A Case of Fahr’s Disease with Epilepsy as the First Symptom in Infancy

Background: Fahr’s disease, also recognized as Idiopathic Basal Ganglia Calcification (IBGC) or Primary Familial Brain Calcification (PFBC), was first identified by the German neurologist Karl Theodor Fahr in 1930. This rare condition, which involves the calcification of the basal ganglia and presents significant treatment challenges, is most commonly diagnosed in middle-aged adults and is notably uncommon in children. Purpose: We report a case of a younger patient and review this disease as an aid to early detection and diagnosis of the disease. Case Introduction: In this report, we present a unique case of Fahr’s disease in a child, where epilepsy manifested as the initial symptom during infancy. In this report, we present a case of Fahr’s disease in a child who presented with epilepsy as the first symptom in infancy. The child had no imaging abnormalities at the onset of the seizure, and subsequent antiepileptic drugs were reduced and discontinued, and when the seizure recurred 3 years later, a perfect cranial CT revealed symmetrical calcifications in the brain, which gradually worsened, and subsequently the child was unable to take care of himself and had regression of his psychomotor development, and the family requested discharge from the hospital, and then the child died during the follow-up visit. Conclusion: The disease is currently associated with a number of disorders for which there is no specific treatment, and half of all patients currently have a well-defined gene, emphasizing more importantly the importance of genetic counseling for parents known to be at risk prior to conception.

Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)are considered to be one of the most promising candidates to replace lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)due to the high theoretical capacity,low cost and intrinsic ***,zinc dendrites,hydrogen evolution reaction,surface passivation and other side reactions will inevitably occur during the charging and discharging process of Zn anode,which will seriously affect the cycle stability of the battery and hinder its practical *** etching strategy of Zn anode has attracted wide attention because of its simple operation and broad commercial prospects,and the etched Zn anode can effectively improve its electrochemical ***,there is no comprehensive review of the etching strategy of Zn *** review first summarizes the challenges faced by Zn anode,then puts forward the etching mechanisms and properties of acid,salt and other ***,based on the above discussion,the challenges and opportunities of Zn anode etching strategy are proposed.

Structural Control of the Getang Carlin-Type Gold Deposit in Southwest China

The Getang is a representative Carlin-type gold deposit in Southwest *** has a proven reserve of about 30 tonnes at an average grade of 5.1 g/t *** orebodies occur as strat-abound lenses,and are structurally controlled by shallow NWW-and NE-trending fold-fault systems and the unconformity between the Upper and Middle *** this study,the regional-and deposit-scale structural investigations,joints and finite strain measurements,and stress and dynamic analysis were conducted with an aim to reveal the structural process of the Getang gold deposit and clarify the relationship between the gold mineralization and *** phases of deformation were identified in the deposit:(1)paleokarst was generated by a crustal uplift when the Youjiang Basin experienced extension at the end of the Middle Permian,laying the foundation for the unconformity;(2)the NW-trending structures were formed under a NNE-SSW compression during the Indochina-South China collision(Indosinian orogeny)in Triassic;(3)the NE-trending structures were generated or reactivated under a NW-SE-oriented compression during the Yanshanian intracontinental *** unconformity recorded two episodes of tectonic evolution in the NNE-SSW and NW-SE *** analyses and geochronology data suggest that the Getang gold deposit was formed as a result of tectonic transition from compression to extension during the Yanshanian intracontinental orogeny.

One-step growth of ultrathin CoSe_(2)nanobelts on N-doped MXene nanosheets for dendrite-inhibited and kinetic-accelerated lithium-sulfur chemistry

The practical application of lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries is inhibited by the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)and slow polysulfide redox kinetics on the S cathode as well as the uncontrollable growth of dendrites on the Li metal ***,both cathode and anode sides must be considered when modifying LiS ***,two-dimensional(2D)ultrathin CoSe_(2)nanobelts are in situ grown on 2D N-doped MXene nanosheets(CoSe_(2)@N-MXene)via one-step solvothermal process for the first *** to its unique 2D/2D structure,CoSe_(2)@N-MXene can be processed to crumpled nanosheets by freeze-drying and flexible and freestanding films by vacuum *** crumpled CoSe_(2)@NMXene nanosheets with abundant active sites and inner spaces can act as S hosts to accelerate polysulfide redox kinetics and suppress the shuttle effect of LiPSs owing to their strong adsorption ability and catalytic conversion effect with ***,the CoSe_(2)@N-MXene film(CoSe_(2)@NMF)can act as a current collector to promote uniform Li deposition because it contains lithiophilic CoSe_(2)and N *** the systematic effect of CoSe_(2)@N-MXene on S cathode and Li metal anode,the electrochemical and safety performance of Li–S batteries are ***_(2)@NMF also shows excellent storage performances in flexible energy storage devices.

