Expression of ornithine decarboxylase in precancerous and cancerous gastric lesions

AIM: To investigate the expression of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) in precancerous and cancerous gastric lesions. METHODS: We studied the expression of ODC in gastric mucosa from patients with chronic superficial gastritis (CSG,n = 32),chronic atrophic gastritis CAG,n = 43; 15 with and 28 without intestinal metaplasia (IM),gastric dysplasia (DYS,n = 11) and gastric cancer (GC,n = 48) tissues using immunohistochemical staining. All 134 biopsy specimens of gastric mucosa were collected by gastroscopy. METHODS: The positive rate of ODC expression was 34.4%,42.9%,73.3%,81.8% and 91.7% in cases with CSG,CAG without IM,CAG with IM,DYS and GC,respectively (P < 0.01),The positive rate of ODC expression increased in the order of CSG < CAG (without IM) < CAG (with IM) < DYS and finally,GC. In addition,ODC positive immunostaining rate was lower in well-differentiated GC than in poorly-differentiated GC (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The expression of ODC is positively correlated with the degree of malignity of gastric mucosa and development of gastric lesions. This finding indicates that ODC may be used as a good biomarker in the screening and diagnosis of precancerous lesions.

Objective:To investigate the effects of pectic polysaccharides extracted from Rauwolfia verticillata(Lour.) *** Tsiang on an experimental murine colitis ***:Experimental colitis was induced by dextran sulfate sodium(DSS),and mice were divided into 4 groups:*** *** plus SASP,DSS plus pectic *** disease activity index(DAI) and histological score were *** tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α and interleukin(IL)-17 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.I κ B and NF-κB p65 expression were assessed by western blot ***(MPO) activity was determined by using MPO assay ***:Administration of pectic polysaccharides significantly reduced the severity of DSS-induced colitis as assessed by DAT and histological score,and resulted in down regulation of MPO activity and NF-κB p65 expression and subsequent degradation of IκB protein,strikingly reduced the production of TNF-α and ***:Pectic polysaccharides extracted from Rauvolfia verticillata(Lour.)*** Tsiang exerts beneficial effects in experimental colitis and may therefore provide a useful therapeutic approach for the treatment of UC.

It has been shown clinically that continuous removal of ischemia/reperfusion-induced reactive oxygen species is not conducive to the recovery of late ***,previous studies have shown that excessive increases in hypochlorous acid after stroke can cause severe damage to brain *** previous studies have found that a small amount of hypochlorous acid still exists in the later stage of stroke,but its specific role and mechanism are currently *** simulate stroke in vivo,a middle cerebral artery occlusion rat model was established,with an oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation model established in vitro to mimic *** found that in the early stage(within 24 hours)of ischemic stroke,neutrophils produced a large amount of hypochlorous acid,while in the recovery phase(10 days after stroke),microglia were activated and produced a small amount of hypochlorous ***,in acute stroke in rats,hypochlorous acid production was prevented using a hypochlorous acid scavenger,taurine,or myeloperoxidase inhibitor,4-aminobenzoic acid *** results showed that high levels of hypochlorous acid(200μM)induced neuronal apoptosis after oxygen/glucose deprivation/***,in the recovery phase of the middle cerebral artery occlusion model,a moderate level of hypochlorous acid promoted the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells into neurons and *** suggests that hypochlorous acid plays different roles at different phases of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** levels of hypochlorous acid(5 and 100μM)promoted nuclear translocation ofβ-*** transfection of single-site mutation plasmids,we found that hypochlorous acid induced chlorination of theβ-catenin tyrosine 30 residue,which promoted nuclear ***,our study indicates that maintaining low levels of hypochlorous acid plays a key role in the recovery of neurological function.

Performance Analysis of TCP-Reno and TCP-Sack in the Case of a Single Source

This work explores the behavior of both TCP-Reno and TCP-Sack under a simple scenario, where a single TCP source transmits the packets continuously over a single bottleneck node characterized by its queue size, bandwidth and propagation delay. The analysis allows to derive the performance of TCP, the utilization tends to 75% of the bottleneck throughput when the bandwidth×propagation delay pipe becomes very large, while it tends to 100% when the queuing delays are predominant because the queue is never empty. In the transient analysis we show how the initial phase of the session can degrade the performances. These results are proved through simulation.

