Antifungal Activity of Chitosan on Fusarium sulphureum in Relation to Dry Rot of Potato Tuber

The antifungal activity of chitosan on Fusarium sulphureum in relation to the inhibitory effect on dry rot of potato tuber was investigated. The results showed spore germination and mycelial growth of F. sulphureum were inhibited by chitosan treatment and the inhibitory effect was highly correlated with chitosan concentration used in this study. Morphological changes such as intertwisting hyphal, distortion, and swelling with excessive branching were observed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） observation. Transmission electron microscopy （TEM） observation further indicated the ultrastructural alterations of hyphae. These changes included abnormal distribution of cytoplasma, non-membraneous inclusion bodies assembling in cytoplasm, considerable thickening of the hyphal cellular walls, and very frequent septation with malformed septa. Application of chitosan at higher concentration caused serious damage to fungal hyphae, including cellular membrane disorganisation, cell wall disruption, and breaking of inner cytoplast. New hyphae （daughter hyphae） inside the collapsed hyphal cells was often detected in the cytoplasm of chitosan-treated hyphae. In vivo tests showed that chitosan treatment at 0.5 or 1% effectively controlled the dry rot of potato tuber inoculated with a spore suspension ofF. sulphureum. However, the chitosan treatment at 1% caused phytotoxicity to potato tuber. This study suggests that the use of chitosan could be a promising handling as a natural fungicide to partially substitute for the synthetic fungicides in potato tuber.

A （v, k, λ） difference family （（v, k, λ）-DF in short） over an abelian group G of order v, is a collection F=（bi｜i ∈ I} of k-subsets of G, called base blocks, such that any nonzero element of G can be represented in precisely A ways as a difference of two elements lying in some base blocks in F. A （v, k, λ）-DDF is a difference family with disjoint blocks. In this paper, by using Weil＇s theorem on character sum estimates, it is proved that there exists a （p^n, 4, 1）-DDF, where p = 1 （rood 12） is a prime number and n ≥1.

Furniture is identified as a vital volatile organic compound(VOC)emission source in the indoor *** has become the most common raw and auxiliary fabric material for upholstered furniture,particularly with extensive consumption in sofas,due to its abundant resources and efficient *** being widely traded across the world,little research has been conducted on the VOCs released by leathermaterials and their health risk assessment in the indoor ***,this study investigated the VOC emissions of leather with different grades and the health risk of the inhalation *** on the ultra-fast gas phase electronic nose(EN)and GC-FID/Qtof,the substantial emissions of aliphatic aldehyde ketones(Aks),particularly hexanal,appear to be the cause of off-flavor in medium and low grade(MG and LG)sofa *** health risk assessment indicated that leather materials barely pose non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic effects to *** the abundance of VOC sources and the accumulation of health risks in the indoor environment,more stringent specifications concerning qualitative and quantitative content should be extended to provide VOC treatment basic for the manufacturing industry and obtain better indoor air quality.

An online subsection cooling method for hot rolling silicon steel was designed to achieve local adjustment of transverse roll ***,it was able to meet the requirements of edge drop of the strip by using the features of online thermal ***,after the new subsection spray beam was installed at the exit of mill,the special local cooling rules were analyzed for altering the thermal crown of roll according to rolling process ***,the dynamic impact of subsection cooling on the local thermal crown could just be obtained according to the measured ***,the heat transfer coefficient was determined by different subsection cooling curves under varied rolling ***,the rolling rhythm and variable conditions were important dynamic factors of transient roll temperature in practical rolling ***,real-time calculation and presetting of the thermal crown were carried out to maximize special requirements of load roll gap on local strip *** this new method,the transient temperature and the thermal crown of roll could be quantitatively controlled *** the practical results showed that the predicted temperature was able to match the measured value by more than 95%.Meanwhile,the adjustable range of thermal crown increased by more than 2.5 ***,the qualification rate of strip edge crown has increased from the original 30%to over 70%.

Steroid hormones, synthesized from cholesterol via cytochrome P450 enzymes, are categorized into adrenocortical hormones and sex hormones. Their monitoring is crucial in clinical and research settings for evaluating disease risk and physiological shifts, as well as for managing medical conditions. The structural similarity and concentration differences of steroid hormones in biological samples create significant challenges for analysis. Traditional immunoassays(IAs) are now less effective due to cross-reactivity and other limitations. Advances in mass spectrometry(MS), especially liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, have become preferred for steroid hormone detection, establishing a new “gold standard” in the field. The paper examines the influence of various pretreatment methods on the sensitivity and detection limits of steroid hormones,including protein precipitation, liquid–liquid extraction, solid-phase extraction, cold-induced phase separation technique,and derivatization technique, providing a crucial reference for clinical steroid detection. This paper reviews IAs and MS methods used recently(2013–2023) for detecting endogenous steroid hormones, highlighting their analytical strengths and limitations. It also discusses recent advancements and future prospects in both IA and MS methodologies.
