Based on the total-factor energy efficiency framework,this paper calculates China's industrial energy efficiency and CO2 emissions reduction potential from 2000 to 2009 by utilizing the directional distance function and data envelopment *** empirical results show that:China's industrial overall energy efficiency is relatively lower while the emis-sions reduction potential is relatively greater,given the optimum production *** indus-trial disparities of energy efficiency and emissions reduction potential *** efficiency and emis-sions reduction potential significantly show different tendencies of industrial dynamic *** paper suggests the Chinese government impose differential carbon taxes,flexibly utilize carbon market mecha-nism,strengthen energy-saving technological R&D,promote the utilization of renewable energy,and strengthen environmental supervision and regulation,so as to improve China's industrial energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

The adsorption behaviors of Cr(VI) on laterite from Guizhou Province were studied in this paper, and the adsorption mechanism was discussed as well. Results showed that different mineral compositions in the laterite would cause differences in the capacity of laterite to absorb Cr(VI). Gibbsite, iron oxide minerals and non-crystalloids are the main contributors to enhancing the capacity of laterite to absorb Cr(VI). The pH of the solution is an important factor affecting the adsorption of Cr(VI) on laterite. Acidic environment (pH=2-5) is favorable to the adsorption of Cr(VI). The amount of adsorbed Cr(VI) decreases with increasing pH of the solution. With increasing initial concentrations of Cr(VI), the amount of adsorbed Cr(VI) increases first, and then decreases. The optimal adsorption concentration of Cr(VI) on laterite is 250 μg/mL. The adsorption of Cr(VI) on laterite is a rapid process, about 80% Cr(VI) will be adsorbed within 2 hours. And the adsorption of Cr(VI) on kaolinite is a slow process.

Carbon emissions of China's industrial sectors based on input-output analysis

This study uses an input-output model presenting the embodied carbon emission in the importexport procedure, as well as the responsibility allocation between China's 35 sectors and 7 main trade partners from 1995 to 2011. Results indicate that the amount of carbon emissions in China's industrial sectors is immense and that the industrial sectors are in serious imbalance. Such imbalance exists mainly in textiles, basic and fabricated metal, electrical and optical equipment,and machinery, among others. Based on the consumer-responsibility principle, the responsibility of 29 departments is reduced. Correspondingly, foreign sectors become more ***, as China's largest trading partner, should account for most of the total responsibility,followed by developed countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Germany.

Fifty-seven shallow groundwater samples were collected from Guiyang karst basin, China, to analyze the aqueous rare-earth elements in low-water seasons and it is shown that the total amount of rare-earth elements (ΣREE) in karst groundwater is exceedingly low compared with that in carbonate rocks or weathering crusts of carbonate rocks, and ranges from 0.01 to 0.43, from 0.03 to 0.27, from 0.03 to 0.19 and from 0.05 to 1.38 μg·L-1 for dolomite, dolomitic & limestone, limestone and clastic rock aquifer, respectively. Both distributions and contents of rare-earth elements (REE) in karst groundwater reflect the lithology of host rocks or weathering crusts of carbonate rocks through which groundwater flows. The chondrite-normalized patterns show a non-flat profile with higher enrichment of slightly light rare-earth elements (LREE) than heavy rare-earth elements (HREE), prominent fractionation between LREE and HREE, negative Ce anomalies and negative or positive Eu anomalies. There is more obvious fractionation between LREE and HREE in groundwater than that in carbonate rocks and their weathering crusts due to high contents of HCO3? and PH in groundwater. In shallow karst groundwater, REE(CO3)n2n-3 (n=1 and 2) is the main inorganic species of REE. But for a clastic rock aquifer, both REESO4+ and REECO3+ are the main inorganic species of REE. Species of REE in groundwater is closely associated with the hydrochemical type of groundwater which is predominated by the lithology of host rocks, groundwater-rock interaction and weathering-pedogenesis of carbonate rocks.

