A NIR fluorescent probe(DDAA) derived from fluorophore DDAO with alanine as the recognition group was developed for sensing aminopeptidase N(APN) in gut *** DDAA as the real-time guidance tool for the fluorescence imaging of intestinal microorganism,target bacteria and saccharomycete possessing active APN were identified successfully from human feces.

Progress on pollen-stigma compatibility in Corylus (hazelnuts): a review

The genus Corylus is an important member in the Betulaceae family of the order Fagales. Self-incompatibility is one of the choke points in breeding and hazelnut production. This reviewe describes, the progress on pollen-stigma compatibility in Corylus, including basic re- productive characteristics, S-alleles testing and their applications, in- ter-specific hybridization, self-compatibility in wild species, and recent molecular research on the genetic mechanism of compatibility. Com- pared with other species, progress on pollen-stigma compatibility （sporophytic self-incompatibility, SSI） in Corylus is slow, especially those in the Brassicaceae family. De novo approaches should be used to target the unique reproductive characteristics of hazelnuts. The continu- ous improvement of technological platforms based on molecular biology should broaden the pathways in investigating compatibility in Corylus. In addition, research should be conducted on overcoming self- and cross- incompatibility, and approaches based on biological, chemical, and physical principles should be introduced. Both theoretical and practical study of compatibility in Corylus should be devoted to change the self-incompatibility trait into a benefit in the species evolvement and nut quality establishment.

Bacterial infections may lead to diverse acute or chronic diseases （e.g., inflammation, sepsis and cancer）. New antibiotics against bacteria are rarely discovered in recent years, which necessitates the exploration of new antibacterial agents. Engineered nanomatetials {ENMs） have been extensively studied for antibacterial use because of their long lasting killing effects in wide spectra of bacteria. Graphene oxide （GO） is one of the most widely studied ENMs and exhibit strong bactericidal effects. The physicochemical properties of GO play important roles in bacterial killing by triggering a cascade of toxic events. many studies have explored the signaling pathways of GO in bacteria. Although molecular initiating events （MIEs） of GO in bacteria dominate its killing efficiency as well as toxicity mechanisms, they have been rarely reviewed. In this report, we discussed the structure-activity relationships （SARs） involved in GOinduced bacterial killing and the MIEs including redox reaction with biomolecules, mechanical destruction of membranes and catalysis of extracellular metabolites. Furthermore, we summarized the clinical or commercial applications of GO-based antibacterial products and discussed their biosafety in mammal. Finally, we reviewed the remaining challenges in GO for antibacterial applications, which may offer new insights for the development of nano antibacterial studies.

The durable red phosphorus(RP)anode for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)has attracted great attention owing to its high theoretical specific capacity(2596 ma·h·g^(-1))and moderate lithiation potential(~0.7 V ***^(+)/Li).However,its intrinsic poor electrical conductivity,enormous volume expansion,and soluble intermediates(lithium polyphosphides,Li_(x)PP_(s))lead to poor cycling *** overcome these issues,we introduce a new type of wrinkle carbon spheres as the host for loading phosphorus through a vaporization-condensation *** functional theory calculations reveal that the wrinkle carbon sphere shows strong binding energy with P4 molecule,accelerating the adsorption and polymerization of P4,thus enhancing RP conversion in the preparation *** the lithiation/delithiation process,the wrinkle carbon has strong bonding with phosphorus and strong adsorption with Li_(x)PP_(s),resulting in excellent cycling *** design strategy to modify RP polymerization via reforming the interaction between wrinkle carbon spheres and phosphorus expands the application of RP for LIBs and beyond.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)have attracted widespread attention due to the advantages of high safety and environmental *** V_(2)O_(3) is a promising cathode,the strong electrostatic interaction between Zn^(2+) and V_(2)O_(3) crystal,and the sluggish reaction kinetics still limit their application in ***,the oxygen defects rich V_(2)O_(3) with conducive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT)shell(V_(2)O_(3)-Od@PEDOT)was fabricated for AZIBs by combining the sulfur-assisted thermal reduction and in-situ polymerization *** introduced oxygen vacancies of V_(2)O_(3)–Od@PEDOT weaken the electrostatic interaction between Zn^(2+) and the host material,improving the interfacial electron transport,while the PEDOT coating enhances the structural stability and conductivity of V_(2)O_(3),thus accelerating the reaction *** on the advantages,V_(2)O_(3)–Od@PEDOT electrode delivers a reversible capacity of 495 mah·g^(−1) at 0.1 A·g^(−1),good rate capability(189 mah·g^(−1)at 8.0 A·g^(−1)),and an impressive cycling stability with 90.1%capacity retention over 1000 cycles at 8.0 A·g^(−1).The strategy may provide a path for exploiting the other materials for high performance AZIBs.

