2D–3D dual carbon layer confined ultrasmall VN nanoparticles for improving lithium-ion storage in hybrid capacitors

Lithium-ion capacitors(LICs) of achieving high power and energy density have garnered significant attention. However, the kinetics unbalance between anode and cathode can impede the application of LICs. Vanadium nitride(VN) with a high theoretical specific capacity(~ 1200 m Ah·g^(-1)) is a better pseudocapacitive anode to match the response of cathode in LICs. However, the insertion/extraction of Li-ions in VN's operation results in significant volume expansion. Herein, the VN/N-r GO-5composite that three-dimentional(3D) dicyandiamidederived-carbon(DDC) tightly wrapped VN quantum dots(VN QDTs) on two-dimentional(2D) reduced graphene oxid(r GO) was prepared by a facile strategy. The VN QDTs can reduce ion diffusion length and improve charge transfer kinetics. The 2D r GO as a template provides support for nanoparticle dispersion and improves electrical conductivity. The 3D DDC tightly encapsulated with VN QDTs mitigates agglomeration of VN particles as well as volume expansion. Correspondingly, the LICs with VN/Nr GO-5 composite as anode and activated carbon(AC) as cathode were fabricated, which exhibits a high energy density and power density. Such strategy provides a perspective for improving the electrochemical properties of LIC anode materials by suppressing volume expansion and enhancing conductivity.

Diagnostic Value of GDF10 for the Tumorigenesis and Immune Infiltration in Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Objective:Lung squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC)is associated with a low survival rate.Evidence suggests that bone morphogenetic proteins(BMPs)and their receptors(BMPRs)play crucial roles in tumorigenesis and progression.However,a comprehensive analysis of their role in LUSC is lacking.Our study aimed to explore the relationship between BMPs/BMPRs expression levels and the tumorigenesis and prognosis of LUSC.Methods:The“R/Limma”package was utilized to analyze the differential expression characteristics of BMPs/BMPRs in LUSC,using data from TCGA,GTEx,and GEO databases.Concurrently,the“survminer”packages were employed to investigate their prognostic value and correlation with clinical features in LUSC.The core gene associated with LUSC progression was further explored through weighted gene correlation network analysis(WGCNA).LASSO analysis was conducted to construct a prognostic risk model for LUSC.Clinical specimens were examined by immunohistochemical analysis to confirm the diagnostic value in LUSC.Furthermore,based on the tumor immune estimation resource database and tumor-immune system interaction database,the role of the core gene in the tumor microenvironment of LUSC was explored.Results:GDF10 had a significant correlation only with the pathological T stage of LUSC,and the protein expression level of GDF10 decreased with the tumorigenesis of LUSC.A prognostic risk model was constructed with GDF10 as the core gene and 5 hub genes(HRASLS,HIST1H2BH,FLRT3,CHEK2,and ALPL)for LUSC.GDF10 showed a significant positive correlation with immune cell infiltration and immune checkpoint expression.Conclusion:GDF10 might serve as a diagnostic biomarker reflecting the tumorigenesis of LUSC and regulating the tumor immune microenvironment to guide more effective treatment for LUSC.

Blue LED-pumped intense short-wave infrared luminescence based on Cr^(3+)-Yb^(3+)-co-doped phosphors

