Laser speckle contrast imaging to predict the effect of temporary spinal cord stimulation in postherpetic neuralgia patients: A prospective observational study

Temporary spinal cord stimulation(tSCS)can effectively reduce the pain and severity of postherpetic neuralgia(PHN).However,there are no effective and objective methods for predicting the effects of tSCS on *** speckle contrast imaging(LSCI)is frequently used in neurology to evaluate the effectiveness of *** assess the accuracy of LSCI in predicting the impact of tSCS on PHN,1. adult patients receiving tSCS treatments for spinal nerve-innervated(C6-T2)PHN participated in this observational *** analog scale(VAS)assessments and LSCI bloodflow images of the-ngers were recorded after the tSCS *** results showed that the VAS scores of all patients decreased ***,the bloodflow index(BFI)values were signi-cantly higher than they were before the *** bloodflow and pain alleviation were positively ***-ndings indicated that spinal nerve PHN(C6-T2)was signi-cantly reduced by *** alleviation by tSCS was positively correlated with increased bloodflow in the *** effect of tSCS on PHN may thus be predicted using an independent and consistent indicator such as LSCI.

van der Waals(vdW)semiconductors have gained significant attention due to their unique physical properties and promising applications,which are embedded within distinct crystallographic ***,we report a pressure-induced crystallineamorphization-recrystallization transition under compression in binary vdW semiconductor *** compression to 52 GPa,bulk SiP undergoes a consecutive phase transition from pristine crystalline to amorphous phase,ultimately to recrystallized *** employing synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments in conjunction with high-pressure crystal structure searching techniques,we reveal that the recrystallized Si P hosts a tetragonal structure(space group I4mm)and further transforms partially into a cubic phase(space group Fm3m).Consistently,electrical transport and alternating-current magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate the presence of three superconducting phases,which are embedded in separate crystallographic symmetries—the amorphous,tetragonal,and cubic ***,a high superconducting transition temperature of 1..3 K is observed in its recovered tetragonal phase during *** findings uncover a novel phase evolution path and elucidate a pressure-engineered structure-property relationship in vdW semiconductor *** results not only offer a new platform to explore the transformation between different structures and functionalities,but also provide new opportunities for the design and exploration of advanced devices based on vdW materials.

Dear Editor,Cucumber(Cucumis sativus)is a key vegetable crop and an essential model for genetics and genomics research in Cucurbitaceae,especially in studies on plant sex determination and vascular *** the first sequenced genome among vegetable crops,the cucumber reference genome has been a crucial genetic resource for comparative genomics and genetic ***,the latest version of the cucumber *** Long reference genome(CLv3.0),generated using PacBio long-reads data,is *** a predicted genome size of 350-367 Mb,CLv3.0 encompasses only 226.2 Mb,leaving 72 gaps and over 1.0 Mb of unknown *** low assembly completeness(approximately 62%)is primarily due to the high proportion(~30%)of heterochromatic satellite and rDNA sequences in cucumber,substantially higher than that observed in many other species such as Arabidopsis,rice,maize,and watermelon,where it is less than 5%(Han et al.,2008;Huang et al.,2009;Li et al.,201.).

The performance of catalyst depends on the intrinsic activity of active sites and the structural characteristics of the ***,we simultaneously integrate single nickel(Ni)sites and platinum-nickel(PtNi)alloy nanoparticles(NPs)on a two-dimensional(2D)porous carbon nanosheet,demonstrating remarkable catalytic performance in the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).The single Ni sites can activate the oxygen molecules into key oxygen-containing intermediate that is further efficiently transferred to the adjacent PtNi alloy NPs and rapidly reduced to H_(2)O,which establishes a relay catalysis between active *** porous structure on the carbon nanosheet support promotes the transfer of active intermediates between these active sites,which assists the relay catalysis by improving mass ***,the obtained catalyst demonstrates a half-wave potential of up to 0.942 V,a high mass activity of 0.54 A·mgPt^(−1.,and negligible decay of activity after 30,000 cycles,which are all superior to the commercial Pt/C catalysts with comparable loading of *** theoretical calculation results reveal that the obtained catalyst with defect structure of carbon support presents enhanced relay catalytic effect of PtNi alloy NPs and single Ni sites,ultimately realizing improved catalytic *** work provides valuable inspiration for developing low platinum loading catalyst,integrating single atoms and alloy with outstanding performance in fuel cell.

Formamidine lead triiodide(FAPbI_(3))perovskites have become the most promising photovoltaic materials for perovskite solar cells with record power conversion efficiency(PCE).However,random nucleation,phase transition,and lattice defects are still the key challenges limiting the quality of FAPbI_(3) *** studies show that the introduction or adding of seeds in the precursor is effective to promote the nucleation and crystallization of perovskite ***,the seed-assisted approach focuses on heterogeneous seeds or hetero-composites,which inevitably induce a lattice-mismatch,the genera-tion of strain or defects,and the phase segregation in the perovskite ***,we first demonstrate that high-quality perovskite films are controllably prepared using α-and δ-phases mixed FAPbI_(3) micro-crystal as the homogeneous seeds with the one-step antisolvent *** partially dissolved seeds with suitable sizes improve the crystallinity of the perovskite flm with preferable orientation,improved carrier lifetime,and increased carrier *** importantly,the α-phase-containing seeds promote the formation of α-phase FAPbI_(3) films,leading to the reduction of residual lattice strain and the suppres-sion of I-ion ***,the adding of dimethyl 2,6-pyridine dicarboxylate(DPD)into the pre-cursor further suppresses the generation of defects,contributing to the PCE of devices prepared in air ambient being significantly improved to 23.75%,among the highest PCEs for fully air-processed FAPbI_(3) solar *** unpackaged target devices possess a high stability,maintaining 80%of the initial PCE under simulated solar illumination exceeding 800 h.

Pig models are widely used in otological research. The establishment of common pig and miniature pig animal models has opened up new fields in otological research and is also an ideal large otological animal model. This article introduces the applications, current status, progress, advantages, and issues of using pigs as otologic animal models. It summarizes current research on pigs in the fields of hearing disorders, otitis, vertigo, cochlea, gene editing, and tissue engineering, among other otologic and audiological areas. These models are valuable for translating basic medical science into clinical applications. Based on this, platforms have been established for studying deafness and vertigo, cochlear implantation experiments, stem cell and gene therapy, and tissue engineering. These serve as ideal experimental models for the prevention and treatment of ear diseases, pointing toward new directions. This will bolster the promotion and application of pig models in the fields of tissue engineering and gene editing in the future.

Hyperlipidemia is a kind of pancreatitis caused by high triglyceride levels in the blood. The morbidity and mortality of this disease continue to increase worldwide, and it has become one of the most common gastrointestinal diseases in developed countries worldwide. Although many studies have been conducted, the pathogenesis still cannot be defined. Many studies have shown that this may be related to the triglyceride decomposition products free fatty acids are the main toxic substances, which can directly damage pancreatic acinar cells and vascular endothelial cells, causing tissue ischemia and acidic environment. Therefore, this paper focuses on the correlation of triglycerides and their decomposition products in plasma and provides evidence on the pathogenesis of AP and the disease progression of AP. Finally, the future potential to prevent and treat acute pancreatitis by some new drugs to reduce plasma triglycerides is summarized.
