Sludge reduction with Tubificidae and the impact on the performance of the wastewater treatment process

To reduce excess sludge, a Tubificidae reactor was combined with an integrated oxidation ditch with vertical circle （IODVC）, and a new integrated system was developed for wastewater treatment, A pilot-scale of this integrated system was tested to investigate the sludge reduction with Tubificidae and the impact on effluent quality and sludge production. The dominant worm was Branchnria Sowerbyi in the Tubificidae reactor after inoculation of Branchnria Sowerbyi and limnodrilns sp., and the maximal volume density of wet Tubificidae in vessels of the Tubificidae reactor was 17600 g/m^3. Two operational modes, treating the excess sludge （first mode） and the returned sludge （second mode） of IODVC by the Tubificidae reactor, were used in this experiment. The results showed that the excess sludge reduction rate was 46.4% in the first mode, and the average sludge yield of the integrated system was 6.19× 10^-5 kg SS/kg COD in the second mode. Though the sludge returned to IODVC via the Tubificidae reactor, it had little impact on the effluent quality and the sludge characteristics of the IODVC. No new type of recalcitrant substance in the supernatant was discharged into the environment when the sludge was treated by Tubificidae. The experimental results also indicated that no significant changes occurred on the viscosity, specific resistance, and the floc size distribution of the sludge.

AIM： To investigate the myxoma peritonei （PMP） histological origin of pseudo- n Chinese women. METHODS： The clinical and pathological data were reviewed for 35 women with PMP, and specimens of the peritoneal, appendiceal and ovarian lesions of each patient were examined using the PV-6000 immunohistochemistry method. Antibodies included cytokeratin （CK）7, CK20, mucin （MUC）-1, MUC-2, carbohydrate antigen （CA）-125, estrogen receptor （ER）, and progesterone receptor （PR）. RESULTS： Abundant colloidal mucinous tumors were observed in the peritoneum in all 35 cases. Thirty-one patients had a history of appendectomy, 28 of whom had mucinous lesions. There was one patient with appendicitis, one whose appendix showed no apparent pathological changes, and one with unknown surgical pathology. Ovarian mucinous tumors were found in 24 patients. The tumors were bilateral in 13 patients, on the right-side in nine, and on the left side in two. Twenty patients had combined appendiceal and ovarian lesions; 16 of whom had undergone initial surgery for appendiceal lesions. Four patients had undergone initial surgery for ovarian lesions, and relapse occurred in these patients at 1, 11, 32 and 85 mo after initial surgery. Appendi-ceal mucinous tumors were found in each of these four patients. Thirty-three of the 35 patients showed peritoneal lesions that were positive for CK20 and MUC-2, but negative for CK7, MUC-1, CA125, ER and PR. The expression patterns in the appendix and the ovary were similar to those of the peritoneal lesions. In one of the remaining two cases, CK20, CK7 and MUC-2 were positive, and MUC-1, CA125, ER and PR were negative. The ovaries were not resected. The appendix of one patient was removed at another hospital, and no specimen was evaluated. In the other case, the appendix appeared to be normal during surgery, and was not resected. The effect of strain rate on the fracture behaviour of Cr18Ni11Ti stainless steel at high temperatures was *** steel was subjected to solid solution treatment at 1050°C and ageing at 650°C for 24 *** high-temperature tensile properties of Cr18Ni11Ti stainless steel were subsequently investigated via high-temperature tensile testing at 650°C and different strain rates(1.43×10^(–1),1.43×10^(–2),1.43×10^(–3),1.43×10^(–4),and 1.43×10^(–5) s^(–1)).The microstructure,precipitated phase,tensile fracture surface,and dislocation of the experimental steel were analysed by scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and energy *** results show that Cr18Ni11Ti stainless steel is mainly austenite,with a large number of twin crystals,chromium-rich precipitated phase and composite precipitated phases of TiC and *** decreases in strain rate,the yield strength,ultimate tensile strength,and reduction in area also *** the strain rate is high,obvious necking and ductile fracture occur in the experimental ***,when the strain rate is reduced to 1.43×10^(–5) s^(–1),the necking phenomenon is not obvious and intergranular brittle fracture *** segregation of P and S contents at grain boundaries,or dislocation motion creep and grain-boundary sliding creep,leads to brittle fracture of the steel at lower strain rates of 1.43×10^(–4) to 1.43×10^(–5) s^(–1).

