Multifunctional electroactive bio-adhesive for robustly-integrated wound therapy and postoperative wound-status warning and assessment

Wound abnormalities such as secondary wound laceration and inflammation are common postoperative health hazards during clinical procedures.The continuous treatment,healing induction,and real-time visualization of wound status and complications,including wound re-tearing,inflammation,and morphology,are key focal points for comprehensive healthcare.Herein,an on-demand quadruple energy dissipative strategy was proposed for the nanoengineering of a physically and chemically synergistic double-layer gelatin-based bio-adhesive(DLGel)by combining a multi-network adhesive layer and a versatile electroactive energy dissipative layer based on contrivable interlocking micro-pillar arrays and crosslinked polymer chains.The subtly multiple energy dissipation designs enable DLGel with robust adhesive strength to omnipotently wet and dynamic tissue,providing a basis for reliable wound closure.DLGel achieves comprehensive wound-healing induction through electrical stimulation and possesses reversible underwater light/thermal adhesion,excellent hemostatic performance,outstanding antimicrobial properties,and self-repair capability.Furthermore,a novel deep-learning strategy is creatively established to respond to mechanical deformation due to wound anomalies.This strategy translates biological information into visual graphics,providing real-time early warning and assessment of postoperative wound-abnormality/-morphology,such as laceration,inflammation,and necrosis.Therefore,DLGel and its associated signal collection and processing protocol enable the integration of reliable wound closure,wound healing,and real-time postoperative wound-status warning and assessment within the unobservable and undetectable“black box”regions in a context of non-clinical comprehensive therapy.

Microstructure Recrystallization and Mechanical Properties of a Cold-Rolled TiNbZrTaHf Refractory High-Entropy Alloy

The equiatomic TiNbZrTaHf alloy was successfully rolled at room temperature with the reduction of ~ 85%. The microstructure and tensile properties were investigated after cold working and annealing. It was determined that the recrystallization temperature of the TiNbZrTaHf alloy between 850 and 900 ℃. Complete recrystallization and normal grain growth occurred, the high stability of single phase was maintained after annealing at 1000, 1200, and 1400 ℃. But the precipitated phase appeared after long term annealing, as seen after 500 h at 1000 ℃. After cold working, the tensile strength and the elongation of TiNbZrTaHf were 1137 MPa and 25.1%, respectively. The annealed alloy has a high tensile strength (σ_(b )= 863 MPa) and ductility (ε_(e )= 28.5%). Moreover, the oxidation of TiNbZrTaHf alloy at elevated temperatures has a significant impact on its mechanical properties. The poor oxidation resistance of TiNbZrTaHf can accelerate tensile failure by inducing fractures at grain boundaries.

Stress and illness connection is complex and involves multiple physiological systems.Panax ginsengs,reputed for their broad-spectrum“cure-all”effect,are widely prescribed to treat stress and related illnesses.However,the identity of ginseng’s“cure-all”medicinal compounds that relieve stress remains unresolved.Here,we identify ginsentides as the principal bioactives that coordinate multiple systems to restore homeostasis in response to stress.Ginsentides are disulfide-rich,cell-penetrating and proteolytic-stable microproteins.Using affinity-enrichment mass spectrometry target identification together with in vitro,ex vivo and in vivo validations,we show that highly purified or synthetic ginsentides promote vasorelaxation by producing nitric oxide through endothelial cells via intracellular PI3K/Akt signaling pathway,alleviate a1-adrenergic receptor overactivity by reversing phenylephrine-induced constriction of aorta,decrease monocyte adhesion to endothelial cells via CD166/ESAM/CD40 and inhibit P2Y12 receptors to reduce platelet aggregation.Orally administered ginsentides were effective in animal models to reduce ADP-induced platelet aggregation,to prevent collagen and adrenalineinduced pulmonary thrombosis as well as anti-stress behavior of tail suspension and forced swimming tests in mice.Together,these results strongly suggest that ginsentides are the principal panacea compounds of ginsengs because of their ability to target multiple extra-and intra-cellular proteins to reverse stress-induced damages.

