In this study,sprayable strain-hardening fiber-reinforced cementitious composites(FRCC)were applied to strengthen the concrete slabs in a concrete-face rockfill dam(CFRD)for the first time.Experimental,numerical,and analytical investigations were carried out to understand the flexural properties of FRCC-layered concrete slabs.It was found that the FRCC layer improved the flexural performance of concrete slabs significantly.The cracking and ultimate loads of a concrete slab with an 80 mm FRCC layer were 132%and 69%higher than those of the unstrengthened concrete slab,respectively.At the maximum crack width of 0.2 mm,the deflection of the 80-mm FRCC strengthened concrete slab was 144%higher than that of the unstrengthened concrete slab.In addition,a FE model and a simplified analytical method were developed for the design and analysis of FRCC-layered concrete slabs.Finally,the test result of FRCC leaching solution indicated that the quality of the water surrounding FRCC satisfied the standard for drinking water.The findings of this study indicate that the sprayable strain-hardening FRCC has a good potential for strengthening hydraulic structures such as CFRDs.

Condition-based maintenance(CBM) is receiving increasing attention in various engineering systems because of its effectiveness. This paper formulates a new CBM optimization problem for continuously monitored degrading systems considering imperfect maintenance actions. In terms of maintenance actions,in practice, they scarcely restore the system to an as-good-as new state due to residual damage. According to up-to-data researches, imperfect maintenance actions are likely to speed up the degradation process. Regarding the developed CBM optimization strategy, it can balance the maintenance cost and the availability by the searching the optimal preventive maintenance threshold.The maximum number of maintenance is also considered, which is regarded as an availability constraint in the CBM optimization problem. A numerical example is introduced, and experimental results can demonstrate the novelty, feasibility and flexibility of the proposed CBM optimization strategy.

Multifunctional photodetectors boost the development of traditional optical communication technology and emerging artificial intelligence fields, such as robotics and autonomous driving. However, the current implementation of multifunctional detectors is based on the physical combination of optical lenses, gratings, and multiple photodetectors, the large size and its complex structure hinder the miniaturization, lightweight, and integration of devices. In contrast, perovskite materials have achieved remarkable progress in the field of multifunctional photodetectors due to their diverse crystal structures, simple morphology manipulation, and excellent optoelectronic properties. In this review, we first overview the crystal structures and morphology manipulation techniques of perovskite materials and then summarize the working mechanism and performance parameters of multifunctional photodetectors. Furthermore, the fabrication strategies of multifunctional perovskite photodetectors and their advancements are highlighted, including polarized light detection, spectral detection, angle-sensing detection, and selfpowered detection. Finally, the existing problems of multifunctional detectors and the perspectives of their future development are presented.

Tribology research mainly focuses on the friction,wear,and lubrication between interacting surfaces.With the continuous increase in the industrialization of human society,tribology research objects have become increasingly extensive.Tribology research methods have also gone through the stages of empirical science based on phenomena,theoretical science based on models,and computational science based on simulations.Tribology research has a strong engineering background.Owing to the intense coupling characteristics of tribology,tribological information includes subject information related to mathematics,physics,chemistry,materials,machinery,etc.Constantly emerging data and models are the basis for the development of tribology.The development of information technology has provided new and more efficient methods for generating,collecting,processing,and analyzing tribological data.As a result,the concept of"tribo-informatics(triboinformatics)"has been introduced.In this paper,guided by the framework of tribo-informatics,the application of tribo-informatics methods in tribology is reviewed.This article aims to provide helpful guidance for efficient and scientific tribology research using tribo-informatics approaches.

