Reduction behavior of iron ore powder by high-volatile coal in thermogravimetric-gas chromatographic and kinetic analysis

The reduction behavior of iron ore powder by high-volatile coal was investigated,and its kinetic mechanism was *** effect of volatiles in coal on the reduction reaction of iron ore was compared by utilizing a Xinjiang lignite with a high volatile content and its pyrolysis carbon produced by high-temperature pyrolysis to remove volatiles,serving as a *** mass loss and gas composition of the samples during the reduction process were detected using thermo-gravimetric analysis and gas chromatography,and the morphological changes of iron ore powder were observed through scanning electron *** kinetic parameters of the iron oxide reduction reaction were calculated by the Flynn-Ozawa-Wall method,and the kinetic mechanism of volatile participation in the iron oxide reduction reaction was determined through the Coats-Redfern *** results indicate that the coupling effect between the high-volatile coal pyrolysis and reduction reactions occurs during the second stage of the entire coupling process,which corresponds to the late stage of coal pyrolysis with a substantial release of H_(2)and *** volatiles in coal actively participated in the reduction reaction,reducing the initiation temperature of the reaction by around 200℃.The reduction of iron oxides by high-volatile coal was jointly promoted by the"hydrogen cycle"and"carbon cycle",resulting in a higher reduction extent and metallization rate at the end of the *** high-volatile coal was used as the reductant,the average activation energy for the entire process was 76.5 kJ/mol,a significant decrease compared to the employment of pyrolysis carbon without volatiles as the reductant(1167 kJ/mol).

Expression of Bone-related Genes in Bone Marrow MSCs after Cyclic Mechanical Strain: Implications for Distraction Osteogenesis

Aim Understanding the response of mesenchymal stem cells （MSCs） to mechanical strain and their consequent gene expression patterns will broaden our knowledge of the mechanobiology of distraction osteogenesis. Methodology In this study, a single period of cyclic mechanical stretch （0.5 Hz, 2,000 με） was performed on rat bone marrow MSCs. Cellular proliferation and alkaline phosphatase （ALP） activity was examined. The mRNA expression of six bone-related genes （Ets-1, bFGF, IGF-Ⅱ, TGF-β, Cbfal and ALP） was detected using real-time quantitative RT-PCR. Results The results showed that mechanical strain can promote MSCs proliferation, increase ALP activity, and up-regulate the expression of these genes. A significant increase in Ets-1 expression was detected immediately after mechanical stimulation, but Cbfal expression became elevated later. The temporal expression pattem of ALP coincided perfectly with Cbfal. Conclusion The results of this study suggest that mechanical strain may act as a stimulator to induce differentiation of MSCs into osteoblasts, and that these bone-related genes may play different roles in the response of MSCs to mechanical stimulation.

Influencing factors and paths of direct carbon emissions from the energy consumption of rural residents in central China determined using a questionnaire survey

Rural residents have unique lifestyle characteristics,energy consumption methods,energy-saving behaviors,and *** the direct carbon emission from rural residents is based on the combined effect of multiple *** order to address the complexity of factors affecting the direct carbon emissions from rural household,this study used a structural equation model to examine the effect of multi-factor variables on direct carbon emissions from rural households in central *** were collected using questionnaires and surveys in six cities in central China to reflect the daily reality of rural *** results show that quality of life and awareness of energy conservation can affect the direct carbon emissions of rural *** characteristics and awareness of energy conservation affected carbon emissions indirectly by affecting the daily behaviors and quality of life of the residents;consumption characteristics,energy-saving behaviors,and energy conservation policies are not the main factors contributing to the direct carbon emissions of the *** on the results,future studies can focus on energy conservation education,improvement of the living habits,coal energy use efficiency,and energy consumption structure of residences.

Controlled release of dexamethasone from fibrin sealant for intratympanic administration in inner ear therapy

The aim of the present work was to show the sustainability of fibrin sealant in releasing dexamethasone and adjust the protocol for clinical application of the novel method in the treatment of Meniere’s disease (MD) and sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL).Gelation occurred shortly after mixing dexamethasone-containing fibrinogen with *** was constantly released for at least 16 d at a stable level after 7d in protocol 1 (low-dose),while it was robustly released within 4 d and slowed afterward until 10 d in protocol 2(high-dose).There were significant differences among the time points in Protocol 2 (p<0.01,ANOVA),and the exponential model with the formula y=15.299*e~(-0.483*t) fits the *** estimated concentration of dexamethasone released on 7 d in protocol 2 was slightly lower than that observed in protocol *** fibrin sealant is capable of constantly releasing dexamethasone with adjustable *** and minimally invasive administration of the material can be achieved in the clinic by sequential injections of the fluids using a soft-tipped catheter.

