Rotating magnetic field inhibits Aβ protein aggregation and alleviates cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s disease mice

Amyloid beta(Aβ)monomers aggregate to form fibrils and amyloid plaques,which are critical mechanisms in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease(AD).Given the important role of Aβ1-42 aggregation in plaque formation,leading to brain lesions and cognitive impairment,numerous studies have aimed to reduce Aβaggregation and slow AD *** diphenylalanine(FF)sequence is critical for amyloid aggregation,and magnetic fields can affect peptide alignment due to the diamagnetic anisotropy of aromatic *** this study,we examined the effects of a moderate-intensity rotating magnetic field(RmF)on Aβaggregation and AD *** indicated that the RmF directly inhibited Aβamyloid fibril formation and reduced Aβ-induced cytotoxicity in neural cells in *** the AD mouse model APP/PS1,RmF restored motor abilities to healthy control levels and significantly alleviated cognitive impairments,including exploration and spatial and non-spatial memory *** examinations demonstrated that RmF reduced amyloid plaque accumulation,attenuated microglial activation,and reduced oxidative stress in the APP/PS1 mouse *** findings suggest that RmF holds considerable potential as a non-invasive,high-penetration physical approach for AD treatment.

Attention to competitive diving injuries:A systematic review

Competitive diving is a popular sport that attracts numerous participants worldwide;unfortunately,competitive divers experience a notable frequency of injuries during training and *** this,injuries in diving often received less attention compared to those in other aquatic *** purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic review to update the scientific evidence on injury incidence in competitive divers to offer insights into the prevalent injury patterns and help develop injury prevention *** involved analyzing injury data collected from the Injury Surveillance Programme(ISP)across various levels of competition events and assessing case reports involving a wide spectrum of diving *** online bibliographical databases were consulted:Google Scholar,Pubmed,Scops,and Web of Science from their inception until December 6,2023.819 studies were initially identified,and 15 studies were finally included in this *** Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and meta-Analyses(PRISm)guidelines and PRISmA in Exercise,Rehabilitation,Sport medicine,and Sport Science(PERSiST)were *** independent reviewers evaluated the methodological quality of the *** majority of diving injuries are concentrated on the upper body/trunk,including the shoulder,spine,hand/wrist,head/face,and neck,with overuse injury being a main *** diving incidence,the actual injury rate in competitive athletes could be even higher than currently reported,primarily due to limitations in implementing injury surveillance protocol for diving *** latest injury data for diving in big competition events is absent,and there is a strong expectation for more new injury surveillance data to be published in the ***,the specific injury pattern,prevention strategy,and rehabilitation training plan for diving injury are severely deficient in the current literature.

In situ meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin ligand substitution in Hf-mOF for enhanced catalytic activity and stability in photoredox reactions

Though there are numerous intrinsic merits of metal-organic frameworks(mOFs),low charge separation efficiency has imposed heavy restrictions on their photocatalytic ***,in situ porphyrin ligand substitution,as a strategy for improving the charge separation efficiency and increasing the amounts of active sites,has been designed and realized in a Hf-biphenyl dicarboxylic acid(BPDC)***,a size and geometry matched meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin(TCPP)ligand was selected and doped into Hf-BPDC mOF by forming coordinating bonds with Hf centers,forming dualligand Hf-BPDC-TCPP *** resultant Hf-BPDC-TCPP mOF showed significantly improved activity and chemical stability in the photocatalytic H_(2)generation(261μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1))and tetracycline(TC)degradation reactions(95.8%),which was 48 and 1.47 folds higher than that of the Hf-BPDC *** and electrochemical studies revealed that the introduction of porphyrin ligand could generate a stronger internal electric field for boosting the charge separation and transfer,increase the specific surface area for providing more active sites,and narrow the band gap to enhance the visible light *** in situ ligand substitution method provides a promising approach to build a tunable platform for constructing high-performance mOF photocatalysts.

Cadmium found in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) kernels mainly originates from root uptake rather than shell absorption from soil

Roots and shells are two potential organs through which peanut plants absorb cadium(Cd)from soils;however,the relative contributions of the two uptake pathways(root uptake and shell absorption)to kernel Cd accumulation and their translocation characteristics are poorly *** this study,the relative contributions of the two pathways to Cd accumulation in two peanut cultivars,Xianghua2008(XH)and Yueyou43(YY),were accurately assessed by labeling rooting and podding zone soils with 113Cd and 111Cd isotopes(0.3 mg kg^(-1) dry soil),respectively,in a split-pot *** results showed that approximately 96%of the Cd accumulated in the peanut kernels was derived from root uptake,while only 4%originated from shell *** 1%of the Cd accumulated in whole peanut plants was attributed to shell absorption,of which 41%–44%was retained in shells and 56%–59%was translocated to *** contrast,the Cd absorbed by roots was efficiently translocated into all plant organs,of which 80%–84%was distributed in *** YY accumulated 1.3 times more Cd in whole plants than XH,the relative contributions of the two pathways to Cd accumulation in each plant organ were barely affected by peanut *** to the strong retention effect of shells,shell-derived Cd was approximately 2 times higher than root-derived Cd in *** results would improve the understanding of Cd accumulation processes in peanut plants,revealing that the root uptake pathway contributes predominantly to the Cd concentration in peanut kernels,based on which strategies and technology for the reduction of Cd in peanut plants could be designed and developed.

