The general public’s ability to operate automated external defi brillator: A controlled simulation study

BACKGROUND:Automated external defibrillators(AEDs)enable laypeople to provide early defi brillations to patients undergoing cardiac arrest,but scant information is available on the general public’s ability to use *** study assessed the ability of laypeople to operate AEDs,the effect of a 15-minute training,and whether skills differed by ***:From May 1 to December 31,2018,a prospective simulation study was conducted with 94 laypeople aged 18–65 years(32 aged 18–24 years,34 aged 25–54 years,and 28 aged 55–65 years)with no prior AED *** participants’AED skills were assessed individually pretraining,post-training,and at a three-month follow-up using a simulated cardiac arrest *** critical actions and time intervals were evaluated during the AED operating ***:Only 14(14.9%)participants(eight aged 18–24 years,four aged 25–54 years,and two aged 55–65 years)successfully delivered defi brillations before *** operation errors were more likely to occur among the participants aged 55–65 years than among other age *** training,the proportion of successful defi brillations increased signifi cantly(18–24 years old:25.0%vs.71.9%,P<0.01;25–54 years old:11.8%vs.70.6%,P<0.01;55–65 years old:7.1%vs.67.9%,P<0.01).After three months,26.1%of the participants aged 55–65 years successfully delivered defi brillations,which was signifi cantly lower than that of participants aged 18–24 years(54.8%)and 25–54 years(64.3%)(P=0.02).There were no differences in time measures among three age groups in each ***:The majority of untrained laypeople cannot effectively operate *** frequent training and refresher courses are crucial to improve AED skills.

Experimental and numerical investigation of the impacts of rotor tip-rake on excitation forces of pump-jet propulsors

The tip-clearance flow in a pump-jet propulsor exerts great impacts on the fluctuating pressures and resultant unsteady forces,which are important sources of structural vibrations and radiated noise *** blade geometry close to the tip is an important factor determining the vortex strength in the tip-clearance *** the open-water condition,the effects of raking the rotor tips on the duct-surface fluctuating pressures and the resultant unsteady forces acting on different components of the propulsor are investigated via physical model experiments and the numerical solution of Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)equations coupled with the SST k-ωturbulence *** measured and simulated results of hydrodynamic pressures are consistent to each other,and the simulated flows help better understand why the fluctuating pressures change with the tip *** strong fluctuations of duct-surface pressures are caused by intensive tip separation *** duct-surface pressure fluctuations are effectively reduced by using the rake distribution near the tip towards blade back side and,for the combination of the five-bladed rotor and the seven-bladed stator,the resultant unsteady horizontal(and vertical)forces acting on the duct and stator are also reduced;while increasing rake leads to negative effect on pressure fluctuations and unsteady horizontal(and vertical)forces acting on all the components of the propulsor.

Boosting oxygen vacancies by modulating the morphology of Au decorated In_(2)O_(3)with enhanced CO_(2)hydrogenation activity to CH_(3)OH

CO_(2)hydrogenation to methanol has become one of the most promising ways for CO_(2)utilization,however,the CO_(2)conversion rate and methanol selectivity of this reaction still need to be improved for industrial *** we investigated the structure-activity relationship for CO_(2)conversion to methanol of In_(2)O_(3)-based catalysts by modulating morphology and decorating *** different Au/In_(2)O_(3)catalysts were prepared,their activity follow the sequence of Au/In_(2)O_(3)-nanosphere(Au/In_(2)O_(3)-NS)>Au/In_(2)O_(3)-nanoplate(Au/In_(2)O_(3)-NP)>Au/In_(2)O_(3)-hollow microsphere(Au/In_(2)O_(3)-HM).Au/In_(2)O_(3)-NS exhibited the best performance with good CO_(2)conversion of 12.7%,high methanol selectivity of 59.8%,and large space time yield of 0.32 g CH_(3)OH/(hr·gcat)at 300℃.The high performance of Au/In_(2)O_(3)-NS was considered as the presence of *** contributes to the creation of more surface oxygen vacancies,which further promoted the CO_(2)adsorption and facilitated CO_(2)activation to form the formate intermediates towards *** work clearly suggests that the activity of In_(2)O_(3)catalyst can be effective enhanced by structure engineering and Au decorating.

Critical behavior of quasi-two-dimensional ferromagnet Cr_(1.04)Te_(2)

The self-intercalation of Cr into pristine two-dimensional(2D) van der Waals ferromagnetic CrTe_(2),which forms chromium tellurides(Cr_(x)Te_(2)),has garnered interest due to their remarkable magnetic characteristics and the wide variety of chemical compositions ***,comprehensive basic characterization and magnetic studies are conducted on quasi-2D ferromagnetic Cr_(1.04)Te_(2) *** of the isothermal magnetization curves are conducted around the critical temperature to systematically investigate the critical ***,the critical exponents β=0.2399,γ=0.859,and δ=4.3498,as well as the Curie temperature T_(C)=249.56 K,are determined using various methods,including the modified Arrott plots,the Kouvel-Fisher method,the Widom scaling method,and the critical isotherm *** results indicate that the tricritical mean-field model accurately represents the critical behavior of Cr_(1.04)Te_(2.A magnetic phase diagram with tricritical phenomenon is thus *** investigations confirm that the critical exponents obtained conform to the scalar equation near T_(C),indicating their self-consistency and *** work sheds light on the magnetic properties of quasi-2D Cr_(1.04)Te_(2),broadening the scope of the van der Waals crystals for developments of future spintronic devices operable at room temperature.