Independent manipulation of transmitted and reflected light fields is a key technology for the realization of multifunctional optical applications,which can be implemented based on multilayered plasmonic or supercell subwavelength structures.However,the former is not suitable for the optical bands,while the latter is insufficient in generating large phase gradients.Here,an adjoint-optimization-based inverse design methodology is proposed,which utilizes the polarization-selective local interference between individual meta-atoms and enables monolayer dielectric metasurfaces to decouple the wavefront of transmitted and reflected optical fields.Moreover,this methodology serves to mitigate the aperiodic electromagnetic crosstalk inherent between adjacent meta-atoms,consequently leading to a significant enhancement in the performance of meta-devices.We analyzed the physical mechanism of adjoint optimization and proposed the concept of phase factors,highlighting their importance in the rapid inverse design of meta-devices—an aspect often overlooked in previous research.To demonstrate the feasibility and robustness of our method,we optimize monolayer metasurfaces with different initial structures.These devices efficiently focus and deflect x-linearly and y-linearly polarized incident light in transmission and reflection spaces,respectively.Overall,this methodology holds immense potential for designing multifunctional,high-performing metasurfaces that meet multiple constraints,opening up broad prospects for applications.

The roles of microstructural anisotropy in tribo-corrosion performance of one certain laser cladding Fe-based alloy

Because of the microstructural anisotropy for laser cladding materials,the tribo-corrosion performance can vary significantly with different directions.In this study,one certain Fe-based coating was fabricated by laser cladding.To study the effects of anisotropy,three working surfaces(0°,45°,and 90°to the building direction)were machined from the laser cladding samples;as-cast samples with an approximately homogeneous structure were prepared as controls.The tribo-corrosion tests were conducted in a 3.5 wt%NaCl solution with varying normal loads(5,10,and 15 N).The results demonstrated that the 45°surface has superior friction stability,corrosion resistance,and wear resistance.This was directly related to the crystal orientation and grain boundary density.In addition,a refined microstructure may enhance tribo-corrosion properties by increasing deformation resistance and decreasing surface activity.

All-optical suppression on the impact of Sun outage in laser satellite communication systems by using a nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifier

We introduce an all-optical approach,optical parametric amplification(OPA)processor to suppress the impact of Sun outage in laser satellite communication systems,which is implemented by only one nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifier driven by both electrical and optical pumps.The optimized OPA processor,with a current of 539 mA and a pump-to-signal ratio of 16 dB,could significantly improve the signal quality by 3.5 dB in experiments for the elevation angle of Sun radiation of 0 rad.The signal quality improvement is observed in the whole range of the elevation angle,confirming the effectiveness of the proposed OPA processor in the field of Sun radiation mitigation.

Coxsackievirus A6 of the D3a genotype(CVA6 D3a)is a primary pathogen causingmainland of China's hand,foot,and mouth disease(HFMD).Viral‐like particle(VLP)vaccines represent a potential candidate vaccine to prevent HFMD.This study collected Anti‐CVA6 D3a VLPs serum from BALB/c female mice immunized using CVA6 D3a VLPs.The neutralizing antibody levels were compared against the representative 14‐JX2018(D3a)and N4‐YN2015(D3b)strains between the antisera of different immune pathways.The immunoprotective effect of anti‐CVA6 D3a VLPs against these strains was monitored using pathological sections and immuno-histochemical results of lung and skeletal muscle tissues in seven‐day‐old Institute of Cancer Research(ICR)mice.Immunological protection against different branches of viruses was evaluated in 7‐day‐old(serum passive immune protection)and 14‐day‐old(VLPs active immune protection)neonatal ICR mice models.Serum‐neutralizing antibody levels were positively correlated with the number of immunizations and higher against 14‐JX2018 than against N4‐YN2015.Furthermore,these levels were significantly higher with abdominal injection than intramuscular injection.The immunized serum of 7‐day‐old ICR mice inoculated three times was 100%protected against CVA6 D3a 14‐JX2018(lethal titer:106.25 TCID 50)and CVA6 D3b N4‐YN2015(lethal titer:105.25TCID 50)fatal attacks,respectively.For ICR mice that have completed two active immunizations for 14 days,both CVA6 D3a 14‐JX2015(challenge titer:108.25 TCID 50)and CVA6 D3b N4‐YN2015(challenge titer:107.25 TCID 50)were used for the challenge,and the mice were able to survive.Overall,the CVA6 D3a VLPs prepared in this study are a potential vaccine candidate for CVA6,as it has the optimal protective effect against both CVA6 D3a and D3b evolutionary branches viruses.