目的探讨体医融合对慢性心力衰竭患者心功能的疗效及安全性评价。方法本研究为单中心、单盲、随机对照试验。纳入2023年6月1日至2024年6月1日就诊于三明市中西医结合医院的慢性心力衰竭患者80例作为研究对象,通过随机数字表法将其分为对照组(n=40)和研究组(n=40),对照组予基础治疗,研究组在基础治疗的基础上给予体医融合方案,疗程为12周,对比两组生活质量、运动耐力、心血管健康状况、心脏结构及生化检查。结果治疗后,研究组相较于对照组左心室射血分数(LVEF)、6 min步行距离(6MWD)更高,明尼苏达心衰生活质量量表(MLHFQ)、静息心率(RHR)、左心室舒张末期内径(LVEDD)、左心室收缩末期内径(LVESD)、左心房内径(LAD)、主动脉根部内径(AoD)、去甲肾上腺素(NA)、氨基末端脑利钠肽前体(NT-proBNP)更低(均P<0.05)。结论体医融合对慢性心力衰竭患者生活质量、心脏结构、理化指标均有良好的改善作用。

Combining Monte Carlo and Ensemble Probabilities in Tropical Cyclone Forecasts near Landfall

The Monte Carlo probability(MCP)model,which has been used for official tropical cyclone(TC)warnings to the public by the United States’National Hurricane Center(NHC),can estimate the probability of wind speed in the vicinity of a TC during the forecast *** has been successful in the operational environment for many ***,due to its strong dependence on a given forecast track(e.g.,forecast from the NCEP Global Forecast System),the MCP model may generate a poor probability map for TCs near *** this study,we proposed and tested a modified MCP method for TC forecasts near *** first adjusted the MCP model by adding limits to the direction angle and motion distance to deal with the substantial change in TC moving direction and the low wind speeds during ***,we combined ensemble probability maps generated from ECMWF,United Kingdom Met Office(UKMO),and NCEP ensemble forecasts,obtained from The International Grand Global Ensemble(TIGGE),into the MCP model to configure a modified MCP *** speed probability maps for the 0-120-h forecast from both the original and modified MCP models are *** is found that the modified MCP model can provide a better wind speed probability map during landfall,especially at wind speeds of 20-64 kt near TC *** results from this study prove the benefits of combining the MCP model with ensemble forecasting in potential applications for improved TC forecasts.

The coupling of capillary electrophoresis to electrospray Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS) was presented for the on-line separation and detection of mixture of peptides. With the ultra-high resolution and unmatchable mass measurement accuracy FT-ICR-MS provides, the separation and identification of angiotensin III, octreotide and elastin chemotactic were successfully achieved using this fabricated device, which showed its great application potential in detection and structural identification for multicomponent sample.

Industrial Production of Catalyst for Removing Trace Olefins from Aromatics

A novel additive incorporated into the catalyst for removing trace olefins from aromatics was proposed, and under the laboratory conditions the lifetime of the catalyst was increased from 5 h to 8 h upon specifying the conversion of the olefins equating to more than 55% as a criterion. Catalyst production, which was named ROC, has been successfully scaled up from laboratory formulations to commercial scale manufacture and over 100 tons of catalyst had been produced. The superiority in catalytic activity was identified by the evaluation tests of the ROC catalyst based on whatever kind of feedstocks (with their bromine index ranging from 400 mgBr/100g to 1 200 mgBr/100g) being used as the feedstock. The X-ray diffraction patterns had verified that the additive was highly dispersed on the surface of catalyst; the GC-FID analysis results showed that the ROC catalyst could increase the xylene content; the pyridine-FTIR spectroscopic analyses suggested that the additive could increase the amount of the weak L acids, which was the main cause leading to enhancement of the catalyst activity.

Contact stiffness and damping of spiral bevel gears under transient mixed lubrication conditions

Existing studies primarily focus on stiffness and damping under full-film lubrication or dry contact ***,most lubricated transmission components operate in the mixed lubrication region,indicating that both the asperity contact and film lubrication exist on the rubbing ***,a novel method is proposed to evaluate the time-varying contact stiffness and damping of spiral bevel gears under transient mixed lubrication *** method is sufficiently robust for addressing any mixed lubrication state regardless of the severity of the asperity *** on this method,the transient mixed contact stiffness and damping of spiral bevel gears are investigated *** results show a significant difference between the transient mixed contact stiffness and damping and the results from Hertz(dry)*** addition,the roughness significantly changes the contact stiffness and damping,indicating the importance of film lubrication and asperity *** transient mixed contact stiffness and damping change significantly along the meshing path from an engaging-in to an engaging-out point,and both of them are affected by the applied torque and rotational *** addition,the middle contact path is recommended because of its comprehensive high stiffness and damping,which maintained the stability of spiral bevel gear transmission.
