Climate warming is causing rapid permafrost degradation,including thaw-induced subsidence,potentially resulting in heightened carbon ***,our understanding of the levels and variations of carbon components in permafrost,particularly during the degradation process,remains *** uncertainties arising from this process lead to inaccurate assessments of the climate effects during permafrost *** vast expanses of permafrost in the Tibetan Plateau,there is limited research available on SOC components,particularly in the central Tibetan *** remarkable variations in hydrothermal conditions across different areas of the Tibetan Plateau,the existing limited studies make it challenging to assess the overall SOC components in the permafrost across the Tibetan Plateau and simulate their future *** this study,we examined the properties of soil organic carbon(SOC)and microbial necromass carbon(MicrobialNC)in a representative permafrost thaw-subsidence area at the southern edge of continuous permafrost in the central Tibetan *** results indicate that prior to the thaw-subsidence,the permafrost had a SOC content of 72.68±18.53 mg g^(-1),with MicrobialNC accounting for 49.6%.The thaw-subsidence of permafrost led to a 56.4%reduction in SOC,with MicrobialNC accounting for 70.0%of the lost *** constitutes the primary component of permafrost SOC,and it is the main component that is lost during thaw-subsidence *** in MicrobialNC are primarily correlated with factors pH,plant input,and microbial *** present study holds crucial implications for both the ecological and biogeochemical processes associated with carbon release from permafrost,and it furnishes essential data necessary for modeling the global response of permafrost to climate *** on this study and previous research,permafrost thawing in the Tibetan Plateau causes substantial loss of ***,there's remarkable heterogeneit

A novel insight into enhanced propane combustion performance on PtUSY catalyst

Platinum was supported on c-AlOand ultrastable Y zeolite(USY) by an incipient wetness impregnation method. The catalysts were characterized by nitrogen physisorption, transmission electron microscopy(TEM),CO/CHisothermal oxidations, NHtemperature-programmed desorption(NH–TPD) and infrared(IR) spectroscopy of adsorbed probe molecules(CO, CHand CH+ O). Compared with Pt/AlO, Pt USY catalyst shows obviously higher activity for the combustion of propane. After estimating the size effect of Pt particles and propane adsorption capacity of USY, the excellent activity of Pt USY is also attributed to the strong interactions between the precious metal and the acidic zeolite. It inhibits the oxidation of Pt in an oxygen-rich atmosphere at high temperatures, which facilitate the initial oxidation step involving the C–H bond activation on metallic Pt as reflected by in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fouriertransformed(DRIFT) spectra.

Simultaneous measurement-device-independent continuous variable quantum key distribution with realistic detector compensation

We propose a novel scheme for measurement-device-independent(MDI)continuous-variable quantum key distribution(CVQKD)by simultaneously conducting classical communication and QKD,which is called“simultaneous MDI-CVQKD”*** such protocol,each sender(Alice,Bob)can superimpose random numbers for QKD on classical information by taking advantage of the same weak coherent pulse and an untrusted third party(Charlie)decodes it by using the same coherent detectors,which could be appealing in practice due to that multiple purposes can be realized by employing only single communication *** is more,the proposed protocol is MDI,which is immune to all possible side-channel attacks on practical *** results illustrate that the simultaneous MDI-CVQKD protocol can secure against arbitrary collective *** addition,we employ phase-sensitive optical amplifiers to compensate the imperfection existing in practical *** this technology,even common practical detectors can be used for detection through choosing a suitable optical amplifier ***,we also take the finite-size effect into consideration and show that the whole raw keys can be taken advantage of to generate the final secret key instead of sacrificing part of them for parameter ***,an enhanced performance of the simultaneous MDI-CVQKD protocol can be obtained in finite-size regime.

