Effect of anti-VEGF treatment on retinopathy of prematurity in Zone Ⅱ Stage 3^+

AIM： To evaluate the effect of intravitreal ranibizumab injection for retinopathy of prematurity（ROP） in Zone Ⅱ Stage 3^＋.METHODS： Data was collected for ROP patients with Zone Ⅱ Stage 3^＋ who received intravitreal ranibizumab injections between October 2014 and Janu ary 2017 at the Department of Ophthalmology in our hospital. No prior laser or other intravitreal treatment was done. Prior to the intervention and at each follow-up visit, fundus examination was performed. Gestational age at birth, sex, birth weight, ROP zone, ROP stage, post menstrual age（PMA） at treatment, and follow-up pe riod were recorded. The final clinical status of the retina was evaluated for each patient. The primary outcome mea sures included ROP recurrences requiring re-treatment, complete or incomplete peripheral vascularization.RESULTS： Eighty-six eyes of 46 premature infants with Zone Ⅱ Stage 3~＋ ROP were enrolled in the study. The mean gestational age at birth was 28.18±1.67（range： 25 to 33）wk and the mean birth weight was 1070.57±226.85（range： 720.00 to 1650.00） g. The mean PMA at treatment was 38.32±2.99（range： 32.29 to 46.00）wk. Seventy-one eyes（82.56%） were treated success fully with intravitreal ranibizumab as monotherapy. Fifteen eyes（17.44%） developed recurrent disease. The mean interval between the treatment and retreatment was 5.96±3.22（range： 1.86 to 11.71）wk. All eyes vascularized into zone Ⅲ at the end of the study and among them 62 eyes（72.09%） achieved complete vascu larization.CONCLUSION： Intravitreal ranibizumab injection is an effective treatment in Zone Ⅱ Stage 3^＋ ROP patients. More patients with longer follow-up duration are necessary to confirm the safety and efficacy of this treatment.

Experimental Study of Mooring Type Effect on the Hydrodynamic Characteristics of VLFS

Mooring system is a significant part of very large offshore floating structures(VLFS).In this paper,a single module pontoon type VLFS model considering four mooring types is studied through physical model tests to determine the effects of mooring conditions on the hydroelastic response,mooring force,incident coefficient,reflection coefficient and energy dissipation coefficient.Eight mooring cables are symmetrically arranged on both sides of the model.The floating body model satisfies the similarity of stiffness and gravity,while the cable satisfies the similarity of elasticity and gravity.The results show that the effect of mooring type on mooring force is greater than that on hydroelastic response.Increasing the initial tension of the mooring cable will reduce the amplitude of the leeward of the VLFS model.The mooring angle of the mooring cable will affect the maximum mooring force and the initial tension of the mooring line will affect the wave period in which the maximum mooring force occurs.The transmission coefficient and wave energy dissipation coefficient will change regularly with different mooring types.These results may provide a reference to facilitate the mooring design of VLFS.

BYPASS1-LIKE regulates lateral root initiation via exocytic vesicular trafficking-mediated PIN recycling in Arabidopsis

Auxin and auxin-mediated signaling pathways are known to regulate lateral root development.Although exocytic vesicle trafficking plays an important role in recycling the PIN-FORMED(PIN)auxin efflux carriers and in polar auxin transport during lateral root formation,the mechanistic details of these processes are not well understood.Here,we demonstrate that BYPASS1-LIKE(B1 L)regulates lateral root initiation via exocytic vesicular trafficking-mediated PIN recycling in Arabidopsis thaliana.b1 l mutants contained significantly more lateral roots than the wild type,primarily due to increased lateral root primordium initiation.Furthermore,the auxin signal was stronger in stage I lateral root primordia of b1 l than in those of the wild type.Treatment with exogenous auxin and an auxin transport inhibitor indicated that the lateral root phenotype of b1 l could be attributed to higher auxin levels and that B1 L regulates auxin efflux.Indeed,compared to the wild type,C-terminally green fluorescent protein-tagged PIN1 and PIN3 accumulated at higher levels in b1 l lateral root primordia.B1 L interacted with the exocyst,and b1 l showed defective PIN exocytosis.These observations indicate that B1 L interacts with the exocyst to regulate PIN-mediated polar auxin transport and lateral root initiation in Arabidopsis.

Effects of nitrogen management on the ratoon crop yield and head rice yield in South USA

Ratoon rice cropping is an important component of the rice cropping system in Texas and south Louisiana,USA,and expanded to Asian countries in 1970.Two field studies were conducted with widely planted rice(Oryza sativa L.)cultivars at Eagle Lake,Texas,USA to determine the effects of nitrogen(N)management in main(first)crop(MC)and ratoon(second)crop(RC)on RC yield.In 2012 and 2013,one cultivar(Presidio)was adopted to determine the effects of RC N management on ratoon yield and head rice yield.In 2016 and 2017,CL153,CL163 and CL272 in addition to Presidio were adopted to examine the effect of MC N management on ratoon yield and head rice yield.N applied at preflood after MC harvest considerably improved RC yield.Application of 99 kg N ha^(–1)at preflood after MC harvest was practically adequate for RC regrowth,development and approaching the yield potential for Presidio.RC could produce quite high average grain yields of 5.90 to 6.53 t ha–1 in 2012 and 2013,respectively.Main crop N rate only significantly affected MC yield;however,given N applied of 99 kg ha^(–1)at preflood after MC harvest,ratoon yield was not significantly affected by MC N rate.Neither the main nor ratoon crop N management had a significant effect on RC head rice yield.Considerable RC head rice yields(55–65%)were observed in all of the four cultivars and 4 years except for CL272 in 2016.These results indicat that without very high N fertilizer application,rice ratoon crop could produce a considerable grain yield and an expectative head rice yield.Rice ratooning could be a practical way to increase rice yields with the minimal input in south Texas and regions with a similar climate.