Mapping China’s offshore mariculture based on dense time-series optical and radar data

Due to the weak information about cultural targets in the complex marine environment,an omission problem exists in large-scale mariculture extraction using single-view and single-source images.To overcome this problem,we developed a mariculture extraction method that combines dense time-series Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 data.A high-precision Chinese mariculture distribution map for 2020 was produced with an overall accuracy of 94.00%and a kappa coefficient of 0.91.The results show that(1)the total area of mariculture was 1173249.22 ha on the national scale,which was significantly larger than the previous studies(459595.70 and 205920.28 ha,respectively),with Shandong Province(39.09%)having the largest proportion;(2)China’s mariculture presented a spatial distribution characteristic of‘Denser North and Sparser South’,and mariculture was centralized in the coastal zones of the northern provinces(60.76%)rather than the southern provinces;(3)the official production statistics and remote sensing-derived mariculture area revealed a highly corresponding trend at the provincial level,with an R2 reaching 0.78,which is much higher than the 0.07 and 0.41 values of the comparison data.The results directly provide data reference for mariculture production estimation and site selection or ideas for mariculture extraction in other regions and globally.

Objective: DNA damage response(DDR) deficiency has emerged as a prominent determinant of tumor immunogenicity. This study aimed to construct a DDR-related immune activation(DRIA) signature and evaluate the predictive accuracy of the DRIA signature for response to immune checkpoint inhibitor(ICI) therapy in gastrointestinal(GI) cancer.Methods: A DRIA signature was established based on two previously reported DNA damage immune response assays. Clinical and gene expression data from two published GI cancer cohorts were used to assess and validate the association between the DRIA score and response to ICI therapy. The predictive accuracy of the DRIA score was validated based on one ICI-treated melanoma and three pan-cancer published cohorts.Results: The DRIA signature includes three genes(CXCL10, IDO1, and IFI44L). In the discovery cancer cohort, DRIA-high patients with gastric cancer achieved a higher response rate to ICI therapy than DRIA-low patients(81.8% vs. 8.8%;P < 0.001), and the predictive accuracy of the DRIA score [area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC) = 0.845] was superior to the predictive accuracy of PD-L1 expression, tumor mutational burden, microsatellite instability, and Epstein–Barr virus status. The validation cohort demonstrated that the DRIA score identified responders with microsatellite-stable colorectal and pancreatic adenocarcinoma who received dual PD-1 and CTLA-4 blockade with radiation therapy. Furthermore, the predictive performance of the DRIA score was shown to be robust through an extended validation in melanoma, urothelial cancer, and pan-cancer.Conclusions: The DRIA signature has superior and robust predictive accuracy for the efficacy of ICI therapy in GI cancer and pancancer, indicating that the DRIA signature may serve as a powerful biomarker for guiding ICI therapy decisions.

研究目的:由于道岔区轨道刚度和质量分布不均匀及其固有的不平顺性,结构受力比正线复杂。道岔一直是病害高发区域和养护维修的难点,因此顶桥下穿铁路咽喉道岔区比铁路正线风险高、难度大。基于此,本文提出一种新的受力性能好、适用范围广、应用于顶桥下穿多股道铁路咽喉道岔区的加固体系。研究结论:(1)横梁按照简支梁结构计算与实际横梁受力状态不相符,对纵横梁加固体系进行数值模拟分析时,将纵梁、钢轨、扣轨梁及岔枕等构件考虑在内,与实际工程中横梁的受力状态较为相符;(2)路基模量的变化对横梁和钢轨位移影响较小,为防止施工中顶桥区域及其两侧路基塌陷,建议采取适当注浆措施;(3)本文研究对顶桥下穿多股道既有铁路道岔区工程加固体系设计具有借鉴意义。
