Significant contribution of secondary particulate matter to recurrent air pollution:Evidence from in situ observation in the most polluted city of Fen-Wei Plain of China

Particulate matter(PM_(2.5))pollution in high emission regions will affect air quality,human health and climate change on both local and regional scales,and thus attract worldwide attention.In this study,a comprehensive study on PM_(2.5)and its chemical composition were performed in Yuncheng(the most polluted city of Fen-Wei Plain of China)from November28,2020 to January 24,2021.The average concentration of PM_(2.5)was 87.8±52.0μg/m^(3),which were apparently lower than those observed during the same periods of past five years,attributable to the clean air action plan implemented in this region.NO_(3)^(-)and organic carbon(OC)were the dominant particulate components,which on average contributed 22.6%and16.5%to PM_(2.5)2.5,respectively.The fractions of NO_(3)^(-),NH_(4)^(+),OC and trace metals increased while those of crustal materials and elemental carbon decreased with the degradation of PM_(2.5)pollution.Six types of PM_(2.5)sources were identified by the PM_(2.5)F model,including secondary inorganic aerosol(35.3%),coal combustion(28.7%),vehicular emission(20.7%),electroplating industry(8.6%),smelt industry(3.9%)and dust(2.8%).Locations of each identified source were pinpointed based on conditional probability function,potential source contribution function and concentration weighted trajectory,which showed that the geographical distribution of the sources of PM_(2.5)roughly agreed with the areas of high emission.Overall,this study provides valuable information on atmospheric pollution and deems beneficial for policymakers to take informed action to sustainably improve air quality in highly polluted region.

Highly robust zinc metal anode directed by organic–inorganic synergistic interfaces for wearable aqueous zinc battery

Flexible aqueous zinc batteries(FAZBs)with high safety and environmental friendliness are promising smart power sources for smart wearable electronics.However,the bare zinc anode usually suffers from damnable dendrite growth and rampant side reaction on the surface,greatly impeding practical applications in FAZBs.Herein,a composite polymer interface layer is artificially self‐assembled on the surface of the zinc anode by graft‐modified fluorinated monomer(polyacrylic acid‐2‐(Trifluoromethyl)propenoic acid,PAA‐TFPA),on which an organic–inorganic hybrid(PAA‐Zn/ZnF2)solid electrolyte interface(SEI)with excellent ionic conductivity is formed by interacting with Zn2+.Both the pouch cell and fiber zinc anode exhibit excellent plating/stripping reversibility after protecting by this organic–inorganic SEI,which can be stably cycled more than 3000 h in symmetric Zn||Zn cells or 550 h in fiber Zn||Zn cells.Additionally,this interface layer preserves zinc anode with excellent mechanical durability under various mechanical deformation(stably working for another 1200 h after bending 100 h).The corresponding PAA‐Zn/ZnF2@Zn||MnO2 full cell displays an ultra‐long life span(79%capacity retention after 3000 cycles)and mechanical robustness(85%of the initial capacity for another 3000 cycles after bending 100 times).More importantly,the as‐assembled cells can easily power smart wearable devices to monitor the user's health condition.

The Convention on Biological Diversity seeks to conserve at least 30%of global land and water areas by 2030,which is a challenge but also an opportunity to better preserve biodiversity,including flowering plants(angiosperms).Herein,we compiled a large database on distributions of over 300,000 angiosperm species and the key functional traits of 67,024 species.Using this database,we constructed biodiversity-environment models to predict global patterns of taxonomic,phylogenetic,and functional diversity in terrestrial angiosperms and provide a comprehensive mapping of the three diversity facets.We further evaluated the current protection status of the biodiversity centers of these diversity facets.Our results showed that geographical patterns of the three facets of plant diversity exhibited substantial spatial mismatches and nonoverlapping conservation priorities.Idiosyncratic centers of functional diversity,particularly of herbaceous species,were primarily distributed in temperate regions and under weaker protection compared with other biodiversity centers of taxonomic and phylogenetic facets.Our global assessment of multifaceted biodiversity patterns and centers highlights the insufficiency and unbalanced conservation among the three diversity facets and the two growth forms(woody vs.herbaceous),thus providing directions for guiding the future conservation of global plant diversity.

To the Editor:A 62-year-old woman presented to the dermatology department with a 5-month history of multiple painless cutaneous abscesses and ulcers[Figure 1A],occurring 1 month after a transvaginal hysterectomy due to uterine prolapse.Her general condition was good before and after the surgery,with no abnormal physical signs apart from metroptosis.She reported no fever,night sweat,cough,or abdominal pain,but 10 kg weight-loss.She has no history of diabetes,autoimmune diseases,or chronic infectious diseases.There was no similar illness in her family.

