Ce(Ⅲ)-modulation over non-enzymatic Pt/CeO_(2)/GO biosensor with outstanding sensitivity and stability for lactic acid detection

A series of non-enzymatic graphene functionalized biosensors was developed via deposition precipitation method for lactic acid(LA) detection,which we re characterized by transmission electron micro scopy(TEM),Raman spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,liquid chromatography-mass spectro metry,and proton nuclear magnetic re sonance(~1H NMR).The electrochemical performances of the non-enzymatic biosensors were measured by means of the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and cyclic voltammetry(CV) method.The comprehensive analysis of structures shows that Pt,CeO_(2),and GO components interact with each other.During the storing and releasing oxygen,the valence ratio of Ce^(3+)/Ce^(4+) and the number of oxygen vacancies in CeO_(2) change accordingly,which can be conducive to increasing electronic transmission capacity and finally leads to the improvement of electrocatalytic performance.Among them,the Pt/CeO_(2)/GO biosensor containing 0.47 at% platinum exhibits an excellent electrochemical detection performance with high sensitivity of 12.3 μA·L/(mmol·cm^(2)) and a low limit of detection(LOD) of 5.12 μmol/L in a wide linear range from 10 to 900 μmol/L.In addition,the proposed biosensor possesses a promising anti-interference capability,as well as high stability and good reproducibility,which was assessed by testing the cyclic voltammogram in 0.1 mol/L lactic acid one year later.The underlying mechanism was proposed for electrochemical oxidation of LA to carbon dioxide and acetic acid with the synergistic effect among Pt,CeO_(2),and GO.Furthermore,the results of the standard addition method in real samples(human serum and urine samples) reveal that the lactic acid detection of the non-enzymatic Pt/CeO_(2)/GO biosensor is accompanied by high reliability.Thus,it will be a valuable biosensor for in vitro detection of lactic acid level in clinical samples.

Recent Advances of Transition Metal Basic Salts for Electrocatalytic Oxygen Evolution Reaction and Overall Water Electrolysis

Electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)has been recognized as the bottleneck of overall water splitting,which is a promising approach for sustainable production of H_(2).Transition metal(TM)hydroxides are the most conventional and classical non-noble metal-based electrocatalysts for OER,while TM basic salts[M^(2+)(OH)_(2-x)(A_(m^(-))_(x/m),A=CO_(3)^(2−),NO_(3)^(−),F^(−),Cl^(−)]consisting of OH−and another anion have drawn extensive research interest due to its higher catalytic activity in the past decade.In this review,we summarize the recent advances of TM basic salts and their application in OER and further overall water splitting.We categorize TM basic salt-based OER pre-catalysts into four types(CO_(3)^(2−),NO_(3)^(−),F^(−),Cl^(−)according to the anion,which is a key factor for their outstanding performance towards OER.We highlight experimental and theoretical methods for understanding the structure evolution during OER and the effect of anion on catalytic performance.To develop bifunctional TM basic salts as catalyst for the practical electrolysis application,we also review the present strategies for enhancing its hydrogen evolution reaction activity and thereby improving its overall water splitting performance.Finally,we conclude this review with a summary and perspective about the remaining challenges and future opportunities of TM basic salts as catalysts for water electrolysis.

Effect of electrode Pt-loading and cathode flow-field plate type on the degradation of PEMFC

The electrode Pt-loading has an effect on the number of active sites and the thickness of catalyst layer,which has huge influence on the mass transfer and water management during dynamic process in PEMFCs. In this study, membrane electrode assemblies with different Pt-loadings were prepared, and PEMFCs were assembled using those membrane electrode assemblies with traditional solid plate and water transport plate as cathode flow-field plates, respectively. The performance and electrochemical surface area of cells were characterized to evaluate the membrane electrode assemblies degradation after rapid currentvariation cycles. Scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope were used to investigate the decay of catalyst layers and Pt/C catalyst. With the increase of Pt-loading, the performance degradation of membrane electrode assemblies will be mitigated. But higher Pt-loading means thicker catalyst layer, which leads to a longer pathway of mass transfer, and it may result in carbon material corrosion in membrane electrode assemblies. The decay of Pt/C catalyst in cathode is mainly caused by the corrosion of carbon support, and the degradation of anode Pt/C catalyst is a consequence of migration and aggregation of Pt particles. And using water transport plate is beneficial to alleviating the age of cathode Pt/C catalyst.

Effect of Ga addition on the magnetic properties and microstructure of nanocrystalline Nd_(12.3)Fe_(81.7)B_(6.0) ribbons

Nd 12.3 Fe 81.7 x Ga x B 6.0 （x = 0-1.8） ribbons were prepared by melt spinning at 22 m/s and subsequent annealing treatment. The influences of Ga addition and annealing conditions on the magnetic properties and microstructure of the nanocrystalline alloys were systematically investigated. After being annealed at 620℃ for 20 min, the J r and H ci increased from 0.85 T and 582.6 kA/m for Ga-free sample to 0.97 T and 734.6 kA/m for the x = 0.9 sample, respectively. The （BH） max for the x = 0.9 sample increased by about 40% from 96.3 to 135.5 kJ/m 3 compared with that of the Ga-free one. The significant improvement of magnetic properties originated from the refinement of grains in the samples by introducing Ga, which led to a stronger exchange coupling between the neighboring grains in comparison with that in Ga-free samples. The microstructure and magnetic properties of the samples depended strongly on annealing parameters, while the sensitivity of micro-structure to annealing conditions could be significantly suppressed by the addition of Ga element.

