Priority effects of forbs arriving early:the role of root interaction and asymmetric competition

Background The priority effect of plant arrival is a key driver of community assembly and ecosystem succession during the restoration of degraded plant communities. However, the significance of the arrival order of different plant functional groups and their interactions with community assemblies remains unclear. Using a phytotron experiment with three fully crossed factors, we investigated the underlying mechanisms of priority effects and their relationships with the biomass and biodiversity effects in mixed plant communities by manipulating the order of arrival of species, isolation of roots, and removal of specific *** The results showed that the strength and direction of priority effects were influenced by arrival order, root interactions, asymmetric competition among species, and their interactions. The identities of early and late-sown species also determined the magnitude of priority effects. The priority effects were stronger in grass-first(24.76%) and legume-first communities(24.48%) than in forb-first communities. The pot biomass of the different priority treatments was highest in grass-first(5.85 g), followed by legume-first(3.94 g) and forb-first(2.48 g). The order of arrival in the mixture significantly affected the net biodiversity effects(P 1., which were driven by dominance effects. The community had lower overall biomass when forbs were sown first, whereas the species grown later had fewer costs with an increased overall net benefit for the resulting *** Our results emphasize that root interactions and asymmetric competition are vital determinants of order-specific priority effects in community assemblies. Influence of ground effect on flow field structure and aerodynamic noise of high-speed trains

The simulation of the ground effect has always been a technical difficulty in wind tunnel tests of high-speed *** this paper,large eddy simulation and the curl acoustic integral equation were used to simulate the flow-acoustic field results of high-speed trains under four ground simulation systems(GSSs):“moving ground+rotating wheel”,“stationary ground+rotating wheel”,“moving ground+stationary wheel”,and“stationary ground+stationary wheel”.By comparing the fluid-acoustic field results of the four GSSs,the influence laws of different GSSs on the flow field structure,aero-acoustic source,and far-field radiation noise characteristics were investigated,providing guidance for the acoustic wind tunnel testing of high-speed *** calculation results of the aerodynamic noise of a 350 km/h high-speed train show that the moving ground and rotating wheel affect mainly the aero-acoustic performance under the train *** influence of the rotating wheel on the equivalent sound source power of the whole vehicle was not more than 5%,but that of the moving ground slip was more than 1.%.The average influence of the rotating wheel on the sound pressure level radiated by the whole vehicle was 0.3 dBA,while that of the moving ground was 1.8 dBA.

Design and Control of an Autonomous Bat-like Perching UAV

Perching allows small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)to maintain their altitude while significantly extending their flight duration and reducing ***,current research on flying habitats is poorly adapted to unstructured environments,and lacks autonomous capabilities,requiring ideal experimental environments and remote control by *** solve these problems,in this paper,we propose a bat-like UAV perching mechanism by investigating the bat upside-down perching method,which realizes double self-locking in the perching state using the ratchet and four-link dead point *** on this perching mechanism,this study proposes a control strategy for UAVs to track targets and accomplish flight perching autonomously by combining a binocular camera,single-point LiDAR,and pressure *** perching experiments were conducted for crossbar-type objects *** experimental results show that a multirotor UAV equipped with the perching mechanism and sensors can reliably achieve autonomous flight perching and re-flying off the target *** power consumption is reduced to 2.9%of the hovering state when perched on the target object.

Fault-tolerant identity-based encryption from SM9

This paper initiates the formal study of attribute-based encryption within the framework of SM9,the Chinese National Cryptography Standard for Identity-Based Cryptography, by presenting two new faulttolerant identity-based encryption(FIBE) schemes. Our first scheme uses the same private-key/ciphertext structure as the original SM9 algorithm and operates in a small attribute universe. As a result, it can be effectively and smoothly integrated into the information systems using SM9. In the random oracle model,we prove that our scheme is ciphertext-indistinguishable against fuzzy selective-identity and chosen-plaintext attacks under the(k + 3)-DBDHI assumption. Our second design is a large universe FIBE scheme based on SM9 that is ciphertext-indistinguishable against chosen-plaintext attacks in the random oracle model under the(f, g)-GDDHE assumption. Finally, we compare the communication and computing costs of our schemes to those of other classical ones. The comparison shows that our schemes have comparable performance as others. We believe that our findings will accelerate the applications of SM9 in modern information systems such as cloud computing and blockchain.

