Analyzing the Combination Effects of Repetitive Transcranial magnetic Stimulation and Motor Control Training on Balance Function and Gait in Patients with Stroke-Induced Hemiplegia

Objective:To analyze the effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with motor control training on the treatment of stroke-induced hemiplegia,specifically focusing on the impact on patients’balance function and gait.Methods:Fifty-two cases of hemiplegic stroke patients were randomly divided into two groups,26 in the control group and 26 in the observation group,using computer-generated random grouping.All participants underwent conventional treatment and rehabilitation training.In addition to these,the control group received repetitive transcranial magnetic pseudo-stimulation therapy+motor control training,while the observation group received repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy+motor control training.The balance function and gait parameters of both groups were compared before and after the interventions and assessed the satisfaction of the interventions in both groups.Results:Before the invention,there were no significant differences in balance function scores and each gait parameter between the two groups(P>0.05).However,after the intervention,the observation group showed higher balance function scores compared to the control group(Pmagnetic stimulation and motor control training in the treatment of stroke-induced hemiplegia has demonstrated positive effects.It not only improves the patient’s balance function and gait but also contributes to overall physical rehabilitation.

Objective:To study the effect of repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation(rPMS)combined with conventional rehabilitation measures on shoulder dysfunction in early stroke.Methods:60 patients with shoulder dysfunction in early stroke were selected,and all of them were admitted to our hospital from August 2021 to August 2023.The patients were randomly grouped into a control group(conventional rehabilitation measures intervention,30 cases)and an intervention group(rPMS and conventional rehabilitation measures intervention,30 cases)according to the lottery method.The pain scores,shoulder mobility,and motor function scores of the two groups were compared.Results:The pain score was lower in the intervention group,and the shoulder mobility and motor function scores were higher in the intervention group(Pmarkable and should be popularized.

A dual-beam piezo-magneto-elastic wake-induced vibration energy harvesting system for high-performance wind energy harvesting

Wind-induced vibration energy harvesting has a great potential for utilizing wind energy to supply power for low-powered devices.To improve the working performance of energy harvesters effectively,a suitable structural design is crucial.This paper proposes a dual-beam piezo-magneto-elastic wake-induced vibration energy harvesting system to enhance the functional performance of aeroelastic energy harvesters in environments with variable wind speeds.The system contains two piezoelectric beams coupled by magnets(forming upstream and downstream energy harvesters),and each beam is attached with a foam cylinder.A corresponding dynamic model is provided,and output characteristics are obtained at different wind speeds.Results and experimental verification indicate that both upstream and downstream energy harvesters can realize efficient energy harvesting.When the wind speed exceeds a certain critical value,the amplitudes of the system’s displacement and voltage are high.The wind speed threshold value is approximately 1.25 m/s.When the wind speed and magnet spacing are 10.2 m/s and 20 mm,respectively,the output power of the system reaches 4.9×10^(−4)W.Moreover,the wind speed threshold value of the proposed system can be adjusted by an equivalent nonlinear restoring force.

Study on the atmospheric heat engine efficiency and heat source characteristics of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in summer

There are many types of atmospheric heat engines in land-air systems.The accurate definition,calculation and interpretation of the efficiency of atmospheric heat engines are key to understanding energy transfer and transformation of landair systems.The atmosphere over the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)in summer can be regarded as a positive heat engine.The study of the heat engine efficiency is helpful to better understand land-air interaction and thermal-dynamic processes on the QTP.It also provides a new perspective to explain the impact of the QTP on the climate of China,East Asia and even the world.In this paper,we used MOD08 and ERA5 reanalysis data to calculate the atmospheric heat engine efficiency,surface heat source and atmospheric heat source on the QTP in summer(may to September)from 2000 to 2020.The average atmospheric heat engine efficiency on the QTP in summer from 2000 to 2020 varies between 1.2%and 1.5%,which is less than 1.6%;the heat engine efficiency in summer is higher than that in June,July and August;the Qaidam Basin is the region with the highest atmospheric heat engine efficiency,followed by the western QTP.The mean surface heat source on the QTP in summer from 2000 to 2020 is 96.0 W m^(−2),the atmospheric heat source is 90.7 W m^(−2),and the release of precipitation condensation latent heat is the most important component of the atmospheric heat source on the QTP in summer.There is a strong and significant positive correlation between the atmospheric heat engine efficiency and the surface heat source on the QTP in summer.The precipitation condensation latent heat is the most important component of the atmospheric heat source in summer and can reflect the precipitation process.There is a strong and significant negative correlation between the atmospheric heat engine efficiency and the atmospheric heat source on the QTP in summer.