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)are an attractive battery system because of similar characteristics to lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and large Na element ***,exploring stable,high-capacity and high-rate anode materials for SIBs is still challenging ***,diethylenetriamine(DETA)molecular template derived ultrathin N-doped carbon(NC)layer decorated CoSe_(2)nanobelts(CoSe_(2)/NC)are prepared by solvothermal reaction followed by calcination *** CoSe_(2)/NC exhibits large potential as an anode for *** and theoretical calculations reveal that the in situ formed conductive ultrathin NC layer can not only relieve the volume change of CoSe_(2)but also accelerate electron and ion *** addition,the nanobelt structure of CoSe_(2)/NC with abundant exposed active sites can obviously accelerate the electrochemical *** the synergistic effect of special nanobelt structure and NC layer,the rate as well as cycling performances of CoSe_(2)/NC are obviously improved.A superior capacity retention of 94.8%is achieved at 2 A·g^(-1)after 2000 *** using Na3V2(PO4)3 cathodes,the pouch full batteries can work steadily at 0.5 C,verifying the application ***_(2)/NC anodes also exhibit impressive performances in LIBs and potassium-ion batteries(PIBs).

The European Commission has proposed a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism(CBAM)to reduce carbon leakage and create a level playing field for its domestic products and imported ***,the effectiveness of the proposal remains unclear,especially when it triggers threats of retaliation from trading partners of the European *** apply a Computable General Equilibrium model-Global Trade Analysis Project-to assess the economic and environmental impacts of different CBAM *** we show that the effectiveness of the CBAM to address carbon leakage risks is rather limited,and the CBAM raises concerns over global welfare costs,Correct to Gross Domestic Product(GDP)losses,and violation of equality *** retaliation leads to multiplied welfare losses,which would mostly be borne by poor *** results question the carbon leakage reduction effect of a unilateral trade policy and suggest that climate change mitigation still needs to be performed within the framework of international cooperation.

Core level excitation spectra of La and Mn ions in LaMnO3

Manganese-based perovskite is popular for research on ferromagnetic materials,and its spectroscopic studies are essential for understanding its electronic structure,dielectric,electrical,and magnetic *** this paper,the M-edge spectra of La ions and the M-edge,L-edge,and K-edge spectra of Mn ions in LaMnO3 are calculated by considering both the free-ion multiplet calculation and the crystal field *** analyze spectral shapes,identify peak origins,and estimate the oxidation states of La and Mn ions in LaMnO3 *** is concluded that La ions in LaMnO3 predominantly exist in the trivalent state,while Mn ions exist primarily in the trivalent state with a minor presence of tetravalent ***,the calculated spectra are in better conformity with the experimental spectra when the proportion of Mn3+is 90%and Mn4+is 10%.This article enhances our comprehension of the oxidation states of La and Mn within the crystal and also provides a valuable guidance for spectroscopic investigations of other manganates.

Comparison of clinical features and outcomes of proliferative,fibrotic,and mixed subtypes of IgG4-related disease:A retrospective cohort study

Cross-sections for electronic excitation and de-excitation among the ground state and lowest-lying seven electronic excited states of carbon monoxide(CO)by low-energy electron impact are computed using the R-matrix *** excitation cross-sections from the ground state to the electronic states a^(3)Π,a'^(3)Σ^(+)+and A^(1)Πagree with previous experimental and theoretical *** addition,the cross-sections for the I^(1)Σ^(+)-and D^(1)Δstates of CO,which will cascade to CO a'^(3)Σ^(+)+and A^(1)Πstates,are ***,in contrast to the typical increase in electronic excitation cross-sections with collision energy,the de-excitation cross-sections show a negative trend with increasing energy.