Synergistic silver-mediated and palladium-catalyzed nondirected olefination of aryl C–H bond: quick access to multi-substituted aryl olefins

Transition metal-catalyzed olefination of aryl C-H bond is a powerful tool for the synthesis of alkenes. While the Pd-catalyzed oxidative C-H olefination of arenes, also known as Fujiwara-Moritani reaction, has been established as one of the most efficient methods, the substrates are largely limited to terminal olefins with electron-withdrawing group(s). Herein, we report a synergistic silver-mediated and palladium-catalyzed non-directed C-H olefination of arenes with vinyl(pseudo)halides, which offers a complementary strategy to the typical Fujiwara-Moritani reaction. The reactions proceeded well for a variety of halogenated arenes, heteroarenes, and olefin substrates, providing an efficient access to various multi-substituted aryl olefins, including trisubstituted/tetrasubstituted olefins and several complex olefins derived from medicines or natural products. Mechanistic studies indicated a bimetallic Pd/Ag cooperation is operative in the catalysis, i.e., the reaction is initiated by aryl C-H bond cleavage via ligation with phosphine/Ag species, followed by transferring of the aryl moiety to a vinyl palladium intermediate,which is in turn formed by oxidative addition of vinyl(pseudo)halide to a Pd complex. This method enables the synthesis of a wide range of challenging multi-substituted vinyl products from simple arenes(directing-group free) in a streamlined and controllable fashion.

Stability of water yield in watersheds

The hydrological system of a watershed is intricately influenced by both underlying characteristics and climate *** the variability in water yield is essential for effective water resources management and water security in the context of changing *** this study,we adopted the Budyko framework and leveraged simulations from the CMIP6 model to investigate the compensation effects of climate and underlying characteristics on watershed water *** on Taylor expansion and Budyko framework,we estimated the sensitivity of watershed water yield to climate and underlying characteristics(the first-and second-order partial derivatives).By combining external watershed characteristics(e.g.,water yield ratios and underlying characteristics)with internal sensitivity coefficients,this study further used vine copula and principal component analysis to quantify the stability of watershed water *** findings show:(1.Water-yield changes related to underlying characteristics could be offset by climate-related water-yield changes across all climate zones,maintaining the water yield ratio steady(i.e.,the compensation effects).(2)However,global watersheds will turn more sensitive to underlying characteristics and less sensitive to climate variation in the *** climate-and underlying-related sensitivities increase in watersheds with arid climates.(3)The stability of watershed water yield will gradually diminish in the *** 1.01.1.50to 2051.21.0,the global stability of 280 watersheds drops from 0.054 to 0.021.i.e.,stability index identified by the joint probability).Particularly,the largest change in stability of water yield reaches-0.347±0.1. in arid *** semi-arid,semihumid,and humid regions,the changes are-0.039±0.01.,-0.028±0.005,and-0.005±0.002,*** findings provide a reference for the future sustainable water resources development under climate change,highlighting the vulnerability of the water resources in ari

Diagnosis of the Kinetic Energy of the“21.7”Extreme Torrential Rainfall Event in Henan Province,China