Research on the Generation Mechanism and Suppression Method of Aerodynamic Noise in Expansion Cavity Based on Hybrid Method

The expansion chamber serves as the primary silencing structure within the exhaust ***,it can also act as a sound-emitting structure when subjected to *** article presents a hybrid method for numerically simulating and analyzing the unsteady flow and aerodynamic noise in an expansion chamber under the influence of airflow.A fluid simulation model is established,utilizing the Large Eddy Simulation(LES)method to calculate the unsteady flow within the expansion *** simulation results effectively capture the development and changes of the unsteady flow and vorticity inside the cavity,exhibiting a high level of consistency with experimental *** calculate the aerodynamic noise sources within the cavity,the flow field results are integrated using the method of integral interpolation and inserted into the acoustic *** acoustic analogy method is then employed to determine the aerodynamic noise *** acoustic simulation model is established,and the flow noise source is imported into the sound field grid to calculate the sound pressure at the far-field response *** calculated sound pressure levels and resonance frequencies show good agreement with the experimental *** address the issue of airflow regeneration noise within the cavity,perforated tubes are selected as a means of noise *** experimental platformfor airflow regeneration noise is constructed,and experimental samples are processed to analyze and verify the noise suppression effect of perforated tube expansion cavities under different airflow *** research findings indicate that the perforated tube expansion cavity can effectively suppress low-frequency aerodynamic noise within the cavity by impeding the formation of strong shear ***,the semi-perforated tube expansion cavity demonstrates the most effective suppression of aerodynamic noise.

Quantum support vector machine for multi classification

Classical machine learning algorithms seem to be totally incapable of processing tremendous data,while quantum machine learning algorithms could deal with big data unhurriedly and provide exponential acceleration over classical *** this paper,we propose two quantum support vector machine algorithms for multi *** is the quantum version of the directed acyclic graph support vector *** other one is to use the Grover search algorithm before measurement,which amplifies the amplitude of the phase storing of the classification *** k classification,the former provides quadratic reduction in computational complexity when *** latter accelerates the training speed significantly and more importantly,the classification result can be read out with a probability of at least 50%using only one *** conduct numerical simulations on two algorithms,and their classification success rates are 96%and 88.7%,respectively.

Simulation of gas-solids heat transfer in cyclone pyrolyzer using CFD-DEM model

Fast heat transfer in the pyrolyzer can increase the yield of pyrolysis gas and tar,and improve the quality of *** with the downer pyrolyzer,the cyclone pyrolyzer can simultaneously achieve high solids holdup and violent turbulence,and correspondingly faster heat *** this work,the heat transfer behavior in the cyclone pyrolyzer is specifically studied using the computational fluid dynamics-discrete element *** simulation results reveal that the gas-solids heat convection contributes mainly to the heat transfer process,and the heat radiation and conduction are relatively small and almost negligible,*** with the downer pyrolyzer under the same operating conditions,the heating rate is significantly increased in the cyclone *** analyzing the flow characteristics in the cyclone pyrolyzer,it is found that the region of high convective heat transfer rate coincides with that of natural cyclone ***,the final coal temperature increases with the increase of gas velocity and exists a maximum *** results can offer some qualitative understanding of the heat transfer behavior in the cyclone pyrolyzer.

Electrocatalytic oxygen reduction(ORR)via the 2e−pathway to form H_(2)O_(2) in acidic medium has attracted extensive ***,the low activity,insufficient selectivity and high cost of catalysts have been the ***,CoSe_(2) with abundant Se deficiency was synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method,and the addition of NaBH4-induced CoSe_(2) phase transition from orthorhombic to cubic phase with more Se *** cubic phase CoSe_(2) with abundant Se deficiency can effectively regulate the surface electronic structure with suitable binding energies of*OOH and*O,which shows high activity,selectivity and long-term stability for acidic ORR to H_(2)O_(2).The onset potential is as low as 0.73 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE),the H_(2)O_(2) selectivity is 84%(0 V ***),and the average electron transfer number is about ***,the H_(2)O_(2) yield measured using a flow cell is as high as 115.92 mmol·gcat.^(−1)·h^(−1) and the Faradaic efficiency is 70%at 0 V ***,which presents high potential in electrocatalytic acidic ORR to H_(2)O_(2) and organic pollutant degradation using the electron-Fenton process.

As the search for effective treatments for COVID-19 continues,the high mortality rate among critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units(ICU)presents a profound *** study explores the potential benefits of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)as a supplementary treatment for severe COVID-19.A total of 110 critically ill COVID-19 patients at the Intensive Care Unit(ICU)of Vulcan Hill Hospital between Feb.,2020,and April,2020(Wuhan,China)participated in this observational *** patients received standard supportive care protocols,with a subset of 81 also receiving TCM as an adjunct *** characteristics during the treatment period and the clinical outcome of each patient were closely monitored and *** findings indicated that the TCM group exhibited a significantly lower mortality rate compared with the non-TCM group(16 of 81 vs 24 of 29;0.3 vs 2.3 person/month).In the adjusted Cox proportional hazards models,TCM treatment was associated with improved survival odds(P<0.001).Furthermore,the analysis also revealed that TCM treatment could partially mitigate inflammatory responses,as evidenced by the reduced levels of proinflammatory cytokines,and contribute to the recovery of multiple organic functions,thereby potentially increasing the survival rate of critically ill COVID-19 patients.