Role of ACLY in the development of gastric cancer under hyperglycemic conditions

To investigate the impact of hyperglycemia on the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer and identify key molecules associated with high glucose levels in gastric cancer development,RNA sequencing data and clinical features of gastric cancer patients were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database.High glucose-related genes strongly associated with gastric cancer were identified using weighted gene co-expression network and differential analyses.A gastric cancer prognosis signature was constructed based on these genes and patients were categorized into high-and low-risk groups.The immune statuses of the two patient groups were compared.ATP citrate lyase(ACLY),a gene significantly related to the prognosis,was found to be upregulated upon high-glucose stimulation.Immunohistochemistry and molecular analyses confirmed high ACLY expression in gastric cancer tissues and cells.Gene Set Enrichment Analysis(GSEA)revealed the involvement of ACLY in cell cycle and DNA replication processes.Inhibition of ACLY affected the proliferation and migration of gastric cancer cells induced by high glucose levels.These findings suggest that ACLY,as a high glucose-related gene,plays a critical role in gastric cancer progression.

Transcranial magneto-Acoustic Stimulation Attenuates Synaptic Plasticity Impairment through the Activation of Piezo1 in Alzheimer’s Disease Mouse Model

The neuropathological features of Alzheimer’s disease include amyloid plaques.Rapidly emerging evidence suggests that Piezo1,a mechanosensitive cation channel,plays a critical role in transforming ultrasound-related mechanical stimuli through its trimeric propeller-like structure,but the importance of Piezo1-mediated mechanotransduction in brain functions is less appreciated.However,apart from mechanical stimulation,Piezo1 channels are strongly modulated by voltage.We assume that Piezo1 may play a role in converting mechanical and electrical signals,which could induce the phagocytosis and degradation of Aβ,and the combined effect of mechanical and electrical stimulation is superior to single mechanical stimulation.Hence,we design a transcranial magneto-acoustic stimulation(TmaS)system,based on transcranial ultrasound stimulation(TUS)within a magnetic field that combines a magnetoacoustic coupling effect electric field and the mechanical force of ultrasound,and applied it to test the above hypothesis in 5xFAD mice.Behavioral tests,in vivo electrophysiological recordings,Golgi–Cox staining,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,immunofluorescence,immunohistochemistry,real-time quantitative PCR,Western blotting,RNA sequencing,and cerebral blood flow monitoring were used to assess whether TmaS can alleviate the symptoms of AD mouse model by activating Piezo1.

Meteorological influences on co-occurrence of O_(3) and PM_(2.5)pollution and implication for emission reductions in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei

Co-occurrence of surface ozone(O_(3))and fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))pollution(CP)was frequently observed in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH).More than 50%of CP days occurred during April-may in BTH,and the CP days reached up to 11 in two months of 2018.The PM_(2.5)or O_(3) concentration associated with CP was lower than but close to that in O_(3) and PM_(2.5)pollution,indicating compound harms during CP days with double-high concentrations of PM_(2.5)and O_(3).CP days were significantly facilitated by joint effects of the Rossby wave train that consisted of two centers associated with the Scandinavia pattern and one center over North China as well as a hot,wet,and stagnant environmental condition in BTH.After 2018,the number of CP days decreased sharply while the meteorological conditions did not change significantly.Therefore,changes in meteorological conditions did not really contribute to the decline of CP days in 2019 and 2020.This implies that the reduction of PM_(2.5)emission has resulted in a reduction of CP days(about 11 days in 2019 and 2020).The differences in atmospheric conditions revealed here were helpful to forecast the types of air pollution on a daily to weekly time scale.The reduction in PM_(2.5)emission was the main driving factor behind the absence of CP days in 2020,but the control of surface O_(3) must be stricter and deeper.