1 Introduction Mechanical properties of coal are most important parameters in controlling fluid storage and flow before and after coal extraction [1-2].Reservoir simulation design and wellbore stability analysis are influenced by elastic and strength character of coal rocks[3].Young＇s modulus, and shear modulus are usedwhen deformations in underground mines need to be computed. Thus accurate assessment of elastic properties of coal rocks is extremely important for ground mining.

Modified room temperature solid-state synthesis of yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ) nano-powders for solid oxide fuel cells

High-performance solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) is in urgent need of high-quality electrolyte powders with high reactivity and chemical uniformity.Here,8 mol% Y_(2)O_(3) doped ZrO_(2)(YSZ) nano-powders were synthesized by an improved solid-state reaction method at ambient temperature,and were applied to the fabrication of SOFC electrolytes.YSZ nano-powders show average grain sizes of ^(2)0 nm and high dispersibility,which is comparable with or even better than some other chemical methods.Benefitting from their high reactivity,dense YSZ electrolytes(relative density of 97.9%) can be obtained at a relatively low sintering temperature of 1400℃.The optimized electrical conductivity reaches up to a high value of0.034 S/cm at 800 0C in air.The anode supported single cell with the construction of Ni-YSZ/YSZ/Sm_(0.2)Ce_(0.8)O_(2-δ)(SDC)/La_(0.6)Sr_(0.4)Co_(0.2)Fe_(0.8)O_(3-δ)(LSCF) exhibits the peak power density of 0.827 W/cm^(2) at800℃ while taking wet H_(2) as fuels and ambient air as oxidants.

Bolt support mechanism based on elastic theory

Mechanical model of anchorage surrounding rock considering tray effect was established based on elastic theory,in order to study the mechanism of bolt supporting.Elastic solutions of normal force at point in the interior of a semi-infnite solid were obtained by means of classical displacement function method in elasticity.The factors which influence stress of bolted surrounding rock,such as the length of bolt and tray effect,were analyzed.The absolute value of stress along bolt axes decreased rapidly with an increase in radical distance and the maximum appeared near ends of bolt.With increasing radical distance,the value of radical stress changed from positive to negative roughly and then increased to zero,with maximum at the middle of bolt.The evolution of hoop stress as radical distance increasing was similar with stress along bolt axes.With an increase in depth,the radical effect ranges of all normal stress components were reduced.These suggest that the effect from tray on stress along bolt axes of bolted surrounding rock could be neglected,except near surface of surrounding rock.

Three lightweight Al_(2)O_(3)-MgO castables were fabricated with tabular alumina or microporous corundum as the aggregates,reactiveα-Al_(2)O_(3)micropowder,tabular alumina powder,and fused magnesia powder as the matrix,calcium aluminate cement as the binder,and MgO ultrafine powder(d50=5.4μm)and Al(OH)3 ultrafine powder(d50=8.2μm)as additives.The influence of aggregates and ultrafine powders on the properties,including pore size distribution,heat conductivity,thermal shock resistance,and slag resistance of lightweight refractory castables was investigated.The results show that the incorporation of microporous corundum reduces the bulk density of Al_(2)O_(3)-MgO castables,and MgO and Al(OH)3 ultrafine powders further increases the proportion of micropores in castables,which is beneficial to reducing the heat conductivity,and improving the thermal shock resistance and slag resistance of castables.Additionally,MgO ultrafine powder and Al(OH)3 ultrafine powder increase the fluidity and the strength of castables.

In situ TEM visualization of Ag catalysis in Li-O_(2)nanobatteries

Lithium-oxygen(Li-O_(2))batteries have been considered as an ideal solution to solving the global energy crisis.Silver(Ag)and Agbased catalyst have been extensively studied due to their high catalytic activities in Li-O_(2)batteries.However,it remains a challenge to track the catalytic mechanism during the charge/discharge process.Here,a nanoscale processing method was used to assemble a Li-O_(2)nanobattery in an aberration-corrected environmental transmission electron microscope(ETEM),where a single Ag nanowire(NW)was used as catalyst for O_(2)electrode.A visualization of the lithium ion insertion process during the electrochemical reactions was achieved in this nanobattery.Numerous Ag nanoparticles(NPs)were observed on the surface of the Ag NW,which were covered by the discharge product Li2O_(2).By simultaneously studying the evolution of the interface and the phase transformation,it can be concluded that these Ag NPs wrapped around Ag NW acted as catalyst during the subsequent charge/discharge reaction.Based on these studies,Ag NPs decorated on porous carbon were synthesized,it can simultaneously improve the cycling stability(100 cycles)and the maximum specific capacity(17,371 mAh·g^(−1)at a current density of 100 mA·g^(−1))in a coin cell Li-O_(2)battery.This study suggests that nanoscale Ag may be a promising catalyst for Li-O_(2)battery.

Influence of co-solvent hydroxyl group number on properties of water-based conductive carbon pastes

A series of water-based conductive carbon pastes were prepared by wet ball milling, followed by vacuum defoaming using isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol or glycerin as co-solvents. Screen printing was then used to prepare conductive patterns. To determine the influence of co-solvent hydroxyl group number on the properties of water-based conductive carbon pastes, the rheological properties of the pastes and the surface morphologies and conductivities of the printed patterns were characterized. The results show that paste viscosity increased with the number of hydroxyl groups and the latter also affected thixotropy. In addition, the boiling points and surface tensions of the co-solvents increased consistently with hydroxyl group number, affecting the hydrodynamic flow. The conductive carbon paste created using propylene glycol as a co-solvent was the best for screen printing because of its weak coffee-ring effect and appro- priate rheological properties, resulting in a smooth coating surface and uniform deposition of the fillers. The resistivity of the pattern printed using paste PG, containing the closest packing of conductive carbon black particles, was 0.44 Ω cm.