Circadian clocks have important physiological and behavioral functions in humans and other organisms, which enable organisms to anticipate and respond to periodic environmental changes. Disturbances in circadian rhythms impair sleep, metabolism, and behavior. People with jet lag, night workers and shift workers are vulnerable to circadian misalignment. In addition, non-24-h cycles influence circadian rhythms and cause misalignment and disorders in different species, since these periods are beyond the entrainment ranges. In certain special conditions, e.g., on submarines and commercial ships, non-24-h watch schedules are often employed, which have also been demonstrated to be deleterious to circadian rhythms. Personnel working under such conditions suffer from circadian misalignment with their on-watch hours, leading to increased health risks and decreased cognitive performance. In this review, we summarize the research progress and knowledge concerning circadian rhythms on submarines and other environments in which non-24-h watch schedules are employed.

Through quantitative statistics and morphological characterization of ceramic fragments for ceramic composite bulletproof insert plates(CCBIPs),distribution characteristics of ceramic fragments within a specific size range were analyzed for different Armor Piercing Incendiary(API)and shot *** quantitatively evaluate the effect of energy absorption for ceramic plates,a model of energy absorption during penetration for CCBIPs was established based on statistics of the size distribution of ceramic fragments(SDCF).Variation in the SDCF and its influence on energy absorption for CCBIPs were *** results indicate that the distribution feature of ceramic fragments in the range of 0.25-2.25 mm is Gaussian *** with Type 56 of API(56-API),ceramic fragments formed by 53-API with higher kinetic energy possess more quantity and more concentrated distribution,whose average equivalence size decreases by 6.5%,corresponding to increasing by 83.9%of estimated energy ***,the ability of CCBIPs to resist the third shot is significantly weakened,whose estimated energy absorption decreases by 58.8%compared with the first *** concentrated distribution and fewer fragments are formed after the third shot,the average equivalence size of ceramic fragments increases by 6.9%,which may attribute to the micro-cracks induced by the previous two shots.

An improved ensemble empirical mode decomposition(IEEMD) is suggested to process water quality spectral signals in order to address the issue that noise interference makes it difficult to extract and evaluate water quality spectral *** algorithm effectively solves the problems of modal mixing,poor reconstruction accuracy in the empirical mode decomposition(EMD),and a large amount of calculation in the ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD).Based on EEMD,IEEMD firstly preprocesses the original water quality spectral signals,then performs Savitzky-Golay(S-G) smoothing on the decomposed effective intrinsic mode function(IMF) components,and finally reconstructs them to obtain the denoised *** sample data at different concentrations can be accurately analyzed based on the noise-reduced spectral *** this paper,three water quality parameters are used as research objects:benzene(C_(6)H_(6)),benzo(b)fluoranthene(C_(20)H_(12)),and chemical oxygen demand(COD).The original water quality multi-parameter(C_(6)H_(6),C_(20)H_(12),COD) spectral signals were subjected to denoising based on the IEEMD and the water quality multi-parameter joint detection *** signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and the correlation coefficient(R^(2)) of the fitted curves obtained from the processing of the IEEMD were compared and analyzed with those obtained from the processing of the EMD and the *** experimental results show that the SNR of the spectral signals and the R^(2) of the fitting curve in three water quality parameters have been significantly ***,the IEEMD effectively improves the phenomenon of modal mixing,reduces the amount of calculation,improves the reconstruction accuracy,and provides an important guarantee for the effective extraction of multi-parameter spectral signals of water quality.
