Investigation on coaxial stability of nano-bearing under two axis-deviation perturbations

A spatial cylindrical model on nano-bearing constructed by double-walled carbon nano-tube (DWCNT) is established. Two motion equations are advanced to characterize the eccentric and deflective mode of the nano-bearing, respectively. On the basis of these equations, the coaxial stability of the nano-bearing under two axis-deviation perturbations is investigated. A characteristic parameter λ * governing the coaxial stability of the nano-bearing is determined. The influences of the angular velocity, interlayer spacing and axial length of the nano-bearing on the characteristic parameter λ * are analyzed and discussed in detail. It is found that when the angular velocity or interlayer spacing is smaller than a certain critical value, the parameter λ * keeps negative, and the coaxial stability of the nano-bearing is maintained. However, the axial length has very insignificant influence on λ * . In addition, for the two non-coaxial modes, the eccentric mode occurs more easily than the deflective one. The results of this paper provide a further insight into the coaxial stability of nano-bearing via the spatial model.

Based on a first-order state-vector differential equation representation of Maxwell's equations, an analytical formulation is derived for the equivalent currents on an anisotropic material backed by a metal surface, and the relation between two currents is also considered. These expressions are degenerated into the common forms for some simple cases. This effort will provide the theoretical preparation for the approximate calculation of electromagnetic scattering from a conducting object coated by an anisotropic material.

This paper provides a general proof of unification between two concepts of radar target an gular glint. The analysis of a two-point target model, consisting of a electrically and a magnetically ideal dipole, shows the relation, difference and equivalent condition between them more clearly. Angular glint has been synthesized from the measured data of radar echo phase, and compared with the theoretical result.

Transition metal-based nanomaterials have emerged as promising electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction（OER）. Considerable research efforts have shown that self-reconstruction occurs on these nanomaterials under operating conditions of OER process. However, most of them undergo incomplete reconstruction with limited thickness of reconstruction layer, leading to low component utilization and arduous exploration of real catalytic mechanism. Herein, we identify the dynamic behaviors in complete reconstruction of Co-based complexes during OER. The hollow phytic acid（PA） cross-linked CoFe-based complex nanoboxes with porous nanowalls are designed because of their good electrolyte penetration and mass transport ability, in favor of the fast and complete reconstruction. A series of experiment characterizations demonstrate that the reconstruction process includes the fast substitution of PA by OH-to form Co（Fe）(OH)xand subsequent potential-driven oxidation to Co（Fe）OOH. The obtained CoFeOOH delivers a low overpotential of 290 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2and a long-term *** experiment results together with theory calculations reveal that the Fe incorporation can result in the electron rearrangement of reconstructed CoFeOOH and optimization of their electronic structure,accounting for the enhanced OER activity. The work provides new insights into complete reconstruction of metal-based complexes during OER and offers guidelines for rational design of high-performance electrocatalysts.

Effect of heat treatment on microstructure,mechanical and tribological properties of in-situ (TiC+TiB)/TC4 composites by casting

To enhance the performance of in-situ synthesized 6vol.%(Ti C+Ti B)/TC4 titanium matrix composites fabricated by casting,a variety of heat treatment processes were carried *** conducting microstructure observations following various heat treatments,it was found that the composites exhibit a basketweave microstructure,consisting of an α phase and a transformed β *** sizes of(α+β) phases were found to be refined to varying degrees after the heat treatment processes,while the morphology of Ti B remains largely unchanged and Ti C becomes *** testing revealed that all composites subjected to different heat treatments demonstrate a notable increase in ultimate compressive strength as well as a slight improvement in plasticity compared to the as-cast *** results of the tribological performance test indicated that the heat-treated composites exhibit lower average friction coefficient,specific wear rate,and worn surface roughness compared to the as-cast *** the heat treatment processes studied,the composite solution heated at 1,150 °C/1 h followed by air cooling,then 950 °C/1 h followed by air cooling,and finally 500 °C/4 h followed by air cooling,demonstrates the highest levels of hardness,compressive strength,and wear *** improvements are attributed to the combined effects of solid solution strengthening,grain refinement,and the pinning of dislocation slip.