Optimizing functional layer of cation exchange membrane by three-dimensional cross-linking quaternization for enhancing monovalent selectivity

Monovalent cation perm-selective membrane(MCPMs)allow fast and selective transport of monovalent cations,and they are promisingly required for extraction of special ions,such as lithium extraction,acid recovery and sea salt ***,we report a novel strategy to design the critical functional layers of MCPMs with both space charge repulsion and cross-linked dense *** in-situ depo-sition polymerization of pyrrole was carried out on the surface of sulfonated polyphenyl sulfone(SPPSU)substrate membrane followed by cross-linking quaternization of the polypyrrole(PPy)layer with diiodi-nated functional molecules,thus,the membrane obtained more excellent selective permeability and sta-ble transport properties of monovalent *** confirms that the designed PPy layers with charged sur-face and cross-linking structure improved the hydrophilicity,facilitated cation transport and increased ion ***,for the dense PPy layer,the charged cross-linked structure endowed the functional layer with the synergistic characteristics of Donnan exclusion and pore size sieving for positively charged ions,which improved the monovalent cation perm-selectivity of the *** a constant current density of 5.1 mA/cm^(2),the optimal membrane exhibited superior perm-selectivity(P^(Na)_(Mg)=2.07)and monovalent cation flux(J_(Na+)=2.80×10^(−8)mol cm^(−2)s^(−1))during electrodialysis.

Somatic stem cells are essential for the maintenance of tissue homeostasis. Despite its importance, how the esophageal stratified squamous epithelium executes its self-renewal and maintenance remains elusive. In this study, using 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine label-chase in rats in vivo and rat esophageal organoids in vitro together with genome-wide DNA methylation and single-cell RNA sequencing, we identified a slow-cycling/quiescent stem cell population that contained high levels of hemidesmosomes (HDs) and low levels of Wnt signaling localized spatially and randomly at the basal layer of the esophageal epithelium. Pseudotime cell trajectory analysis indicated that tissue cells originated from quiescent basal stem cells in the basal layer. Perturbations of HD component expression and/or Wnt signaling reduced the stem cell population in the basal layer of esophageal keratinocyte organoids, resulting in alterations in the organoid formation rate, size, morphogenesis, and proliferation–differentiation homeostasis. Furthermore, not only high levels of HDs and low levels of Wnt signaling but also an interplay between HD and Wnt signaling defined the stem cells of the basal layer. Hence, HDs and Wnt signaling are critical determinants for defining the stem cells of the basal layer required for tissue homeostasis in mammalian esophagi.

In order to analyze the factors influencing carbon emissions in the region of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and to explore the pathways to developing a low-carbon economy,this paper begins with the terminal energy consumption of three industries and residential consumption,and constructs an identical equation which is composed of population size,level of economic development,energy intensity,the proportion of energy consumption,energy structure,and the coefficient of carbon *** on the data of terminal energy consumption during 2000-2012,various factors are analyzed and their contribution is measured by Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index(LMDI).The results show that the levels of population and economy have a positive driving effect while energy intensity,energy structure,and carbon intensity have a negative driving effect;the proportion of energy consumption had a negative driving effect prior to 2006,then changed to *** suggestions for a low-carbon economy are controlling population size,improving the quality of economic development,supporting research into new energy technology,accelerating regional integration and optimizing industrial structure,and enhancing environmental protection and spreading the concept of a low-carbon economy.

An Empirical Research on the Evolution Model of Competitiveness Between Different Life Cycle Stages in Chinese Enterprises

The characteristic of enterprise competitiveness is different between different life cycle stages. In this paper we surveyed the enterprise competitiveness＇s differences in various stages of the life cycle and the evolution model of three aspects of enterprise com- petitiveness as resource, capability and dynamic capability by questionnaire survey. The result shows that there are significant differences between different life cycle stages of en- terprise competitiveness in China. The enterprise competitiveness is stronger and stronger during the periods from the enterprise＇s birth to maturity, while in the enterprise＇s recession period the competitiveness becomes much weaker. The competitiveness＇s constitutive features in each stage are as follows： in the enterprise＇s born stage the enterprise is lack of resources and its competition mainly relies on the ability; in the enterprise＇s growth stage the enterprise＇s resources become richer and are as important as enterprise＇s ability in the constitution of enterprise competitiveness; in the maturity stage the enterprise＇s people, money and material resources all become very rich but the role of capability in enterprise competitiveness begins to decrease; in the enterprise＇s recession stage the en- terprise resources begin to exhaust, and the enterprise＇s competitiveness returns to rely on capability, and in this period the enterprise＇s learning ability, innovation ability and dynamic mechanisms perform worst, which will affect the enterprise＇s revival and lead to the ultimate death of enterprise. These conclusions have great value for reference to the enterprise＇s competitive strategy making for different life cycle stages.
