Exfoliation of bulk 2H-MoS_(2)into bilayer 1T-phase nanosheets via ether-induced superlattices

The exfoliation of bulk 2H-molybdenum disulfide(2H-MoS_(2))into few-layer nanosheets with 1T-phase and controlled layers represents a daunting challenge towards the device applications of MoS_(2).Conventional ion intercalation assisted exfoliation needs the use of hazardous n-butyllithium and/or elaborate control of the intercalation potential to avoid the decomposition of the MoS_(2).This work reports a facile strategy by intercalating Li ions electrochemically with ether-based electrolyte into the van der Waals(vdW)channels of MoS_(2),which successfully avoids the decomposition of MoS_(2)at low potentials.The co-intercalation of Li+and the ether solvent into MoS_(2)makes a first-order phase transformation,forming a superlattice phase,which preserves the layered structure and hence enables the exfoliation of bulk 2H-MoS_(2)into bilayer nanosheets with 1T-phase.Compared with the pristine 2H-MoS_(2),the bilayer 1T-MoS_(2)nanosheets exhibit better electrocatalytic performance for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).This facile method should be easily extended to the exfoliation of various transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs).

Global,regional and national burdens of bipolar disorders in adolescents and young adults:a trend analysis from 1990 to 2019

Background Bipolar disorder is identified as a cause of severe damage to the physical,psychological and social functioning of adolescents and young adults.Aims The aim of this study is to ascertain the trends in the burden of bipolar disorder among individuals aged 10-24 years at global,regional and national levels from 1990 to 2019.Methods The data analysed in this study were from the Global Burden of Diseases 2019.The numbers,rates per 100000 population,average annual percentage changes(AAPCs)of incidence,prevalence and years lived with disability(YLDs)of bipolar disorder are reported at the global,regional and national levels among individuals aged 10-24 years.Global trends by age,sex and Social Development Index(SDI)were further analysed.Results Globally,the incidence of bipolar disorder among adolescents and young adults increased from 79.21 per 100000 population(95%uncertainty interval(Ul):58.13 to 105.15)in 1990 to 84.97 per 100000 population(95%Ul:61.73 to 113.46)in 2019,AAPC 0.24(95%confidence interval(Cl):0.22 to 0.26).In the past three decades,there has been an increase in incidence,prevalence and YLDs in both males and females.The largest increase in incidence between 1990 and 2019 was observed in those aged 20-24 years old from 51.76 per 100000 population(95%Ul:26.81 to 87.20)in 1990 to 58.37 per 100000 population(95%UI:30.39 to 98.55)in 2019;AAPC 0.42(95%Cl:0.38 to 0.47).By the SDI quintile,the largest increase in incidence was observed in the middle SDl;however,the high SDI countries had the highest incidence.Regionally,the largest increase in incidence was observed in southern Latin America.At the national level,the most pronounced increase in the incidence was in Greenland.Conclusions The global increase in incidence among adolescents and young adults between 1990 and 2019 indicates that strategies to improve their mental health still need to be emphasised.

Boosting sodium-storage properties of hierarchical Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)@C micro-flower cathodes by tiny Cr doping:The effect of“four ounces moving a thousand pounds”

Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)(NVP),as a great potential cathode candidate for Na-ion batteries(NIBs),has attracted enormous interest due to its three-dimensional(3D)large open framework for convenient Na+transport,yet its practical application is still limited by its inferior electron conductivity and sluggish Na+diffusion kinetics.Herein,the tiny Cr doped hierarchical NVP micro-flower cathodes(i.e.,Na_(3)V_(2-x)Crx(PO_(4))_(3)@C,x≤0.1),which are self-assembled with single-crystal nanoflake subunits in-situ coated with carbon nano-shell,are designed and fabricated via a scalable avenue.The optimized cathode,i.e.,Na_(3)V_(1.94)Cr_(0.06)(PO_(4))_(3)@C(NVCP-6),was endowed with more electro-active Na(2)sites and higher electronic/ionic conductivity for efficient sodium storage.Benefiting from these competitive merits,the NVCP-6,when evaluated as a cathode towards NIBs,exhibits an ultrahigh-rate capability of 99.8 mAh·g^(-1)at 200 C and superior stability of 82.2%over 7300 cycles at 50 C.Furthermore,the NVCP-6 based full NIBs display remarkable electrochemical properties in terms of both high-rate capacities and long-duration cycling properties at different temperatures(-20–50°C).The contribution,i.e.,the design of“four ounces can move a thousand pounds”,here will promote the practical industrial application of NVP towards advanced NIBs.

Ethanol changes Nestin-promoter induced neural stem cells to disturb newborn dendritic spine remodeling in the hippocampus of mice

Adolescent binge drinking leads to long-lasting disorders of the adult central nervous system,particularly aberrant hippocampal neurogenesis.In this study,we applied in vivo fluorescent tracing using NestinCreERT2::Rosa26-tdTomato mice and analyzed the endogenous neurogenesis lineage progression of neural stem cells(NSCs)and dendritic spine formation of newborn neurons in the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus.We found abnormal orientation of tamoxifen-induced tdTomato+(tdTom^(+))NSCs in adult mice 2 months after treatment with EtOH(5.0 g/kg,i.p.)for 7 consecutive days.EtOH markedly inhibited tdTom^(+)NSCs activation and hippocampal neurogenesis in mouse dentate gyrus from adolescence to adulthood.EtOH(100 mM)also significantly inhibited the proliferation to 39.2%and differentiation of primary NSCs in vitro.Adult mice exposed to EtOH also exhibited marked inhibitions in dendritic spine growth and newborn neuron maturation in the dentate gyrus,which was partially reversed by voluntary running or inhibition of the mammalian target of rapamycinenhancer of zeste homolog 2 pathway.In vivo tracing revealed that EtOH induced abnormal orientation of tdTom+NSCs and spatial misposition defects of newborn neurons,thus causing the disturbance of hippocampal neurogenesis and dendritic spine remodeling in mice.

