Male animals often adjust their sperm investment in response to sperm competition *** date,only a few studies have investigated how juvenile sociosexual settings affect sperm production before adulthood and sperm allocation during the first ***,it is unclear whether juvenile sociosexual experience(1)determines lifetime sperm production and allocation in any animal species;(2)alters the eupyrene:apyrene sperm ratio in lifetime ejaculates of any lepidopteran insects,and(3)influences lifetime ejaculation patterns,number of matings and adult *** we used a polygamous moth,Ephestia kuehniella,to address these *** male adult emergence from juveniles reared at different density and sex ratio,we paired each male with a virgin female daily until his *** dissected each mated female to count the sperm transferred and recorded male longevity and lifetime number of *** demonstrate for the first time that males ejaculated significantly more eupyrenes and apyrenes in their lifetime after their young were exposed to juvenile *** moths continued to produce eupyrene sperm,contradicting the previous predictions for *** eupyrene:apyrene ratio in the lifetime ejaculates remained unchanged in all treatments,suggesting that the sperm ratio is critical for reproductive *** juvenile exposure to other juveniles regardless of sex ratio caused significantly shorter adult longevity and faster decline in sperm ejaculation over successive ***,males from all treatments achieved similar number of matings in their *** study provides insight into adaptive resource allocation by males in response to juvenile sociosexual environment.

Diagnostic methods for urothelial carcinomas(UCs)are often invasive or have suboptimal *** of exfoliated cell DNA or cell-free DNA in urine has shown great promise in the diagnosis of ***,most current studies have focused on bladder cancer(BCa),and only a few high-plex methylated DNA panels based on large-volume urine have been reported to exhibit both high sensitivity and specificity.[1,2]The purpose of this study was to identify universal biomarkers for BCa and upper tract urothelial carcinoma(UTUC)using a small volume of *** developed a dual-target diagnostic panel comprising the novel marker AL021918.2 and the well-known BCa biomarker Vimentin(VIM).This panel can accurately detect UCs using only 1.8 mL of full-voided urine.

The effects of different contents of a MgO expansive agent and phosphorus slag on the mechanical properties,shrinkage behavior,and the heat of hydration of concrete were *** slump flow,setting time,dry shrinkage,and hydration heat were used as sensitive parameters to assess the response of the considered *** shown by the results,in general,with an increase in the phosphorus slag content,the hydration heat of concrete decreases for all ages,but the early strength displays a downward trend and the dry shrinkage rate *** 90-d strength and dry shrinkage of concrete could be improved with a phosphorus residue content between 0%-20%,with the best performances in terms of mechanical properties and shrinkage characteristics being achieved for a content of 20 kg/m^(3).On the basis of these results,it can be concluded that appropriate amounts of phosphorus slag and MgO expansive agent can be used to improve the compressive strength of concrete in the later stage by reducing the hydration heat and dry shrinkage rate,respectively.

The CRISPR/Cas9 technology revolutionizes targeted gene knockout in diverse organisms including ***,screening edited alleles,particularly those with multiplex editing,from herbicide-or antibiotic-resistant transgenic plants and segregating out the Cas9 transgene represent two laborious *** solutions to facilitate these processes rely on different selection ***,by taking advantage of the opposite functions of a D-amino acid oxidase(DAO)in detoxifying D-serine and in metabolizing non-toxic D-valine to a cytotoxic product,we develop a DAO-based selection system that simultaneously enables the enrichment of multigene edited alleles and elimination of Cas9-containing progeny in Arabidopsis *** five DAOs tested in Escherichia coli,the one encoded by Trigonopsis variabilis(TvDAO)could confer slightly stronger D-serine resistance than other *** expression of TvDAO in Arabidopsis allowed a clear distinction between transgenic and nontransgenic plants in both D-serine-conditioned positive selection and D-valine-conditioned negative *** a proof of concept,we combined CRISPR-induced single-strand annealing repair of a dead TvDAO with D-serine-based positive selection to help identify transgenic plants with multiplex editing,where D-serine-resistant plants exhibited considerably higher co-editing frequencies at three endogenous target genes than those selected by ***,D-valine-based negative selection successfully removed Cas9 and TvDAO transgenes from the survival offspring carrying inherited ***,this work provides a novel strategy to ease CRISPR mutant identification and Cas9 transgene elimination using a single selection marker,which promises more efficient and simplified multiplex CRISPR editing in plants.

With continuous hydrocarbon exploration extending to deeper basins,the deepest industrial oil accumulation was discovered below 8,200 m,revealing a new exploration ***,the extent to which oil exploration can be extended,and the prediction of the depth limit of oil accumulation(DLOA),are issues that have attracted significant attention in petroleum *** it is difficult to characterize the evolution of the physical properties of the marine carbonate reservoir with burial depth,and the deepest drilling still cannot reach the ***,the DLOA cannot be predicted by directly establishing the relationship between the ratio of drilling to the dry layer and the *** this study,by establishing the relationships between the porosity and the depth and dry layer ratio of the carbonate reservoir,the relationships between the depth and dry layer ratio were obtained *** depth corresponding to a dry layer ratio of 100%is the *** on this,a quantitative prediction model for the DLOA was finally *** results indicate that the porosity of the carbonate reservoir,Lower Ordovician in Tazhong area of Tarim Basin,tends to decrease with burial depth,and manifests as an overall low porosity reservoir in deep *** critical porosity of the DLOA was 1.8%,which is the critical geological condition corresponding to a 100%dry layer ratio encountered in the *** depth of the DLOA was 9,000 *** study provides a new method for DLOA prediction that is beneficial for a deeper understanding of oil accumulation,and is of great importance for scientific guidance on deep oil drilling.

作为时序数据分析中的基础技术之一,时间序列的子序列查询旨在寻找与目标序列相似的子序列。现有的子序列查询方法大多仅支持查询与目标序列长度相同的子序列,因而均匀缩放技术常被用于解决子序列查询中的不等长问题。但现有支持均匀缩放的子序列查询技术大多未考虑子序列的z-标准化,且对查询效率仍有改善的空间。针对该问题,提出一种基于索引技术且支持均匀缩放的子序列查询方法。结合现有索引方法 ULISSE提供的树状数据结构,设计可保证非漏报的下界距离,为索引结构的剪枝提供理论保证,并利用索引中存储的元数据,提出精确K-近邻查询算法。所提方法适用于非归一化和归一化两种场景。实验结果表明,较UCR-US和ULISSE基线方法,该基于索引的不等长子序列查询方法在CAP、GAP两个真实数据集以及随机游走人工合成数据集上均实现了查询效率的显著提升,针对在非归一化和归一化两种场景下的不等长子序列查询,该方法的平均效率提升分别为2.33和2.51倍。

Regulated cell death (RCD) is a critical physiological process essential in maintaining skin homeostasis. Among the various forms of RCD, ferroptosis stands out due to its distinct features of iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and involvement of various inhibitory antioxidant systems. In recent years, an expanding body of research has solidly linked ferroptosis to the emergence of skin disorders. Therefore, understanding the mechanisms underlying ferroptosis in skin diseases is crucial for advancing therapy and prevention strategies. This review commences with a succinct elucidation of the mechanisms that underpin ferroptosis, embarks on a thorough exploration of ferroptosis’s role across a spectrum of skin conditions, encompassing melanoma, psoriasis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), vitiligo, and dermatological ailments precipitated by ultraviolet (UV) exposure, and scrutinizes the potential therapeutic benefits of pharmacological interventions aimed at modulating ferroptosis for the amelioration of skin diseases.