An extreme torrential rain(ETR)event occurred in Henan Province,China,during 1.-21.July *** on hourly rain-gauge observations and ERA5 reanalysis data,the ETR was studied from the perspective of kinetic energy(K),which can be divided into rotational wind(V_(R))kinetic energy(K_(R)),divergent wind kinetic energy(K_(D)),and the kinetic energy of the interaction between the divergent and rotational winds(K_(RD)).According to the hourly precipitation intensity variability,the ETR process was divided into an initial stage,a rapid increase stage,and maintenance *** showed that the intensification and maintenance of ETR were closely related to the upper-level K,and most closely related to the upperlevel K_(R),with a correlation coefficient of up to *** particular,the peak value of hourly rainfall intensity lagged behind the K_(R) by 8 ***,diagnosis showed that K transformation from unresolvable to resolvable scales made the ETR increase *** meridional rotational wind(u_(R))and meridional gradient of the geopotential(φ)jointly determined the conversion of available potential energy(APE)to K_(R) through the barotropic process,which dominated the rapid enhancement of K_(R) and then caused the rapid increase in *** transportation of K by rotational wind consumed K_(R),and basically offset the K_(R) produced by the barotropic process,which basically kept K_(R) stable at a high value,thus maintaining the ETR.

Comparative Study of Genetic Structure and Genetic Diversity betweenWild and Cultivated Populations of Taxus cuspidata,Northeast China

Taxus cuspidata is a rare plant with important medicinal and ornamental *** at the obvious differences between wild and cultivated populations of *** from Northeast China,a total of 61.samples,that is,33 wild yews and 28 cultivated yews were used to analyze the differences and correlations of the kinship,genetic diversity,and genetic structure between them by specific length amplified fragment sequencing(SLAF-seq).Finally,470725 polymorphic SLAF tags and 58622 valid SNP markers were *** analysis showed that 61.samples were classified into 2 clusters:wild populations and cultivated populations,and some wild yews were categorized into the cultivated populations;the genetic diversity analysis showed that the Nei diversity index of wild populations(0.4068)was smaller than that of cultivated populations(0.441.),and the polymorphic information content(PIC)of wild populations(0.2861.was smaller than that of cultivated populations(0.3309).The genetic differentiation analysis showed that the total populations of gene diversity(H_(t))of cultivated and wild populations were respectively 0.81.9 and 0.5685,the coefficient of gene differentiation(G_(st))of cultivated and wild populations was respectively 0.3021.and 0.1.68,and the gene flow(N_(m))(2.4967)of wild populations was larger than cultivated populations(0.81.9).The molecular variance(AMOVA)revealed that inter-population variation accounted for 29.57%of the total genetic variation,while intra-population variation accounted for 70.42% of the total genetic variation(p1.,this suggested that the genetic variation in the *** is mainly attributed to within-population *** conclusion,the genetic distance between geographical ecological groups of wild populations was generally smaller than that of cultivated populations,and the degree of genetic diversity and genetic differentiation was smaller than that of cultivated *** evident,the utilization of SLAF-seq technolog

Synergistic asymmetric diarylation of tethered alkenes via C–H functionalization of simple(hetero)arenes

By virtue of the atom-and step-economy, utilization of simple arenes as a supplant of pre-prepared aryl metal species or aryl halides for the synthesis of arylated chiral molecules has attracted great attention from the synthetic community. While transition-metal-catalyzed enantioselective diarylation of tethered alkenes has been employed to prepare important chiral cyclic compounds, the direct use of simple arenes as aryl precursors is still underdeveloped, probably due to the difficulties in the effective control of the reactivity, site-selectivity and/or enantioselectivity. Herein we report an asymmetric Pd/Ag dual metal catalytic system for the non-directed, site-and enantioselective domino Heck/intermolecular C–H functionalization of *** studies showed that Pd and Ag act in cooperation in the catalysis and the chiral bisphosphine ligand plays a bifunctional role, i.e., assisting the silver species in the cleavage of the aryl C–H bond, while inducing the enantioselectivity on direct complexation with palladium. This method provides an efficient approach to the corresponding chiral oxindoles with good enantiomeric excesses from a broad scope of arenes, including fluoroarenes, heteroarenes and several complex products derived from medicines or natural products.
