Integrated sensor system for monitoring rice growth conditions based on unmanned ground vehicle system

Ground-based platform systems provide a good tool for monitoring and managing crop conditions in precision agriculture applications and have been widely used for monitoring crop *** develop an unmanned ground vehicle system(UGVS)based multi-sensors and test the feasibility of this system for monitoring rice conditions,an UGVS was developed to collect real-time rice condition information including NDVI values,reflectance measurements and crop canopy temperature in this *** components of the integrated system are GreenSeeker R100 system,hyper-spectroradiometer and infrared temperature *** leaf area index(LAI)was measured by the CGMD302 *** Independent Samples T-Test method and the one way ANOVA method were used to determine the best spectral indices and analyze the relationship between the vegetation indices and rice *** was found that the two best spectral indices for estimating LAI were NDVI(860 nm and 750 nm)with the correlation coefficient(R^(2))at 0.745 and RVI(853 nm and 751 nm)with the R^(2)at *** results show the UGVS can support multi-source information acquisition and is useful for crop management and precision agriculture applications.

In order to meet the agronomy demand for hybrid rice direct seeding,a novel precise pneumatic rice seed metering device was designed with groups of sucking holes plate,by which 3-4 seeds could be synchronously sucked and synchronously dropped into the paddy *** plate was divided into five sections:seed sucking,seed clearing,seed carrying,seed dropping,and blank *** seeds were sucked in sucking section by the vacuum,carried and rotated to the dropping section with the plate,blown away in dropping section by the positive pressure air,and thrown into the dropping *** influences of the hole diameter,vacuum degree,and clear-up equipment on precision of metering device were *** were conducted to investigate the seeding precision and simulate the field emergence rates on the indoor seeding *** subjects were pregnant Indic hybrid Peizataifeng under two kinds of moisture content(23.43%and 26.07%).Other experiment conditions included the vacuum degree of 2.60 kPa,the rotation speed of seed sucking plate of 30 r/min,three sucking holes with a diameter of 1.6 mm,and the seed layer thickness of 25 *** seeding results showed that,in condition of no more than two seeds per hill,the emergence probabilities under the two moisture contents were 11.82%and 11.95%,respectively,and in condition of 3-4 seeds per hill,the results were 64.81%and 65.84%,*** 2-5 seeds per hill,the results were 92.08%and 92.60%,*** the emergence probability was 80%,under the two moisture contents,the no seed per hill probabilities were 1.33%and 0.80%respectively;the probabilities with 3-4 seeds per hill were 56.13%and 56.40%respectively;the probabilities with 5 or more seeds per hill were 10.67%and 10.13%respectively;the probabilities with 2-5 seeds per hill were 87.60%and 88.13%*** results showed the simulated experiment was an efficient and economic method to assess the capability of pneumatic rice seed drilling metering

Paddy field management is complicated and labor *** row detection is important to automatically track rice *** this study,a novel method was proposed for accurate rice row recognition in paddy field transplanted by machine before the disappearance of row ***,Bayesian decision theory based on the minimum error was used to classify the period of collected images into three periods(T1:0-7 d;T2:7-28 d;T3:28-45 d),and resulting in the correct recognition rate was 97.03%.Moreover,secondary clustering of feature points was proposed,which can solve some problems such as row breaking and ***,the robust regression least squares method(RRLSM)for linear fitting was proposed to fit rice rows to effectively eliminate interference by ***,a credibility analysis of connected region markers was proposed to evaluate the accuracy of fitting *** the threshold of credibility was set at 40%,the correct recognition rate of fitting lines was 96.32%.The result showed that the method can effectively solve the problems caused by the presence of duckweed,high-density inter-row weeds,broken rows,tilting(±60°),wind and overlap.

Lodging Resistance Related to Root Traits for Mechanized Wet-Seeding of Two Super Rice Cultivars

Mechanical hill wet-seeded rice machine is beneficial for establishing and growing uniform rows of ***,there is limited knowledge regarding the effects of the establishment of furrows on growth,lodging and yield,and their relationships with root *** this study,field experiments were conducted during 2012 and 2013 using two super rice varieties(hybrid rice Peizataifeng and inbred rice Yuxiangyouzhan)under three furrow establishment treatments(T1,both water and seed furrows were established by the machine;T2,only seed furrows were established by the machine;and T3,neither water nor seed furrows were established by the machine).Lodging index,lodging-related traits,grain yield,above-ground dry weight and root traits were *** results showed that the lodging index was significantly affected by the treatments with furrows(T1 and T2).The strongest lodging resistance was detected in the mechanical hill wet-seeded rice with furrow treatment(T1)in both 2012 and *** resistance was strongly related to the breaking *** significant difference was found in grain yield or dry weight of the mechanical hill wet-seeded ***,the mechanical hill wet-seeded rice with furrow treatment increased rice lodging resistance,which was related to root traits.

