Dexmedetomidine ameliorates diabetic intestinal injury by promoting the polarization of M2 macrophages through the MMP23B pathway

BACKGROUND Diabetes is often associated with gastrointestinal dysfunctions,which can lead to ***(DEX)is a commonly used sedative in perioperative diabetic patients and may affect gastrointestinal *** To investigate whether sedative doses of DEX alleviate diabetes-caused intestinal *** Sedation/anesthesia scores and vital signs of streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetic mice under DEX sedation were *** mice were divided into saline and DEX *** injecting sedatives intraperitoneally,tight junctions(TJs)and apoptotic levels were evaluated 24 hours later to assess the intestinal barrier *** role of DEX was validated using Villin-MMP23B flox/flox mice with intestinal epithelial *** vitro,high glucose and hyperosmolarity were used to culture Caco-2 monolayer cells with STZ *** techniques were used to monitor the barrier and mitochondrial *** MMP23B protein levels in the intestinal tissue of STZ-induced diabetic mice were significantly higher than those in the intestinal tissue of control mice,with the DEX group displaying decreased MMP23B ***-mediated TJ disruption,increased intestinal mucosal permeability,and systemic inflammation in wild-type mice might be reversed by *** Caco-2 cells,MMP23B was associated with increased reactive oxygen species accumulation,mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization,and TJ *** DEX reduces MMP23B,which may potentially contribute to STZ-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction,affecting TJ modification through mitochondrial dysfunction.

Comparison of His-purkinje bundle pacing and right ventricular inflow tract septal pacing in the elderly

Objective To compare the short-term clinical effect and electrical parameters of His-purkinje bundle pacing(HPBP) and right ventricular inflow tract septal pacing(RVIP) in the elderly. Methods Between April 2017 and September 2019, sixty patients with indications for permanent cardiac pacing and resynchronization therapy in Beijing Anzhen Hospital were divided into the HPBP and RVIP groups, and were analyzed. A ventricular pacing lead was implanted in left ventricular septal sites with left bundle potentials or His potentials in the HPBP group. The lead was placed in right ventricular inflow tract septal sites close to distal His-bundle regions without potentials from the His-purkinje conduction system in the RVIP group. Lead impedance, R wave amplitude, pacing thresholds, QRS duration, left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD), mitral regurgitation area reflux, QTc, T wave directivity, Tp-e and Tp-e/QT ratio were compared between the HPBP and RVIP groups during the procedure and the short-month follow-up. Results No significant differences were found in lead impedance, R wave amplitude, QRS duration, LVEF, LVEDD, mitral regurgitation area reflux, QTc, T wave directivity, Tp-e and Tp-e/QT ratio between the HPBP and RVIP groups. However, the pacing threshold was significantly lower in the HPBP group than in the RVIP group(0.7 ± 0.2 vs. 0.9 ± 0.3 V, P = 0.02). Conclusions The efficacy and electrical parameters of HPBP is comparable with RVIP during the procedure and the short-term follow-up.

ONE-AND TWO-DIMENSIONAL COUPLED HYDRODYNAMICS MODEL FOR DAM BREAK FLOW

1-D and 2-D mathematical models for dam break flow were established and verified with the measured data in laboratory. The 1-D and 2-D models were then coupled, and used to simulate the dam break flow from the reservoir tail to the dam site, the propagation of dam break waves in the downstream channel, and the submergence of dam break flow in the downstream town with the hydrodynamics method. As a numerical example, the presented model was employed to simulate dam break flow of a hydropower station under construction. In simulation, different dam-break durations, upstream flows and water levels in front of dam were considered, and these influencing factors of dam break flow were analyzed, which could be referenced in planning and designing hydropower stations.

Ultra-low Young’s modulus and high super-exchange interactions in monolayer CrN: A promising candidate for flexible spintronic applications

Monolayer CrN has been predicted to be half-metallic ferromagnet with high Curie *** to bulk CrN’s biocompatibility,the monolayer is a promising candidate for bio-related ***,using first-principles calculations based on density functional theory,we find that the formation energy of the bulk CrN stacking from layers with square lattice is only 68 meV/atom above the convex hull,suggesting a great potential to fabricate the monolayer CrN in a square lattice by using molecular beam epitaxy *** monolayer CrN is then proved to be a soft material with an ultra-low Young’s modulus and can sustain very large ***,the analysis of the projected density of states demonstrates that the ferromagnetic half-metallicity originates from the splitting of Cr-d orbitals in the CrN square crystal field,the bonding interaction between Cr-N,and that between Cr-Cr *** is worth noting that the super-exchange interaction is much larger than the direct-exchange interaction and contributes to the ultra-high Curie temperature,which is obtained from Monte Carlo simulations based on Heisenberg *** findings suggest that the monolayer CrN can be an indispensable candidate for nanoscale flexible spintronic applications with good biocompatibility and is considerable appealing to be realized in experiment.