mapping soil organic matter in cultivated land based on multi-year composite images on monthly time scales

Rapid and accurate acquisition of soil organic matter(SOm)information in cultivated land is important for sustainable agricultural development and carbon balance *** study proposed a novel approach to predict SOm with high accuracy using multiyear synthetic remote sensing variables on a monthly *** obtained 12 monthly synthetic Sentinel-2 images covering the study area from 2016 to 2021 through the Google Earth Engine(GEE)platform,and reflectance bands and vegetation indices were extracted from these composite *** the random forest(RF),support vector machine(SVm)and gradient boosting regression tree(GBRT)models were tested to investigate the difference in SOm prediction accuracy under different combinations of monthly synthetic *** showed that firstly,all monthly synthetic spectral bands of Sentinel-2 showed a significant correlation with SOm(Pmonths of January,march,April,October,and ***,in terms of single-monthly composite variables,the prediction accuracy was relatively poor,with the highest R^(2)value of 0.36 being observed in *** monthly synthetic environmental variables were grouped in accordance with the four quarters of the year,the first quarter and the fourth quarter showed good performance,and any combination of three quarters was similar in estimation *** overall best performance was observed when all monthly synthetic variables were incorporated into the ***,among the three models compared,the RF model was consistently more accurate than the SVm and GBRT models,achieving an R^(2)value of *** for band 12 in December,the importance of the remaining bands did not exhibit significant *** research offers a new attempt to map SOm with high accuracy and fine spatial resolution based on monthly synthetic Sentinel-2 images.

Effectivenss of electroacupuncture for skeletal muscle pain in Parkinson's disease:a Clinical randomized controlled trial

Effect of Al content in molten steel on interaction between mgO-C refractory and SPHC steel

The effect of Al content in molten steel on the interaction between SPHC steel(0.005-0.068 wt.%Al,and 19×10^(-4)-58×10^(-4)wt.%O)and mgO-C refractory(11.63 wt.%C)was ***-metallic inclusions in the steel were examined at various periods(0,5,15,30,45,and 60 min)as well as the mgO-C interface after 60 min of corrosion at 1600℃.The results show that when mgO-C refractory comes into contact with SPHC steel,the refractory interface consists of three layers arranged from the innermost to the outermost,including the original refractory layer,the dense mgO layer,and the iron infiltration *** carbon in the mgO-C refractories and the Al content in the molten steel undergo a reaction with the mgO in the refractories,resulting in an increase in mg concentration in the *** Al content in the molten steel from 0.005 to 0.068 wt.%causes a spinel layer to appear at the interface,and the disappearance time of Al_(2)O_(3) inclusions in the steel decreases from 60 to 30 min,while the average mgO content in inclusions ***,controlling the Al content in the molten steel and the smelting duration can help regulate the formation of spinel inclusionsinthe steel.

Incorporation of source contributions to improve the accuracy of soil heavy metal mapping using small sample sizes at a county scale

Estimating heavy metal(Hm) distribution with high precision is the key to effectively preventing Chinese medicinal plants from being polluted by the native soil. A total of 44 surface soil samples were gathered to detect the concentrations of eight Hms(As, Hg, Cu, Cr, Ni, Zn, Pb, and Cd) in the herb growing area of Luanping County, northeastern Hebei Province, China. An absolute principal component score-multiple linear regression(APCS-mLR) model was used to quantify pollution source contributions to soil Hms. Furthermore, the source contribution rates and environmental data of each sampling point were simultaneously incorporated into a stepwise linear regression model to identify the crucial indicators for predicting soil Hm spatial distributions. Results showed that 88% of Cu, 72% of Cr, and 72% of Ni came from natural sources;50% of Zn, 49% of Pb, and 59% of Cd were mainly caused by agricultural activities;and 44% of As and 56% of Hg originated from industrial activities. When three-type(natural, agricultural, and industrial) source contribution rates and environmental data were simultaneously incorporated into the stepwise linear regression model, the fitting accuracy was significantly improved and the model could explain 31%–86% of the total variance in soil Hm concentrations. This study introduced three-type source contributions of each sampling point based on APCS-mLR analysis as new covariates to improve soil Hm estimation precision, thus providing a new approach for predicting the spatial distribution of Hms using small sample sizes at the county scale.