The growing demand for spectroscopy applications in the areas of agriculture,retail and healthcare has led to extensive research on infrared light sources.The ability of phosphors to absorb blue light from commercial LED and convert the excitation energy into long-wavelength infrared luminescence is crucial for the design of cost-effective and high-performance phosphor-converted infrared LEDs.However,the lack of ideal blue-pumped short-wave infrared(SWIR)phosphors with an emission peak longer than 900 nm greatly limits the development of SWIR LEDs using light converter technology.Here we have developed a series of SWIR-emitting materials with high luminescence efficiency and excellent thermal stability by co-doping Cr^(3+)-Yb^(3+) ion pairs into Lu_(0.2)Sc_(0.8)BO_(3) host materials.Benefitting from strong light absorption of Cr^(3+) in the blue waveband and very efficient Cr^(3+)→Yb^(3+) energy transfer,the as-synthesized Lu_(0.2)Sc_(0.8)BO_(3):Cr^(3+),Yb^(3+) phosphor emits intense SWIR light in the 900-1200 nm from Yb^(3+) under excitation with blue light at~460 nm.The optimized phosphor presents an internal quantum yield of 73.6%and the SWIR luminescence intensity at 100℃can still keep 88.4%of the starting value at 25℃.SWIR LED prototype device based on Lu0.2Sc0.8BO3∶Cr^(3+)Yb^(3+) phosphor exhibits exceptional luminescence performance,delivering SWIR radiant power of 18.4 mW with 9.3%of blue-to-SWIR power conversion efficiency and 5.0%of electricity-to-SWIR light energy conversion efficiency at 120 mA driving current.Moreover,under the illumination of high-power SWIR LED,covert information identification and night vision lighting have been realized,demonstrating a very bright prospect for practical applications.

In situ polymerization preparation and mechanical properties of nanocomposites based on PA10T/10I-block-PEG copolymer and graphene oxide

Poly(decamethylene terephthalamide/decamethylene isophthalamide)-block-polyvinyl alcoho)(PA10 T/10 IPEG) copolymer/graphene oxide(GO) composites were prepared via in-situ melt polymerization and two different nano-filler addition approaches were compared. The relationship between the micro-structure and performance of the elastomer composites prepared by one-step and two-step methods was explored. The results show that the two-step method significantly promoted the dispersion of the GO in a polymer matrix, and facilitated the grafting of more hard molecular chains. Thus, the elastic modulus and tensile strength of the nanocomposite have been significantly improved by the presence of GO. This was because of the strong interaction between the functional groups on the surface of the GO and the hard molecular chains. This would be also be favorable to load transfer across the interface. Additionally, the elongation at the break of composites increased by 10% with the addition of a small amount of GO(0.2% wt). This is because hard domains tend to be enriched on the surface of GO in composites and act as a lubricating layer at the interface between the GO and matrix, leading to increased deformation ability. This work provides an effective strategy to prepare elastomer composites with high strength and toughness.

Fabrication of segregated poly(arylene sulfide sulfone)/graphene nanoplate composites reinforced by polymer fibers for electromagnetic interference shielding

Poly(arylene sulfide sulfone)/graphene nanoplate(PASS/GNP) composites with segregated structure based on continuous polymer fiber skeletons were fabricated by coating a thin conductive layer on the PASS fibers and then performing compression molding. The formation of a unique segregated conductive network endowed the PASS/GNP composites with high electrical conductivity and excellent electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding effectiveness(SE), reaching 17.8 S/m and 30.1 d B, respectively, when the content of the GNPs in the conductive layer was 20 wt%. The PASS/GNP composites also exhibited outstanding mechanical properties, which was attributed to the continuous PASS fiber skeletons that could withstand large loads and the strong interfacial interaction between the conductive layers and the PASS fibers that could provide good stress transfer. This approach is suitable for most soluble polymers.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of magnesium matrix composite reinforced with carbon nanotubes by ultrasonic vibration

A novel approach was successfully developed to fabricate bulk carbon nanotube-reinforced Mg matrix com-posites with uniform carbon nanotubes(CNTs).The approach consists of pre-dispersion and ultrasonic vibration.Homoge-neous and single CNTs on flake Zn powder can be achieved simply by slurry blending.The pre-dispersed CNTs were added to Mg melt,and then,the melt was ultrasonically pro-cessed.After ultrasonic vibration,the CNTs/Mg-6Zn melt was cast into a metal mold.Most CNTs distribute homoge-neously and singly in the bulk composites.Moreover,good interfacial bonding is achieved,and Raman spectroscopy analysis shows that the damage to CNTs is insignificant.Meanwhile,CNTs evidently improve the ultimate tensile strength,yield strength and elongation.The Kelly-Tyson formula agrees well with the experimental tensile value,and the load-transfer efficiency is nearly equal to 1.