Optical polarization response at gold nanosheet edges probed by scanning near-field optical microscopy

Optical properties of metallic edge-like structures known as knife-edges are a topic of interest and possess potential applications in enhanced Raman scattering, optical trapping, etc. In this work, we investigate the near-field optical polar- ization response at the edge of a triangular gold nanosheet, which is synthesized by a wet chemical method. A homemade scanning near-field optical microscope （SNOM） in collection mode is adopted, which is able to accurately locate its probe at the edge during experiments. An uncoated straight fiber probe is used in the SNOM, because it s611 preserves the prop- erty of light polarization though it has the depolarization to some extent. By comparing near-field intensities at the edge and glass substrate, detected in different polarization directions of incident light, the edge-induced depolarization is found, which is supported by the finite differential time domain （FDTD） simulated results. The depolarized phenomenon in the near-field is similar to that in the far-field.

This paper describes a novel,semiautomated design methodology based on a genetic algorithm(GA)using freeform geometries for microelectromechanical systems(MEMS)*** proposed method can design MEMS devices comprising freeform geometries and optimize such MEMS devices to provide high sensitivity,large bandwidth,and large fabrication *** proposed method does not require much computation time or *** use of freeform geometries allows more degrees of freedom in the design process,improving the diversity and performance of MEMS devices.A MEMS accelerometer comprising a mechanical motion amplifier is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the design *** results show an improvement in the product of sensitivity and bandwidth by 100%and a sensitivity improvement by 141%compared to the case of a device designed with conventional orthogonal ***,excellent immunities to fabrication tolerance and parameter mismatch are achieved.

Combined use of an alkene and a phosphine as a nucleophilic catalyst system for the cyanosilylation of carbonyl compounds

The catalytic potential of carbon nucleophiles has seldom been disclosed due to their reactivity toward carbon electrophiles to form stable carbon-carbon bonds,which are too strong to be cleaved for the expected catalytic cycles. We have developed an efficient catalytic cyanosilylation of carbonyl compounds with an in situ generated alkene/phosphine adduct,which is tuned not to couple with a carbonyl compound or an electron-deficient alkene under the reaction conditions when its nucleophilicity is trans-lated into catalytic activity. In the presence of 3 mol% of methyl acrylate and 3 mol% of triphenylphosphine,a broad range of alkyl,alkenyl,and aryl ketones and aldehydes undergo cyanosilylation reaction with trimethylsilyl cyanide at room temperature to yield structurally diversified cyanohydrin silyl ethers in excellent yields. By using methyl acrylate/triphenylphosphine as a highly effective nucleophilic catalyst system for the cyanosilylation of carbonyl compounds,this study demonstrates a new concept for the development of useful organocatalysis utilizing the nucleophilicity of alkene/phosphine adducts generated in situ.

In the past two decades,research on C_(2)storage in coal seams and simultaneously enhanced coalbed methane recovery(ECBM)has attracted a lot of attention due to its win–win effect between greenhouse gas(C_(2))emission reduction and coalbed methane recovery *** paper presents an overview on the current status of research on C_(2)-ECBM in the past two decades,which involves C_(2)storage capacity evaluations,laboratory investigations,modelings and pilot *** current status shows that we have made great progress in the ECBM technology study,especially in the understanding of the ECBM ***,there still have many technical challenges,such as the definition of unmineable coal seams for C_(2)storage capacity evaluation and storage site characterization,methods for C_(2)injectivity enhancement,*** low injectivity of coal seams and injectivity loss with C_(2)injection are the major technique challenges of *** also search several ways to promote the advancement of ECBM technology in the present stage,such as integrating ECBM with hydraulic fracturing,using a gas mixture instead of pure C_(2)for injection into coal seams and the application of ECBM to underground coal mines.

Influence of the Size Distribution of Particles on the Viscous Property of an Electrorheological Fluid

The influence of the size distribution of particles on the viscous property of an electrorheological fluid has been investigated by the molecular dynamic simulation *** shear stress of the fluid is found to decrease with the increase of the variance σ^(2) of the Gaussian distribution of the particle size,and then reach a steady value whenσis larger than *** phenomenon is attributed to the influence of the particle size distribution on the dynamic structural evolution in the fluid as well as the strength of the different chain-like structures formed by the particles.
