Cobalt selenide（CoSe2） emerges as a highly promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries（LIBs） owing to its high theoretical capacity and cost-effectiveness. Despite these merits, its practical utilization faces challenges stemming from substantial volume fluctuations and limited electronic conductivity. To tackle these issues, a plumbranch-like structure of CoSe2@N-doped carbon that embedded in one-dimensional N-doped carbon fibers（CoSe2@NC/CFs）, is successfully synthesized through an in-situ confinement method. Well-defined CoSe2@NC nanoparticles, featuring diameters between 20～30 nm, are uniformly dispersed on both the inner and outer surfaces of the carbon fibers. The distinctive architecture of CoSe2@NC/CFs ensures an increased number of active sites, elevated electronic conductivity, alleviated volume expansion, and accelerated reaction ***, the CoSe2@NC/CFs exhibits remarkable cycling performance and exceptional rate *** at a current density of 1000 mA g-1, the CoSe2@NC/CFs anode sustains a capacity of 664 mA h g-1with no obvious capacity decay over 500 cycles. Even at a high current density of 5000 mA g-1, it maintains a capacity of 445 mA h g-1with a mere 0.02 % capacity decay per cycle. This study introduces a novel approach to anode material design, showcasing significant advancements in lithium-ion battery technology.

The Chinese Bayan Obo deposit is a world-class rare earth element(REE) deposit with considerable niobium(Nb) and iron(Fe) resources. A complete genetic understanding on all metals is fundamental for establishing genetic models at Bayan Obo. With extensive research being focused on REE enrichment, the timing and controls of Nb enrichment remain unresolved at Bayan Obo, which is mainly due to the challenges in dating, i.e. multistage thermal events, fine-grained minerals with complex textures and the rare occurrence of uranium-enriched minerals with mature dating methods. Based on robust geological and petrographic frameworks, here we conducted ion probe uranium-lead(U-Pb) dating of ferrocolumbite to unravel the timing, hence the genesis of Nb mineralization. Three types of hydrothermal ferrocolumbites—key Nb-bearing minerals—are identified based on their textures and mineral assemblages. They yield U-Pb ages of 1312 ± 47 Ma(n = 99), 438 ± 7 Ma(n = 93), and 268 ± 5 Ma(n = 19), respectively. In line with deposit geology, we tentatively link the first, second and third stage Nb mineralization to Mesoproterozoic carbonatite magmatism, ubiquitous early Paleozoic hydrothermal activity, and Permian granitic magmatism, respectively. While quantifying the contribution of metal endowment from each stage requires further investigation, our new dates highlight that multi-stage mineralization is critical for Nb enrichment at Bayan Obo, which may also have implications for the enrichment mechanism of Nb in REE deposits in general.

A deep learning interatomic potential suitable for simulating radiation damage in bulk tungsten

So far, it has been a challenge for existing interatomic potentials to accurately describe a wide range of physical properties and maintain reasonable efficiency. In this work, we develop an interatomic potential for simulating radiation damage in body-centered cubic tungsten by employing deep potential, a neural network-based deep learning model for representing the potential energy surface. The resulting potential predicts a variety of physical properties consistent with first-principles calculations, including phonon spectrum, thermal expansion, generalized stacking fault energies, energetics of free surfaces, point defects, vacancy clusters, and prismatic dislocation loops. Specifically, we investigated the elasticity-related properties of prismatic dislocation loops, i.e., their dipole tensors, relaxation volumes, and elastic interaction energies. This potential is found to predict the maximal elastic interaction energy between two 1/2 loops better than previous potentials, with a relative error of only 7.6%. The predicted threshold displacement energies are in reasonable agreement with experimental results, with an average of 128 eV. The efficiency of the present potential is also comparable to the tabulated gaussian approximation potentials and modified embedded atom method potentials, meanwhile, can be further accelerated by graphical processing units. Extensive benchmark tests indicate that this potential has a relatively good balance between accuracy, transferability, and efficiency.