Argatroban promotes recovery of spinal cord injury by inhibiting the PAR1/JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway

Argatroban is a synthetic thrombin inhibitor approved by U.S.Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of thrombosis.However,whether it plays a role in the repair of spinal cord injury is unknown.In this study,we established a rat model of T10 moderate spinal cord injury using an NYU Impactor ModerⅢand performed intraperitoneal injection of argatroban for 3 consecutive days.Our results showed that argatroban effectively promoted neurological function recovery after spinal cord injury and decreased thrombin expression and activity in the local injured spinal cord.RNA sequencing transcriptomic analysis revealed that the differentially expressed genes in the argatroban-treated group were enriched in the JAK2/STAT3 pathway,which is involved in astrogliosis and glial scar formation.Western blotting and immunofluorescence results showed that argatroban downregulated the expression of the thrombin receptor PAR1 in the injured spinal cord and the JAK2/STAT3 signal pathway.Argatroban also inhibited the activation and proliferation of astrocytes and reduced glial scar formation in the spinal cord.Taken together,these findings suggest that argatroban may inhibit astrogliosis by inhibiting the thrombin-mediated PAR1/JAK2/STAT3 signal pathway,thereby promoting the recovery of neurological function after spinal cord injury.

As the search for effective treatments for COVID-19 continues,the high mortality rate among critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units(ICU)presents a profound challenge.This study explores the potential benefits of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)as a supplementary treatment for severe COVID-19.A total of 110 critically ill COVID-19 patients at the Intensive Care Unit(ICU)of Vulcan Hill Hospital between Feb.,2020,and April,2020(Wuhan,China)participated in this observational study.All patients received standard supportive care protocols,with a subset of 81 also receiving TCM as an adjunct treatment.Clinical characteristics during the treatment period and the clinical outcome of each patient were closely monitored and analysed.Our findings indicated that the TCM group exhibited a significantly lower mortality rate compared with the non-TCM group(16 of 81 vs 24 of 29;0.3 vs 2.3 person/month).In the adjusted Cox proportional hazards models,TCM treatment was associated with improved survival odds(Pmatory responses,as evidenced by the reduced levels of proinflammatory cytokines,and contribute to the recovery of multiple organic functions,thereby potentially increasing the survival rate of critically ill COVID-19 patients.

Hybrid Seasonal Prediction of Meridional Temperature Gradient Associated with“Warm Arctic-Cold Eurasia”

The meridional gradient of surface air temperature associated with“Warm Arctic–Cold Eurasia”(GradTAE)is closely related to climate anomalies and weather extremes in the mid-low latitudes.However,the Climate Forecast System Version 2(CFSv2)shows poor capability for GradTAE prediction.Based on the year-to-year increment approach,analysis using a hybrid seasonal prediction model for GradTAE in winter(HmaE)is conducted with observed September sea ice over the Barents–Kara Sea,October sea surface temperature over the North Atlantic,September soil moisture in southern North America,and CFSv2 forecasted winter sea ice over the Baffin Bay,Davis Strait,and Labrador Sea.HmaE demonstrates good capability for predicting GradTAE with a significant correlation coefficient of 0.84,and the percentage of the same sign is 88%in cross-validation during 1983−2015.HmaE also maintains high accuracy and robustness during independent predictions of 2016−20.Meanwhile,HmaE can predict the GradTAE in 2021 well as an experiment of routine operation.Moreover,well-predicted GradTAE is useful in the prediction of the large-scale pattern of“Warm Arctic–Cold Eurasia”and has potential to enhance the skill of surface air temperature occurrences in the east of China.
