Cooling load characteristics of indoor spaces conditioned by decoupled radiant cooling unit with low radiant temperature

Decoupled radiant cooling units(DRCUs)are capable of increasing the cooling capacity without increasing condensation risks even using a much lower cooling temperature than conventional radiant cooling units(CRCUs).However,it is unclear whether DRCUs using low radiant cooling temperature will increase the cooling load of the conditioned indoor *** this study,the cooling load characteristics of a thermal chamber conditioned by a DRCU was investigated through developing a steady-state analysis model suitable for both DRCUs and *** total/radiative heat flux,as well as the heat exchange with a thermal manikin and walls were analysed under different surface temperatures of *** effect of the emissivity of the thermal chamber’external wall on the cooling load was also *** indicated that the cooling load under the DRCU was slightly smaller than that under the CRCU when the same operative environment was *** the infrared emissivity of the exterior wall’s inner surface could lead to a significant decrease in the cooling load for both the DRCU and *** decreasing the wall emissivity from 0.9 to 0.1,the total cooling load of the DRCU can be decreased by 8.4%and the heat gain of the exterior wall decreased by 21.6%.This study serves as a reference for developing the analysis model and understanding the load characteristics when DRCUs are used to create the thermal environment for indoor spaces.

Ag_(2)CO_(3)-catalyzed efficient synthesis of internal or terminal propargylicamines and chalcones via A^(3)-coupling under solvent-free condition

Several simple, fast and practical protocols have been developed to synthesize internal or terminal propargylamines and chalcones via A^(3)-coupling reaction of aldehydes, amines, and alkynes catalyzed by an easily available catalyst Ag_(2)CO_(3)under solvent-free condition. The reaction proceeded smoothly to deliver various products in good-to-excellent yields with good functional group tolerance. Gram-scale preparation, bioactive molecule synthesis and asymmetric substrates have been demonstrated. Furthermore,plausible mechanisms for the synthesis of different products have been proposed.

Identification of Information-Seeking Behaviors from Air Traffic Controllers′ Eye Movements

Air traffic controllers are the important parts of air traffic management system who are responsible for the safety and efficiency of the *** make traffic management decisions based on information acquired from various *** understanding of their information seeking behaviors is still *** aim to identify controllers′ behavior through the examination of the correlations between controllers′eye movements and air *** air traffic controllers were invited to participate real-time simulation experiments,during which the data of their eye ball movements and air traffic were ***-three air traffic complexity metrics and six eye movements metrics were calculated to examine their *** correlational methods,Pearson′s correlation and Spearman′s correlation,were tested between every eye-traffic pair of *** results indicate that controllers′two kinds of information-seeking behaviors can be identified from their eye movements:Targets tracking,and confliction *** study on controllers′ eye movements may contribute to the understanding of information-seeking mechanisms leading to the development of more intelligent automations in the future.

Measuring the resilience of an airport network

Resilience is the ability of a system to withstand and stay operational in the face of an unexpected disturbance or unpredicted changes. Recent studies on air transport system resilience focus on topology characteristics after the disturbance and measure the robustness of the network with respect to connectivity. The dynamic processes occurring at the node and link levels are often ignored. Here we analyze airport network resilience by considering both structural and dynamical aspects. We develop a simulation model to study the operational performance of the air transport system when airports operate at degraded capacity rather than completely shutting down. Our analyses show that the system deteriorates soon after disruptive events occur but returns to an acceptable level after a period of time. Static resilience of the airport network is captured by a phase transition in which a small change to airport capacity will result in a sharp change in system punctuality. After the phase transition point, decreasing airport capacity has little impact on system performance. Critical airports which have significant influence on the performance of whole system are identified, and we find that some of these cannot be detected based on the analysis of network structural indicators alone. Our work shows that air transport system’s resilience can be well understood by combining network science and operational dynamics.

Preparation of porous hollow silica spheres via a layer-by- layer process and the chromatographic performance

Hollow silica spheres possessing excellent mechanical properties were successfully prepared through a layer-by-layer process using uniform polystyrene （PS） latex fabricated by dispersion polymerization as template. The formation of hollow SiO2 micro-spheres, structures and properties were observed in detail by zeta potential, SEM, TEM, FTIR, TGA and nitrogen sorption porosimetry. The results indicated that the hollow spheres were uniform with particle diameter of 1.6 μm and shell thickness of 150 nm. The surface area was 511 m2/g and the pore diameter was 8.36 nm. A new stationary phase for HPLC was obtained by using C18-derivatized hollow SiO2 micro-spheres as packing materials and the chromatographic properties were evaluated for the separation of some regular small molecules. The packed column showed low column pressure, high values of efficiency （up to about 43 000 plates/m） and appropriate asymmetry factors.

Molecularly imprinted polymer/graphene oxide modified glassy carbon electrode for selective detection of sulfanilamide

A novel sensitive electrochemical sensor based on a glassy carbon electrode（GCE） modified with molecularly imprinted polymer（MIP） and grapheme oxide（GO） was *** MIP/GO material was prepared by precipitation polymerization in the presence of sulfanilamide as template *** MIP/GO based electrochemical sensor was characterized using scanning electron microscopy（SEM）,cyclic voltammetry（CV）,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy（EIS） and square wave voltammetry（SWV）.The results indicated that the sensor exhibited good affinity and excellent electrochemical response for *** optimized conditions,the oxidation peak current intensity of sulfanilamide showed two linear dynamic ranges from 10 to 1000 ng mL;,and the standard deviation was less than 5% using SWV *** sensor displays good stability,reproducibility,and high *** can be further applied to quantify sulfanilamide in milk.

Simulation study of a dual-cavity window with gravity-driven cooling mechanism

Utilization of high temperature cooling sources or natural energy sources can potentially contribute to improving energy efficiency in *** this study,a dual-cavity window with gravity-driven cooling mechanism(GDC window)was proposed to integrate the low-grade cooling sources into the glazing system for improving the thermal performance of the *** embedded pipes circulated with low-grade cooling water are the key component of GDC window,which can remove the absorbed solar heat and reduce the heat gain through the window.A numerical model based on CFD simulation was developed to analyze the flow characteristic and heat transfer within the GDC *** validation was conducted by comparing the simulation results with measurement data obtained from previous *** simulations were carried out to compare the thermal performance of GDC window with that of conventional blinds *** analysis was performed to evaluate the influence of some design parameters on the flow characteristic and thermal performance of GDC *** simulated results show that compared with the blinds window,the GDC window reduces 57.4%and 40.4% of heat gain in summer for the low-grade cooling water of 18℃ and 25℃;*** the flow resistance within the GDC window is significant for improving the heat removal performance of the embedded *** study provides an alternative solution to integrate the low-grade cooling sources into the glazing system for enhancing the energy-efficiency and decreasing the building energy demand in cooling-dominated buildings.

Kinetics of hexavalent chromium reduction by iron metal