Seismic data reconstruction is an essential and yet fundamental step in seismic data processing workflow,which is of profound significance to improve migration imaging quality,multiple suppression effect,and seismic inversion accuracy.Regularization methods play a central role in solving the underdetermined inverse problem of seismic data reconstruction.In this paper,a novel regularization approach is proposed,the low dimensional manifold model(LDMM),for reconstructing the missing seismic data.Our work relies on the fact that seismic patches always occupy a low dimensional manifold.Specifically,we exploit the dimension of the seismic patches manifold as a regularization term in the reconstruction problem,and reconstruct the missing seismic data by enforcing low dimensionality on this manifold.The crucial procedure of the proposed method is to solve the dimension of the patches manifold.Toward this,we adopt an efficient dimensionality calculation method based on low-rank approximation,which provides a reliable safeguard to enforce the constraints in the reconstruction process.Numerical experiments performed on synthetic and field seismic data demonstrate that,compared with the curvelet-based sparsity-promoting L1-norm minimization method and the multichannel singular spectrum analysis method,the proposed method obtains state-of-the-art reconstruction results.

Pre-stack seismic inversion is an important method for fluid identification and reservoir characterization in exploration geophysics. In this study, an effective fluid factor is initially established based on Biot poroelastic theory, and a pre-stack seismic inversion method based on Bayesian framework is used to implement the fluid identification. Compared with conventional elastic parameters, fluid factors are more sensitive to oil and gas. However, the coupling effect between rock porosity and fluid content is not considered in conventional fluid factors, which may lead to fuzzy fluid identification results. In addition,existing fluid factors do not adequately consider the physical mechanisms of fluid content, such as squirt flow between cracks and pores. Therefore, we propose a squirt fluid factor(SFF) that minimizes the fluid and pore mixing effects and takes into account the squirt flow. On this basis, a novel P-wave reflection coefficient equation is derived, and the squirt fluid factor is estimated by amplitude variation with offset(AVO) inversion method. The new reflection coefficient equation has sufficient accuracy and can be utilized to estimate the parameters. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method in fluid identification are verified by the synthetic and field examples.

Monitoring the change in horizontal stress from the geophysical data is a tough challenge, and it has a crucial impact on broad practical scenarios which involve reservoir exploration and development, carbon dioxide (CO_(2)) injection and storage, shallow surface prospecting and deep-earth structure description. The change in in-situ stress induced by hydrocarbon production and localized tectonic movements causes the changes in rock mechanic properties (e.g. wave velocities, density and anisotropy) and further causes the changes in seismic amplitudes, phases and travel times. In this study, the nonlinear elasticity theory that regards the rock skeleton (solid phase) and pore fluid as an effective whole is used to characterize the effect of horizontal principal stress on rock overall elastic properties and the stress-dependent anisotropy parameters are therefore formulated. Then the approximate P-wave, SV-wave and SH-wave angle-dependent reflection coefficient equations for the horizontal-stress-induced anisotropic media are proposed. It is shown that, on the different reflectors, the stress-induced relative changes in reflectivities (i.e., relative difference) of elastic parameters (i.e., P- and S-wave velocities and density) are much less than the changes in contrasts of anisotropy parameters. Therefore, the effects of stress change on the reflectivities of three elastic parameters are reasonably neglected to further propose an AVO inversion approach incorporating P-, SH- and SV-wave information to estimate the change in horizontal principal stress from the corresponding time-lapse seismic data. Compared with the existing methods, our method eliminates the need for man-made rock-physical or fitting parameters, providing more stable predictive power. 1D test illustrates that the estimated result from time-lapse P-wave reflection data shows the most reasonable agreement with the real model, while the estimated result from SH-wave reflection data shows the largest bias. 2D test illustrates the feasibility of the pr

Human adipose-derived stem cells(hASCs)are a promising cell type for bone tissue regeneration.Circular RNAs(circRNAs)have been shown to play a critical role in regulating various cell differentiation and involve in mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis.However,how circRNAs regulate hASCs in osteogenesis is still unclear.Herein,we found circ_0003204 was significantly downregulated during osteogenic differentiation of hASCs.Knockdown of circ_0003204 by si RNA or overexpression by lentivirus confirmed circ_0003204 could negatively regulate the osteogenic differentiation of hASCs.We performed dual-luciferase reporting assay and rescue experiments to verify circ_0003204 regulated osteogenic differentiation via sponging miR-370-3p.We predicted and confirmed that miR-370-3p had targets in the 3′-UTR of HDAC4 m RNA.The following rescue experiments indicated that circ_0003204 regulated the osteogenic differentiation of hASCs via miR-370-3p/HDAC4 axis.Subsequent in vivo experiments showed the silencing of circ_0003204 increased the bone formation and promoted the expression of osteogenic-related proteins in a mouse bone defect model,while overexpression of circ_0003204 inhibited bone defect repair.Our findings indicated that circ_0003204 might be a promising target to promote the efficacy of hASCs in repairing bone defects.

