Fluctuations in the tidal limit of the Yangtze River estuary in the last decade

The tidal limit is the key interface indicating whether water levels will be affected by tidal waves, which is of great significance to navigation safety and regional flood control. Due to limitations in research methods, recent changes in the Yangtze River tidal limit, caused by sea level rise and large-scale engineering projects, urgently need to be studied. In this study,spectrum analysis was undertaken on measured water level data from downstream Yangtze River hydrological stations from2007 to 2016. The bounds of the tidal limit were identified through comparisons between the spectra and red noise curves, and the fluctuation range and characteristics were summarized. The results showed that:(1) During the extremely dry period, when the flow rate at Jiujiang station was about 8440 m3 s-1, the tidal limit was near Jiujiang; whereas during the flood season, when the flow rate at Jiujiang station was about 66700 m3 s-1, the tidal limit was between Zongyang Sluice and Chikou station.(2)From the upper to lower reach, the effect of the Jiujiang flow rate on the tidal limit weakens, while the effect of the Nanjing tidal range increases. The tidal limit fluctuates under similar flow rates and tidal ranges, and the fluctuation range increases with increasing flow rate and decreasing tidal range.(3) With the continued influence of rising sea levels and construction in river basin estuaries, the tidal limit may move further upstream.

Based on systematical analysis of grain size and element geochemistry of the hard clay samples from Suzhou Area, China, it is found that the hard clay consists essentially of silty grains of 4 to 63 ptm in size? with an average grain diameter of 5. 2 to 7. 1 Ф and also a small amount of fraction with diagram higher than 63 /nm. It tends to display the bimodal patterns of distribution.

Performance and electromagnetic mechanism of radar-and infraredcompatible stealth materials based on photonic crystals

Traditional stealth materials do not fulfill the requirements of high absorption for radar waves and low emissivity for infrared ***,they can be detected by various technologies,considerably threatening weapon ***,a stealth material compatible with radar and infrared was designed based on the photonic bandgap characteristics of photonic *** radar stealth lay-er(bottom layer)is a composite of carbonyl iron/silicon dioxide/epoxy resin,and the infrared stealth layer(top layer)is a 1D photonic crystal with alternately and periodically stacked germanium and silicon *** composition optimization and structural adjust-ment,the effective absorption bandwidth of the compatible stealth material with a reflection loss of less than-10 dB has reached 4.95 *** average infrared emissivity of the proposed design is 0.1063,indicating good stealth *** theoretical analysis proves that photonic crystals with this structural design can produce infrared waves within the photonic bandgap,achieving high radar wave transmittance and low infrared *** stealth is achieved without affecting the absorption performance of the radar stealth layer,and the conflict between radar and infrared stealth performance is *** work aims to promote the application of photonic crystals in compatible stealth materials and the development of stealth technology and to provide a design and theoretical found-ation for related experiments and research.

Synthesis of ternary geopolymers using prediction for effective solidification of mercury in tailings

This study used steel slag,fly ash,and metakaolin as raw materials(SFM materials)to create silica-alumina-based geopolymers that can solidify Hg^(2+)when activated with sodiumbased water *** experiments began with a triangular lattice point mixing design experiment,and the results were fitted,analyzed,and *** optimum SFM material mass ratio was found to be 70%steel slag,25%fly ash,and 5%*** optimum modulus of the activator was identified by comparing the unconfined compressive strength and solidifying impact on Hg^(2+)of geosynthetics with different *** SFM geopolymer was then applied in the form of potting to cure the granulated mercury *** inclusion of 50%SFM material generated a geosynthetic that reduced mercury transport to the surface soil by roughly 90%.The mercury concentration of herbaceous plant samples was also reduced by 78%.It indicates that the SFM material can effectively attenuate the migration transformation of ***,characterization methods such as XPS and FTIR were used to investigate the mechanism of Hg^(2+)solidification by geopolymers generated by SFM *** possible solidification mechanisms were proposed as alkaline environment-induced mercury precipitation,chemical bonding s,surface adsorption of Hg^(2+)and its precipitates by the geopolymer,and physical encapsulation.

