Formation mechanism of partial stacking faults by incompletemixed-mode phase transformation: A case study of Fe-Ga alloys

Partial stacking faults(PSFs) formed by incomplete mixed-mode phase transformation have been found to exhibit unfixed slip distance of closely-packed planes unlike those of the deformation-induced stacking faults(SFs) with fixed distance. Though engineering PSFs can yield appealing properties, such as the enhanced damping capacity, understanding of the interaction between lattice distortion and atomic diffusion and their influences on forming PSFs is still far from being clear. Herein we performed a case study on aged Fe-Ga alloy that undergoes a mixed-mode phase transformation from body-centered cubic(BCC)to ordered face-centered cubic(FCC). The TEM investigations showed that the faulted {111}-FCC distance of the PSFs is shorter than a/6 of the typical {111}- SFs in deformed FCC materials and the PSFs have disordered Fe and Ga arrangements. Further studies revealed that such PSFs will not be completely dissociated at FCC twin boundaries(TBs) even after long term isothermal aging. Consequently,the formation of PSFs can be ascribed to the transformation-dependent atomic ordering and lattice shear strain of the parent BCC lattice, where the diffusion-controlled glides of the PSFs-associated dislocations will accelerate atomic diffusions due to the dislocation-pipe effect along -FCC direction, but may hinder the atomic diffusions across the {111}-FCC TBs due to the retarding effect. This study may add important insight into the defects process during mixed-mode phase transformation and broaden the knowledge of the interaction between concurrently-happened lattice distortion and atomic diffusion.

The heterogeneous precipitation in the 2:17-type Sm-Co-Fe-Cu-Zr permanent magnets has been found to contain complex formation and dissociation of defects.Though low-temperature pre-aging has been utilized to promote the precipitate nucleation by the enlarged chemical driving force,how the defects evolve after pre-aging and how the possibly changed defects state affects the subsequent precipitation behavior remain unclear.In this work,a model magnet Sm25Co47.9Fe18.5Cu5.6Zr3.0(wt%)was selected to study.Through comparison with the as-solution-treated state,it is found that pre-aging for 2 h at 550℃reduces the defects density,which was characterized by less cell boundaries(i.e.,larger cell size)and less basal stacking faults inside the cells(i.e.,higher 2:17 R ordering degree).Further studies reveal that after aging for the same time(10 h)at the same temperature(830℃),the reduced density of defects by preaging also leads to slower precipitation/phase transformation kinetics when co mpared with the non-preaged one,which was characterized by the lower 2:17 R ordering degree and smaller coercivity for the former.These findings suggest that pre-aging has a strong influence on the density of defects and their evolution during subsequent isothermal aging process,which should be carefully considered to tailor the microstructure and magnetic properties of Sm-Co-Fe-Cu-Zr magnets.

Temperature-field history dependence of the elastocaloric effect for a strain glass alloy

The singular change of the order parameter at the first order martensitic transformation(MT)temperature restricts the caloric response to a narrow temperature range.Here the MT is tuned into a sluggish strain glass transition by defect doping and a large elastocaloric effect appears in a wide temperature range.Moreover,an inverse elastocaloric effect is observed in the strain glass alloy with history of zerofield cooling and is attributed to the slow dynamics of the nanodomains in response to the external stress.This study offers a design recipe to expand the temperature range for good elastocaloric effect.

Resolution of a discrepancy of magnetic mechanism for Elinvar anomaly in Fe-Ni based alloys

Fe-Ni based Elinvar alloys performing temperature-independent elastic modulus over a wide temperature range have found wide and significant applications. Although numerous models involved with magnetism have been proposed to explain the Elinvar anomaly, some of the puzzles concerning the anomaly have not been fully understood. In this work, a remarkable discrepancy between the inflection temperature of modulus and the Curie temperature in a typical Fe-Ni-Cr Elinvar alloy was found,challenging the magnetic mechanism for Elinvar anomaly. Microstructural characterization and dynamic mechanical analysis demonstrate the occurrence of a strain glass transition with continuous formation of nanodomains. Accompanying such a transition, the gradual softening in the elastic modulus of austenite offsets the modulus hardening due to the vibrational anharmonicity of nanodomains upon cooling, leading to the Elinvar effect. As a result, the inflection temperature of modulus corresponds to the initiation of nanodomains' formation instead of magnetic transition. Our findings specify the association of Elinvar anomaly with structural aspects, and provide new insights into the mechanism of Elinvar anomaly in Fe-Ni based alloy.

Ferroelectric materials are characterized by the spontaneous polarization switchable by the applied fields,which can act as a“gate”to control various properties of ferroelectric/insulator interfaces.Here we review the recent studies on the modulation of oxide hetero-/homo-interfaces by ferroelectric polarization.We discuss the potential applications of recently developed four-dimensional scanning transmission electron microscopy and how it can provide insights into the fundamental understanding of ferroelectric polarization-induced phenomena and stimulate future computational studies.Finally,we give the outlook for the potentials,the challenges,and the opportunities for the contribution of materials computation to future progress in the area.

