Printing perovskite and graphene parallel structure-based optical-mechanical sensors for human-machine interaction

Surgical robots are designed to provide enhanced precision and dexterity compared to manual surgical procedures,which mainly rely on multimodal sensing technologies for the surgeon to seamlessly operate the robotic arms and *** with single-mode sensors, optical and mechanical bi-modal sensors provide improved precision, enhanced safety,and robustness of human-machine interaction systems. Here, the template-guided and pneumatic printing technologies are combined to construct perovskite and graphene parallel structures with both optical and mechanical sensing capabilities. The printed uniformly crystallized perovskite microstructure exhibits fast and sensitive photoelectric response characteristics,enabling shadow recognition functionality. The combination of graphene and elastic rubber endows the great printability to prepare parallel structures near the perovskite arrays for force sensing capabilities. Thus, the printed perovskite and graphene structures possess non-contact optical sensing capabilities to detect hand position by recognizing shadows between the hand and the sensor, as well as contact mechanical sensing capabilities to detect touch force applied by the hand. It provides a synergistic platform for real-time and multidimensional feedback to improve human-machine interaction.

Dual Attention Based Feature Pyramid Network

Object detection could be recognized as an essential part of the research to scenarios such as automatic driving and pedestrian detection, etc. Among multiple types of target objects, the identification of small-scale objects faces significant challenges. We would introduce a new feature pyramid framework called Dual Attention based Feature Pyramid Network(DAFPN), which is designed to avoid predicament about multi-scale object recognition. In DAFPN, the attention mechanism is introduced by calculating the topdown pathway and lateral pathway, where the spatial attention, as well as channel attention, would participate, respectively, such that the pyramidal feature maps can be generated with enhanced spatial and channel interdependencies, which bring more semantical information for the feature pyramid. Using the COCO data set, which consists of a considerable quantity of small-scale objects, the experiments are implemented. The analysis results verify the optimized performance of DAFPN compared with the original Feature Pyramid Network(FPN) specifically for the identification on a small scale. The proposed DAFPN is promising for object detection in an era full of intelligent machines that need to detect multi-scale objects.

Robust trajectory planning for UAV communication systems in the presence of jammers

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)has emerged as a promising novel application for the Sixth-Generation(6G)wireless communication by leveraging more favorable Line-of-Sight(Lo S)***,the jamming resistance by exploiting UAV’s mobility is a new challenge in the UAV-ground *** paper investigates the trajectory planning problem in an UAV communication system,where the UAV is operated by a Ground Control Unit(GCU)to perform certain tasks in the presence of multiple jammers with imperfect power and location *** ensure the reliability of the GCU-to-UAV link,we formulate the problem as a non-convex semi-infinite optimization,aiming to maximize the average worst-case Signal-toInterference-plus-Noise Ratio(SINR)over a given flight duration by designing the robust trajectory of the UAV under stringent energy availability *** handle this problem efficiently,we develop an iterative algorithm for the solution with the aid of S-procedure and Successive Convex Approximation(SCA)*** results demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed algorithm and offer some useful design insights to practical system.

Antibacterial Ti-5Cu alloy is a promising substitute material for Ti-made cardiovascular implants,so its surface engineering is crucial to expediting clinical *** the antibacterial and cardiovas-cular biological benefits of Cu^(2+)and titanium-nitride-oxide(TiN x O y)coatings,a Cu_(2)O/CuO-TiN x O y coating with upregulated Cu^(2+)release was successfully deposited on Ti-5Cu alloy for the first time using oxygen and nitrogen plasma-based surface *** superhydrophilic and nanostructured Cu_(2)O/CuO-TiN x O y coating had a dense structure and was well bonded to the substrate,resulting in enhanced cor-rosion resistance,while CuO/Cu_(2)O in the coating released Cu^(2+)faster than Ti_(2)Cu phase in the *** gratifying,the coating demonstrated perfect antibacterial properties(R>99.9%against ***),owing primarily to direct contact sterilization of Cu_(2)O/*** most encouraging phenomenon was that the coating dramatically accelerated HUVEC adhesion(1.4 times),proliferation(RGR:106%-116%),and particularly migration(RMR:158%-247%)compared with the control *** coating extract also signifi-cantly stimulated in vitro angiogenesis *** rapid endothelialization for Cu_(2)O/CuO-TiN x O y coating was attributed to the surface nanostructure and Cu^(2+)/NO_(2)−release,which upregulated the angiogenesis-related gene expression of HIF-1α,VEGF,and eNOS to increase VEGF secretion and NO *** of the findings indicated that the Cu_(2)O/CuO-TiN x O y coating could enhance the corrosion resistance,an-tibacterial properties,and endothelialization potential of Ti-Cu alloy,displaying great clinical potential in cardiovascular applications.