Genetic investigations of cardiomyopathy in the recent two decades have revealed a large number of mutations in the genes encoding sarcomeric proteins as a cause of inherited hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), or restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM). Most functional analyses of the effects of mutations on cardiac muscle contraction have revealed significant changes in the Ca2+-regulatory mechanism, in which cardiac troponin (cTn) plays important structural and functional roles as a key regulatory protein. Over a hundred mutations have been identified in all three subunits of cTn, i.e., cardiac troponins T, I, and C. Recent studies on cTn mutations have provided plenty of evidence that HCM- and RCM-linked mutations increase cardiac myofilament Ca2+ sensitivity, while DCM-linked mutations decrease it. This review focuses on the functional consequences of mutations found in cTn in terms of cardiac myofilament Ca2+ sensitivity, ATPase activity, force generation, and cardiac troponin I phosphorylation, to understand potential molecular and cellular pathogenic mechanisms of the three types of inherited cardiomyopathy.

In this paper,we present a novel and robust nonlinear precoding(NLP)design and detection structure specifically tailored for multiple-input multipleoutput space division multiple access(MIMO-SDMA)systems toward 6G *** approach aims to effectively mitigate the impact of imperfect channel estimation by leveraging the channel fluctuation mean square error(MSE)for reconstructing a highly accurate precoding matrix at the ***,we introduce a simplified receiver structure that eliminates the need for equalization,resulting in reduced interference and notable enhancements in overall system *** conduct both computer simulations and experimental tests to validate the efficacy of our proposed *** results reveals that the proposed NLP scheme offers significant performance improvements,making it particularly well-suited for the forthcoming 6G wireless.

The field of levitated optomechanics has experienced significant advancements in manipulating the translational and rotational dynamics of optically levitated particles and exploring their sensing *** concept of using optically levitated particles as gyroscopes to measure angular motion has long been explored but has not yet been proven either theoretically or *** this study,we present the first rotor gyroscope based on optically levitated high-speed rotating *** gyroscope is composed of a micrometer-size ellipsoidal vaterite particle that is driven to rotate at MHz frequencies in a vacuum *** an external angular velocity is input,the optical axis deviates from its initial position,resulting in changes in the frequency and amplitude of the rotational *** analyzing these changes,the angular velocity of the input can be accurately detected,making it the smallest rotor gyroscope in the *** angular rate bias instability of the gyroscope is measured to be 0.08°/s and can be further improved to as low as 10^(−9)°/h theoretically by cooling the motion and increasing the angular moment of the levitated *** work opens a new application paradigm for levitated optomechanical systems and may pave the way for the development of quantum rotor gyroscopes.

The effect of stress-relief annealing at different stages of thermal fatigue tests on crack growth was investigated using a self-built thermal cycle *** results showed that annealing could limit crack expansion *** reduced dislocation density and released the accumulation of residual *** addition,the strain accumulation in carbides was reduced by this *** was also found that double annealing was even more effective at inhibiting crack expansion compared to single stress-relief *** 1000 cycles,the maximum crack length was reduced by 31.1%and 45.2%for the samples after using the optimal single and double annealing processes,*** single stress-relief annealing,earlier annealing provides more benefit in delaying crack ***,effective double stress-relief annealing requires a suitable time interval between the annealing ***,after 800 cycles,surface hardness decreased significantly accompanied by an increase in the size and number of carbides,and cracks expanded predominantly along grain boundaries.

The existence of high-density bedding planes is a typical characteristic of shale oil *** the behavior of hydraulic fracturing in high-density laminated rocks is significant for promoting shale oil *** this study,a hydraulic fracturing model considering tensile failure and frictional slip of the bedding planes is established within the framework of the unified pipe-interface element method(UP-IEM).The model developed for simulating the interaction between the hydraulic fracture and the bedding plane is validated by comparison with experimental *** hydraulic fracturing patterns in sealed and unsealed bedding planes are ***,the effects of differential stress,bedding plane permeability,spacing,and the friction coefficient of the bedding plane are *** results showed that a single main fracture crossing the bedding planes is more likely to form in sealed bedding planes under high differential *** decrease in bedding plane permeability and the increase in the friction coefficient also promote the fracture propagating perpendicular to the bedding *** with high-density bedding planes has a poorer fracturing effect than that with low-density bedding planes,as the hydraulic fracture is prone to initiate and propagate along the bedding ***,higher injection pressure is needed to maintain fracture propagation along the *** increase in bedding density will lead to a smaller fracturing *** fluid seepage into the bedding planes slows shale *** is recommended that increasing the injection flow rate,selecting alternative fracturing fluids,and employing multi-well/multi-cluster fracturing may be efficient methods to improve energy production in shale oil reservoirs.
