Cancer of the liver Italian Program score helps identify potential candidates for transarterial chemoembolization in patients with Barcelona Clinic liver Cancer stage C

BACKGROUND： The Barcelona Clinic liver Cancer（BCLC）staging system for hepatocellular carcinoma（HCC） recommends transarterial chemoembolization（TACE） as the first line therapy for stage B patients and sorafenib treatment for stage C ***, stage C patients exhibit variations in terms of tumor burden, liver function, and extrahepatic metastasis, which could potentially affect disease outcome. Here, we assessed whether the Cancer of the liver Italian Program（CliP） scores can help identify stage C patients likely to benefit from ***： Out of 295 BCLC stage C HCC patients enrolled between January 2009 and December 2011, those with platelet counts 〉30×10~9 cells/L, total bilirubin 〈51 μmo L/L, and an unobstructed main portal vein were scheduled for TACE（n=195）. The remaining patients received best supportive care（BSC, n=100）.All the patients were followed up for symptoms, performance status, and Child-Pugh classification scores every 4 weeks until death or December 2013. The prognosis of each group was evaluated by using the log-rank test and Cox-Mantel ***： The median overall survival（OS） was 6 months [95% confidence interval（CI）： 4.64-7.36]. The OS was 9 months for the TACE group and 4 months for the BSC group. The TACE group had a longer OS than the BSC subgroup for CliP scores 0-2 [13 months（95% CI： 8.55-17.45） vs 4 months（95% CI：0.00-10.96）, P=0.001]. No significant differences were found between the TACE and BSC groups for CliP scores 3-5. The CliP score and treatment methods were found to be independent prognostic ***： BCLC stage C HCC patients exhibit definite disease heterogeneity and can be reclassified by using the CliP scoring system. Moreover, patients with CliP scores 0-2 are likely to benefit from TACE. However, additional studies with long-term follow-up will be required to validate these findings.

Rapid analysis of metal ions and organic compounds in strong acidic solutions is of sustainable interest in multiple ***,complicated and time-consuming pretreatments are always required for MS analysis of the compounds in strong acidic ***,it will result in a weak signal and cause serious damage to the mass ***,a simple method inherited from nano-ESI MS was developed for rapid analysis of strong acidic ***(nL)strong acidic solution was first loaded in the nano-ESI emitter,followed by evaporation to remove the H+and leave the analytes on the wall of the nano-ESI *** evaporation process can be completed within 1 min because of the extremely tiny volume(≤1 nL)of the loaded ***,the dried analytes on the wall of the nano-ESI emitter were redissolved by loading a new solvent,followed by nano-ESI MS *** using this method,metal ions and organic compounds in the strong acidic solution can be detected with low sample consumption(1 nL),high speed(limit of detection=0.2µg/L),and high accuracy(>90%).Proof-of-concept applications of the present method have been successfully achieved for the analysis of gastric juice(pH of the sample=1),monitoring reaction catalyzed by strong acid(pH of the system=0),and micro-area analysis of ores(pH of the extraction solvent=0),showing great application potential in multiple fields.

Mechanism research progress on transition metal compound electrode materials for supercapacitors

Supercapacitors(SCs) have remarkable energy storage capabilities and have garnered considerable interest due to their superior power densities and ultra-long cycling characteristics. However, their comparatively low energy density limits their extensive application in large-scale commercial applications. Electrode materials directly affect the performance of SCs. Thus, the development of cutting-edge electrode materials and modification of their morphological and structural properties are vital for advancing the performance of SCs. Transition metal compounds have a high specific capacity and good cycling durability, making them the most promising electrode active materials for high-energy density SCs. Nevertheless,their inadequate conductivity, unfavorable ion diffusion rates, substantial volume expansion and phase transitions during charging and discharging are obstacles to their stable and efficient integration into SCs. To address these challenges, this study provides a comprehensive summary of the current advancements in transition metal nanomaterials as electrode materials for SCs, an overview of the current research status, and the prevailing ***, this study highlights synthetic techniques and management strategies for electrode materials derived from transition metal compounds, targeting the resolution of the aforementioned challenges. Finally, a concise discussion is provided on the future directions of SC development, with an emphasis on the utilization of transition metal compound electrode materials.

Multifunctional carbon materials from rugose rose for energy storage and water purification

With the advancement of social process,the resource problem is becoming more prominent,biomass materials come into being,and it is becoming more and more important to explore and prepare efficient and multifunctional biomass materials to alleviate the problems of energy storage and water *** this paper,nitrogen-doped hierarchical porous carbon materials(NRRC)were produced by one-step carbonization of withered rose as raw material and melamine as nitrogen source with KOH-activated *** resulting nitrogen-doped porous carbon material had the most abundant pores and the best microspherical graded pore structure,with a specific surface area of up to 1393 m2·g^(-1),a pore volume of 0.68 cm3·g^(-1),and a nitrogen-doped content of 5.52%.Electrochemical tests showed that the maximum specific capacitance of NRRC in the three-electrode system was 346.4 F·g^(-1)(0.5 A·g^(-1)),which was combined with favorable capacitance retention performance and cycling *** NRRC//NRRC symmetric supercapacitors were further assembled,and the maximum energy density of a single device was 23.88 Wh·kg^(-1),which still maintains excellent capacitance retention and cyclic charging/discharging *** example,the capacitance retention rate was always close to 96.27%with almost negligible capacitance loss after 10000 consecutive charge/discharge cycles(current density:10 A·g^(-1)).Regardless of the three-electrode or two-electrode system,the super capacitive performance of NRRC porous carbon materials was comparable to the electrochemical performance of many reported biomass porous carbon materials,which showed better energy storage advantages and practical application *** addition,NRRC porous carbon materials had excellent water purification *** dye adsorption test confirmed that NRRC had a high adsorption capacity(491.47 mg·g^(-1))for methylene *** undoubtedly also showed a potential and promising avenue for high value-added utilization

