Journal of Genetics and Genomics(JGG),launched in 1974,celebrates its 50th birthday in 2023.With continuous support from our authors,reviewers,readers,and the editorial board,JGG has made remarkable progress in the past year by publishing 122 papers covering major disciplines in life sciences and medical genetics with exciting discoveries.It is worthwhile to note that we have recruited 66 young talents to join JGG as junior editors,resulting in significant improvement in manuscript evaluation and journal promotion.Here,we summarize major progresses reported in JGG in 2023 fromaneditorial view.

The application of an external field is a promising method to control the microstructure of materials, leading to their improved performance. In the present paper, the strengthening and toughening behavior of some typical high-performance structural materials subjected to multifield coupling treatment, including electrostatic field, electro-pulse current, thermal field, and stress field, are reviewed in detail. In addition to the general observation that the plasticity of materials could be increased by multi-external fields, strength enhancement can be achieved by controlling atomic diffusion or phase transformations. The paper is not limited to the strengthening and toughening mechanisms of the multifield coupling effects on different types of structural materials but is intended to provide a generic method to improve both the strength and ductility of the materials. Finally, the prospects of the applications of multi-external fields have also been proposed based on current works.

As a material with good biocompatibility,hydroxyapatite（HAP） can have optical properties after doping with various rare earth ions.As a biocompatible fluorescent material,doped HAP could have broad applications in biological probes,drug delivery,optoelectronic materials,fluorescence anti-counterfeiting,and other aspects.In this paper,we put forward the preparation of HAP doped with terbium（Ⅲ） ions(Tb3+) by hydrothermal co-precipitation.By controlling the Tb3+doping content in reaction and the reaction time,the changes in HAP's structure,morphology,and luminescence properties under different conditions were studied.When the doping amount of Tb3+reached an optimal value,the dipole-quadrupole would occur and the concentration would be quenched.The control experiment showed that the optimal Tb3+content was 7.5 × 10-5mol,which showed the best fluorescence performance.HAP,a non-luminous material,was rarely used in the field of fluorescent anti-counterfeiting and photoelectric devices.We proposed to prepare a luminescent aramid/polyphenylene sulfide（ACFs/PPS） fiber paper and a new light-emitting diode（LED） using the Tb-doped HAP phosphor.The composite sample exhibited an excellent stability and fluorescence performance,which also demonstrated a possibility of HAP applications in anticounterfeiting and photoelectric.The introduction of Tb3+dopant HAP was done to give HAP optical properties and broaden the application range of HAP.

The oxidation behavior of a novel Ni-based single-crystal 4774DD1 superalloy for industrial gas turbine applications was investigated by the isothermal oxidation at 980℃ and discontinuous oxidation weight gain methods.The phase constitution and morphology of surface oxides and the characteristics of the crosssection oxide film were analyzed by XRD,SEM and EDS.Results show that the oxidation kinetics of the 4774DD1 superalloy follows the cubic law,indicating its weak oxidation resistance at this temperature.As the oxidation time increases,the composition of the oxide film evolves as following:One layer consisting of a bottom Al_(2)O_(3)sublayer and an upper(Al_(2)O_(3)+NiO)mixture sublayer after oxidized for 25 h.Then,two layers composed of an outermost small NiO discontinuous grain layer and an internal layer for 75 h.This internal layer is consisted of the bottom Al_(2)O_(3)sublayer,an intermediate narrow CrTaO_(4)sublayer,and an upper(Al_(2)O_(3)+NiO)mixture sublayer.Also two layers comprising an outermost relative continuous NiO layer with large grain size and an internal layer as the oxidation time increases to 125 h.This internal layer is composed of the upper(Al_(2)O_(3)+NiO)mixture sublayer,an intermediate continuous(CrTaO_(4)+NiWO_(4))mixture sublayer,and a bottom Al_(2)O_(3)sublayer.Finally,three layers consisting of an outermost(NiAl2O_(4)+NiCr2O_(4))mixture layer,an intermediate(CrTaO_(4)+NiWO_(4))mixture layer,and a bottom Al_(2)O_(3)layer for 200 h.

The developing of large size superalloy vacuum induction melting(VIM)ingots is limited owing to hot cracking,The hot cracking behavior of the large size GH4742 superalloy VIM ingot was investigated via experiment and simulation.The microstructure was examined by optical microscopy,and element segregation was investigated by electron probe microanalysis.The solidification temperature range and yield strength at high temperature(YSHT)were calculated by JMatPro software.The results show that the variations of microstructure and element segregation in different locations are caused by different cooling rates.Moreover,the larger secondary dendrite arm spacing and serious element segregation of Nb accelerate hot cracking of the VIM ingot.In addition,the solidification temperature range is wider,and YSHT is lower in center than at edge of the ingot.Therefore,the hot cracking susceptibility is the highest in the center of the GH4742 superalloy VIM ingot.The critical criterion of element segregation for hot cracking is that the partition coeffcient of Nb should be larger than 0.5.