It remains a challenge to achieve satisfactory balance between biodegradability and osteogenic capacity in biosynthetic bone grafts.In this study,we aimed to address this challenge by incorporating mesoporous bioactive glass(MBG)into poly(caprolactone-co-glycolide)(PGA-PCL)at gradient ratios.MBG/PGA-PCL(PGC/M)scaffolds with MBG incorporation ratio at 0,10%,25%and 40%(PGC/M0-40)were synthesized using a modified solvent casting-particulate leaching method,and their physiochemical and biological properties were comprehensively evaluated.PGC/M scaffolds exhibited highly perforated porous structure with a large-pore size of 300-450μm,with ordered MBGs of around 6.0 nm mesopores size uniformly dispersed.The increase in MBG incorporation ratio significantly improved the scaffold surface hydrophilicity,apatite-formation ability and pH stability,increased the weight loss rate while insignificantly influenced the molecular chains degradation of PGA-PCL component,and facilitated the attachment,spreading,viability and proliferation of rat bone marrow stromal cells(rBMSCs)on scaffolds.Moreover,rBMSCs cultured on PGC/M10-40 scaffolds demonstrated enhanced ALP activity and osteogenesis-related gene expression in a MBG dose-dependent manner as compared with those cultured on PGC/M0 scaffolds.When implanted to the rat cranial bone defect,PGC/M25 and PGC/M40 scaffolds induced significantly better bone repair as compared to PGC/M0 and PGC/M10 scaffolds.Besides,the biodegradability of PGC/M scaffolds correlated with the MBG incorporation ratio.These data suggested this novel PGC/M scaffolds as promising bone repair biomaterial with highly tunable hydrophilicity,bioactivity,cytocompatibility,osteogenic activity as well as biodegradability.

Distribution and bioavailability of mercury in size-fractioned atmospheric particles around an ultra-low emission power plant in Southwest China

Ultra-low emission(ULE)technology retrofits significantly impact the particulate-bound mercury(Hg)emissions from coal-fired power plants(CFPPs);however,the distribution and bioavailability of Hg in size-fractioned particulate matter(PM)around the ULE-retrofitted CF-PPs are less understood.Here,total Hg and its chemical speciation in TSP(total suspended particles),PM_(10)(aerodynamic particle diameter≤10μm)and PM_(2.5)(aerodynamic particle diameter≤2.5μm)around a ULE-retrofitted CFPP in Guizhou Province were quantified.Atmospheric PM_(2.5)concentration was higher around this ULE-retrofitted CFPP than that in the intra-regional urban cities,and it had higher mass Hg concentration than other sizefractioned PM.Total Hg concentrations in PM had multifarious sources including CFPP,vehicle exhaust and biomass combustion,while they were significantly higher in autumn and winter than those in other seasons(P40%).Mass concentrations of exchangeable,HCl-soluble,elemental,and residual Hg in PM_(2.5)were higher than those in other size-fractioned PM,and were markedly elevated in autumn and winter(P<0.05).In PM_(2.5),HCl-soluble Hg presented a significantly positive relationship with elemental Hg(P<0.05),while residual Hg showed the significantly positive relationships with HCl-soluble Hg and elemental Hg(P<0.01).Overall,these results suggested that atmospheric PM-bound Hg around the ULE-retrofitted CFPP tends to accumulate in finer PM,and has higher bioavailable fractions,while has potential transformation between chemical speciation.