采用扫描电镜、透射电镜、X射线衍射仪和万能拉伸试验机等研究了不同温度回火对55CrVNb弹簧钢组织演变与力学性能影响。结果表明:55CrVNb弹簧钢淬火后的组织主要是板条与针状马氏体;在250~550℃回火50 min时,随着回火温度的升高,马氏体板条模糊并逐渐消失,碳化物沿马氏体边界析出,数量增多尺寸也在增大,位错密度逐渐降低,固溶强化,位错强化、析出强化作用减弱,导致55CrVNb弹簧钢的强度降低,抗拉强度从2119.7 MPa下降至1228.0 MPa,屈服强度从1918.8 MPa下降至1188.9 MPa;随着回火温度升高,55CrVNb弹簧钢的伸长率呈现先升高后降低趋势,断裂类型由脆性断裂向韧性断裂转变;实验钢最佳的热处理工艺参数为:860℃奥氏体化30 min,450℃回火50 min。

This study was carried out to investigate the transfection effect of exogenous gene into plant protoplast cell mediated by polyethylenimine （PEI） nanovector, based on PEI gene delivery system in the field of medical science. PEI/DNA complexes were prepared by using PEI polymer to bind the plant expression plasmid, pCMl205-GFPn. The ability of PEI combining and protecting DNA was investigated by agarose gel electrophoresis retardation assay. The surface characteristics of PEI/DNA complexes were observed with transmission electron microscope. The transfection efficiency of Arabidopsis thaliana protoplasts mediated by PEI/DNA complexes at different N/P ratios was analyzed based on observation of transient expression of green fluorescent protein with confocal laser scanning microscope. PEI could bind and condense DNA, and form stable 100-200 nm PEI/DNA complexes when the proportion of PEl and DNA is in the range of 5：1-1：4. Transfection efficiency of PEI/DNA complexes increased with N/P ratios in range of N/P〈5 and reached the highest at N/P=5, and began to decrease beyond N/P〉5 as higher toxicity to cells. The transfection efficiency of PEI/DNA complexes at N/P=5 was higher than PEG. This study confirmed that PEI nanovector could effectively mediate foreign gene entering into A. thaliana protoplast cell to obtain transient expression, which may be developed as a hopeful and novel transgenic method combined with plant protoplast regeneration.

The precipitation behavior of FeTiP in interstitial free high strength（IFHS）steels has been studied by using a transmission electron microscope（TEM）.The results show that the TiC particles,appearing at earlier stage,are more stable than the FeTiP ones during recrystallization annealing at the two given temperatures（810℃ and 840℃）.Therefore,the FeTiP particles can only be observed in the steels with sufficient amount of *** is a critical forming time for the FeTiP,which is between 90-120 sat 810 ℃ and 60-90 sat 840 ℃.The precipitation of FeTiP involves two steps,*** formation of FeTi precursors and the diffusion of *** former step determines the reliance of Ti content for the precipitation of FeTiP,whereas the latter step leads to the difference in the critical annealing time.

Microtexture Evolution and Grain Boundary Character Distribution of Interstitial-Free Steels With Moderate Levels of Cold Rolling Reductions

High-strength interstitial-free steel sheets have very good deep drawability when processed to have { 111 } recrystallization texture. The microtexture evolution and grain boundary character distribution of interstitial-free steels as a function of moderate levels of cold rolling reductions were investigated by the metallographic microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction technique. The results showed that there was a close relationship between micro- texture and grain boundary character distribution for interstitial-free steel, especially the distribution and features of some specific types of coincident-site lattice boundaries. In addition, a-fiber texture was weakened to vanish while 7- fiber texture strengthened gradually as cold rolling reduction was increased from 20% to 75 % for cold rolled and an- nealed samples. Accordingly, increasing the rolling reduction from 20 % to 750% would lead to a significant increase in the proportion of ∑3 boundaries. Also, it was found that the microtexture of 20% cold rolled sample would induce a high frequency of ∑11 grain boundaries, but the microtexture of 75% cold rolled sample would produce more ∑7 and ∑17 grain boundaries. It was suggested that texture played a significant role in the formation of grain boundary character distribution.

A new selenidoarsenate [Co（en）3]2As2Se5 1 （en = ethylenediamine） was synthesized by a reaction of AsCI3, CoCl2-6H2O and Se in en under mild solvothermal conditions, and the structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Pbca with a = 15.5092（12）, b = 11.5756（9）, c = 17.8138（14） A, V = 3198.1（4） A^3, Mr= 1023.12, Z = 4, D, = 2.125 g/cm^3,μ = 8.807 mm^-1, F（000） = 1976, S = 1.171, the final R = 0.0591 and wR = 0.1067 for 3170 observed reflections with 1 〉 2σ（I）. 1 consists of isolated dimeric [As2Se5]^4- anion constructed by two corner-sharing AsSe3 trigonal pyramids and transition metal [Co（en）3]^2＋ cations. The optical absorption property and thermal stability of 1 are reported.

The {111} fiND plane texture, grain boundary characterization and grain boundary segregation of phos- phorus are investigated for the phosphorus added high strength interstitial free （IF） steel annealed at 810℃ for 60 s to 180 s. The results show that the maximum volume fraction of {111} fiND plane texture is about 85% and the grain boundary Segregation peak of phosphorus is about 14 at. % for the steel annealed at 810℃ for 120 s. The ∑3 and other low-∑CSL （coincident site lattice） boundaries are lowest for the steel annealed for 120 s. Segregation of phosphorus is also found at low angle grain boundaries.
