The effects of bisulfite-activated permanganate technology(PM/BS)as a pre-oxidation process on enhancing Microcystis aeruginosa(***)removal by post coagulation were *** results demonstrated that pretreatment with PM/BS process effectively promoted the algae removal by coagulation with Al2(SO4)3 as the coagulant and this phenomenon was more obvious with the increase of water *** to the sole coagulation,PM/BS pre-oxidation combing with coagulation could neutralize the zeta potential of algal cells effectively,decrease the algal cell size,and lead to the formation of more compact flocs due to the in-situ generated *** effect of oxidant dosages on algal organic matter(AOM)was also studied and no obvious release of macromolecular substances was observed with the dosage of KMn04 increasing from 3.0 mg/L to 7.0 mg/L,suggesting the integrity of algal cells at a high KMn04 ***,PM/BS pre-oxidation could lead to the decrease of most analyzed disinfection by-products(DBPs)at a Al2(SO4)3 dosage of 40.0 mg/*** algae removal efficiency was also significantly enhanced by PM/BS pre-oxidation in the test using real algae-laden *** study indicated that PM/BS process might be a potential assistant technology for algae removal by subsequent coagulation.

The Odorrana schmackeri sensu la to is a group of cascade frogs that are widely distributed in southern ***,their taxonomy has long been unresolved and several cryptic species have been reported in the past *** analyses revealed the existence of three sympatrie species(i.c,***,*** and ***2) at the type locality of ***(Gaojiayan Town,Yichang City,Hubei Province,China).However,the lack of an original description for the holotype specimen(SMF6241) of *** poses a confusing and controversial problem in species nomination within this ***,we reevaluate the taxonomic affinities of SMF6241 and examine the distinctness of ***2 based on specimens from the type *** use integrative approaches that combine morphology with 10 microsatellite loci and *** discriminant analysis of morphological characteristics revealed three distinct groupings(i.e.,***,*** and ***2) and attributed SMF6241 to *** clustering analysis of nuclear DNA also identified three corresponding *** addition,analysis of interspecific variation in morphometrics and acoustics showed divergence between ***2 and its sympatric *** lines of evidence from morphological,molecular and bioacoustic approaches suggest the species status of ***2,namely Odorrana ichangensis Chen,***,this study resolves the taxonomic assignment of the holotype of *** and provides an example for species delimitation using integrative approaches.

Cytidine 5'-monophosphate(5'-CMP)is an essential nucleotide for *** this study,enhanced production of 5'-CMP was realized by the transformation of cytidine using co-immobilized di-enzymes,uridine-cytidine kinase(UCK)and acetate kinase(AcK).The immobilization yield of the enzyme had a clear correlation with the surface charges as zeta potential(ξ).Among them,ε-polylysinefunctionalized sepharose(SA-EPL,ξ=9.31 m V)showed high immobilization yield(78.8%),which was4.9-fold than that of nitrilotriacetic acid functionalized sepharose(SA-NTA,ξ=-12.6 m V).The residual activity of affinity co-immobilized enzyme(EPL-Ni/EPL@Ac K-UCK)was higher than 70.6%after recycled 10 ***,this study provides an effective approach for the production of 5'-CMP with the advantages of low adenosine 5'-triphosphate(ATP)consumption,reduced side reactions,and improved reusability by co-immobilized UCK and Ac K on the functionalized Sepharose.

Acute toxicity assessment of drinking water source with luminescent bacteria: Impact of environmental conditions and a case study in Luoma Lake, East China

Protecting the quality of lake watersheds by preventing and reducing their contamination is an effective approach to ensure the sustainability of the drinking water *** this study,acute toxicity assessment was conducted on the basis of acute bioluminescence inhibition assay using the marine bacterium Vibrio fischeri as the test organism and Luoma Lake drinking water source in East China as the research *** suitable ranges of environmental factors,including pH value,organic matter,turbidity,hardness,and dissolved oxygen of water samples were evaluated for the toxicity testing of bioluminescent *** physicochemical characteristics of water samples at the selected 43 sites of Luoma Lake watershed were *** showed that the variations in pH value(7.31-8.41),hardness(5-20°d)and dissolved oxygen(4.44-11.03 mg/L)of Luoma Lake and its main inflow and outflow rivers had negligible impacts on the acute toxicity testing of *** luminescence inhibition rates ranged from-11.21%to 10.80%at the 43 ***'s correlation analysis in the experiment revealed that temperature,pH value,hardness,and turbidity had no correlation with luminescence inhibition rate,whereas dissolved oxygen showed a weak statistically positive correlation with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.455(p<0.05).