The role of α precipitates formed during aging in the fracture toughness and fracture behavior of β-type bio-titanium alloy Ti–29Nb–13Ta–4.6Zr(TNTZ) was studied. Results showed that the fracture toughness of the TNTZ alloy aged at 723 K decreases to the minimum of 72.07–73.19 kJ·m^(-2)when the aging time is extended to 4–8 h and then gradually increases and reaches 144.89 kJ·m^(-2)after 72 h. The decrease in fracture toughness within the aging time of 4–8 h is caused by the large stress concentration at the tip of acicular α precipitates with a high aspect ratio and the preferential crack propagation along the inhomogeneous acicular α precipitates distributed in “V-shape” and “nearly perpendicular shape”. When the aging time is extended to 8–72 h, the precrack tip is uniformly blunted, and the crack is effectively deflected by α precipitates with multi long axis directions, more high homogeneity, low aspect ratio, and large number density. Analysis of the effect of αprecipitates on the fracture behavior suggested that the number of long axis directions of α precipitates is the key controlling factor for the fracture behavior and fracture toughness of the TNTZ alloy aged for different times.

X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy(XPCS)has emerged as a powerful tool for probing the nanoscale dynamics of soft condensed matter and strongly correlated materials owing to its high spatial resolution and penetration capabilities.This technique requires high brilliance and beam coherence,which are not directly available at modern synchrotron beamlines in China.To facilitate future XPCS experiments,we modified the optical setup of the newly commissioned BL10U1 USAXS beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF).Subsequently,we performed XPCS measurements on silica suspensions in glycerol,which were opaque owing to their high concentrations.Images were collected using a high frame rate area detector.A comprehensive analysis was performed,yielding correlation functions and several key dynamic parameters.All the results were consistent with the theory of Brownian motion and demonstrated the feasibility of XPCS at SSRF.Finally,by carefully optimizing the setup and analyzing the algorithms,we achieved a time resolution of 2 ms,which enabled the characterization of millisecond dynamics in opaque systems.

BACKGROUND Research on gastrointestinal mucosal adenocarcinoma(GMA)is limited and controversial,and there is no reference tool for predicting postoperative survival.AIM To investigate the prognosis of GMA and develop predictive model.METHODS From the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results database,we collected clinical information on patients with GMA.After random sampling,the patients were divided into the discovery(70%of the total,for model training),validation(20%,for model evaluation),and completely blind test cohorts(10%,for further model evaluation).The main assessment metric was the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC).All collected clinical features were used for Cox proportional hazard regression analysis to determine factors influencing GMA’s prognosis.RESULTS This model had an AUC of 0.7433[95% confidence intervals(95%CI):0.7424-0.7442]in the discovery cohort,0.7244(GMA:0.7234-0.7254)in the validation cohort,and 0.7388(95%CI:0.7378-0.7398)in the test cohort.We packaged it into Windows software for doctors’use and uploaded it.Mucinous gastric adenocarcinoma had the worst prognosis,and these were protective factors of GMA:Regional nodes examined[hazard ratio(HR):0.98,95%CI:0.97-0.98,P<0.001]and chemotherapy(HR:0.62,95%CI:0.58-0.66,P<0.001).CONCLUSION The deep learning-based tool developed can accurately predict the overall survival of patients with GMA postoperatively.Combining surgery,chemotherapy,and adequate lymph node dissection during surgery can improve patient outcomes.

亚失稳实验为前兆信息的提取和地震预测的研究提供了理论依据。为了研究地震前兆信息,根据地震波速度与应力的关系实验结果,计算了2021年5月1日至21日漾濞Ms6.4地震前,经度E98°-E102°,纬度N24°-N28°地震的视波速比,对其插值实现区域网格化,分析了视波速比场的梯度和梯度的散度,发现在点(N26.10°,E99.59°)和点(N25.73°,E99.87°)为中心释放能量,它们连线的走向为145°,在以点(N25.81°,E99.59°)和点(N26.58°,E100.26°)的连线为轴线的多点吸收能量,其走向为38°。认为具有亚失稳态的特征、是前兆信息,由亚失稳理论推演出0至5日内,在点(N26.10°,E99.59°)或点(N25.73°,E99.87°)或其连线的附近将发生地震,断层的破裂长度约为49.8km,换算为Ms6.8,与测量的在点(N25.67°,E99.87°)发生的Ms6.4地震对比是理想的,认为该方法可以为此类浅源走滑型地震且有一定数目前震的前兆研究提供参考。