A novel biomedical titanium alloy with high antibacterial property and low elastic modulus

β-type titanium alloys have attracted much attention as implant materials because of their low elastic modulus and high strength,which is closer to human bones and can avoid the problem of stress fielding and extend the lifetime of ***,other issues,such as the infection or inflammation postimplantation,still trouble the titanium alloy's clinical *** this paper,we developed a novel nearβ-titanium alloy(Ti-13Nb-13Zr-13Ag,TNZA)with low elastic modulus and strong antibacterial ability by the addition of Ag element followed by proper microstructure controlling,which could reduce the stress shielding and bacterial infections *** microstructure,mechanical properties,corrosion resistance,antibacterial properties and cell toxicity were studied using SEM,electrochemical testing,mechanical test and cell *** results have demonstrated that TNZA alloy exhibited an elastic modulus of 75-87 GPa and a strong antibacterial ability(up to 98%reduction)and good ***,it was also shown that this alloy's corrosion resistance was better than that of *** the results suggested that Ti-13Nb-13Zr-13Ag might be a competitive biomedical titanium alloy.

Solution-processed top-contact electrodes strategy for organic crystalline field-effect transistor arrays

Organic crystals,especially ultra-thin two-dimensional(2D)ones such as monolayer molecular crystals,are fragile and vulnerable to traditional vacuum *** to now,most of the methods reported for fabricating organic field-effect transistors(OFETs)with top-electrodes on the 2D molecular crystals are based on mechanical-transfer *** method for large scale in-situ electrode deposition is *** this work,the silver mirror reaction(SMR)is introduced to construct top-contact electrodes on 2D organic crystalline thin *** based on bilayer crystalline films with solution-processed silver electrodes show comparable performance to devices with transferred gold *** addition to that,OFETs with SMR fabricated silver electrodes show lower contact resistance than the ones with evaporated silver ***,the temperature under which SMR electrodes annealed is relatively low(60℃),making this approach applicable to varies of organic semiconductors,such as spin-coated polymer films,vacuum evaporated films,2D and even monolayer crystalline ***,OFETs with sub-micrometer channel width and 25μm channel length are realized which might find practical application in the ultra-small pixel mini/micro-LEDs.

Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide. Adjuvant tamoxifen therapy significantly slows down estrogen receptor （ER）-positive breast cancer progression, prolongs diseasefree survival, and contributes to the decrease in breast cancer mortality （Musgrove and Sutherland, 2009）. However, majority of the death from breast cancer is due to metastasis that is resistant to therapy （Musgrove and Sutherland, 2009）.

BLM helicase inhibition synergizes with PARP inhibition to improve the radiosensitivity of olaparib resistant non-small cell lung cancer cells by inhibiting homologous recombination repair

Objective:We aimed to investigate the radiosensitizing efficacy of the poly-ADP-ribose polymerase(PARP)inhibitor,olaparib,and the Bloom syndrome protein(BLM)helicase inhibitor,ML216,in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)***:Radiosensitization of NSCLC cells was assessed by colony formation and tumor growth ***,the effects of ML216,olaparib,and radiation on cell and tumor proliferation,DNA damage,cell cycle,apoptosis,homologous recombination(HR)repair,and non-homologous end joining(NHEJ)repair activity were ***:Both olaparib and ML216 enhanced the radiosensitivities of olaparib-sensitive H460 and H1299 cells,which was seen as decreased surviving fractions and Rad51 foci,increased total DNA damage,andγH2AX and 53BP1 foci(P<0.05).The expressions of HR repair proteins were remarkably decreased in olaparib-treated H460 and H1299 cells after irradiation(P<0.05),while olaparib combined with ML216 exerted a synergistic radiosensitization effect on olaparib-resistant A549 *** addition to increases of double strand break(DSB)damage and decreases of Rad51 foci,olaparib combined with ML216 also increased pDNA-PKcs(S2056)foci,abrogated G2 cell cycle arrest,and induced apoptosis in A549 lung cancer after irradiation in vitro and in vivo(P<0.05).Moreover,Western blot showed that olaparib combined with ML216 and irradiation inhibited HR repair,promoted NHEJ repair,and inactivated cell cycle checkpoint signals both in vitro and in vivo(P<0.05).Conclusions:Taken together,these results showed the efficacy of PARP and BLM helicase inhibitors for radiosensitizing NSCLC cells,and supported the model that BLM inhibition sensitizes cells to PARP inhibitor-mediated radiosensitization,as well as providing the basis for the potential clinical development of this combination for tumors intrinsically resistant to PARP inhibitors and radiotherapy.

Many practical problems involve joint detection and estimation, where performance of estimation and detection largely affects each other. This paper considers the hypothesis testing problem with unknown parameters in a jointly optimal way, whose goal is to choose the true hypothesis and to estimate the unknown parameters simultaneously. By minimizing the maximum Bayesian estimation cost function subject to the constraints on Bayesian or Non-Bayesian detection performance, we obtain the corresponding joint optimal detectors and estimators. Under the proposed framework, it yields a lower estimation cost compared with the method that deals with the detection and estimation problem separately, and also provides tradeoff between detection and estimation performance. Finally, numerical examples about spectrum sensing in cognitive radio systems show the flexibility and the superiority of the proposed approach compared with the classical Neyman-Pearson test and the generalized likelihood ratio test.
