a and IL-6 mRNA Levels Through Decreasing I?Ba Phosphorylation

This study explored the effects over time of lactic acid （LA） on IκBα phosphorylation and nuclear factor-kappa B （NF-κB） p65 protein expression, and on tumor necrosis factor a （TNF-α） and interleukin-6 （IL-6） mRNA levels in rat intestinal mucosa microvascular endothelial cells （RIMMVECs） stimulated by lipopolysaccharide （LPS）. I？Ba, phosphorylated IκBa （p-IκBa） and p65 protein levels were monitored by Western blot analysis, and TNF-a and IL-6 mRNA levels were analyzed using real-time PCR. LA treatment reduced TNF-a and IL-6 mRNA levels in LPS-stimulated RIMMVECs, with the greatest effect being after 3 h. The highest inhibitory effect of LA on IκBa phosphorylation to prevent activation of NF-κB was after 6 h. These results suggest that LA reduces TNF-a and IL-6 mRNA levels through decreasing IκBa phosphorylation and blocking the dissociation of IKK complex, which prevents activation of NF-κB.

X-Ray Properties of the Point Source Population in the Spiral Galaxy NGC 5055 (M63) with Chandra

Using Chandra ACIS S3 data we studied the X-ray properties of low-and highmass X-ray binary populations in the nearby spiral galaxy NGC 5055. A total of 43 X-ray point sources were detected within two effective radii, with 31 sources located on the disk and the rest 12 sources in the bulge. The resolved point sources dominate the X-ray emission of the galaxy, accounting for about 80% of the total counts in 0.3-10keV. From spectral fittings we calculated the 0.3-10.0keV luminosities of all the detected X-ray point sources and found that they span a wide range from a few times 10^37 erg s^-1 to over 10^39 erg s^-1. After compensating for incompleteness at the low luminosity end, we found that the corrected XLF of the bulge population is well fitted with a broken power-law with a break at 1.57-0.20^＋0.21 1038 erg s^-1, while the profile of the disk population＇s XLF agrees with a single powerlaw distribution of slope 0 9-0.06^＋0.07 The disk population is significantly richer at ≥ 2 × 10^38 erg s^- 1 than the bulge population, indicating that the disk may have undergone relatively recent, strong starbursts that significantly increased the HMXB population, although ongoing starbursts are also observed in the nuclear region. Similar XLF profiles of the bulge and disk populations were found in M81. However, in most other spiral galaxies different patterns of spatial variation of the XLF profiles from the bulge to the disk have been observed, indicating that the star formation and evolution history may be more complex than we have expected.

Composition Optimization of Nb-Ti Microalloyed High Strength Steel

Four Nb-Ti microalloyed steels were refined and rolled to study the composition optimization of Nb-Ti microalloyed steels. The effects of Nb and Ti on the microstructures, precipitates and properties of Nb-Ti microalloyed steel were investigated. The results showed that an increase in Ti content resulted in the appearance of many fine precipitates leading to a strong precipitation strengthening effect. Hence, the yield strength increased. Besides, the increased strength by the combined increase of Nb and Ti was similar to that observed for the increase in Ti content alone. This increase in strength was attributed widely to the increase in the Ti content alone rather than Nb. Moreover, the increase in Nb content beyond 0.036 wt% exerted no significant effect on the strength of Ti-Nb microalloyed steels, in which more Ti could be added to further improve the strength of steels.