Structural design and parameter determination for fluted-roller fertilizer applicator

The instability of the motion layer of fertilizer particle influences the precision and the accuracy of the amount of fertilizer application in the working process of fluted-roller fertilizer *** characteristics of the motion layer were investigated,and a systematic scheme was proposed for designing the structures of fertilizer-filling cavity,fertilizer-filling surface and fertilizer-delivery *** key parameters of the structure were studied by discrete element *** was figured out that to ensure the smooth operation of fertilizer applicator,the fertilizer-filling angle was 105°,fertilizer-contact angle should be large than 100°,and the fertilizer-resistance angle should be smaller than 35°.Moreover,the stability of fertilizer motion morphology was investigated to verify the *** results showed that when the roll rotational speed was larger than 120 deg/s,compared with the conventional design the CV of the amount of fertilizer application was reduced from 1.5%-3.5%to 0.5%-1.0%,and the accuracy of the fertilizer discharge was improved with the square of the correlation coefficient between the amount of fertilizer application and the roll rotational speed was larger than *** was deduced from the results that the precision and accuracy of the amount of fertilizer application are improved via eliminating the driving layer and enhancing the stable filling and conveying of the forced layer.

Design and field evaluation of hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine for hybrid rice

To meet the requirement of the precision direct-seeding for hybrid rice,this study aimed to design a hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine to sow ten rows at a time.A series of orthogonal experiments were conducted to investigate the performance of the cylinder *** influences of the hole diameters,degree of vacuum,and rotational speed of the cylinder were tested on JPS-12 computer-vision seeding test platform,and the rotational speed of 10-50 r/min,diameter of 135 mm and a negative pressure of 1.0-2.0 kPa were *** results showed that the optimal parameter combination was a vacuum of 2.0 kPa and a hole diameter of 2.0 mm(straight hole),with a rotational speed of 30 r/*** probability of(2±1)seeds in each hole was 95.3%,while the probability of seed-missing hole was 2.0%.A series of field experiments were then conducted to test the seeder performance according to China National Standard Test Methods,and the field test results showed that for the hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine,the probability of(2±1)seeds in each hill was 91.6%,while the probability of seed-missing hill was 2.7%.The yield data showed that the average effective panicle had 231.25 ears,the average seed setting rate was 9.92%,the average 1000-grain weight was 22.45 g,and the average yield was 7107.9 kg/hm^(2) that was 26.14%higher than the average yield of rice(5634.9 kg/hm^(2))of Guangdong Province in *** results showed that the hill-drop pneumatic central cylinder direct-seeding machine for hybrid rice could be applied in practical precision rice seeding.

To address the clogging of the rice seed metering device after a long period of operation without affecting the precision of normal seeding,an active seed throwing and cleaning unit was designed based on the fact that magnets of the same pole were mutually *** working principle of the two devices was analysed theoretically,and a mechanical model was created according to the relationship between the repulsion forces of magnets and the spring forces of *** super hybrid rice Y-2 You 900 with 22.5%moisture content(wet basis)was used as the test *** whole factor experiments were carried out under different negative pressures,rotational speeds of the suction plates,and lengths of *** results indicated that under any test conditions,the active seed throwing and cleaning unit worked *** results of high-speed photography showed that the rate of seed cleaning was 100%.The results also showed that the optimal negative pressure was 0.8 *** probability of 1-3 seeds per hill for the seed metering device was approximately 95%under the optimal negative *** optimal length of the probe was found to be 2 *** average qualified rate of hill space was 96.04%under the optimal length of probe,the longer the length of the probe,the lower the qualified rate of hill *** also showed that an active seed throwing and cleaning unit could effectively avoid the hole clogging caused by the long-term operation and had no influence on the normal operation of the pneumatic rice seed metering *** active seed throwing and cleaning unit improved the stability of the seed metering device,and the research provided a reference for the optimal design of seed throwing and cleaning structures of the pneumatic rice seed metering device.