Aqueous rechargeable ammonium-ion batteries(AIBs)have drew considerable attention because of their capacity for high rates,low cost,and high safety.However,developing desired electrodes requiring stable structure in the aqueous fast ammoniation/de-ammoniation becomes urgent.Herein,an ammonium ion full battery using Cu_(3)[Fe(CN)_(6)]_(2)(CuHCF)acting to be a cathode and barium vanadate(BVO)acting to be an anode is described.Its excellent electrochemical behavior of Prussian blue analogs and the perfectly matched lattice structure of NH_(4)^(+)is expected.And the open structure of vanadium compounds satisfies the fast ammoniation/de-ammoniation of NH4+is also achieved.As a result of these synergistic effects,the BVO//CuHCF full cell retains 80.5 percent of its capacity following 1000 cycling.These achievements provide new ideas for developing low-cost and long-life AIBs.

Background and Originality Content Reduction of esters to corresponding alcohols is a fundamental transformation in organic chemistry.111 Conventionally,this transformation is realized by employing hydride sources or hydrogenation mediated by transition metal catalysts.12,31 The major demerit of metal hydride reduction Is the handling of the intrinsically unsafe pyrophoric and moisture sensitive chemical agents,especially at large scale.Moreover,quenching the excessive reactive metal hydrides during workup and the disposal of the effluent generated may pose additional cumbersome environmental bur-den.pal For transition metal mediated hydrogenation,usually harsh conditions with elevated reaction temperature accompanying with high pressure are mandatory.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether female sub-health conditions and reproductive diseases areassociated with pregnancies and labors.METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was performed by using a structured questionnaire. A total of 1343 women aged 35 years or younger in six urban areas of Chengdu were included in the study.According to the Screening Criteria of sub-health conditions, these women were categorized into three groups: postpartum healthy group,sub-healthy group, and reproductive disease group. Data were double-entered using EpiData and the nanalyzed by SPSS.RESULTS: Pregnancy and labor were correlated with postpartum sub-health conditions. The number of pregnancies was negatively correlated with women's postnatal health but was positively correlated with the incidence of postpartum reproductive diseases.CONCLUSION: The number of pregnancies and labors is probably an important factor leading to sub-health conditions and the occurrence of reproductive diseases in women. Avoiding or reducing unwanted pregnancies and labors, enhancing the awareness of health among child bearing-age women are effective measures for preventing sub-health conditions.

目的总结3例先天性前臂尺侧指深屈肌挛缩患者临床特点及诊治经验,为临床提供参考。方法2019年2月—2021年8月,收治3例先天性前臂尺侧指深屈肌挛缩患者。男2例,女1例;年龄分别为16、20、16岁。病程8、20、15年,均表现为腕关节中立位或腕伸位时,中、环、小指近侧指间关节和远侧指间关节屈曲畸形,且腕伸位时畸形加重;手总主动活动度(total action motion,TAM)评分均为1分、分级为差,Carroll手功能评定法评分为48、55、57分,握力指数为72.8、78.4、30.5。术前例2 CT检查示指深屈肌腱在尺骨近端止点处有骨性突起;例3前臂MRI检查示尺侧指深屈肌呈均一条索带状结构。确诊后均择期行手术松解变性肌腱治疗,术后早期开始功能锻炼。结果术后切口均Ⅰ期愈合。3例患者均获随访,例1~3随访时间分别为12、35、12个月。患者手部整体功能以及患指关节活动明显提高,但握力无明显提升。末次随访时,TAM评分分别为3、4、4分,其中优2例、良1例;Carroll手功能评定法评分为95、90、94分,握力指数分别为73.5、81.3、34.2。结论先天性指深屈肌挛缩是临床罕见疾病,应与缺血性肌挛缩相鉴别,明确挛缩部位并选择合适手术时机进行手术松解,术后积极康复功能锻炼,可获得良好手功能。

Construction of highly stable selenium nanoparticles embedded in hollow nanofibers of polysaccharide and their antitumor activities

Nanotechnologies have been exploited to develop safe and effective medicines and pharmaceuticals.In the present study,a novel functional nanomedicine constructed from a bioactive polysaccharide and selenium nanoparficles （SeNPs） was developed.A highly-branched [3-（1→3）-D-glucan （AF1） with high anti-tumor activity was used to self-assemble hollow nanofibers with an apparent average diameter of 92 nm;Se nanopartides were synthesized via the reduction of sodium selenite.The results of light scattering,transmission electron microscopy,and X-ray diffraction demonstrated that the spherical SeNPs with a mean diameter of 46 nm were entrapped in the cavities of the AF1 hollow nanofibers through the formation of Se-O bonds between SeNPs and AF1,leading to the good dispersion and high stability in water for over 16 months.In vitro and in vivo assays indicated that the AF1-Se nanocomposite had higher anti-tumor activities against breast cancer.Furthermore,AF1-Se displayed a broad-spectrum inhibition against human cancers with low half maximal inhibitory concentration （IC50） values and low toxicity to normal cells.Particularly,the inhibition ratio of AF1-Se against MCF-7 cancer cells reached 75% at a concentration of 200 μg.mL-1 with 29 μM Se content,much higher than that by treatment with AF1 alone,suggesting a strong synergic effect and nano impact.Overall,we developed a method for increasing the stability,anti-tumor activity,and safety of SeNPs by wrapping with bioactive polysaccharides.