Power optimization for maximum channel capacity in MIMO relay system

Introducing multiple-input multiple-output（MIMO） relay channel could offer significant capacity gain. And it is of great importance to develop effective power allocation strategies to achieve power efficiency and improve channel capacity in amplify-and-forward relay system. This article investigates a two-hop MIMO relay system with multiple antennas in relay node （RN） and receiver （RX）. Maximizing capacity with antenna selection（MCAS） and maximizing capacity with eigen-decomposition （MCED） schemes are proposed to efficiently allocate power among antennas in RN under first and second hop limited scenarios. The analysis and simulation results show that both MCED and MCAS can improve the channel capacity compared with uniform power allocation （UPA） scheme in most of the studied areas. The MCAS bears comparison with MCED with an acceptable capacity loss, but lowers the complexity by saving channel state information （CSI） feedback to the transmitter （TX）. Moreover, when the RN is close to RX, the performance of UPA is also close to the upper bound as the performance of first hop is limited.

Controlled pore size of Pt/KIT-6 used for propane total oxidation

Mesoporous silica KIT-6 with different pore sizes was controllably synthesized by hydrothermal meth- ods. The same contents of Pt were loaded on KIT-6 sup- ports to apply for propane total oxidation. Low-angle X-ray diffraction （XRD）, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, CO chemisorption and transmission electron microscopy （TEM） were carried out to investigate the physicochemical properties of the catalysts. The results reveal that different pore sizes of KIT-6 supports could affect the Pt particle sizes on KIT-6. The mesopores on KIT-6-80 and KIT-6- 130 effectively confine the size of the inside Pt nanopar- ticles during calcining. Pt/KIT-6-80 with the appropriate pore size as well as the Pt particle size exhibits the best catalytic performance with T50 （the temperature at which hydrocarbon （HC） conversion reaches 50%） of only 237 ℃. However, Pt particles prefer dispersing on the external surface of KIT-6-40 due to those too small pores.

Investigation of high rate mechanical flow followed by ignition for high-energy propellant under dynamic extrusion loading

Investigating the ignition response of nitrate ester plasticized polyether(NEPE) propellant under dynamic extrusion loading is of great significant at least for two cases. Firstly, it helps to understand the mechanism and conditions of unwanted ignition inside charged propellant under accident ***, evaluates the risk of a shell crevice in a solid rocket motor(SRM) under a falling or overturning scene. In the present study, an innovative visual crevice extrusion experiment is designed using a dropweight apparatus. The dynamic responses of NEPE propellant during extrusion loading, including compaction and compression, rapid shear flow into the crevice, stress concentration, and ignition reaction, have been firstly observed using a high-performance high-speed camera. The ignition reaction is observed in the triangular region of the NEPE propellant sample above the crevice when the drop weight velocity was 1.90 m/s. Based on the user material subroutine interface UMAT provided by finite element software LS-DYNA, a viscoelastic-plastic model and dual ignition criterion related to plastic shear dissipation are developed and applied to the local ignition response analysis under crevice extrusion conditions. The stress concentration occurs in the crevice location of the propellant sample, the shear stress is relatively large, the effective plastic work is relatively large, and the ignition reaction is easy to occur. When the sample thickness decreases from 5 mm to 2.5 mm, the shear stress increases from 22.3 MPa to 28.6 MPa, the critical value of effective plastic work required for ignition is shortened from 1280 μs to 730 μs, and the triangular area is easily triggering an ignition reaction. The propellant sample with a small thickness is more likely to stress concentration, resulting in large shear stress and effective work, triggering an ignition reaction.

Quantitative structure-activity relationships of antimicrobial fatty acids and derivatives against Staphylococcus aureus

Fatty acids and derivatives(FADs)are resources for natural *** order to screen for additional potent antimicrobial agents,the antimicrobial activities of FADs against Staphylococcus aureus were examined using a microplate *** of fatty acids were the most potent class of fatty acids,among which monotridecanoin possessed the most potent antimicrobial *** conventional quantitative structure-activity relationship(QSAR)and comparative molecular field analysis(CoMFA)were performed to establish two statistically reliable models(conventional QSAR:R2=0.942,Q 2 LOO=0.910;CoMFA:R 2=0.979,Q 2=0.588,respectively).Improved forecasting can be achieved by the combination of these two models that provide a good insight into the structureactivity relationships of the FADs and that may be useful to design new FADs as antimicrobial agents.
