Comparison of fondaparinux sodium and low molecular weight heparin in the treatment of hypercoagulability secondary to traumatic infection

Purpose:To compare the effects and side-effects of fondaparinux sodium and low molecular weight heparin in patients with hypercoagulability accompanied with traumatic infection.Methods:Thirty-six patients with post-traumatic infections in our hospital intensive care center were diagnosed with hypercoagulability from February 2012 to February 2013. These patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. In group F (18 patients), the patients were treated with fondaparinux sodium, 2.5 mg, 1/d for 11 d. In group L (18 patients), the patients were treated with low molecular weight heparin, 4100 U, 1/12 h for 11 d. The incidence of deep vein thrombosis, bleeding events and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and mortality of two groups after anticoagulation therapy were analyzed. Fibrinogen, D-dimer level and activity of antithrombin III were measured by the coagulation analyzer.Results:The incidence of deep vein thrombosis, MODS incidence and mortality were not significantly different between the two groups. The rate of bleeding evens in group F was lower than group L ( p 0.05). D-dimer was significantly decreased after anticoagulant therapy for 5 d ( p 0.05). Conclusion:Fondaparinux sodium and low molecular weight heparin can effectively improve coagulopathy in patients with traumatic infection. Compared with low molecular weight heparin, fondaparinux sodium may reduce the risk of bleeding events in patients with hypercoagulability accompanied by traumatic infection.

The World Health Organization(WHO)released the World Report on Hearing on March 2,2021.The WHO estimated that by 2050,nearly 2.5 billion(1 in 4 people)would be living with some degree of hearing loss,and at least 700 million of whom would require rehabilitation services(1).The risk factors that cause hearing loss not only include occupational but also non-occupational factors,such as,high-level exposure of noise and ototoxic chemicals at workplaces,age.

Noise-induced hearing loss(NIHL)has become a global public health problem,and the economic burden of hearing loss caused by noise exposure accounts for 19.6%of the economic burden of all risk factors in the workplace(1).The prevalence of occupational NIHL was estimated to be 10%in relevant occupational population in developed countries and 17%–39%(e.g.,textile and petrochemical industries),and 53%–67%(e.g.,cement and automobile industries)in developing countries in Asia,respectively.(2).In China,occupational noiseinduced deafness has become the second primary occupational disease after pneumoconiosis,with the number of reported cases increasing at an average annual rate of 18.68%from 2010 to 2019(3–4).The prevalence of occupational NIHL in the Chinese occupational population was 21.3%,of which 30.2%was related to high-frequency NIHL(an early sign of NIHL)(2).

Artificial intelligence(AI)has made a profound impact on our daily life.The 6 th generation mobile networks(6G)should be designed to enable AI services.The native intelligence is introduced as an important feature in 6G.6G native AI network is realized by the philosophy of federated learning(FL)to ensure data security and privacy.Federated learning over wireless communication networks is treated as a potential solution to realize native AI.However,introducing FL in the 6G will lead to expansive communication cost and unstable FL convergence with unreliable air interface.In this paper,we propose a solution for FL over wireless networks and analyze the training efficiency.To make full use of the advantages of the proposed network,we introduce a communication-FL joint optimization(CFJO)algorithm by jointly considering the effects of uplink resource,energy consumption and latency constraints.CFJO derives a transmission strategy with resource allocation and retransmissions to reduce the wireless transmission interruption probability and model upload latency.The simulation results show that CFJO significantly improves the model training efficiency and convergence performance with lower interruption probability under the latency constraint.