The adsorption behaviors of Cr(VI) on laterite from Guizhou Province were studied in this paper, and the adsorption mechanism was discussed as well. Results showed that different mineral compositions in the laterite would cause differences in the capacity of laterite to absorb Cr(VI). Gibbsite, iron oxide minerals and non-crystalloids are the main contributors to enhancing the capacity of laterite to absorb Cr(VI). The pH of the solution is an important factor affecting the adsorption of Cr(VI) on laterite. Acidic environment (pH=2-5) is favorable to the adsorption of Cr(VI). The amount of adsorbed Cr(VI) decreases with increasing pH of the solution. With increasing initial concentrations of Cr(VI), the amount of adsorbed Cr(VI) increases first, and then decreases. The optimal adsorption concentration of Cr(VI) on laterite is 250 μg/mL. The adsorption of Cr(VI) on laterite is a rapid process, about 80% Cr(VI) will be adsorbed within 2 hours. And the adsorption of Cr(VI) on kaolinite is a slow process.

The influence of tetracycline（TC） antibiotics on phosphine（PH3） production in the anaerobic wastewater treatment was studied. A lab-scale anaerobic baffled reactor with three compartments was employed to simulate this process. The reactor was operated in a TC-absence wastewater and 250 μg/L TC-presence wastewater for three months after a start-up period,respectively. The responses of p H, oxidation–reduction potential（ORP）, chemical oxygen demand（COD）, total phosphorus（TP）, enzymes activity（dehydrogenase and acid phosphatase）,and microbial community were investigated to reveal the effect of TC on PH3 *** suggested that the dehydrogenase（DH） activity, acid phosphatase（ACP） activity and COD have positive relationship with PH3 production, while p H, ORP level and the TP in liquid phase have negative relationship with PH3 production. With prolonged TC exposure, decrease in p H and increase in DH activity are beneficial to PH3 production, while decrease in COD and ACP activity are not the limiting factors for PH3 production.

A disposable cobalt-based phosphate sensor based on screen printing technology

Screen printing is a promising technology because of its simplicity, low-cost, high reproducibility, and efficiency in large-scale production. In this work, a cobalt-based phosphate sensor was successfully fabricated using the screen printing technology for the determination of phosphate concentration in the aqueous solution. The disposable sensor consists of a fully integrated cobalt （Co） electrode, which is a layer of carbon conductive ink （C） physically doped with Co powder, and Ag/AgCI reference electrode. The SEM images show that the morphology of the Co electrode changes after exposure to the phosphate solution, indicating that the expendable reaction exists during the measurement. At the Co/C ratio of 1：99, the cobalt-based phosphate sensor shows phosphate-selective potential response in the range of 10-4 to 10-1 mol/L, yielding a detection limit of lxl0-5 mol/L and a slope of over 30 mV/decade in acidic solution （pH 4.5） for HzPO4-. The proposed screen-printed sensor also ex- hibited significant reproducibility with a small repeated sensing deviation （i.e., relative standard deviation （R.S.D.） of 0.5%） on a single sensor and a small electrode-to-electrode deviation （i.e., R.S.D. 〈 3.2%）. The recovery study of HzPO4- in real wastewater samples gave values from 95.4% to 101.8%, confirming its application potential in the measurement of phosphate in real samples. Apart from its high selectivity, sensitivity, and stability comparable with a conventional bulk Co-wire electrode, the proposed phosphate sensor still yields many other advantages, such as low price, compactness, ease of use, and the possibility of integration with other analytical devices such as flow injection analysis.

The formation of hydrogen sulfide in biofilms and sediments in sewer systems can cause severe pipe corrosions and health hazards, and requires expensive programs for its prevention. The aim of this study is to propose a new control strategy and the optimal condition for sulfide elimination by intermittent nitrate dosing in sewer sediments. The study was carried out based on lab-scale experiments and batch tests using real sewer sediments. The intermittent nitrate dosing mode and the optimal control condition were investigated. The results indicated that the sulfide-intermittent-elimination strategy by nitrate dosing is advantageous for controlling sulfide accumulation in sewer sediment. The oxidation–reduction potential is a sensitive indicator parameter that can reflect the control effect and the minimum N/S（nitrate/sulfide）ratio with slight excess nitrate is necessary for optimal conditions of efficient sulfide control with lower carbon source loss. The optimal control condition is feasible for the sulfide elimination in sewer systems.
