Efficacy and adverse effects of oral propranolol in infantile hemangioma:a meta-analysis of comparative studies

Effect of preoperative transcatheter arterial chemoembolization on angiogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells

AIM： To evaluate the effects of four types of preoperative transcatheter arterial chemoembolization （TACE） on angiogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） ceils. METHODS： A total of 136 patients with HCC underwent liver resection. One to five courses of TACE prior to liver resection were performed in 79 patients （TACE group）, in which one to four courses of chemotherapy alone were performed in 11 patients （group A）; one to five courses of chemotherapy combined with iodized oil were performed in 33 patients （group B）; one to three courses of chemotherapy combined with iodized oil and gelatin sponge were performed in 23 patients （group C）, one to three courses of chemotherapy combined with iodized oil, ethanol and gelatin sponge were performed in 12 patients （group D）. The other 57 patients only received liver resection （non-TACE group）. The microvessels were marked by CD31. The expression of CD31 and vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） protein were detected by immunohistochemical methods. RESULTS： The mean microvessel density （MVD） in HCC cells was significantly higher in groups A, B, C and D than in the nonACE group （P 〈 0.05）. The expression of VEGF protein in HCC cells were significantly higher in groups A, B, C and D than in the non-TACE group （P 〈 0.05）. MVD and the expression of VEGF protein were positively correlated. Mean MVD and the expression of VEGF protein were closely related to the number of courses of TACE and the interval of TACE. CONCLUSION： Four different types of preoperative TACE regimens enhanced angiogenesis in HCC cells by up-regulating the expression of VEGF protein. It is necessary to repress angiogenesis of liver cancer after TACE.

In the visual positioning of Unmanned Ground Vehicle(UGV),the visual odometer based on direct sparse method(DSO) has the advantages of small amount of calculation,high real-time performance and high robustness,so it is more widely used than the visual odometer based on feature point *** vision sensors have a narrower viewing angle than panoramic vision sensors,and there are fewer road signs in a single frame of image,resulting in poor road sign tracking and positioning capabilities,and severely restricting the development of visual *** on these considerations,this paper proposes a binocular stereo panoramic vision positioning algorithm based on extended DSO,which can solve these problems *** experimental results show that the binocular stereo panoramic vision positioning algorithm based on the extended DSO can directly obtain the panoramic depth image around the UGV,which greatly improves the accuracy and robustness of the visual positioning compared with other ordinary visual *** will have widely application prospects in the UGV field in the future.

Use of mineralized collagen bone graft substitutes and dorsal locking plate in treatment of elder metaphyseal comminuted distal radius fracture

Bone graft may be needed to fill bone defect in elderly patients with a metaphyseal comminuted distal radius fracture. In this retrospective, nonrandomized, single-surgeon study, we evaluated the clinical and radiologic outcomes of using both dorsal locking plates with or without augmentation with mineralized collagen （MC） bone graft for elderly patients with dorsally metaphyseal comminuted radius fractures. Patients in group 1 （n = 12） were treated with dorsal locking plates with MC bone graft application into the metaphyseal bone defect, and those in group 2 （n - 12） only with dorsal locking plates. Clinical and radiologic parameters were determined at three and 12 months after surgery. At final follow-up, no significant difference was noted between the 2 groups in terms of palmar tilt and radial inclination （p - 0.80）; however, ulnar variance increased significantly in the group 2 treated with dorsal locking plates without augmentation （p〈0.05）. Functionally, there was no significant difference between the groups. Our preliminary study suggests that combination of MC as bone-graft substitutes and dorsal locking plates may be a usefully alternative for elderly patients with metaphyseal comminuted distal radius fracture.
