Progress on deuterated potassium dihydrogen phosphate(DKDP)crystals for high power laser system application

In this review,we introduce the progress in the growth of large-aperture DKDP crystals and some aspects of crystal quality including determination of deuterium content,homogeneity of deuterium distribution,residual strains,nonlinear absorption,and laser-induced damage resistance for its application in high power laser ***-aperture high-quality DKDP crystal with deuteration level of 70%has been successfully grown by the traditional method,which can fabricate the large single-crystal optics with the size exceeding 400 *** diffraction technique is an efficient method to research the deuterium content and 3D residual strains in single *** efforts have been paid in the processes of purity of raw materials,continuous filtration technology,thermal annealing and laser conditioning for increasing the laser-induced damage threshold(LIDT)and these processes enable the currently grown crystals to meet the specifications of the laser system for inertial confinement fusion(ICF),although the laser damage mechanism and laser conditioning mechanism are still not well *** advancements on growth of large-aperture high-quality DKDP crystal would support the development of ICF in China.

Electrically controlled half-metallicity in antiferromagnets is of great significance for both fundamental research and practical ***,by constructing van der Waals heterostructures composed of two-dimensional(2D)A-type antiferromagnetic NiI_(2)bilayer(bi-NiI_(2))and ferroelectric In_(2)Se_(3)with different thickness,we propose that the half-metallicity is realizable and switchable in the bi-NiI_(2)proximate to In_(2)Se_(3)bilayer(bi-In_(2)Se_(3)).The polarization flipping of the bi-In_(2)Se_(3)successfully drives transition between half-metal and semiconductor for the bi-NiI_(2).This intriguing phenomenon is attributed to the joint effect of polarization field-induced energy band shift and interfacial charge ***,the easy magnetization axis of the bi-NiI_(2)is also dependent on the polarization direction of the bi-In_(2)Se_(3).The half-metallicity and magnetic anisotropy energy of the bi-NiI_(2)in heterostructure can be effectively manipulated by *** findings provide not only a feasible strategy to achieve and control half-metallicity in 2D antiferromagnets,but also a promising candidate to design advanced nanodevices.

This study primarily investigates the rock fracture mechanism of bottom cushion layer blasting and explores the effects of the bottom cushion layer on rock *** involves analyses of the evolution patterns of blasting stress,characteristics of crack distribution,and rock fracture features in the ***,blasting model experiments were carried out using the dynamic caustics principle to investigate the influence of bottom cushion layers and initiation methods on the integrity of the bottom rock *** experimental results indicate that the combined use of bottom cushion layers and inverse initiation effectively protects the integrity of the bottom rock ***,the process of stress wave propagation and dynamic crack propagation in rocks was simulated using the continuum-discontinuum element method(CDEM)and the Landau explosion source model,with varying thicknesses of bottom cushion *** numerical simulation results indicate that with increasing cushion thickness,the absorption of energy generated by the explosion becomes more pronounced,resulting in fewer cracks in the bottom rock *** illustrates the positive role of the cushion layer in protecting the integrity of the bottom rock mass.

BACKGROUND: The wave form, latency and wave amplitude of visual evoked potentials (VEP) are obviously affected by the stimulative parameters, physiological status of the subjects and anesthetics, thus there are greater normal variations and individual differences. The features of flash VEP (F-VEP) are to be observed. OBJECTIVE: To observe and compare the differences of F-VEP latencies and wave amplitudes between eyes in rabbits, and investigate the correlation with sex and the side of eyes. DESIGN: A comparative animal experiment. SETTING: Department of Neurosurgery, General Hospital of Chinese PLA. MATERIALS: The experiment was carried out in the neurophysiological laboratory of the Institute of Neurosciences, General Hospital of Chinese PLA from September 2004 to February 2005. Thirty big-ear rabbits of clean degree, 15 males and 15 females, weighing 2.0-2.5 kg, were provided by the animal center of the General Hospital of Chinese PLA. METHODS: Viking-IV perioperative monitor and flash stimulator for special use were applied. The rabbits were anesthetized with intramuscular injection of compound ketamine. The recording electrode was placed at 3 mm anterior to exoccipital tuberosity (onion, Oz), and the reference electrode was placed at the ear edge of the same side. The stimulative frequency was 1.9 Hz, and the amplifier was 50 μV; The range of wave filter was 5 Hz for high pass and 100 Hz for low pass; The average overlapping was 200 times, and the analytical time was 250 ms. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of F-VEP wave forms; F-VEP latencies and wave amplitudes. RESULTS: All the 30 rabbits were involved in the analysis of results. ① Comparison of F-VEP wave forms in rabbits: The F-VEP waves mainly manifested as positive-negative-positive (PNP). The F-VEP manifestations to light stimulations were extremely similar between left and right eyes, and the wave amplitudes of both eyes were obviously increased. ② Determinations of F-VEP latencies and wave amplitudes:

Effect of pyrophosphate on the light scatter in KDP crystal

Pyrophosphate doped potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystal was grown from aqueous solution by the temperature lowering method. Light scatter in KDP crystal was detected with the ultramicroscopic method. The light scatter in KDP crystal was aggravated when pyro-phosphate was doped into the growth solution, which was distributed ununiformly in prism and pyramidal sectors of KDP crystal. Different effects of pyrophosphate on prism and pyramidal sectors of KDP crystal can explain this case. The transmission in this crystal was measured, showing that pyrophosphate affects the transmission evidently.

With tin diselenide(SnSe2)film as a saturable absorber(SA),the passively Q-switched self-frequency doubling(SFD)lasers were realized in Nd^3+:ReCa4O(BO3)3(Re=Y,Gd)*** Nd:YCa4O(BO3)3 crystal,the maximum average output power at 532 nm was 19.6 mW,and the corresponding pulse repetition frequency,pulse duration,single pulse energy,and peak power were 17.6 kHz,91.9 ns,1.1μJ,and 12.1 W,*** Nd:GdCa4 O(BO3)3 crystal,these values were 14.5 mW,22.1 kHz,48.7 ns,0.66μJ,and 13.5 W.

For the first time to our knowledge, graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_3N_4) nanosheets are found to be an excellent saturable absorber material in the visible waveband. g-C_3N_4 exhibits much stronger saturable absorption in this region than in the near-infrared region, unlike other two-dimensional materials such as graphene and black phosphorus. By the Z-scan method, the nonlinear absorption coefficient β of the material is first measured at three visible wavelengths, and for g-C_3N_4 it is -2.05,-0.34, and -0.11 cm · GW^(-1) at 355, 532, and 650 nm,respectively. These are much larger than -0.06 cm · GW^(-1) at 1064 nm.

For the first time,a group-Ⅵsingle element nanomaterial was used as the optical saturable absorber(SA)to generate laser *** two-dimensional(2D)tellurene as a passive Q-switch,1.06μm and 1.3μm pulse laser operations were realized from a diode-pumped Nd:YAG *** shortest pulse widths were 98 ns and 178 ns,and the highest peak powers were 2.68 W and 2.45 W,*** research determines that tellurene is an excellent SA material in the near-infrared region.
