Quantifying spatial distribution of interrill and rill erosion in a loess at different slopes using structure from motion(SfM)photogrammetry

The spatial distribution of interrill and rill erosion is essential for unravelling soil erosion principles and the application of soil and water conservation practices.To quantify interrill and rill erosion and their spatial development,four 30-min rainfalls at 90 mm h^(-1)intensity were consecutively simulated on runoff plots packed with a loess at six slopes of 10°,15°,20°,25°,30°and 35°.The soil surface was measured using the structure from motion(SfM)photogrammetry upon each simulation run,and the runoff and sediment samples were collected and measured at every 10 min.Rills did not develop until the third simulation run.During the initial two runs,the lower third section was more severely eroded than the upper and middle thirds along the slope direction,yet the interrill erosion was statistically uniform from left to right.Rills tended to emerge by both sidewalls and in the lower portion in the third run.The corresponding rill erosion increased with slope from 10°to 20°and then decreased for the slopes steeper,which was consistent with the slope trend of the sediment yield directly measured.The rills expanded substantially primarily via head retreat and to a lesser extent via sideward erosion after receiving another 30-min rainfall.Rill erosion contributed 69.3%of the total erosion loss,and shifted the critical slope corresponding to the maximum loss from 20°to 25°.These findings demonstrate the significance of rill erosion not only in total soil loss but also in its relation to slope,as well as the effectiveness of SfM photogrammetry in quantifying interrill and rill erosion.

Inhibition of Herpes Simplex Virus-1 Replication by Natural Compound Honokiol

Honokiol is a pleiotropic natural compound isolated from Magnolia and has multiple biological and clinically relevant effects,including anticancer and antimicrobial function.However,the antiviral activity of honokiol has not yet been well studied.Here we showed that honokiol had no effect on herpes simplex virus-1(HSV-1)entry,but inhibited HSV-1 viral DNA replication,gene expression and the production of new progeny viruses.The combination of honokiol and clinical drug acyclovir augmented inhibition of HSV-1 infection.Our results illustrate that honokiol could be a potential new candidate for clinical consideration in the treatment of HSV-1 infection alone or combination with other therapeutics.

Monkeypox was declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organization,and as of March 2023,86,000 confirmed cases and 111 deaths across 110 countries have been reported.Its causal agent,monkeypox virus(MPV)belongs to a large family of double-stranded DNA viruses,Orthopoxviridae,that also includes vaccinia virus(VACV)and others.MPV produces two distinct forms of viral particles during its replication cycles:the enveloped viron(EV)that is released via exocytosis,and the mature viron(MV)that is discharged through lysis of host cells.This study was designed to develop multi-valent m RNA vaccines against monkeypox EV and MV surface proteins,and examine their efficacy and mechanism of action.Four m RNA vaccines were produced with different combinations of surface proteins from EV(A35R and B6R),MV(A29L,E8L,H3L and M1R),or EV and MV,and were administered in Balb/c mice to assess their immunogenicity potentials.A dynamic immune response was observed as soon as seven days after initial immunization,while a strong Ig G response to all immunogens was detected with ELISA after two vaccinations.The higher number of immunogens contributed to a more robust total Ig G response and correlating neutralizing activity against VACV,indicating the additive potential of each immunogen in generating immune response and nullifying VACV infection.Further,the m RNA vaccines elicited an antigen-specific CD4^(+)T cell response that is biased towards Th1.The m RNA vaccines with different combinations of EVand MV surface antigens protected a mouse model from a lethal dose VACV challenge,with the EV and MV antigens-combined vaccine offering the strongest protection.These findings provide insight into the protective mechanism of multi-valent m RNAvaccines against MPV,and also the foundation for further development of effective and safe m RNA vaccines for enhanced protection against monkeypox virus outbreak.

Mild Cytokine Elevation, Moderate CD4^+ T Cell Response and Abundant Antibody Production in Children with COVID-19

Children with Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19) were reported to show milder symptoms and better prognosis than their adult counterparts, but the difference of immune response against SARS-CoV-2 between children and adults hasn’t been reported. Therefore we initiated this study to figure out the features of immune response in children with COVID-19.Sera and whole blood cells from 19 children with COVID-19 during different phases after disease onset were collected.The cytokine concentrations, SARS-CoV-2 S-RBD or N-specific antibodies and T cell immune responses were detected respectively. In children with COVID-19, only 3 of 12 cytokines were increased in acute sera, including interferon(IFN)-cinduced protein 10(IP10), interleukin(IL)-10 and IL-16. We observed an increase in T helper(Th)-2 cells and a suppression in regulatory T cells(Treg) in patients during acute phase, but no significant response was found in the IFN-cproducing or tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-a-producing CD8?T cells in patients. S-RBD and N IgM showed an early induction, while S-RBD and N IgG were prominently induced later in convalescent phase. Potent S-RBD IgA response was observed but N IgA seemed to be inconspicuous. Children with COVID-19 displayed an immunophenotype that is less inflammatory than adults, including unremarkable cytokine elevation, moderate CD4?T cell response and inactive CD8?T cell response, but their humoral immunity against SARS-CoV-2 were as strong as adults. Our finding presented immunological characteristics of children with COVID-19 and might give some clues as to why children develop less severe disease than adults.