Autoinflammatory characteristics and short-term effects of delivering high-dose steroids to the surface of the intact endolymphatic sac and incus in refractory Ménière’s disease

Objective:To investigate immune-related genetic background in intractable Meniere’s disease(MD)and the immediate results of a novel therapy by delivering steroids to the surface of the intact endolymphatic sac(ES)and incus in a sustainable *** report and methods:Candidate genes involved in immune regulation were sequenced using a nextgeneration sequencing method in a patient with intractable *** were confirmed using the Sanger sequencing *** ES was exposed,and gelatin sponge particles were immersed in highdose methylprednisolone solution and placed onto the surface of ES.“L”-shaped gelatin sponge strips were immersed in dexamethasone solution and served as a guiding device for the steroids by touching the incus and gelatin sponge particles on the surface of the *** sponge particles immersed in dexamethasone solution were placed around the gelatin sponge strips and sealed using fibrin ***:Autoinflammation in the refractory MD case was indicated by genotype,including novel heterozygous mutations of PRF1,UNC13D,SLC29A3,ITCH,and JAK3,as well as *** vertigo was fully relieved immediately after *** and aural fullness were resolved 3 weeks after operation,whereas hearing improved in 2 mon *** recurrence was noted during the 5-monfollow-up,and the final MRI supported the novel therapeutic ***:Autoinflammation was involved in a refractory *** novel therapy,which involves the delivery of steroids to the surface of the intact ES and incus,is effective in relieving vertigo and tinnitus and improves hearing function of refractory MD.

Long-lived luminescent materials possess wide application prospects in various areas,but their constructions still face a huge challenge,especially the achievement in *** aggregate is an effective method to attain intriguing luminescence,thus it is expected to build long-lived materials in *** this work,a series of new gold(I)complexes were developed by employing unique carbazole and phosphine as the ligands,and these resulting systems exhibited rare long lifetimes of milliseconds in the aggregate *** was well unveiled that these complexes emitted blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF)with the lifetimes of several microseconds in dilute solution;while orange-red phosphorescence with much longer lifetimes of several milliseconds were achieved in the aggregate *** our knowledge,this is the first implementation of aggregation-induced conversion from TADF to *** on their excellent luminescent properties,we successfully applied these complexes in cell imaging and inhibition of cancer cells.

Postaurical injection is a systemic delivery supported by symmetric distribution of Gd-DOTA in both the ipsilateral and contralateral ears

Postaurical injection of therapeutics was recently applied in clinical practice to treat inner ear diseases based on supposed existence of a direct channel from the postaurical area to the inner ear. Doubting on the associated reports and aiming to provide evidence on the inner ear uptake mechanism, the present study tracked the dynamic distribution of gadolinium-tetra-azacyclo-dodecane-tetra-acetic acid (Gd-DOTA) in rat inner ears after postaurical injection using MRI. A targeted tympanic medial wall delivery was utilized as control. The results showed that, at the early time points after postaurical injection, Gd-DOTA distributed mainly in tissues surrounding the bulla, temporal bone and skull and neck space. In the inner ear, there was gradual uptake of Gd-DOTA on both the ipsilateral and contralateral sides with equal signal intensities. There was no sign of direct channel carrying the agent from the postaurical area to the inner ear. Targeted tympanic medial wall delivery induced significantly greater uptake of Gd-DOTA in the inner ear than did postaurical injection. At 30 min post-administration, targeted tympanic medial wall delivery yielded 4.6-folds higher signal intensity than did postaurical injection. The total dose of Gd-DOTA delivered by the targeted tympanic medial wall approach was only 0.1% of that delivered by postaurical injection. In conclusion, postaurical injection is a systemic administration, which is similar to hypodermic injection, rather than a focal delivery method. By contraries, targeted tympanic medial wall delivery induces fast and abundant uptake of Gd-DOTA in the ipsilateral inner ear without significant distribution in unwanted areas.

Spatial and spectral filtering of tapered lasers by using tapered distributed Bragg reflector grating

A 1040 nm tapered laser with tapered distributed Bragg reflector(DBR) grating is designed and fabricated. By designing the grating with tapered layout, the tapered DBR grating exhibits the scattering effect on side backward-traveling waves, thus achieving additional suppression of parasitic oscillation. Under the suppression of parasitic oscillation, the spatial and spectral characteristics of the tapered laser are improved. The experimental results show that a near-Gaussian far-field distribution and a kink-free P–I characteristics are achieved, and a single peak emission with a wavelength of1046.84 nm and a linewidth of 56 pm is obtained.
