Development of a coupled model to simulate and assess arsenic contamination and impact factors in the Jinsha River Basin,China

With the increasing severity of arsenic(As)pollution,quantifying the environmental behavior of pollutant based on numerical model has become an important approach to determine the potential impacts and finalize the precise control *** the industrialintensive Jinsha River Basin as typical area,a two-dimensional hydrodynamic water quality model coupled with Soil andWater Assessment Tool(SWAT)model was developed to accurately simulate the watershed-scale distribution and transport of As in the terrestrial and aquatic environment at high spatial and temporal *** effects of hydro-climate change,hydropower station construction and non-point source emissions on Aswere quantified based on the coupled *** result indicated that higher As concentration areas mainly centralized in urban districts and concentration slowly decreased from upstream to *** to the enhanced rainfall,the As concentration was significantly higher during the rainy season than the dry ***-climate change and the construction of hydropower station not only affected the dissolved As concentration,but also affected the adsorption and desorption of As in ***,As concentration increased with the input of non-point source pollution,with the maximum increase about 30%,resulting that non-point sources contributed important pollutant impacts to *** coupled model used in pollutant behavior analysis is generalwith high potential application to predict and mitigate water pollution.

A series of heteronuclear yttrium-nickel monoxide carbonyl complexes YNiO（CO）_n-（n=1–5） were generated in a pulsed-laser vaporization source and characterized by mass-selected photoelectron velocity-map spectroscopy combined with theoretical *** ligand-mediated reactivity in CO oxidation of yttrium-nickel monoxide carbonyl complexes was experimentally and theoretically *** the consecutive CO adsorption,aμ2-O linear structure was most favorable for YNiO（CO）_n-（n=1,2）,then a structure in which the terminal O was bonded to the Y atom became favored for YNiO（CO）3-,and finally a structure bearing a CO2moiety was most favorable for YNiO（CO）_n-（n=4,5）.Theoretical calculations indicated that the Ni atom acted as an electron acceptor and accumulated electron density at n≤3,and then served as an electron donor along with the Y atom to contribute electron density in the rearrangement that accompanied CO oxidation at n>3.

Peptide-based therapies have attracted considerable interest in the treatment of cancer, diabetes, bacterial infections, and neurodegenerative diseases due to their promising therapeutic properties and enhanced safety profiles. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the major trends in peptide drug discovery and development, emphasizing preclinical strategies aimed at improving peptide stability, specificity, and pharmacokinetic properties. It assesses the current applications and challenges of peptide-based drugs in these diseases, illustrating the pharmaceutical areas where peptide-based drugs demonstrate significant potential. Furthermore, this review analyzes the obstacles that must be overcome in the future,aiming to provide valuable insights and references for the continued advancement of peptidebased drugs.

Solar flare forecasting based on a Fusion Model

Solar flare prediction is an important subject in the field of space *** learning technology has greatly promoted the development of this *** this study,we propose a novel solar flare forecasting model integrating Deep Residual Network(ResNet)and Support Vector Machine(SVM)for both≥C-class(C,M,and X classes)and≥M-class(M and X classes)*** collected samples of magnetograms from May 1,2010 to September 13,2018 from Space-weather Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager(HMI)Active Region Patches and then used a cross-validation method to obtain seven independent data *** then utilized five metrics to evaluate our fusion model,based on intermediate-output extracted by ResNet and SVM using the Gaussian kernel *** results show that the primary metric true skill statistics(TSS)achieves a value of 0.708±0.027 for≥C-class prediction,and of 0.758±0.042 for≥M-class prediction;these values indicate that our approach performs significantly better than those of previous *** metrics of our fusion model’s performance on the seven datasets indicate that the model is quite stable and robust,suggesting that fusion models that integrate an excellent baseline network with SVM can achieve improved performance in solar flare ***,we also discuss the performance impact of architectural innovation in our fusion model.

Palaeowind regime is an important component for reconstructing palaeoclimate and understanding ancient global *** applied the beach-ridge thickness technique(BTT)and the longshore-bar thickness technique(LTT)to reconstruct the Early Cretaceous palaeowind velocities based on depositional records of Tanan Depression in Northeast *** thickness of beach ridges and nearshore bars is the most important parameter for applying the BTT and the LTT *** identified 22 beach ridges and 23 nearshore bars based on drilling cores and wireline-log data in the Tanan *** velocities calculated by using the LTT method ranged from 10.84 to 13.66 m/s,showing a narrower range than those calculated by using the BTT method(7.58–15.93 m/s).We further analyzed the underlying factors causing the difference between the results derived from these two methods based on the sedimentary process of the beach ridge and the nearshore *** reconstructed wind regime was assumed to be the summer monsoon originating from the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean before it had been completely enclosed,which provides valuable insight into the understanding of the atmospheric circulation in Northeast Asia during the Early Cretaceous.