Fracture is the primary failure type for the UO_(2)ceramic pellets,which are operated under irradiation and thermal processes,and physically confined by the *** this work,by combining closely coupled physical processes of heat conduction,heat transfer,and mechanical deformation with the cohesive phase field framework,we proposed a high-precision modeling of quasistatic cracking of three-dimensional(3D)UO_(2)ceramic fuel pellets under high temperature and *** simulation results agree well with the experimental results,indicating that the proposed method has the potential to capture 3D crack modes in the interested time ***,we studied the relation of the 3D fracture patterns of fuel pellets with the peak power *** was found that the power level plays a critical role in determining the competition between radial and circumferential cracks,as well as transverse penetrating cracks.

Managing virus diseases in citrus:Leveraging high-throughput sequencing for versatile applications

In this review,the advantages and advances in applying high-throughput sequencing(HTS)in the management of viral diseases in citrus,along with some challenges,are discussed to provide perspectives on future *** the initial implementation of HTS in citrus virology,a substantial number of citrus viruses have been identified,with a notable increase in the last 7 *** acquisition of viral genomes and various HTS-based omics analyses serve as crucial pillars for advancing research in the etiology,epidemiology,pathology,evolution,ecology,and biotechnology of citrus *** has notably contributed to disease diagnosis,such as the diagnoses of concave gum and impietratura,as well as to the surveillance of new virus risks and the preparation of virus-free ***,certain inherent defects in HTS and coupled bioinformatics analysis,such as challenges with sequence assembly and the detection of viral dark matter,require improvement to enhance practical *** addition,the utilization of HTS for the systematic management of citrus viral diseases remains limited,and drawing insights from other virus-plant pathosystems while integrating emerging compatible techniques and ideas may broaden its specific applications.

van der Waals(vdW)heterostructures constructed by lowdimensional(0D,1D,and 2D)materials are emerging as one of the most appealing systems in next-generation flexible ***,hand-stacked vdW-type photodetectors are not compatible with large-areaarray fabrication and show unimpressive performance in self-powered ***,vertical 1D GaN nanorods arrays(NRAs)/2D MoS_(2)/PEDOT:PSS in wafer scale have been proposed for self-powered flexible photodetectors arrays *** as-integrated device without external bias under weak UV illumination exhibits a competitive responsivity of 1.47 A W^(−1)and a high detectivity of 1.2×10^(11)Jones,as well as a fast response speed of 54/71μs,thanks to the strong light absorption of GaN NRAs and the efficient photogenerated carrier separation in type-II ***,the strain-tunable photodetection performances of device have been ***,the device at−0.78%strain and zero bias reveals a significantly enhanced photoresponse with a responsivity of 2.47 A W^(−1),a detectivity of 2.6×10^(11)Jones,and response times of 40/45μs,which are superior to the state-of-the-art self-powered flexible *** work presents a valuable avenue to prepare tunable vdWs heterostructures for self-powered flexible photodetection,which performs well in flexible sensors.

Total synthesis of(+)-taberdicatine B and(+)-tabernabovine B

The first total synthesis of(+)-taberdicatine B and(+)-tabernabovine B has been accomplished in 10steps with 26.9% overall yield and 15 steps with 7.3% overall yield, respectively. The prominent features of this efficient synthetic strategy include the following:(1)(+)-Taberdicatine B and(+)-tabernabovine B were accessed from common advanced intermediates by varying the substituents;(2) A one-pot asymmetric bromocyclization/hydrolysis was explored to assemble HPI skeleton;(3) Dieckmann condensation to form β-keto ester for the assembly of seven-membered ring;(4) An ester reduction/amide semireduction/cyclization sequence was applied to form the cage-like framework.