Divergent methylation pattern in adult stage between two forms of Tetranychus urticae （Acari： Tetranychidae）

The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch has two forms： green form and red form. Understanding the molecular basis of how these two forms established without divergent genetic background is an intriguing area. As a well-known epigenetic process, DNA methylation has particularly important roles in gene regulation and developmental variation across diverse organisms that do not alter genetic background. Here, to investigate whether DNA methylation could be associated with different phenotypic conse- quences in the two forms of T. urticae, we surveyed the genome-wide cytosine methylation status and expression level of DNA methyltransferase 3 （Tudnmt3） throughout their entire life cycle. Methylation-sensitive amplification polymorphism （MSAP） analyses of 585 loci revealed variable methylation patterns in the different developmental stages. In particular, principal coordinates analysis （PCoA） indicates a significant epigenetic differentiation be- tween female adults of the two forms. The gene expression of Tudnmt3 was detected in all examined developmental stages, which was significantly different in the adult stage of the two forms. Together, our results reveal the epigenetic distance between the two forms of T. urticae, suggesting that DNA methylation might be implicated in different developmental demands, and contribute to different phenotypes in the adult stage of these two forms.

An Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers for MCP-penalized Regression with High-dimensional Data

The minimax concave penalty （MCP） has been demonstrated theoretically and practical- ly to be effective in nonconvex penalization for variable selection and parameter estimation. In this paper, we develop an efficient alternating direction method of multipliers （ADMM） with continuation algorithm for solving the MCP-penalized least squares problem in high dimensions. Under some mild conditions, we study the convergence properties and the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker （KKT） optimality con- ditions of the proposed method. A high-dimensional BIC is developed to select the optimal tuning parameters. Simulations and a real data example are presented to illustrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method.

本文以习近平著作及其日译本为语料,旨在明确习近平著作日译接受情况,分析受众认知语境特点,考察影响受众接受的主要原因并探讨相应解决策略。本文基于面向日本受众展开的问卷调查及受众访谈展开分析,从中总结出日译文接受中的三对矛盾,即目的语受众认知环境与译者认知环境不对等的矛盾、受众的“先占性”认知与译文“中国特色”间的矛盾,以及受众有限的注意力与译文散乱的焦点难点(生疏表达)间的矛盾。本文指出,习近平著作日译本虽整体接受良好,但仍受认知语境影响,在个别例句中,译者付出的心力未达到相应效果。本文结合具体例文从差异性与稳定性、先占性与发展性、分散性与聚焦性三个方面分析了受众认知语境特点,考察了制约受众理解的主要原因,指出为进一步促进习近平著作日译实现“融通中日”“融通中外”,既需要译者强化语境效果,也需要通过创新传播手段、培养传播人才、掌握传播效果等途径调节受众认知环境。

p-i-n Al_(x)Ga_(1−x)As/GaAs detectors with graded compositions and graded doping were grown and prepared.From the current-voltage and capacitance-voltage measurement results,the devices had good p-n junction diode characteristics,and the electric field strength under an unbiased voltage was 1.7×10^(5) Vcm^(-1).The full width at half maximum and charge collection efficiency of the detectors obtained from energy spectrum measurements of 5.48-MeV alpha particles were 3.04 and approximately 93%,respectively.In this study,we created the most advanced and promising state-of-the-art unbiased detector reported to date.

Effects of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure on Cognitive Deficits in Middle-aged Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome： A Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Background： Current views on continuous positive airway pressure （CPAP） treatment to improve the cognitive deficits of patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome （OSAS） are controversial, so we performed a meta-analysis. Methods： A comprehensive literature search was undertaken in PubMed, CINAHL, Medline, Psyclnfo, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CNKI, WanFang, VIP, and CBMdisc for studies published from June 1971 to July 2014. The outcome measures included neuropsychological tests of the 7 cognitive domains detailed below. Results： After screening the titles and abstracts and thoroughly reading the fuU text, we obtained 13 studies with little risk of bias that incorporated 1744 middle-aged obese participants with mild to severe OSAS. The studies were published from 1994 to 2012. Treatment durations varied from 1 to 24 weeks. The effect sizes of attention, vigilance, processing speed, working memory, memory, verbal fluency, and visuoconstructive skills domains were -0.10 （P = 0.24）, -0.12 （P = 0.04）, -0.08 （P = 0.16）, 0.00 （P = 0.95）, -0.04 （P = 0.30）, -0.06 （P = 0.34）, and -0.01 （P = 0.92）, respectively. Conclusions： Cognition partially improved in patients with OSAS after CPAP treatment. The only domain with significant improvement was vigilance. Rigorous randomized controlled trials need to be performed to obtain clear results.