Enhancing capacitive deionization performance and cyclic stability of nitrogen-doped activated carbon by the electro-oxidation of anode materials

Electrode materials with high desalination capacity and long-term cyclic stability are the focus of capacitive deionization(CDI) community. Understanding the causes of performance decay in traditional carbons is crucial to design a high-performance material. Based on this, here, nitrogen-doped activated carbon(NAC) was prepared by pyrolyzing the blend of activated carbon powder(ACP) and melamine for the positive electrode of asymmetric CDI. By comparing the indicators changes such as conductivity, salt adsorption capacity, pH, and charge efficiency of the symmetrical ACP-ACP device to the asymmetric ACP-NAC device under different CDI cycles, as well as the changes of the electrochemical properties of anode and cathode materials after long-term operation, the reasons for the decline of the stability of the CDI performance were revealed. It was found that the carboxyl functional groups generated by the electro-oxidation of anode carbon materials make the anode zero-charge potential(E_(pzc)) shift positively,which results in the uneven distribution of potential windows of CDI units and affects the adsorption capacity. Furthermore, by understanding the electron density on C atoms surrounding the N atoms, we attribute the increased cyclic stability to the enhanced negativity of the charge of carbon atoms adjacent to quaternary-N and pyridinic-oxide-N.

Carbon enhanced nucleophilicity of Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3):A general approach for dendrite-free zinc metal anodes

Zincophilic property and high electrical conductivity are both very important parameters to design novel Zn anode for aqueous Zn-ion batteries(AZIBs).However,single material is difficult to exhibit zincophilic property and high electrical conductivity at the same time.Herein,originating from theoretical calculation,a zincophilic particle regulation strategy is proposed to address these limitations and carbon coated Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)is taken as an example to be a protective layer on zinc metal(NVPC@Zn).Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)(NVP)is a common cathode material for Zn-ion batteries,which is zincophilic.Carbon materials not only offer an electron pathway to help Zn deposition onto NVPC surface,but also enhance the zinc nucleophilicity of Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3).Hence,this hybrid coating layer can tune zinc deposition and resist side reactions such as hydrogen generation and Zn metal corrosion.Experimentally,a symmetrical battery with NVPC@Zn electrode displays highly reversible plating/stripping behavior with a long cycle lifespan over 1800 h at2 mA cm^(-2),much better than carbon and Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)solely modified Zn electrodes.When the Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)is replaced with zincophobic Al2O3or zincophilic V2O3,the stability of the modified zinc anodes is also prolonged.This strategy expands the option of zincophilic materials and provides a general and effective way to stabilize the Zn electrode.

Ni-Fe-based catalysts are considered to be among the most active catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)under alkaline conditions,with Fe playing a crucial role.However,Fe leaching occurs during the reaction due to thermodynamic instability,which has resulted in conflicting reports within the literature regarding its role.To clarify this point,we propose a strategy consisting of modulating the electronic orbital occupancy to suppress the extensive loss of Fe atoms during the OER process.Theoretical calculations,in-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,molecular dynamics simulations,and a series of characterization showed that the stable presence of Fe not only accelerates the electron transfer process but also optimizes the reaction barriers of the oxygen evolution intermediates,promoting the phase transition of Fe_(5)Ni_(4)S_(8)to highly active catalytic species.The modulated Fe_(5)Ni_(4)S_(8)-based pre-catalysts exhibit improved OER activity and long-term durability.This study provides a novel perspective for understanding the role of Fe in the OER process.

Combined use of phospholipid complexes and self-emulsifying microemulsions for improving the oral absorption of a BCS class IV compound, baicalin

The aim of this study was to develop a formulation to improve the oral absorption of baicalin(BA)by combining a phospholipid complex(PC)and self-emulsifying microemulsion drug delivery system(SMEDDS),termed BA–PC–SMEDDS.BA–PC was prepared by a solvent evaporation method and evaluated by complexation percentage(CP).The physicochemical properties of BA–PC were determined.The synergistic effect of PC and SMEDDS on permeation of BA was studied in vitro with Caco-2 cells and in situ with a single pass intestinal perfusion model.The improved bioavailability of BA in BA–PC–SMEDDS was confirmed in an in vivo rat model.The CP of BA–PC reached 100%when the molar ratio of drug to phospholipid(PP)was Z1:1.The solubility of BA–PC increased in both water and octanol,and the log P o/w of BA–PC was increased significantly.BA–PC–SMEDDS could be dispersed more evenly in water,compared to BA and BA–PC.Both the Caco-2 cell uptake and single-pass intestinal perfusion models illustrated that transport of BA in BA–PC was lower than that of free BA,while improved significantly in BA–PC–SMEDDS.The relative bioavailability of BA–PC(1:2)–SMEDDS was 220.37%.The combination system of PC and SMEDDS had a synergistic effect on improving the oral absorption of BA.

20世纪初,随着美国经济实力的增强以及与中国关系的拉近,美国学界对中国问题产生了浓厚兴趣。1913—1914年,华尔纳受收藏家弗利尔的派遣,代表史密森研究院等机构,前往中国调查考古发掘的前景与建立考古学校的可能性。专攻日本艺术史的华尔纳非常倚重欧洲汉学与日本学界,长时间逗留于欧洲及中国周边区域,在中国内地调查的时间反而极短。考古学校终未建立,乃美国汉学尝试进一步发展时遭遇的一次挫折。