High-precision high-voltage detuning system for HIAF-SRing electron target

The development of a detuning system for the precision control of electron energy is a major challenge when electron targets are used in ion-storage rings.Thus,a high-precision,high-voltage,detuning system was developed for the electron target of a high-intensity heavy-ion accelerator facility-spectrometer ring(HIAF-SRing)to produce accurate electron-ion relative energies during experiments.The system consists of auxiliary,and high-voltage detuning power supplies.The front stage of the auxiliary power supply adopts an LCC resonant converter operating in the soft-switching state and an LC filter for a sinusoidal waveform output in the post-stage.The detuning power supply is a high-voltage pulse amplifier(HVPA)connected with a high-voltage DC(HVDC)module in series.In this paper,the design and development of the detuning system are described in detail,and the test bench is presented.The test results demonstrated that the detuning system conforms to the technical specifications of the dielectronic recombination(DR)experiment.Finally,a Fe15+DR spectrum was measured using the detuning system.The experimental data demonstrated a good experimental resolution and verified the reliability and feasibility of the design.

Formation of a DMM-EM2 Mixing Trend in Continental Intraplate Basalts by Variable Degrees of Melting of Hybrid Mantle Controlled by the Lithospheric Lid

Continental intraplate basalts form by partial melting of the mantle, and can provide important constraints on mantle heterogeneity. However, due to the thick overlying continental lithosphere, the origins of the geochemical characteristics of continental intraplate basalts are controversial.In this study, we examined the geochemistry of Cenozoic basalts in southeast China. These basalts which are divided into four volcanic belts exhibit a DMM-EM2 mixing trend and spatial variations in Pb isotopes from inland(i.e., thick lithosphere) to coastal(i.e., thin lithosphere) regions. In contrast to the Pb isotopic variations, there are no spatial variations in Sr-Nd-Hf isotopes. Marked correlations between Pb isotopes and major elements(i.e., MgO and SiO2) suggest the continental lithospheric lid controlled their petrogenesis. Nonetheless, other factors are needed to explain the variations in Ti/Ti* and Hf/Hf* ratios, and Nd-Hf isotopes of the southeast China basalts. The increasing Pb isotope ratios from the inner to coastal regions are associated with decreases in CaO/Al2O3ratios and increases in FC3MS(FeOT/CaO–3×MgO/SiO2; in wt.%) values, indicating contributions from non-peridotite components in the mantle sources. The similarly depleted Nd-Hf isotopic compositions of the basalts from the three inner belts indicate these basalts have a similar origin, whereas the more enriched isotopic features of the basalts from the outer belt suggest their mantle source contains older recycled oceanic crust. Thus,source(i. e., lithological) heterogeneity also had a significant role in controlling the geochemistry of these basalts. The DMM-EM2 mixing trend defined by the Pb isotopic compositions of continental intraplate basalts from southeast China was generated by variable degrees of melting of heterogeneous mantle that was controlled by the thickness of the continental lithospheric lid(i. e., the melting pressure). Strategies to approach high performance in Cr^(3+)-doped phosphors for high-power NIR-LED light sources

Broadband near-infrared(NIR)-emitting phosphors are key for next-generation smart NIR light sources based on blue LEDs.To achieve excellent NIR phosphors,we propose a strategy of enhancing the crystallinity,modifying the micromorphology,and maintaining the valence state of Cr^(3+) in Ca_(3)Sc_(2)Si_(3)O_(12) garnet(CSSG).By adding fluxes and sintering in a reducing atmosphere,the internal quantum efficiency(IQE)is greatly enhanced to 92.3%.The optimized CSSG:6% Cr^(3+) exhibits excellent thermal stability.At 150℃,97.4% of the NIR emission at room temperature can be maintained.The fabricated NIR-LED device emits a high optical power of 109.9mW at 520 mA.The performances of both the achieved phosphor and the NIR-LED are almost the best results until now.The mechanism for the optimization is investigated.An application of the NIR-LED light source is demonstrated.