Inhibitory effect of tenomodulin versus ranibizumab on in vitro angiogenesis

AIM： To evaluate anti-angiogenic effect of tenomodulin （TNMD） and ranibizumab on cell proliferation and capillary- like morphogenesis of vascular endothelial cells under the stimulation of vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） in vitro. METHODS： The effects of TNMD and ranibizumab on VEGF-induced proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells （HUVECs） were evaluated by MTT assay, and the effects of TNMD and ranibizumab on capillary- like structures formed by HUVECs under the stimulation of VEGF were examined in culture. Capillary-like morphogenesis of HUVECs was quantitatively evaluated, and total lengths of tube-like structures per field were measured in a masked way. RESULTS： HUVECs with both ranibizumab and TNMD protein showed MTT reduction in VEGF-stimulated cell proliferation as expected, while MTT absorbance in the HUVECs with TNMD was significantly declined than that with ranibizumab （P〈O.01）. The capillary-like structures formed by HUVECs were markedly impaired by the presence of both TNMD and ranibizumab in the culture medium. The total length of the capillary-like structures per field was significantly shorter in the medium with TNMD than that of ranibizumab （P〈0.01）. The inhibitory effect of TNMD on tube formation in vitro angiogenesis was significantly stronger than that of ranibizumab. CONCLUSION： TNMD may have stronger inhibitory effect than ranibizumab on in vitro angiogenesis.

Full-endoscopic spine surgery treatment of lumbar foraminal stenosis after osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures:A case report

BACKGROUND Few reports have described lumbar foraminal stenosis-induced radiculopathy after treatment by full-endoscopic spine surgery(FESS)combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP)in patients with vertebral compression *** herein report such a case,including the patient’s treatment process and doctor’s surgical *** SUMMARY A 79-year-old man presented with symptoms of radiculopathy after sustaining L4 vertebral compression *** and physical examination revealed L4 vertebral compression fractures combined with L3/4 Lumbar foraminal stenosis(LFS).The patient’s symptoms were low back pain with pain in the lateral left *** many reports have described radiculopathy induced by osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures,the use of FESS combined with PVP has rarely been *** case report indicates that the combination of FESS and PVP is a safe and effective approach for the treatment of LFS-induced radiculopathy after vertebral compression *** minimally invasive technique has great potential to replace traditional lumbar fixation and decompression ***,we suggest the continued accumulation of similar cases to discuss the wider application of *** For patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF)and LFS,PVP and FESS can be used to restore the vertebral height and reduce the pressure around the intervertebral ***,the combination of FESS and PVP can treat the pain or numbness of the low back and lower limbs and allow for recovery in a short time with excellent postoperative *** general,FESS is a good treatment for radiculopathy caused by foraminal stenosis after OVCF.

The title complex was synthesized and its structure was determined. The crystal is mon- oclinic with space group P2_1/n. Unit cell parameters are as follows: a=16.474(8), b=12.425(4), c=20.844(12), β=109.27(4)°, Z=4. In each dimer, the two Nd atoms are connected through two pairs of bridging neopentanoate anions. The two carboxyl groups in each pair are in opposite position to Nd atom which are coplanar with them and the two planes are perpendicular with each other. In the complex each Nd atom is further coordinated with three neopentanoic acid molecules and one monodentate neopentanoate anion. The central atom is octa-coordinated in a square- antiprism arrangement.

Research progress of carbon-based particle electrodes in three-dimensional electrode reactors for wastewater treatment

Three-dimensional(3D) electrode technology is a competitive water treatment technology owing to its high catalytic efficiency, low energy consumption, and promising development. The introduction of a third electrode on the basis of a 2D electrode system forms a 3D electrode system, and the introduced third electrode is also known as the particle electrode. Particle electrodes in3D electrode system are generally in the form of particles or crumbs that be filled in between the cathode and anode. The core of the3D electrode system is the particle electrode, so the selection of particle electrode materials is the focus of the research of 3D electrode technology. Carbon-based materials are widely used as particle electrodes in 3D electrode technology because of their advantages of large specific surface area, good adsorption performance, high chemical stability, and low price. In this review, the research progress of carbon-based materials as particle electrodes for degrading organic pollutants in recent years is collected, the principle of3D electrode technology is introduced, along with the classification of particle electrodes and the current research status of carbonbased particle electrodes, and the challenges and future development of carbon-based particle electrodes in wastewater treatment are summarized.