Reinforcement learning based energy efficient robot relay for unmanned aerial vehicles against smart jamming

Unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) with limited energy resources, severe path loss, and shadowing to the ground base stations are vulnerable to smart jammers that aim to degrade the UAV communication performance and exhaust the UAV energy. The UAV anti-jamming communication performance, such as the outage probability, degrades if the robot relay is not aware of the jamming policies and the UAV network topology. In this paper, we propose a robot relay scheme for UAVs against smart jamming, which combines reinforcement learning with a function approximation approach named tile coding, to jointly optimize the robot moving distance and relay power with the unknown jamming channel states and locations. The robot mobility and relay policy are chosen based on the received jamming power, the robot received signal quality,location and energy consumption, and the bit error rate of the UAV messages. We also present a deep reinforcement learning version for the robot with sufficient computing resources. It uses three deep neural networks to choose the robot mobility and relay policy with reduced sample complexity, so as to avoid exploring dangerous policies that lead to the high outage probability of the UAV messages. The network architecture of the three networks is designed with fully connected layers instead of convolutional layers to reduce the computational complexity, which is analyzed by theoretical analyses. We provide the performance bound of the proposed schemes in terms of the bit error rate, robot energy consumption and utility based on a game-theoretic study. Simulation results show that the performance of our proposed relay schemes,including the bit error rate, the outage probability, and the robot energy consumption outperforms the existing schemes.

11例SMARCA4(BRG1)缺失性癌的临床病理分析

目的探讨SMARCA4(BRG1)缺失性癌患者的临床病理特征、免疫表型及诊治要点。方法回顾性分析11例SMARCA4(BRG1)缺失性癌患者的临床资料,总结其HE染色后的形态及免疫组织化学特征,并结合文献进行分析。结果11例患者中男性8例,女性3例;中位年龄60岁。8例行根治性手术切除,3例行传统化疗联合靶向及免疫治疗。镜下肿瘤细胞胞质丰富、红染,呈上皮样、横纹肌样或梭形,具明显的嗜酸性核仁,核分裂象易见(>5/10 HPF),肿瘤组织内见多灶状坏死,脉管内见大量癌栓,可伴间质黏液样变性。11例肿瘤细胞SMARCA4(BRG1)表达缺失,同时表达上皮源性CK和间叶源性Vim标记,SMARCB1(INI1)表达保留,p53突变型,肿瘤细胞呈高增殖活性(Ki-67>60%),突触素Syn呈中等强度阳性。3例为错配修复蛋白缺陷,分别表现为MLH1/PMS2、PMS2、MSH6表达缺失,其中1例经Sanger测序法检测证实为高度微卫星不稳定型。结论SMARCA4(BRG1)缺失性癌发病率低,易与其他肿瘤混淆,术前诊断困难,需依靠免疫组织化学明确诊断。

列车经过钢箱梁桥时引起噪声辐射问题相比混凝土桥更为突出,对沿线居民造成的影响更大,严重影响沿线居民的日常生活。基于车辆-轨道-桥梁耦合振动理论,并结合统计能量法(SEA)建立钢箱梁结构噪声与轮轨噪声预测模型,分析钢箱梁桥的结构噪声与轮轨噪声衰减规律,明确典型及敏感场点处的噪声分布情况;定量预测分析不同轨道减振措施对钢箱梁桥周边敏感场点的噪声辐射大小。分析结果表明:钢箱梁轮轨噪声与结构噪声随水平距离的衰减规律基本一致,衰减率均为随着距离变远而变小,150 m内总衰减率轮轨噪声大于结构噪声;普通轨道结构及普通轨道结构+全封闭声屏障工况下,敏感位置处综合噪声不满足噪声增量在1 dB(A)以内的环评要求,减振垫浮置板与全封闭声屏障组合及钢弹簧浮置板与全封闭声屏障组合工况下,敏感位置综合噪声均能满足噪声增量在1 dB(A)以内的环评要求。

目的研究健康促进模式结合预见性护理干预在肾结石患者围手术期中的应用效果,以期为制定肾结石患者围手术期的有效护理干预方案提供参考。方法选取2019年5月—2023年3月在芜湖市第五人民医院行输尿管软镜钬激光碎石术的102例肾结石患者,根据护理干预方式不同分为对照组(50例)和观察组(52例)。对照组患者围手术期采用常规护理干预,观察组患者围手术期采用健康促进模式结合预见性护理干预。比较2组患者术后恢复情况,干预前后的疼痛程度、心理状态、生活质量及并发症发生情况。结果观察组患者术后下床活动时间、体温恢复正常时间、住院时间、首次自行排尿时间均短于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(P0.05);2组患者干预后VAS及SAS评分均低于干预前,且观察组患者均低于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(P0.05);2组患者干预后WHOQOL-BREF量表躯体健康、生理功能、心理状态、社会功能4个维度评分均高于干预前,且观察组患者均高于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05)。观察组患者并发症发生率为5.76%(3/52),低于对照组的20.00%(10/50),差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=4.642,P=0.031)。结论肾结石患者在围手术期应用健康促进模式结合预见性护理干预,有助于促进患者术后恢复,减轻患者术后疼痛程度,提高患者生活质量,降低并发症的发生风险。
