Brain-computer interface(BCI)technology is rapidly advancing in medical research and *** an emerging biomedical engineering technology,it has garnered significant attention in the clinical research of brain disease diagnosis and treatment,neurological rehabilitation,and mental ***,BCI also raises several challenges and ethical concerns in clinical *** this article,the authors investigate and discuss three aspects of BCI in medicine and healthcare:the state of international ethical governance,multidimensional ethical challenges pertaining to BCI in clinical research,and suggestive concerns for ethical *** the great potential of frontier BCI research and development in the field of medical care,the ethical challenges induced by itself and the complexities of clinical research and brain function have put forward new special fields for ethics in *** ensure"responsible innovation"in BCI research in healthcare and medicine,the creation of an ethical global governance framework and system,along with special guidelines for cutting-edge BCI research in medicine,is suggested.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)and proliferation play important roles in epithelial cancer formation and progression,but what molecules and how they trigger EMT is largely *** we performed spatial transcriptomic and functional analyses on samples of multistage esophageal squamous-cell carcinoma(ESCC)from mice and humans to decipher these critical *** investigating spatiotemporal gene expression patterns and cell–cell interactions,we demonstrated that the aberrant epithelial cell interaction via EFNB1-EPHB4 triggers EMT and cell cycle mediated by downstream SRC/ERK/AKT *** aberrant epithelial cell interaction occurs within the basal layer at early precancerous lesions,which expands to the whole epithelial layer and strengthens along the cancer development and *** analysis revealed that the aberrant EFNB1-EPHB4 interaction is caused by overexpressedΔNP63 due to TP53 mutation,the culprit in human ESCC *** results shed new light on the role of TP53-TP63/ΔNP63-EFNB1-EPHB4 axis in EMT and cell proliferation in epithelial cancer formation.

Wound healing in diabetic ulcers remains a significant clinical challenge,primarily due to bacterial infection and impaired *** americana extract(PAE)has been widely used to treat diabetic wounds,yet its underlying mechanisms are not fully *** study aimed to elucidate these mechanisms by analyzing long non-coding RNA(lncRNA)expressions in the wound tissues from diabetic anal fistula patients treated with or without PAE,using high-throughput *** blood monocytes from patients were differentiated into M0 macrophages with human macrophage colony-stimulating factor(hMCSF)and subsequently polarized into M1 macrophages with *** results indicated that linC01133 and SLAMF9 were downregulated in wound tissues of patients treated with ***,PAE suppressed M1 macrophage polarization and enhanced human umbilical vein endothelial cell(HUVEC)proliferation,migration,and *** effects were diminished when linC01133 or SLAMF9 were ***,linC01133 was shown to upregulate SLAMF9 through interaction with *** of SLAMF9 reversed the effects of linC01133 silencing on macrophage polarization and HUVEC *** conclusion,PAE facilitates the healing of infected diabetic ulcers by downregulating the linC01133/SLAMF9 pathway.

Tumorigenesis is a multistep process,with oncogenic mutations in a normal cell conferring clonal advantage as the initial ***,despite pervasive somatic mutations and clonal expansion in normal tissues,their transformation into cancer remains a rare event,indicating the presence of additional driver events for progression to an irreversible,highly heterogeneous,and invasive ***,researchers are emphasizing the mechanisms of environmental tumor risk factors and epigenetic alterations that are profoundly influencing early clonal expansion and malignant evolution,independently of inducing ***,clonal evolution in tumorigenesis reflects a multifaceted interplay between cell-intrinsic identities and various cell-extrinsic factors that exert selective pressures to either restrain uncontrolled proliferation or allow specific clones to progress into ***,the mechanisms by which driver events induce both intrinsic cellular competency and remodel environmental stress to facilitate malignant transformation are not fully *** this review,we summarize the genetic,epigenetic,and external driver events,and their effects on the co-evolution of the transformed cells and their ecosystem during tumor initiation and early malignant evolution.A deeper understanding of the earliest molecular events holds promise for translational applications,predicting individuals at high-risk of tumor and developing strategies to intercept malignant transformation.

Reconstructed parallel sites enhance the reactive oxygen tolerance of non-noble metal catalyst for durable proton exchange membrane fuel cells

The establishment of reactive oxygen species(ROS) elimination sites in iron-nitrogen-carbon(Fe-N-C) electrocatalysts to achieve durable proton-exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs) performance has attracted broad interest. However, realizing ROS removal efficiency and oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) activity within a single system represents a significant challenge to date. Herein, we demonstrate uniform ROS elimination sites and ORR centers through an electrochemical reconstruction method on the parallel sites of Fe@Ce NC electrocatalyst for durable PEMFC. During the reconstruction process, the Fe sites can retain their original configuration. Meanwhile, the pristine Ce clusters will evolve into more efficient, highly dispersed ***, the reconstructed Fe and Ce sites exhibit favorable energy barriers for the ORR and ROS elimination pathways,respectively, thereby maintaining ORR activity and achieving high ROS tolerance. Consequently, the PEMFC assembled with our catalyst shows only a 2% decay in power density after the accelerated durability test. We anticipate that this parallel structure design will provide new insight into the development of more durable electrocatalysts for PEMFCs.