The grain boundaries with sparse 1:5H precipitates of the 2:17-type Sm-Co-Fe-Cu-Zr permanent magnet have thought as the primary demagnetization sites,leading to poor squareness factor (SF) of the demagnetization curve and lower-than-ideal maximum energy product (BH).Here,we studied the grain boundary evolution of SmCoFeCuZr(x=19.5 and 23.5 wt.%)alloys at solution-treated state,short-term aged (0.5 h at 810℃),and the final magnet.At the grain boundary region of solution-treated state Fe-19.5 wt.%,the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) investigations reveal different phase mixtures of undecomposed 2:17H,partially ordered 2:17R,1:5H nano precipitates,and the SmCo (n=2,1:3R;n=3,2:7R;n=4,5:19R) phase mixture.The microstructure differences at the grain boundary and grain interior regions of the Fe-23.5 wt.%solution-treated state reveal that the grain boundary region contains a larger 2:17R nano variant,fewer stacking faults (SFs),and fewer defects-aggregated cell boundaries (DACBs) than the grain interior,accompanied with few 1:5H nano precipitates constrained at the grain boundaries.This indicates that the early decomposition occurs preferably at grain boundaries.However,after short-term aging of Fe-19.5 wt.%,further decomposition of2:17H occurs,characterized by the gradual ordering of 2:17R,the precipitation of the 1:5H phase,and the gradual growth of SmCo compounds.Due to the lack of defect-aggregated cell boundaries (DACBs) near the grain boundary,the 1:5H precipitates are constrained between the2:17R and the SmCo nano-sheets.When further aging the magnet,the grain boundary 1:5H precipitates may transform into SmCo compounds.As the SmCo compounds are magnetically softer than the 1:5H precipitates,the grain boundaries then act as the primary demagnetization sites.Our work may add important insights toward the understanding of the grain boundary effect of 2:17-type Sm-Co-Fe-Cu-Zr magnets.

Gastric cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-positive cases account for approximately 20% of the total cases. Currently, trastuzumab + chemotherapy is the recommended first-line treatment for patients with HER2-positive advanced gastric cancer, and the combination has exhibited definite efficacy in HER2-targeted therapy. However, the emergence of drug resistance during treatment considerably reduces its effectiveness; thus, it is imperative to investigate the potential mechanisms underlying resistance. In the present review article, we comprehensively introduce multiple mechanisms underlying resistance to trastuzumab in HER2-positive gastric cancer cases, aiming to provide insights for rectifying issues associated with resistance to trastuzumab and devising subsequent treatment strategies.

Different structure models of a long-period ordered phase in Fe-C martenstie formed during aging have been checked by computer simulation of electron diffraction(ED) patterns based on these models.The results showed that the simulated ED pattern of γ'-FexC(Ⅱ) model proposed by the present authors is in good agreement with experimentally observed ED pattern.It was also confirmed that the incommensurate superperiod stems from the coexistence of several γ'-Fe_xC(H) phases with different superperiods.The Fe(144)C(24)(Fe6C) model proposed by Uwakweh et al.generated ED patterns remarkably different from the experimental ones.

Retroperitoneal liposarcoma(RLPS)is the main subtype of retroperitoneal soft sarcoma(RSTS)and has a poor prognosis and few treatment options,except for surgery.The proteomic and metabolic profiles of RLPS have remained unclear.The aim of our study was to reveal the metabolic profile of RLPS.Here,we performed proteomic analysis(n=10),metabolomic analysis(n=51),and lipidomic analysis(n=50)of retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma(RDDLPS)and retroperitoneal well-differentiated liposarcoma(RWDLPS)tissue and paired adjacent adipose tissue obtained during surgery.Data analysis mainly revealed that glycolysis,purine metabolism,pyrimidine metabolism and phospholipid formation were upregulated in both RDDLPS and RWDLPS tissue compared with the adjacent adipose tissue,whereas the tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle,lipid absorption and synthesis,fatty acid degradation and biosynthesis,as well as glycine,serine,and threonine metabolism were downregulated.Of particular importance,the glycolytic inhibitor 2-deoxy-D-glucose and pentose phosphate pathway(PPP)inhibitor RRX-001 significantly promoted the antitumor effects of the MDM2 inhibitor RG7112 and CDK4 inhibitor abemaciclib.Our study not only describes the metabolic profiles of RDDLPS and RWDLPS,but also offers potential therapeutic targets and strategies for RLPS.

儿童肺炎支原体感染CD64指数与气道高反应性和机体变态反应的关系

目的观察儿童肺炎支原体感染CD64指数变化,并分析其与气道高反应性和机体变态反应的关系。方法选取2019年12月至2021年12月西安高新医院接收的140例肺炎支原体感染患儿为研究对象,依据患儿是否伴有气道高反应性和机体变态反应将其分为研究组(72例)和对照组(68例)。入院时采集患儿基线资料,比较实验室指标,重点比较CD64指数变化,并分析其与气道高反应性和机体变态反应的关系。结果单因素分析两组MP感染患儿发热时间、住院时间、抗生素使用起始时间、NLR、CD64指数、CRP、PCT、LDH、ESR、FeNO以及IL-6差异均有统计学意义(P0.05);Pearson相关分析表明CD64指数与FVC预计值、MEF25-75预计值、FMEF25预计值、MEF50预计值呈负相关;与血清IgE及Eos呈正相关(P<0.05);通过进一步研究发现患儿发热时间、抗生素使用起始时间、CRP、FeNO、IL-6以及CD64指数是MP感染患儿发生AHR和变态反应的独立危险因素(P均<0.05);ROC曲线分析显示,模型ROC曲线下面积为0.812,95%置信区间为0.742~0.873,灵敏度、特异度分别为0.804、0.759,表明该模型预测能力较强。结论肺炎支原体感染患儿CD64指数变化可能提示其发生气道高反应性和机体变态反应风险,可考虑早期通过监测肺炎支原体感染患儿CD64指数变化来评估其气道高反应性和机体变态反应程度,为临床诊断治疗提供理论依据。