Optimizing hardware-software co-design based on non-ideality in memristor crossbars for in-memory computing

The memristor crossbar, with its exceptionally high storage density and parallelism, enables efficient vector matrix multiplication(VMM), significantly improving data throughput and computational efficiency. However, its analog computing is vulnerable to issues like IR-drop, device-to-device(D2D) variation, and stuck-at-fault(SAF), leading to a substantial decrease in the inference accuracy of neural networks deployed on crossbars. This work presents a hardware-software co-design approach tailored to deal with memristor crossbar non-ideality. We introduce an end-to-end functional array simulator(FAST) for precise and ultra fast end-to-end training, mapping, and evaluation of neural networks on the memristor crossbar. Utilizing the sparsity of the memristor crossbar coefficient matrix, it achieves simulation with low storage and computational resource requirements,dynamically selecting the optimal solution to complete the process. It can also precisely simulate the impact of non-ideal effects such as IR-drop, retention, variation, SAF, and AD/DA precision. Using FAST, we assess memristor crossbar matrix operations under non-ideal conditions, identifying the max throughput and the most energy-efficient crossbar configurations. Additionally,we propose a comparator-based activation function modulation(CAFM) scheme and its corresponding hardware architecture with programmable activation function circuits to address the IR-drop issue, enabling low power and area overheads, resulting in the recovery of neural network accuracy by 54% or more. This is validated within FAST, demonstrating the success of our hardware-software optimization co-design.

Researchers have recently achieved significant advances in deep learning techniques, which in turn has substantially advanced other research disciplines, such as natural language processing, image processing, speech recognition, and software engineering. Various deep learning techniques have been successfully employed to facilitate software engineering tasks, including code generation, software refactoring, and fault localization. Many studies have also been presented in top conferences and journals, demonstrating the applications of deep learning techniques in resolving various software engineering tasks. However,although several surveys have provided overall pictures of the application of deep learning techniques in software engineering,they focus more on learning techniques, that is, what kind of deep learning techniques are employed and how deep models are trained or fine-tuned for software engineering tasks. We still lack surveys explaining the advances of subareas in software engineering driven by deep learning techniques, as well as challenges and opportunities in each subarea. To this end, in this study, we present the first task-oriented survey on deep learning-based software engineering. It covers twelve major software engineering subareas significantly impacted by deep learning techniques. Such subareas spread out through the whole lifecycle of software development and maintenance, including requirements engineering, software development, testing, maintenance, and developer collaboration. As we believe that deep learning may provide an opportunity to revolutionize the whole discipline of software engineering, providing one survey covering as many subareas as possible in software engineering can help future research push forward the frontier of deep learning-based software engineering more systematically. Origami-based reconfigurable metasurfaces have emerged as a versatile paradigm for dynamically manipulating electromagnetic(EM) waves due to their advantages, such as low manufacturing cost, lightweight, and structural deformability. Three-dimensional(3D) deformation can intensify asymmetry among structures, making origami metasurfaces particularly suitable for realizing reconfigurable chiral responses. However, previous studies have primarily focused on modulating spectral properties,such as chiral switching and resonant frequency shifting. There remains ample room for further exploration in complex wavefront manipulation and holographic imaging applications. This paper proposes a simple and efficient deformation method for origami metasurfaces that transforms a spin-insensitive planar metasurface into a 3D metasurface by folding. The breaking of mirror symmetry induces a pronounced chiral response. The binary amplitude is modulated within each pixel. When folded at angles of +θ and-θ, the designed origami metasurface generates distinct images under left-handed circularly polarized(LCP)wave incidence. Meanwhile, holographic encryption is achieved under right-handed circularly polarized(RCP) wave ***, by leveraging origami's reconfigurability, the holographic imaging's operating frequency can be shifted. The experimental results agree well with the numerical calculations and full-wave simulations, demonstrating the broad application potential of this method in areas such as multi-channel imaging, information encryption technologies, and stealth.