Arsenic(As) fate in paddy fields has been one of the most significant current issues due to the strong As accumulation potential of rice plants under fooded conditions. However,no attempt was done to explore As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions. Herein, we investigated the effects of water management on As methylation and volatilization in three arsenic-contaminated soils enhanced by biostimulation with strawderived organic matter and bioaugmentation with genetic engineered Pseudomonas putida KT2440(GE P. putida). Under fooded conditions, the application of biochar(BC), rice straw(RS)and their combination(BC+RS) increased total As in porewater. However, these effects were greatly attenuated under non-fooded conditions. Compared with RS amendment alone, the combination of GE P. putida and RS further promoted the As methylation and volatilization,and the promotion percentage under non-fooded conditions were significantly higher than that under fooded conditions. The combined GE P. putida and RS showed the highest efficiency in As methylation(88 μg/L) and volatilization(415.4 μg/(kg·year)) in the non-fooded soil with moderate As contamination. Finally, stepwise multiple linear regression analysis presented that methylated As, DOC and p H in porewater were the most important factors contributing to As volatilization. Overall, our findings suggest that combination of bioaugmentation with GE P. putida and biostimulation with RS/BC+RS is a potential strategy for bioremediation of arsenic-contaminated soils by enhancing As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions.

Epidemiological Characteristics of Occupational Cancers Reported—China,2006−2020

Introduction:Occupational cancers are a major threat to workers’health in China.The latest version of the Classification and Catalogue of the Occupational Diseases includes 11 occupational cancers.This study analyzed the epidemiological characteristics of occupational cancers in China reported to the National Occupational Disease Reporting System during 2006−2020.Methods:Occupational cancers reported during 2016−2020 were obtained from the National Occupational Disease Reporting System.Epidemiological characteristics were analyzed by year,region,industry,gender,age at diagnosis,and exposure duration to occupational hazards.Results:Overall,a total of 1,116 cases of occupational cancers were reported between 2006 and 2020.The main types reported were leukemia caused by benzene exposure(511,45.79%),lung cancer caused by coke oven exhaust exposure(266,23.84%),and lung cancer and mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure(226,20.25%).There were 6 provincial-level administrative divisions(PLADs)that had reported over 50 new cases in the last 15 years.Most cases(913,81.18%)were distributed in the manufacturing industry.There were 870(77.96%)male cases and 246(22.04%)female cases.The average age at diagnosis of all reported cases was 51.91±15.85 years,and the median exposure duration to occupational hazards was 12(5.29−23.25)years.Conclusions:There is a large discrepancy between the high morbidity of occupational cancers and a low number of cases diagnosed and reported cases.Occupational cancers in China may be underestimated,and comprehensive measures should be taken to improve the diagnosis and reporting of occupational cancers.

The urban transit fare structure and level can largely affect passengers’travel behavior and route choices.The commonly used transit fare policies in the present transit network would lead to the unbalanced transit assignment and improper transit resources distribution.In order to distribute transit passenger flow evenly and efficiently,this paper introduces a new distance-based fare pattern with Euclidean distance.A bi-level programming model is developed for determining the optimal distance-based fare pattern,with the path-based stochastic transit assignment(STA)problem with elastic demand being proposed at the lower level.The upper-level intends to address a principal-agent game between transport authorities and transit enterprises pursing maximization of social welfare and financial interest,respectively.A genetic algorithm(GA)is implemented to solve the bi-level model,which is verified by a numerical example to illustrate that the proposed nonlinear distance-based fare pattern presents a better financial performance and distribution effect than other fare structures.

A multiscale crystal plasticity model accounting for temperature-dependent mechanical behaviors without introducing a larger number of unknown parameters was developed.The model was implemented in elastic-plastic self-consistent(EPSC)and crystal plasticity finite element(CPFE)frameworks for grain-scale simulations.A computationally efficient EPSC model was first employed to estimate the critical resolved shear stress and hardening parameters of the slip and twin systems available in a hexagonal close-packed magnesium alloy,ZEK100.The constitutive parameters were thereafter refined using the CPFE.The crystal plasticity frameworks incorporated with the temperature-dependent constitutive model were used to predict stress–strain curves in macroscale and lattice strains in microscale at different testing temperatures up to 200℃.In particular,the predictions by the crystal plasticity models were compared with the measured lattice strain data at the elevated temperatures by in situ high-energy X-ray diffraction,for the first time.The comparison in the multiscale improved the fidelity of the developed temperature-dependent constitutive model and validated the assumption with regard to the temperature dependency of available slip and twin systems in the magnesium alloy.Finally,this work provides a time-efficient and precise modeling scheme for magnesium alloys at elevated temperatures.