The design and synthesis of catalysts for the oxidation desulfurization and production of hydrogen are extremely important for solving environmental pollution and energy ***,a novel bifunctional [α-Mo_(8)O_(26)]^(4-)/[β-Mo_(8)O_(26)]^(4-)-based Cu-viologen complex H_(4)[Cu_(2)~ⅠCl_(2)(Hbcbpy)_(4)] [α-Mo_(8)O_(26)] [β-Mo8O_(26)]·H_(2)O(BHU-2,Hbcbpy=1-(4-carboxybenzyl)-4,4'-bipyridinium) was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction(XRD),infrared radiation spectra,powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) *** structural characteristic of BHU-2 is the presence of two types of octamolybdate clusters [α-Mo_(8)O_(26)]^(4-)/[β-Mo_(8)O_(26)]^(4-)and a new binuclear Cu~Ⅰ-Hbcbpy complex linked by Cl-bridges[Cu_(2)ⅠCl_(2)(Hbcbpy)_(4)]^(4+).BHU-2 as a heterogeneous catalyst exhibits excellent activities to the oxidation desulfurization and photocatalytic hydrogen *** room temperature,BHU-2 can catalyze 96% conversion of methyl phenyl sulfide with 98% selectivity,and the process obeys the pseudo-first-order reaction kinetic with the half-life of9.6 *** notorious 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide can achieve 99% conversion with 98% selectivity within only1 min at the presence of BHU-2,and the turnover frequency(TOF) is up to 7400 h^(-1).BHU-2 also exhibits high catalytic activity for the oxidation of other aromatic and aliphatic thioethers within short time at room ***,BHU-2 shows a high catalytic activity for visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution with an H_(2) evolution rate of 1677.85 μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) within 10 ***,the catalytic activities do not decrease evidently after three cycles,revealing the prominent structural stability and recyclability.

Numerical Study on the Aerodynamic and Fluid−Structure Interaction of An NREL-5MW Wind Turbine

A 5-MW wind turbine has been modeled and analyzed for fluid-structure interaction and aerodynamic *** this study, a full-scale model of a 5-MW wind turbine is first developed based on a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) approach, in which the unsteady, noncompressible Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) method is used. The main focus of the study is to analyze the tower shadow effect on the aerodynamic performance of the wind turbine under different inlet flow conditions. Subsequently, the finite element model is established by considering fluid/structure interactions to study the structural stress, displacement, strain distributions and flow field information of the structure under the uniform wind speed. Finally, the fluid-structure interaction model is established by considering turbulent wind and the tower shadow effect. The variation rules of the dynamic response of the one-way and two-way fluid-structure interaction(FSI) models under different wind speeds are analyzed, and the numerical calculation results are compared with those of the centralized mass model. The results show that the tower shadow effect and structural deformation are the main factors affecting the aerodynamic load fluctuation of the wind turbine, which in turn affects the aerodynamic performance and structural stability of the blades. The structural dynamic response of the coupled model shows significant similarity, while the structural displacement response of the former exhibits less fluctuation compared with the conventional centralized mass model. The one-way fluid-structure interaction(FSI)model shows a higher frequency of stress-strain and displacement oscillations on the blade compared with the two-way FSI model.

Differences between lower extremity joint running kinetics captured by marker-based and markerless systems were speed dependent

Background:The development of computer vision technology has enabled the use of markerless movement tracking for biomechanical *** research has reported the feasibility of markerless systems in motion analysis but has yet to fully explore their utility for capturing faster movements,such as *** studies using markerless systems in clinical and sports settings are still ***,the present study compared running biomechanics estimated by marker-based and markerless *** running speed not only affects sports performance but is also associated with clinical injury prevention,diagnosis,and rehabilitation,we aimed to investigate the effects of speed on the comparison of estimated lower extremity joint moments and powers between markerless and marker-based technologies during treadmill running as a concurrent validating ***:Kinematic data from marker-based/markerless technologies were collected,along with ground reaction force data,from 16 young adults running on an instrumented treadmill at 3 speeds:2.24 m/s,2.91 m/s,and 3.58 m/s(5.0 miles/h,6.5 miles/h,and 8.0 miles/h).Sagittal plane moments and powers of the hip,knee,and ankle were calculated by inverse dynamic *** series analysis and statistical parametric mapping were used to determine system ***:Compared to the marker-based system,the markerless system estimated increased lower extremity joint kinetics with faster speed during the swing phase in most ***:Despite the promising application of markerless technology in clinical settings,systematic markerless overestimation requires focused *** on segment pose estimations,the centers of mass estimated by markerless technologies were farther away from the relevant distal joint centers,which led to greater joint moments and powers estimates by markerless ***-based *** differences were amplified by running speed.
